We got a bunch of butterfly plants here this week. The staff were so knowledgeable and helpful. They also helped us a pick a grape vine for our backyard. Trimmed the dead stuff and educated us on the proper soil. Definitely a different experience than Home Depot! Found our new plant supplier! read more

I am a regular customer at this location. I also make miniature gardens. Last visit there, I noticed they sold a variety of gardens. I asked to see the manager, Karen Sandell, to discuss me selling my products at her store. Karen asked me to send her an email to explain my business. I have multiple times emailed her, attached were pictures of my gardens. She never replied. I called several times and left messages on her voice mail extension 225. I also urged her to check her spam mail, in case my emails end up there. Several calls and emails later and no response. Very unprofessional! I expected better customer service from a high end nursery, especially that I am also a customer who buys pots, soil, miniatures and plants for my gardening projects. I am very very disappointed. A simple thanks but no thanks call or email would have been professional enough. read more

Green Thumb Nursery was a great decision and was suggested by one of my friend...It was my first time and ill come back...They have great selections if plants, flowers, trees, decors, outdoor stuffs. Water fountains and list goes on...The price was cheaper than the other nursery that usually I go so it was reasonably priced...The workers were gem...So kind...They were so patient and knowledgeable...This place is one of the places that you can find CITRUS tree but you can bring out to the nursery and you need tell one of the employees to keep it for you aside (due to citrus quarantine). As you know bringing them out could spread problems like citrus greening disease or even pests to other healthy trees...So be cautious! Im happy that they had the tree so no problem to keep it aside till the shopping is done. Citrus pricing was great for example: 7 Gal was $79.99 plus tax and 15 Gal was $249.99. So great bargain. Inside, also is therapy...Gorgeous decoration and they were so selective about every piece they sell so it was an enjoyable shopping experience. Also, i love their return policy they have 1 year exchange or store policy and i attached it for review. I ended up buying lot of cute things that i didnt have plans to buy but its ended up another great selection to my little garden. There is also a big parking lot so no worries to find a place and YES its crowded bit you can manage it easily. read more

A great local nursery with friendly and knowledgeable staffs. The selections are decent and the prices are reasonable. It is not as cheap as the specialty nurseries but I think it is reasonable since you don't have to drive down to San Diego or up to Oxnard. The plants are very healthy. You can feel that the staffs took good care of the plants. I never had any plants bought here that are sick or weak when I bring them home. Every time I have a question, the staffs are always happy to help. Some of the staff may not have the best customer service because they are not naturally salesman, but they are knowledgeable and willing to share information. I worked in sales for many years and I can tell when a person is willing to help or just want to shush you away. If you need plants locally, give this place a chance. read more

I really wanted to like this nursery because they have a fantastic variety of plants compared to Home Depot. Unfortunately, the customer service was incredibly disappointing, and I walked out without spending a single dollar. I visited with my mother and daughter looking for greenery for three boxed planters between my garage doors. I first saw two employees chatting but decided not to disturb them. Instead, I approached an older gentleman working nearby. Before I could even finish explaining my setup (morning sun, limited afternoon sun), he abruptly cut me off to say he "can't tell me what to get, only suggest," and pointed me toward flowers. I wanted greenery to match my home's modern style, but he didn't give me the chance to explain. After he made it obvious he was too "busy" to help, I flagged down an older female employee. She also seemed in a massive rush, gave me a generic explanation about shade plants being under the canopy and sun plants being in the open, and quickly brushed me off without actually helping me find anything. I understand staff get busy, but if they didn't have time, I wish they would have guided me to someone else who could help rather than just dismissing me. It's a shame, because the inventory is great, but the lack of help for a customer unfamiliar with plants ruined the experience. I won't be shopping here again anytime soon. read more

They have terrible customer service. When we asked questions to the first female customer service representative she gave very short answers without any explanation for her answers which felt like she really didn't know much and needed to refer some of our questions to the male representative. He was even worse than her (at least she smiled at us). He also gave short answers but his attitude was horrible; it was a "I can't be bothered right now" type of haughty attitude. I will never give them my business on that alone especially when you're supposed to be in the information/customer service department. Just wanted to add that this occurred at the Lake Forest location. I don't want to be unfair about other Green Thumb locations. read more

Now that I'm old, I'm taking up some old people hobbies. Gardening is an expensive hobby, but you're supposed to get lots of food in return once you get set up. The food flavor definitely tastes better when you grow it yourself and eat it the same day it's harvested. I drop by here on a whim to see the difference between a nursery and a big box store like home depot, and there is a huge difference. For starters, they have a huge variety of natural and organic soils that you cannot get elsewhere. The staff here are incredibly knowledgeable for all of my questions too. Whether it's pests, soil, or fertilizing they knew what questions to ask to get me the best answers. read more

Went here to purchase a mint plant and found myself purchasing three different varieties and also a spearmint plant! In addition, Purchased a milkweed plant getting ready for monarch butterfly season. Now is the time apparently for flowering sweet peas to be planted. For fruit trees, roses, seasonal plants, etc. this is the place to go. I do wish they had miniature mulberry plants that were smaller & more affordable. This is a special shout-out to Kai, who was incredibly helpful and patient with me and my friend (a new gardener!). He took the time to answer all of our questions and made the experience really enjoyable -- thank you, Kai! This place is usually my go-to spot, and I genuinely love the vibe here. That said, on this visit it was harder than usual to find help in the outdoor area. While several team members were available indoors, they were unwilling to answer questions and directed us to find someone outside instead. After some searching, we finally found Kai. I understand that roles can be divided, but this felt different from the level of customer service I've experienced here in the past. We have gone to this store for years, but recently it seems like they clearly don't want their customer base's money. Their hours are getting shorter and shorter, and today when I arrived during the hours stated online, a cashier flipped the store sign to "Closed" as we were walking up. Myself and several others were in the parking lot very confused because the hours said they were open. I'd love to support a smaller business, but hard to do so when every time I go there, they're closed. Especially frustrated when they're closing during hours they claim to be open, with several customers getting out of their cars to come in. read more

I recently got into gardening because we got a turtle and had to dig up a pond...anyways, I realized that not all nurseries, Home Depot, etc sell pond plants. So my coworker recommended this place and I went to check it out an hour before closing on Monday. The prices are pretty affordable compared to a larger nursery I checked out in OC. Customer service was great - I didn't know much about pond plants, but the gentleman who helped me gave me so much info. I love that they know what they're talking about! My turtle loves the water lettuce and water hyacinth that we purchased. Also got some mosquito fish so that was a bonus! I actually want to return to check out their other aisles. As far as I could see, they have a wide selection of plants and even patio furniture. Prices are also decent and there's coupons you can use too. I'll be back soon. read more

One good thing that came out of this pandemic was me becoming a plant mom. After checking out some nurseries around me including the garden section of Home Depot and Lowe's, I found Green Thumb to be my favorite go-to. Offering a myriad of selection of house plants, outdoor plants, fruit trees, succulents, herbs, as well as garden furniture and plant accessories, it's a one-stop shop for every plant lover out there. Their very knowledgeable and friendly staff have helped me learn so much about plants that each time I pay them a visit, I bring with me a list of questions about my plants at home. My first purchase here is my avocado tree, growing slowly but surely in my backyard at the moment. I also got several hanging succulents - one of which was a fishhook that I'm so fond of. I managed to over-water my monstera and under-water my croton causing me to almost kill them, but with the guidance of Green Thumb's staff, they're now well on their way to recovery - thank goodness! My newest addition to the family is a yellow rubber tree, aka ficus elastica and it's simply gorgeous. I hope I can give it all the love it needs and a very long life. For new plant moms out there, I find the snake plants and pothos the easiest to care for if that helps you decide what to start with. Happy planting! read more
