I always have a good time here. The acoustics aren't excellent but I don't think they are anywhere near as bad as most of the other negative reviews on here say. The staff is very friendly and helpful - when they can hear you at least - and they are actually amazingly good at understanding your order even when it seems like you can't hear each other. I'd give five stars if the drinks were more reasonably priced. Paying more than what you can buy a six pack for for a single beer is pretty outrageous in my opinion but you know what you're getting into on that front going in I guess. I'll be back but I think I'll be doing most of my beer consumption before going inside :) read more

I've been in this venue a couple of times already and its always been a good experience. Great sound, intimate setting and great line up. I am knocking down a couple of stars because of the bar inside. Drinks are a bit overpriced and the food are mediocre. Dont expect top notch high quality menu. We're talking tater tots, chicken wings fries. Anything fried. The worst part? It took more than an hour and a half for an order of chicken wings ang tater tots!! I can see if it takes 30 mins for something high quality but its fried food!! We ended up gulping it down at the venue itself so we get us a good spot. They have got to get their kitchen staff on track. My friend ended up having to wait for 2 hours because when she went to get her order, someone supposedly picked it up already!! Showbox SODO is basically an old warehouse with a stage at one end. the floor is flat and the stage is low. it's a terrible experience if you're anything shorter than 5'6". I'm here trying to see Ministry and all I get are the backs of peoples heads. Seriously, this venue sucks for me. read more

This review is based on my first experience here. Overall, staff was wonderful. Did a great job with this venue. It's a small place but intimate. I was able to get a close up picture of my favorite artist Daniel Ceasar. Thanks to the security for allowing me. This place serve finger foods: chicken wings, pizza and tater tots (I think that's what they are called) oh, and drinks as well. Merchs were available as well. I'd come here a lot earlier to get a good seat next time I return. I recommend this venue plus parking is easily accessible. Thumbs up! read more

I had my pens stolen by security, because "they could he used to vandalize" wouldn't give them back after the show either, essentially stealing $60 off me. they made me open an envelope, which contained fan art, because it was "a security risk" as a grown man, that was humiliating. the venue was too hot, and they made you pay for water unless you overheated and threw up. the performance we went to see was good, but that was by no means because of the venue. they're sound system is lack luster, and bass heavy. which makes it hard to hear the vocalist. overall, would not reccomend. read more

If i could give this venue 0 stars, i would. First of all i went for the Bossman Dlow concert here, fun startup rappers and music in general. However the security here SUCKS, seemingly no security officers inside the actual venue, a huge fight started in the early times of the concert, no security came to break them up. Which subsequently led to an individual bringing a gun inside the venue so... as you can see the metal detectors did not work successfully. Leading to a shooting inside the venue when i was there 6/5/24. Super scary experience and if security were there and did their job correctly, this would NOT have happened. read more

It's a fun venue for live acts. Good drinks, nachos to soak up fhe alcohol. If you want a table, arrive early. Acoustics is not the best, but the ability to see the performance without a big viewing screen more than makes up for it. Ticket prices are quite reasonable, at least before the online "convenience fees". read more

We had blast. I don't know what people are basing their reviews on with bad reviews, but I been to most concert venues. There were so many parking in the area! Paid, but many! This is well secured club as they check everyone's bag for weapons etc and plenty of security personnel on staff both by the stage and door. I felt safe there! We did get there on time and had 3-openers an hour each. 8pm to 11pm was opening artists. Headliner started at 11pm and we left about 12:30-45am? All I know is that we stood up for all that time (4-5 hours) we got every from music what can I say! We didn't want to lose the front row center standing only room. There were lots of younger kids just 18 & over that couldn't handle it and they left so We had various people on our right and left. Some tried to claim more Space by putting arms on stage security fence, but I'm not intimidated easily so we stayed the whole time. I loved this crowd as they were all nice, unlike people my age who gets mean and ugly if they don't get their way! I was loving this young group of kids! By the time main artist, Kaivon came downstairs, it was lit! He was so close to us and photos and videos galore for many memories! Lighting and confetties were not as expensive as Vegas night clubs, but more Fun and valuable here as there were full of genuine kids over 18 & I felt the music & artists energy more! Innocent kids with their friends girl friends and boyfriends dressed in colorful fun clothes! ( maybe lol ) and small venue made it an awesome experience. You do have to be able to handle standing up for hours if you want what we experienced. Been everywhere, this was the most epic experience ever. You cannot get this in Vegas or any stadium setting. Small is better! If you are a germiphobe, not for you obviously as you will be brushing to each other and most people have little clothes on. We ended up seeing lots of guys w/o shirts and I ended up wearing just the sports Bra as it got HOT! Layer kids! Say excuse me or sorry if you do push shove or hit someone accidentally. I live in SoCal--more specifically the LA area. We have a large EDM scene here and also have plenty of venues and clubs that holds little to large events. I was in Seattle for the weekend with some friends and I was lucky enough to attend the Tritonal, Cash Cash, & Party Favor show backstage (the only reason why I'm giving this place an extra star). 5 star show, 2 star venue. I arrived a little late because I was dropped off at the wrong ShowBox and there was a small line of people to get in. I went to the ticket-booth and picked up my VIP wristbands and was escorted to go through the back way. The security briefly checked my belongings and I walked up the stairs and before I knew it, I was backstage and Tritonal was right in front of me. I was SO HAPPY I wanted to cry but obvi I had to keep my composure. The ventilation of the venue sucked. It was ridiculously hot backstage and the guys only had 2 small fans on the floor keeping them cool. I couldn't have even imagined how hot the floor was until I had to walk through the crowd to get my ID checked/arm stamped and I felt so bad for everyone on the floor. It was stuffy, sweaty, and small. Everyone was packed in the venue and they definitely oversold the show. From a backstage POV, I loved the experience even though it was hot as tits. It was nice to see the show from a different perspective and how the artists really love their fans. There's a lot of technical work that occurs behind the scenes and I was lucky enough to experience that. Tritonal & Cash Cash were standing next to me several times but I was too shy to say hi (didn't want to be a groupie either). The guys were friendly and did acknowledge me though + smiled. I had the opportunity to meet them after but I thought I was going to throw up so... I missed out on that opportunity :( read more

If you are in anyway physically impaired, I do not recommend going here. I am on crutches right now. I still had to wait in line in the smoking section and when you get in you have to go up a flight of about 6 stairs. Then you get crammed in a tiny section of a combo of high barstools and low dining chairs. With a sprained foot, having my foot dangle all night in a high chair wasn't an option. Did I mentioned the disabled section view is completely BLOCKED by a huge wooded pillar. Awful experience. Skip it until you can go into another section where you can stand all night. BTW: The sound was the worst I've ever heard! Do better! read more

The overall venue was average, and they had great sound quality for the Bob Moses show in June. They have a large floor space in front of the stage but also they have seating for those who want it in a bar area above. I didn't experience the bar since I don't drink for the staff there in order to determine if they're polite or not. And my interaction with Security was only brief, as I came really early. Went to see Clozee here for a good friends birthday, while the music was great (their sound system leaves much to be desired for anything electronic, especially bass-ier shows) I have been to SODO more times than I can count, and while it is certainly not my favorite venue, I have NEVER seen it this packed. its like they intentionally sold more tickets than they should. no way they were within fire code at all. I spent more time dealing with people constantly shoving their way through the crowd than enjoying the music, its not like they could help it, it was packed wall to wall. good luck having any room to dance that night. towards the end of clozee's set my group moved toward the front door just to find some "space", and even there it was more of the same. I am telling you, this was a bad experience because of the number of people. venues should always consider the experience that their customers will have when looking at capacity. This was one of the worst I have ever had, incredibly disappointed. Was the final shitty experience here that really makes me question if I will ever be back. read more

I was here for a show last week on 10/4/23 and this was one of my best concert experiences ever. I've been to a lot of venues around the US and most of the time, security and staff are so rude or indifferent. Whoever was working security this day was incredible and I have never felt so protected or cared for in my life. One guy in the crowd was harassing a bunch of girls up front, including myself, and security immediately kicked him out, checked on us girls multiple times to make sure we were okay after that, and they made sure everyone had water and was hydrated. They took care of crowd surfers so swiftly and I thought the venue was great for an intimate show. Thank you to everyone working that night, I appreciate you more than you know! read more

Was disappointed because I am such a fan of the Showbox on First Avenue. The acoustics here are awful which led to our departure from the Psychedelic Furs/James concert early. Last week was the first time that I have been to the Showbox SoDo. It seems similar in set up to the Showbox in downtown. I actually like this venue a lot. You can get relatively close to the stage. But that probably depends who you are coming here to see. It may be a struggle to get up front depending who is playing and how the kinetic energy is. There is a bar with seats that you can use if standing isn't your thing. There is also bars on the main floor. I was a little bit surprised that they had metal detectors here going into the building. But their standards do seem to be a bit lax compared to going to the airport or a county building for instance. I had a belt with metal that would go off for sure and it did. I was prepared to take my belt off so they could inspect it. I get "No, no! You don't have to do that!" Lol! The concert that I went to go see here was Goldfrapp. Goldfrapp is out of the UK and doesn't hardly ever do extensive touring in the U.S. If she does it is just a few select dates... if you are lucky. This was one of those type of tours as well for the group so it was a real special treat coming to the Showbox SoDo to see the band! read more

Absolute failure if a venue. For the show I tried to go to, the line to get in was so long that I literally missed the entire headliner. They could not get everyone inside in time before the start, or before the END of the headliner. Absolute rip off, and I am very disappointed because it was my favorite band. I have been waiting years to see them. Get there early. Earlier than early. Expect to wait in line 1 hour to get inside. read more

Showbox SoDo is quite possibly the most awful sounding venue (acoustically) on the West Coast. I don't know what this building was originally used for but I guarantee it wasn't music. The wood beams that hold up the ceiling totally interfere with the sound waves and create so many reflections you can't make out anything. Despite the crazy bathroom line and one grouchy bartender lady, I had a fun time here with a few friends this past weekend. Went to see Tchami and overall, this wasn't a bad venue to listen to some awesome music and have room to dance. In general, my visit went like so: ~Parking: Plenty of space everywhereeeeee ~Security check: First, ID check. Second: Metal detector check. Third: Ticket check. I noticed that once your ticket gets checked, it gets ripped (almost apart) and trashed. I guess I stared at the dude who had my ticket for too long, so he gave me what was left of my hard copy ticket back (yay memorabilia). ~Once inside, try going to the bathroom before the main act starts. The line to the bathroom is easily seen by the stairs and it's a bit chaotic for those who haven't been to the venue before. For one thing, those stairs = line to the bathroom + re-entry to the upstairs bar (only if you have a stamp) + the exit of the upstairs bar. If you look lost, the security (lady in my case) will kindly bark at you to get moving somewhere to avoid human congestion. Bathrooms = plenty of stalls. ~After the bathroom run, my group of friends and I had to waddle down the stairs and queue up for bar entry. After presenting ID, we each got a stamp and away we go for shots. The bar on the main floor = friendly bartenders. Shots were at a reasonable price and it was pretty chill to just stand there. Compared to the upstairs bar however, the bartender lady we had was very short and grouchy with us when asking her a couple of questions. Overall, if you need a place to chillax from the crowd, just nab a nice spot in the bar area and you're good to go. ~Main floor: Start your journey early if you want to be up front & center to the main act. Otherwise, you'll probably get a dirty look from people as you try to make your way through. The main act performs on an elevated platform, so in general, you should get a decent view. ~Tips: Best dance spot to wiggle & boogle = stand in the center, in front of the systems check people. With nobody to dance behind you except the metal bars, it's a pretty sweet spot. ~Gloving/flow toys - saw quite a bit of glovers + other flow toys, so it's allowed at this venue. :) read more

Pretty chill place in kind of an uglier part of town. It's right by t-mobile park. Bathrooms were good quality, parking wasn't too bad, and the concert was epic! Loved the rustic atmosphere, the smoke, and the close stage and bar area. I thought it was a great venue for someone like Daniel Caesar. Pretty intimate. It got so hot in there though!! Also security was up my ass all night I thrashed at the City Morgue show and was damn near trampled but got in trouble for basically just keeping my self off the ground. Went too Harry Mack show was great all be it but a bit short . Just a couple of hours we were about an hour late but he played just an hour more and was done ? Now for show box you've got handicap seating which you basically put behind a pole seriously guys ? Have you really thought this through . Spend your day just 1day navigating Seattle in a wheelchair or try walking with a back brace or crutches up a Seattle hill . Now go too a show box concert and be stuck in the back like your second rate citizen . Seriously how about you actually put your handicap seats forward where they can actually see the stage say move them towards the front where no poles block their view and your security actually give a crap about asking people in front of them too stop standing up . When they have a great view from their own seats above the crowd on the other tier . Look I understand people pay too see shows in all walks of life but very few times do handicap individuals get an opportunity too go too shows were they can see artists. You have an opportunity for anyone with a disability too have an amazing time , give us that amazing time instead of sitting us at the back of the bus. read more

I've been here loads of time for various shows. The venue is great, they have an area separate for those over 21 who want to drink and stay away from the younger kids, and that's a great feature. The main stage area is amazing for getting close to the artist and security has a great hold on things. We Ren had a friend who was a little drunk, and they gave him a 20 minute time out outside and then let him back in, which I respected. The bouncer even said she'd rather have people inside and safe than drunk on the street, so they were awesome. read more
