Dr. Shor rendered unexpectedly good and pain free care. I have had a wire behind and stabilizing the lower front teeth for years. Aggressive biting broke one away and I sought immediate care to rebond the loose tooth. Even if the bonding were successful, I expected continuing but hopefully gradually diminishing pain while I confined myself to soft foods. In a very pleasant surprise, I found that the half hour visit had restored full utility and I was pain free. He said he had done something that might help. I think he grasped the situation and repositioned the tooth slightly higher on the wire taking the load off the inflamed tissue in the socket. What a pleasant surprise! read more

I should note that I went to Eastlake Dental two years ago and hated it so much I haven't been back, so for all I know it's just marvelous by now. I should have known better than to act on the recommendation of a guy who kept a jar of mayonnaise in the office fridge to dip rolled-up pieces of cheap bologna in, who wore pleated purple pants, and who ended up getting himself fired when the department manager walked into the bathroom and found him accusing another guy of stealing his paper towel. But I thought going to a dentist near my office would be convenient. Be that as it may, at the time I went there, Eastlake Dental had the most awful kind of cloyingly-friendly receptionist, who wouldn't just let you sit there looking at a magazine but had to try to induce you to say things so she could agree fulsomely with them. If you didn't say anything she would just pretend you had, so that she could agree fulsomely with whatever it was she had pretended you had said. They made you fill out a long, long questionnaire all about what you thought your smile looked like and other such immaterial things, and then took a picture of you grimacing and of your upper and lower teeth (glistening, naturally, with spit) to print out and give to you, presumably in the hopes you would post it on your refrigerator and looking at it every day would bring on a crisis of confidence that would lead you to run to them with pleas to help, help, help, please make you look presentable, to heck with the cost. When I went for my initial exam, there was a new assistant who had just started that day. She didn't know what she was doing, so everything took a really long time, and she had the hiccups, as well. Every employee has to have a first day, and you can hardly blame a girl for having the hiccups, but as time went on it started to seem part of an innocuous-seeming but sinister pattern. They didn't have a panoramic x-ray, so they took half a billion of those bite-wing x-rays, with lots of overly cheery advice on how not to throw up. As part of what was starting to seem their quest to waste as much of my time as possible, they made me make an entirely separate appointment, between the initial exam and the cleaning, for a "consultation" on the state of my mouth. At this consultation I had to bite down on one of those gag-inducing x-ray films again, since they had somehow screwed up on developing the first one they took. At the cleaning, they had a fancy water-jet cleaning tool, but there was a problem with the water supply, so it kept overheating, and then the hygienist would turn it off and sit around waiting for it to cool down, and then try again, and it would overheat, and she would ask the assistant to fiddle with the valve, and the assistant would fiddle, to no avail, and then the hygienist would start up again, and the thing would overheat, and so on, until at long last she gave up and resorted to old-fashioned scraping with metal tools, which I heartily wished she'd just done in the first place. When I went for a filling, after a protracted wrestle with a rubber dam that was, I guess, supposed to keep things from falling down my throat, they finally got it placed right, whereupon the dentist proceeded to drill a hole in it. Then she and the assistant (who didn't, at least, have hiccups this time) debated at length what to do about that, eventually giving up and reverting to wadding my mouth with cotton rolls. In the meantime, this assistant and the other assistant, who kept walking back and forth along the hallway, carried on a running argument about whether or not there were tools missing from the tray my dentist was using. My confidence was undermined. Oh, and they were expensive, too. read more

Best dentist clinic I've been to. Been going there for the past 2 years. Alex is quick, courteous, and VERY knowledgeable. He does not push sales! He recommends options to you and leaves it up to you to decide to do it or not. Office staff Pam is super friendly. Routine cleaning is actually a GOOD experience for me. Even though my MetLife crap insurance doesn't cover much, I am however glad to stick with them. This is coming from a guy who has HATED dentists all his life... read more

Dr. Shor is awesome! I've been going there for a few years now. I had a terrible cleaning one time and told him about it. Next thing you know, I got flowers delivered to my work apologizing about my experience. He also said that from now on, he or his wife would specifically do my cleanings moving forward. Today I was caught in bad traffic headed to my appointment. I called them to let them know and to possibly cancel since I knew I was going to be 15 minutes late. They were very accommodating and said that it was totally okay and they were going to do as much as they could and they'll even go over my appointment time if needed. read more

I went to Dr. Shor Dental to fix them and had the most positive experience I've had at a dentist in quite awhile. He was very attentive and fixed all my teeth in 1 visit. I had some major dental work that he handled beautifully and even sent me a wonderful bouquet of flowers after the process was over to congratulate me on all the work being completed. Have been going to Dr. Shor for years. I have recently become ill and my teeth and gums are a challenge. He and his entire team have treated me kindly gently and are seeing me more often than my insurance allows because it's medically necessary. They they take time and I couldn't be happier with the care I am receiving he's gracious his hygienist works overtime on my situation. I am very happy and recommend them highly. there is free parking in the parking lot at Washington State employees credit Union and they are right off Eastlake. read more

Mine will be the most recent review by 4 - 9 years; the previous positive reviews are quite old and things in the office have changed. I've been seeing Dr. A Shor for the past 4 or so years and during that time, have lost 4 molars and now have two implants, two more on the way. He does a very poor job at preventative care; once you lose your teeth under his watch, he does a beautiful job with crowns. I just switched to a new dentist and in the record transfer, saw that I hadn't had a periodontal exam in 2 1/2 years! I'd recommend him for cosmetic and restorative - he does beautiful work and you'll pay top dollar. But don't use him for prevention or maintenance - find a good dentist who will make sure you keep your teeth! read more

The last dentist I went to was a New Age sleazebag, so I came to Yelp to look for a good, solid practictioner, someone I could trust. I think I found him in Eastlake Dental. During my recent exam, Dr. Schor was very personable yet professional. He was very communicative during every step of the exam. He made recommendations, but didn't try to sell me on any procedure. His receptionist, Ruth, and his dental assistants were also very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be visiting him regularly from now on. read more

Dr. Shor came highly recommended to do my implant work and I've been very happy with his work. I've never had a dentist spend so much time himself on me. He's very caring, meticulous, and careful. He's very available and has always made time for my many concerns about the complicated implant work I've been doing. He makes himself available to paitents at all hours and days. I left my former dentist after she expressed total glee at me needing an implant after an old root canal failed. She "did her best" to glue the old crown back in and didn't even clean or disinfect the old crown. It fell out again days later. By contrast Dr. Shor spent 20 minutes explaining my different options to to repair the missing tooth area. To give me time to think about the options he disinfected the old crown and and managed to glue the old one in so well that it was hard to remove 2 months later when it was removed for my implant surgery. My implant is going well and he works very closely with my surgeon. Dr. Shor has my highest recommendation. read more

I have been a patient at Eastlake Dental for the last three years. I loved going to Dr. Michael Hrankowski and was saddened when he "semi-retired". However, the new dentist who took over for him, Alex Shor, is equally as good and pleasant to deal with. After years of NOT going to the dentist for fear of the chair, I found Eastlake Dental through a friend. I was completely impressed at the friendliness of the staff and in the process they used to consult with me on my care. While some may consider this a waste of time (two separate visits), I found that it helped me to budget for my care and to plan for it over the next two years. I was never made to feel guilty for not having gone to the dentist for so many years and was encouraged by the friendly atmosphere and state-of-the-art equipment. The office person/consultant, Pam, has become a fantastic friend and has been nothing but professional and helpful. In order to get my mouth back into some kind of reasonable shape, I went through a "four quadrant scaling". Once my mouth was healthy again, we started on the path of replacing old fillings and a replacement of an old veneer on one of my front teeth. I was sent to a lab in Bellevue for the design/creation of the veneer and I can honestly say, it's like a work of art! No would would ever know which of of my front teeth is not "real". So, are they pricey? Yes - but the care is top notch. You'll rarely wait more than 5 minutes for your appointment when you come in and the doctor does not have 8 patients in chairs at one time. I found out that using my Sonic care tooth brush had saved my teeth but by not flossing I was going to spend a huge sum of money on my gums in the near future. Before starting a treatment, Dr. Shor met with me to explain to me the medical issues, to plan both a normal and an aggresive strategy, and to estimate the cost of the different strategies. He put health over aesthetics. He never pressured me to make a decision; he allowed me to dictate the pace of the treatment. He referred me to top-notch and equally-sensitive specialists for extractions and a root canal. He used the latest technology and creative detail to offer me the best treatment to match my strategy.
