I really have to give kudos to the exemplary service here. I came here for another togo order of exactly what I got last time and I tried asking what the chef special was. Could they maybe include it in the togo order? The amazing host/server (Michelle) asked me what it was... a cone shaped deep fried thing filled with imitation crab? Typically, no, since it's dine in only and given at the discretion of the chef, if he feels like it. But she was super nice and we tipped regardless. When she returned with our order, she said she threw it in there for us. No way? And she even wrote us a note on top of the box "Have a good night! Enjoy :)" I love her so much! And especially the sushi chef in the back, who wrapped our rolls with love. I did feel like there was a little more rice than I would like but honestly it was gone in minutes and everything was as fresh and lovingly arranged as I remember. This is my 2nd time here. Came here for dinner with hubby & family on a Friday night. Ambiance was spacious & family friendly type of atmosphere. Surprisingly, it wasn't real busy so we didn't have to wait long until we got seated. I ordered the 10 piece omakase nigiri. The sushi was fresh & it was fairly good for the price but it wasn't top quality as I'm used to going to higher end places. My standard dish I use to compare sushi restaurants is the chiraishi bowl. At $36, I was expecting special but what I got was so boring. The very standard 2 piece serving of tuna, salmon, hamachi, clam, squid , ebi and tamago. Fish were fresh but average quality. It was just all okay. With the sushi combo options of 10, 16, or 20 you will be plenty full. They also have a 3 roll combo if you prefer rolls, but I prefer traditional sushi. They have regular menu items as well. In reading other reviews it seems that the lower star reviews are by people that don't order traditional sushi. On the afternoon of June 17th, our group visited this sushi place to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. As we entered the venue, the hostess who was on shift was quite unprofessional on the phone with quite a rude tone. The hostess finally finished the call and turned to greet us. For a party of 2/5 who was present, we were told to wait outside in the heat despite the many empty tables in the restaurant. When our entire party arrived to be seated, the same hostess simply waved us down (without using her voice at all) from across the room, and gestured for us to be seated at the table. Clearly, she has a voice but didn't bother to come to the front, lead us, or inform us towards the table. It was overall an awkwardly disappointing service to start off with. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Don't judge a restaurant by it's name and location. I was visiting LA and decided to meet up with some friends for sushi. We decided on Show Sushi since it was nearby but didn't really know what to expect. Upon walking in, we were immediately seated. Our orders were promptly taken, and our food came out fairly quickly. On top of the stellar service, I was blown away by the sushi. I had the sushi combo, which at first looks expensive, but is actually a great deal given the offerings. You're allowed to choose up to two pieces of anything for a total of 16 or 20 pieces. Some of the items they have listed is hard to come by at most sushi restaurants, such as toro and uni. Additionally, they serve massive pieces of fish! Beyond the sushi, my sushi combo also came with a salad and a bowl of miso soup. Additionally, ice cream is included at the end of every meal regardless of what you order. I definitely recommend Show Sushi to anyone in the area, and if I lived in LA, I would regularly visit Show Sushi. read more

I've dined here many times but it's been a minute since my last visit. I was craving a good bento box and recently dropped by for lunch since I was in the area. As I walked towards the entrance a sign on the door said they no longer serve AYCE, which I enjoyed when it was available a few years ago. So I ordered a two-item combo lunch with beef bulgogi and shrimp tempura. I didn't have to wait long for the meal to arrive at my table. I enthusiastically started to take it down. All the items in the bento were delicious. The beef bulgogi was tender and flavorful, the shrimp tempura was crispy, the hot miso soup, and the salad was refreshing. At the end of the meal, I chose the complimentary green tea. Vanilla is the other option. Overall, I'm pleased that the excellent service and the food quality have been consistent all these years. The price, on the other hand, did go up due to inflation. Sigh. But I'm happy to support a local business. The food and service is worth it. 4.3/5 It was ok but nothing great. Had high expectations because of the glowing reviews but I think those were mostly from roll enjoyers. The fish are fresh and tasty but aren't amazing quality. But I guess that's expected for the price. Nothing had that "melt in your mouth" texture and the toro was disappointingly stringy/chewy. But I might have just gotten an unlucky cut. The nigiri's were also too big for my taste. Out of my pickings, I enjoyed the shrimp, halibut, and yellowtail the most. They also gave me fried shrimp head on the house which I really enjoyed. Quality! Came in late on a weekday and ordered 10pc sashimi - 2 anago, 2aji, 2kanpachi, 2hotate, and 2negihamachi. Quality definitely blew me away. One of the best anago Ive ever had. Slices were very fatty and tender and delicate. Hard to find anago outside of omakase and it's usually very expensive. Saba is usually a little fishy so I go for aji which although less, still has a delicate briny taste. None of that here. And super tender as well. Also another item only on omakase or usually expensive. Nice slices of kanpachi with oily mouth feel. Very fresh. Hotate was great too. Definitely quality. On the sweeter side which is good. Negihamachi was good except too much scallion. Could do with a little less. Also a little on the cold side.
