It is great having a super-market this size within walking distance. The prices are decent and they always run discount that alternate every week of many items. I tend to do most of my big shoppings here, especially when my fridge hits empty. Easily stack up for a week. This place is a supermarket wonderland it's so huge and open 24/7. They have Everything. Just try them. But don't come here hungry u might over shop. I come here often bc their prices are pretty decent. Not the best but good compared to places like pomegranate. For Passover they open up an entire two aisles just for Passover items. They always have sales - if u have their card u can get many discounts. We buy water at a good deal, aluminum foil when it's on sale etc etc They have kosher products and a kosher section aisle which is lacking a bit. This place is not super clean but it's not bad. I'm very picky about aesthetics and I still come here. Their produce section is not the best. It's good just not The Best. I like buying frozen hash browns here (random, I know) and whatever else I need. I go to a mix of 3 places usually- the supermarket on Ave U "produce 2000" which has a lot of Israeli kosher items and fresh beautiful fruit and vegetables. Pomegranate which is super expensive but aesthetic for specialty items/good quality meat, and this place for everything else. & Home Depot for those extra jumbo paper towels for $20/pack. A well-deserved five stars. There are very few big supermarkets in Brooklyn, in general, what we have is smaller supermarkets that often specialize in food from a certain part of the world.(example, supermarkets that have more latino products, or more asian products). This place is good because it has it all. You have a full Asian food section, Kosher section, Latino Section, halal section. You also have a giant deli with good selection of cold cuts and a variety of meats and fish. If you haven't been shopping in a while and need a good deal of food you can spend an hour or two just walking around and picking stuff up. The prices are generally good, there are a lot of sales. Also they have a parking lot in the basement of the building which makes things easier since this area does not have much parking. The only issue is that the parking lot can get crowded and this supermarket in general can get very crowded. But the lines usually move fairly quickly. This place is not a yuppy supermarket, its not very fancy, but it has just about everything. I highly recommend it. read more

I always come here to buy as much $2 gluten free matzo ball mix as i can carry home in a suitcase! Oh, and most importantly, the staff and security guard is ALWAYS super nice and patient with my 89 yr old kind of crazy Grandpa, who says lots of inappropriate things and likes to talk their ears off, but they never lose patience or rush him. I shop here every week and one of the associates near the freezers has an attitude problem. I recently got his name and will be calling shoprite corporate. (The number that is available to call on the bottom of your receipt) I highly advise everyone to do this if you have a problem with one of the associates that work here. I shopped here on 01/21/20 and this associate literally screamed at me. I was reaching for something in the display freezers and this lousy excuse of an associate yelled "here" not knowing what I needed. It wasn't even the product I needed. A full-sized, 24-hour grocery store in Brooklyn with ample parking and a wide variety of groceries catering to the local population. They have kosher, gluten-free, Italian, Mexican, and Carribean specialties along with the regular groceries that are so hard to find here. They have so many gluten-free items that they aren't in their own penalized section of the store, but rather they are scattered throughout the store in the appropriate categories. The also have 3-Liter Soda, do you know how hard it is to find 3-Liter soda? I love this place! read more

Pretty solid supermarket. The location is convenient for me especially with the parking. I make my list before heading to shoprite just to try to stay on track and try to fight the temptation of buying unnecessary groceries lol so I then look at their circular and their prices are affordable in comparison to many of the other big box names around. The weekends are always busy. If you drive there and park keep in mind you'll need to carry all your groceries back to your car. Or if you're lucky have someone come with you and pull the car up to the pick up area. THE SHOPPING CARTS HAVE PESKY SECURITY LIMITATION THEY WILL LOCK IF YOU TRY TO TAKE ONE TO YOUR CAR. Big place with huge selection and reasonable prices. This is my preferred place to do my shopping. One of the things i like about it, is that they try their best, to make the checkout quick for you, so from the moment i finish loading, till i start the checkout, it usually take no more than 5 minutes, no matter how packed the place is. The only reason that i take off 2 stars, is their delivery service, that asked me more than once, to take with me all the cold staff!! Are you for real??? You expect me to carry all the milk the meat and the frozen staff all the way to my place, when the rest of the staff will arrive in a delivery that i paid for?? Not serious... I gave ShopRite of Brooklyn a very positive review a few years ago. A lot has changed since then and a lot has stayed exactly the same. What is still the same is the quality of their overpriced produce. Unless something is on very good sale, get fresher and more reasonably priced produce from the store across the street. They have been renovating this store for what seems like an eternity. Throughout this entire process they never closed for even one night. No, this is not a good thing. I don't have to be exposed to toxic dust, flying debris and asbestos only because I am there to buy a loaf of bread or something else. Recently I was sent an promotional e-mail with a snap-shot of the first page of ShopRite's weekly ad. I got excited because the ad said that the store now doubles the value of all coupons up to 99 cents. I clicked on the link and, unfortunately, it took me to Brooklyn's REAL ad which not only didn't have the double coupon announcement but also had prices much higher than the one they e-mailed me. So I decided to go ahead and compare the prices of ShopRite's Brooklyn store and one of their other New York City locations - the one in Staten Island. I was extremely disappointed to find out that customers in Brooklyn pay way more for their purchases, even those items that are supposed to be on sale. In some cases the difference in price is ridiculous. I am attaching a few side by side photos of ShopRite's current weekly ad in Brooklyn and Staten Island. These are only the first few pages, but you can see that while some items are sold at the same or similar price in both locations, there are items that are sold at a way way higher price. I don't know if this has been always going on or if it is a recent change that the Brooklyn store implemented, but I feel totally cheated. The neighborhood where ShopRite of Brooklyn is located is rather poor-to-middle-class, but by the way they have inflated their prices, you'd think you're shopping at the Food Emporium on Union Square. I guess somebody had to pay for that endless renovation, so they just quietly made us, the loyal customers pay for the cost of the "new and improved" ShopRite of Brooklyn. read more

I like Shoprite and this is the closest location to me besides the Gateway one but this location has horrible parking. The market is fine and so are the people inside and the prices but today I was rushed out of my spot by an angry aggressive Security guy who I'm not even sure works there (he was wearing a black shirt with the word Security on it) but he was so annoying and loud it completely ruined my ride home. I guess he was there because people don't know how to navigate the parking lot but this guy made it worse by shouting at the customers to move and go. Who does that?! Because of him (and the fact that I am almost always guaranteed someone dinging my car) I will be going to Gateway instead. This experience was very unappreciated. read more

This is the first time and last time I will come to this supermarket. Most of the fresh produce seemed old and wilted. The overall appearance was dirty and disgusting. It's 11:40pm on a Saturday, not too many people shopping, why is it so dirt??? Let's not talk about the meat department. There was old dried up smelly blood at the bottom of the freezers, it looks like it was there for a week or two. Completely unacceptable!!! read more

I thought I wrote a review for them before...guess not. I usually end up here for shopping and prefer it over Pathmark and Waldbaum's which both virtually have nothing to offer in comparison. And places like Foodtown are overpriced. Shop Rite is rather larger than the average supermarket chain in Brooklyn so of course they're able to carry a lot of stuff. They have Asian, Latino, Organics, Naan(hell yes), Kosher, Polish sweets and cookies and probably other stuff I'm forgetting. Pro: -Lines move pretty fast and the people are mostly helpful and friendly with exception to the rare teenager that appears to hate life itself. I do apologize though to any cashier who has had to endure dealing with my mother....I am so so sorry. -I never go home disappointed. They mostly have what I'm looking to buy every time and the prices are good. I'm a big fan of variety because it's hard to get bored with stuff when there's always something different to try. Funny enough as big as their food selection is, their soap section kind of sucks. -I've seen the managers walking around and being active in what needs to be done within the store which is a plus for me. Cons: -You have to buy razor blades at the Customer Service desk separate from the rest of the shopping. Knowing the type of customer turnout they have, I wouldn't be surprised. -There's a couple reasons why it's dirty. It borderlines borough park...have you SEEN what half the blocks in borough park look like? Also you get all the people who collect recycleables off the streets coming in there to get their money. It's disgusting yea but I don't see how that would stop me from buying the food that's in packaging. -Yes many customers are rude and retarded. Which is why I don't feel bad at all when I ram past their cart they so helpfully block the aisle with. Lol no wonder people in other states think i'm bat shit...look what habits I pick up. I've mostly had issues with weird people though. One woman followed me from that Jew cult crap the Hasidics are into. I need to stop answering truthfully when they ask if I'm Jewish... Another one thought it was her business to tell me which yogurt I should be buying. Then there was the guy that kept bouncing a ball against the shelf in the bread section. WTF? And then there was the time my friends and I went at midnight and there were mostly hasidics there. One of them made a comment about us being there at that hour in an annoyed tone because I guess we were talking too loud. Sorry but other people are allowed to be there. Not my fault you and your kosher vampire crew shop late at night to avoid 'outsiders'. -I don't know what reviewer was worried about flies...obviously they don't know about Petey the Pidgeon flapping around sometimes.. A tip for people who want to avoid nightmares in parking 1-Don't park downstairs. It's shady, creepy and I wouldn't do it if you paid me. 2-You want parking? Don't go EVER on Sunday. Friday Night is a dream though. Probably Saturday too. Plan around Shabbos and Jew holidays and you'll never go wrong. Overall I like shopping there. I gave it four stars because the place itself is good. To give it less because of customers is pretty damn stupid because it's out of Shop Rite's control. Stupid people are everywhere. This Shoprite, located on Avenue I, is one the largest around. What I like about it is that you can find just about anything you want here. Aisles are well-kept and clean, and prices are okay. Get yourself a Shop-Rite card and save yourself some money on groceries. The negatives: Beware if you go here on Fridays - it's complete chaos. People are everywhere. Be very patient moving your shopping cart. In addition, there's a cashier there (Janice) who is not the nicest of people. I've dealt with her a couple of times. Today, she wouldn't double bag my items. Instead, she chose to gossip with another customer about the previous customer she helped before it was my turn. As soon as we drove into the parking lot I knew this place was going to be horrible. I tried to be optimistic but in my gut I knew it. The parking lot was complete chaos. The underground parking lot is straight out of a horror movie where a woman goes to park down there and gets raped. So creepy. Inside the supermarket it was dirty, produce was old. People were pushing, rude, some were smelly. Really scummy people in there. The whole place smelled like old melted butter which was making me sick. I want to add 1 or 2 things to my laudatory review of 4 years ago after reading all of these reviews. I've been making a 4 hr. round-trip here from Manhattan for over 15 years and I'd not do this if this store was not as I had written, simply the biggest, best supermarket in the city, quite comparable to the suburban supermarkets. Anyone who reads Yelp regularly knows the sublime truth of the adage, "you can't please everybody" and its corollary, some people can never be pleased. So.. as regards some of these absurd criticisms, I write this: a- The store, open 24/7 has abundant outdoor/indoor parking. b- The store, I reiterate, is NOT dirty and the restrooms are clean. c- The staff is perfectly polite and in all my years, as I previously wrote, I encountered only one unpleasant shift manager. d- The produce is just FINE..not cheap but not exorbitant and of fine quality..I have never gotten poor produce. e- The poultry, especially chicken, which has engendered some complaints here, found in the huge meat dep't , is fresh and 95% of it is branded including major brands like Tyson, Perdue, etc. I cannot imagine what these complainers are writing about. f- Some of these cranks actually complain about pushy or obnoxious customers; first of all no store can control its customers and second, I have never, ever encountered in 15+ years, obnoxious customers. The store does a huge business (because it's so good) and so sometimes it's crowded. I hate to say this but I suspect this particular complaint comes from people who have ethnic bigotry against some of the Orthodox Jewish customers who shop here. read more

Absolutely Awful! I have been going here for years and never felt the need to write a review, since supermarkets in general are never really a great experience. But after what happened to me today, I decided to. I was just in there at 5pm, buying dinner for my family and decided to pick up some Italian bread for dinner. Being that it was so late in the day there was not so much of a selection, and it was hard to find one that wasn't incredibly burnt or stale. When I finally settled on one that was the least burnt looking, out of no where this extremely rude overweight and bald worker came over to me yelling that I need to stop messing up and touching his bread! Totally making a scene by his raised and rude voice. When meanwhile there wasn't a lot of bread left and the only reason I was taking awhile to pick was because they were all burnt and stale!!! I work in costumer service and there is no reason that this bread obsessed worker had to address me so abruptly, loudly and rudely! He could have nicely spoke to me in a manner which would not have caused a scene or upset me to the point where I felt the need to write a negative review! I was totally bread shamed for zero reason, other then the fact that he is just a miserable human being. read more

Shoprite brings back a lot of memories from me as a child. Who didn't grow up with the can-can song? Awesome! This location is, I think, the only one in Brooklyn - yet still has the large capacity of most suburban counterparts. As stated before, the deals are amazing. And if you do not have the club card, it is a valuable free investment, for you receive extra $$ off items. I do not live close to here and either bike or drive depending on weather. The parking is a big of a mess-- much better to basically give up on getting a spot close and suck it up for the underground lot. The people that work here are by and far really helpful and actually know where a random can of asparagus or specific rice is located. They all seem to get along, which is pretty nice to see as well. It is true that most issues arise from rude customers, and so if you want to have a relatively stress-free experience, try your BEST to not go during peak ours. Also, never go on a Friday. The place is jam packed and it is a slow torture. If you are like me, you will keep returning for the best deals in the entire city on lobster. I swear, it is almost every other week that the price is 6.99 lb. I love my Fairway and my Chinatown grocers (especially since both are SO MUCH CLOSER TO ME), but for that low a price, I will keep on coming back. Oh! And if you like ice cream, all major brands generally have a 2 for 1 sale going on. But really, the lobster. Sweet Jebus. read more

this store by far has the greatest selection of goods in the area. You can always find that uncommon ingredient you need somewhere in the aisles. The prices are reasonable and the circular offers even more savings. Food is fresh and sale items are always in stock. my biggest complaint and perhaps only complaint is the parking. It's a tiny narrow lot and depending on the time of day, can be a free for all with cars just stopped and waiting for spots to open. it can be annoying but you lower your risk of getting caught in this mess if you shop friday night or any early morning (like 7am). they do have a garage also with an elevator right outside the checkout to get down to your car. I frequent the market as I live nearby. Wide variety, worth the trip. The Produce Department definitely needs an upgrade. The Meat Department is Good. I've shopped here for over a decade now. I'm use to shopping here my only complaints are 1 yes it is dirty most of the time especially the bathroom which I have avoided for yrs lol. Then you have the parking lots both underground and above that needs a good sweeping. And 2 the produce most of the time horrible. I dont even bother to look to see if I will find a decent looking cucumber. I mean I know it cant always be perfect but probably the only thing i have and would buy form that section are the bananas, once in awhile clemintines. Hi people I would like to start this review by saying that this shoprite has good and bad things about it. The food quality is very good they bake fresh bagels every morning on a daily basis they have good donuts however the staff at the deli meat counter are very lazy they take very long to serve you a piece of meat like a whole hour and over all the staff is there as if they are robots as if they hate their life. The good quality is excellent superior and bananas are good but the staff needs serious training. especially the black young girls behind the counter are so lazy just to serve me one piece of meat takes a whole entire hour. read more

As far as I'm concerned the best supermarket in Brooklyn. They always have really great deals ($0.99 for a tub of mozzarella balls yesterday, marked down from nearly $5.00!), fresh fish, good meat and produce selection (although I wish they had a butcher counter). Been going to this Shoprite for a number of years. Sales are so-so lately. Don't know if it's because of the trashy economy or what. I've noticed over the years that the atmosphere or vibe in this place is deteriorating. Shoppers are losing their common sense and respect for other shoppers. For example, is it that difficult to pull your shopping cart to the side so others can pass? Is it so hard for them to understand that they're not the only ones in the supermarket? I don't blame Shoprite for this part. That's a societal problem but it's huge here. As for the employees, many (not all) of the employees have a terrible attitude. Especially the employees that are stocking. Over at the meat department, the tall lady with the big wavy blond hair and baseball style cap is very nasty. If you're looking at meat, she'll come up on you with a metal tray of freshly cut meat, slam the tray down nearly on top of you and then she'll fake an apology. Ask her a question and it's like how dare you even speak to her. Very nasty woman. The cashiers are another issue. (Not all but there's only a handful of very nice, pleasant cashiers) It's a struggle to get your heavy items double bagged. You have to remind them repeatedly and they have a bad, bad attitude. For example, they'll bag your things and then slam or toss your bags on the conveyor belt. I've had to ask what their problem is many times. Folks don't stay silent!! When they do that, ask them what their problem is and say it loud enough so others can hear. There's absolutely no need for them to be so rude. You have to nearly cause a scene to get them to snap out of it and correct themselves. If they're having a bad day or just dealt with a problem customer, I get it but don't take it out on the good customers! We just want to pick our items, pay for them and go home. If you say good morning or hello, many don't want to be bothered so you know almost immediately there's a good chance you're going to have a bad checkout. The cashier Managers or whatever they are.. the ones that supervise all the cashiers, huge attitude problem. Did I mention huge? Don't bother expressing your disappointment with the level of service you just received. They really don't give a "you know what" and they'll roll their eyes as you're walking away. What is going on with this Shoprite location??? ***UPDATE*** One of my favorite cashiers told me those Supervisors near Checkout are called "Front End" Managers. They should be called "Rear-end" Managers because they're totally useless. It's ... a supermarket. Nothing really wrong with it, if you want food because you don't want to starve to death, it's no worse than anyplace else if it's what's nearby. Except for the obstacle course created by your fellow shoppers. The customer base seems to be people who don't know or don't care that there are other people in the wold besides them, and that therefore they really can't block aisles, move slowly, or stand in front of a shelf endlessly picking through stuff (they also seem to be short, so 6'0" me is asked to get things down from high shelves). There are a lot of Orthodox Jews, which is why it's probably best to go between sundown Friday and sundown Saturday: place is empty. This is compounded by the fact that the employees seem to stock the shelves in the middle of the day without regard for whether *they're* in anyone's way. I can only assume they figure that, since they're open 24/7, they can't, by definition, restock when they're closed, so they may as well do it in the middle of the day, ignoring that while the store is just as open at 11 PM as at 11 AM, it probably isn't just as busy. read more

I would give this place 5 stars when it's not over crowded. Anyway we go to that store every week or two, usually after 8 pm, I think prices are reasonable, and great selection and good parking . We had not so nice experience only once, when our cashier was a teenage boy with piercings and tattoos. He was kinda giving us attitude and speaking to my hubby as he is his hommie and shouting to someone he is hungry and needs abreak while scanning our items at the last isle.
