They serve your normal Hawaiian food, but add their own spin on to it like their kimchi butter chicken Katsu, brulee musubi, etc. I can here because they had a bogo plate promotion. I ordered their famous Kimchi butter chicken Katsu plate and a brûlée musubi on the side. The order takes a while to make for a fast food place, so you gotta be patient Kimchi butter chicken katsu plate (4/5): this dish definitely looks better than it tastes. It comes with the chicken, a bed of rice, and a side of macaroni salad. The chicken was extremely tender and was glazed with the kimchi butter. However you can't taste too much flavor from it, but it does add a taste of sweetness on the chicken. The macaroni salad has a red spice on top of it but the macaroni salad as a whole had less flavor than your traditional macaroni salad and I couldn't really taste the red spice. For some reason I loved the musy bed of rice. Brûlée musubi (5/5):this musubi is glazed and torched with a cream on top as it comes in two pieces. I definitely loved this musubi because of its sweetness and how it reminds me of candy. Your typical Hawaiian food places definitely have better value because it's delicious and gets you full at a cheap price. I ordered the kimchi butter katsu chicken and it came with two scoops of rice and one scoop of mac (has tuna inside). I feel like the portion was a decent amount. Additionally, their seasoning has so much flavor and the chicken could be eaten on its own. Shootz has 3 locations in the LA area. Long Beach, Stanton, and Ontario. Today I went to the Long Beach location for the Facebook promotion. With the promotion you get the Jalapeno Garlic Shrimp Plate for free if you spend $25. The go to plate is the Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken. It's basically some katsu chicken smothered in a kimchi butter sauce. It's delicious. I got the combo which includes your choice of musubi, spam or honey coconut shrimp and a drink. Fountain drink included but upcharge for the lemonades. Upcharge is $2.50, pricey. My recommendation is do not get the combo. We got both kinds of musubi and neither was anything special. We got a strawberry pinapple lemonade and it does taste good, but with an upcharge of $2.50, I'll pass next time. We also paid extra for spam fried rice and that is really good but again a hefty upcharge, $3.99. Also, most fountain drinks were stock out. Next up is the Loco Moco. Good but nothing special. The egg was nicely cooked though. The over easy egg looked beautiful. The promo dish of Jalapeno Garlic Shrimp was super tasty. I would definitely consider ordering this next time. Overall, I enjoyed the food and will be back. They have lots of promos so it's great to bring first timers and regulars back. Its been there since the beginning days of Rodeo 39 and did a very good job with promotions and advertisement to make it a mainstay. Over the years, places have come and gone, but Shootz has still remained. Whenever I pass by, there always seems to be a big line (and for good reason). The first time i tried it, I ended up getting 2 Kimchi butter katsu chicken sandwiches ($15 for both) and 4 honey coconut shrimp musubis ($7.99). The sandwiches were excellent with the crispiness of the fried chicken, the softness and creaminess of the mac salad, and the buttery bun were all just great combinations. Who wouldnt love this? To be fair, it is a little heavy, but its suppose to be that way. The honey coconut shrimp musubi was also good, but maybe a little too much mayo for my liking. It was nice that you could actually taste the shrimp and the coconut breading though.
