This place appears to be small but once you walk in it is rather large. There are so many greenery items you can pick from as well as fountains and water features to chose from and so very colorful. I'm usually not a complainer but VERY disappointed in these guys. Special ordered and paid over $3400.00 for 2 fountains and the paint is blistering and bubbling off after 1 month. Finish on them is not like they represented at the nursery. I have called and emailed as requested with pictures and still no response after 3 weeks. I understand sometimes things go wrong with product but it's pretty bad when they can't communicate or help resolve the issue. Thought I bought a high end product. We were looking for that special fountain for our backyard and found it here. Their selection is amazing! We had the fountain delivered Friday and they were very quick and professional. We spent most of the weekend in a zen like trance watching and listening to the water twinkle and gurgle. It's unbelievably relaxing and we are so happy with our purchase!! UPDATE: Still loving the fountain. It is a welcome watering and bathing station for many birds. I'm happy to be able to provide clean fresh water for the woodland creatures in the middle of our horrible drought! Very good selection of pottery as well as water features. They also have some really nice natural stone fountains as well. The property is extensive and you have plenty of paths to walk around and look at their large inventory of pots and planters that they carry. I agree with other reviews that the staff doesn't come out and greet you but they are great when you ask for help. I personally like this as there is plenty to see and they are there when you need them. They also have various decor items as well as a decent succulent assortment but I'd go to Plant Depot for the plants. Prices are OK but you definitely get the selection to choose from. read more

Smaller retail nursery right off Ortego Highway in SJC. Getting in and out is a bit tricky since you don't have a traffic light. It's like pulling into someone's private driveway. Once you've pulled in, there are a handful of coveted parking spaces. I perused the selection here and it was not too interesting. I would say almost half of what was available were enormous decorative planters that would require special equipment to move. The plants were not really organized and not in particularly good condition. Several were covered in weeds or just haphazardly tossed into corners. read more

Purchased two 34" pots for my backyard project. The crew that was there was super friendly and helpful. They were not trying to push me and they gave me several tips on which pours to purchase. Once I made my pots were washed and the crew did an excellent job get them in my car and securing them. I will definitely go back if I need anything else. read more

WOW What a surprise! I've driven by Stevens on Ortega a hundred times and just though they sold pots. Well a few weekends ago, we were looking for a pot and they came to mind so we dropped by. WOW, what a surprise. This place is huge! The street frontage is large but it's nothing compared to how deep this place goes into the hillside. They also seem to specialize more in fountains than anything else, although they have a huge selection of pots and tons of plants, especially succulents. And yes, we ended up going home with a fountain that we love. read more

For what should be a busy Sunday at a nursery, this place was dead. There was one other car in the parking lot. Possibly this nursery is going out of business? Retail businesses need to be aware of how customers and social media influence how their businesses are perceived based on customer experiences with their businesses. Retail, there is a ton of competition out there. You only get one chance to get it right. At a minimum, having an employee to check-in with a prospective customer would be a start. For a nursery, it would also be good to have the names of plants listed somewhere along with prices. Having some variety of fountains would also be a benefit. Fountains were priced but exceedingly high. Looking for a fountain for our backyard, there were many but not much variety. The pricing was not competitive. Employees were sitting in what appeared to be a shack but no one came out to ask if we had any questions. My wife and I left and went to The Plant Depot which was a completely different experience. Plant Depot does not have fountains but it is a large nursery with lots of employees that are outside helping customers. Needless to say, we will be back and often to shop at the Plant Depot. We will probably do more research online for a fountain and go from there. Unfortunately, we were very underwhelmed by our visit to Stevens Nursery. read more

This company is amazing in terms of customer service. We bought three fountains from them and over time we noticed what appeared to be paint peeling off 2 of the fountains. Even though they knew it was just built up algae and they could be cleaned, since we were convinced they were failing, they offered to replace each of them for no charge. When I finally figured out it was just thick algae growth, I called them to say I won't need new fountains. I asked why they were offering to replace something that was clearly fine (user error), they replied that they felt it was better to make us happy than to argue a point. Amazing! I have never experienced such customer focused action from this type of business. I recommend them highly!! Oh, and clean your fountain occasionally. :) read more

This nursery is one of the best kept secrets in South Orange County. Walking through this nursery is like walking through a private garden, with hidden turns and secluded fountains and groves. Their selection is unmatched by any local nursery if you are looking for a pot or fountain. Their trees are all in great condition, and are MUCH less expensive that purchasing at nearby Plant Depot (maybe 30% less). Not only that, their specimens are great in terms of size - when you bu a 24" box tree, you're getting a tree that should be in a 36" box, or when you buy a 15 gallon tree, it feels like it could be in a 24" box at a competing nursery. If you're looking to buy anything 5 gallon and up, this is the place to go. Salvador and Jesus are great help too, amazingly polite, and are quick to assist you if you need it - which is rare sometimes at a busy nursery. read more

The plants are over grown and not cared for. The pottery and fountains are the most expensive I've ever seen. I bought some planters before I moved from N. CA at Pot Depot near Sunol. I paid $3.85 for a 12" tall pot. The same pot at Steven's was $39.95. Again, I paid $49.95 for a larger pot and Steven's sells the same for $395.00. It amazes me that the pots are from Mexico and they cost more here, closer to the boarder. Even Plant Depot or Rogers has them for less. The only thing worth seeing at Steven's is the crazy landscaping left over from years ago when it was an event destination. Try and find the jacuzzi or the BBQ area. There are winding paths with mucky ponds and non functional waterfalls but it's fun to see what might have been amazing in it's day. Today it's just an overgrown, over priced mess.... read more

If you even remotely like cacti and succulents you need to go here now- they currently have the best selection I've found in all of OC. They cost maybe $1-2 more than you might pay at somewhere like Home Depot but instead of being scorched or spindly, the plants are well-cared for and already overgrowing their pots. In my mind, this is well worth a few extra bucks. On top of this, the nursery itself is gorgeous and really relaxing to walk through. The staff is very knowledgeable and there's an extensive selection of planters to choose from as well as some nice patio furniture. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Vast selection of pots and fountains, but just ridiculously overpriced. 2 stars for the amount of inventory and one more for some of the cool yard / landscaping / patio stuff they have, but 2 stars off for prices that aren't just expensive, they're "head-scratching, mouth dropping" expensive. Absolutely the most expensive pottery I've seen in OC. We typically shop at Roger's Garden and I don't mind paying for good quality, but this place is ridiculous! We bought 3 large antiqued pots for our front area delivered for 750.00. They wanted 500 for a medium sized antiqued one that was a pretty common design. I suppose I should thank them for being so ridiculous that we were forced to go elsewhere. Nothing they have is unique enough to justify their prices on pottery. Go to Roger's Garden or Plant Depot. If you don't mind the drive go to Pottery Distribution and Manufacturing in Gardena. They are well worth the drive and they deliver. read more

What a disappointment. You drive up and see the plethora of pots, fountains, and plants and believe you will find what you seek - and you do....for more than you will pay anywhere else! Not a little more - a lot more. That $79 pot will cost you $40-50 at plant depot or Armstrong. The fountains - oh the fountains - so many and so amazing. The exact same fountain was at Armstrong for 20% less, and it was not on sale. I really tried. The place was dead, so I figured maybe these were joke prices, door openers to negotiations....nope. Those are the prices, and even though the exact same $599 fountain was $499 within their own yard, they still didn't budge. Crazy. You really want to love this place and help them move the mountains of inventory they are sitting on, but they do not appear to be motivated to meet you half way. Such a shame to have such a beautiful nursery so close and so useless. read more
