Very competently run. I've never seen a safety violation get past the range master. Very safe range.

Well run and organized. Terrific staff who are helpful and supportive. I enjoy every time I go which is at least twice a month

We like being able to practice in the open air and the range masters keep things safe.

My wife and I went there last week to shoot our handgun and shotgun. The lady at the registration office was very polite and helpful. A little out of the way, but it's nice for a city range. Pretty big and has everything you need. They usually host the NM Outdoor Expo every summer and it's always a great event put on by a great set of staff- activities for the kids, shotgun, muzzleloaders, pistols, .22's, archery, rock climbing, and atlatl. read more

I came out this past weekend with my godson and his friends for a bachelors day trap shoot. I came from Austin where I shoot and was bringing young guys (24-25ish) to introduce them to something new. Upon arrival the sign in process was very easy. The desk directed us to the skeet/trap range where we met Frank who was going to be working with us. Frank is the reason I'm leaving this review. He was incredibly patient, informative and helpful to the young men who had never shot. He gave them tips and pointers and made them feel comfortable about having never shot a shotgun. He kept score for us and turned it into an exciting competition. By the days end they were all knocking clays out of the sky and can't wait to buy shotguns to go again. They all complimented him on the way home and we could have not had a more fun time, all in part to a very clean range and Frank, whose help opened young men's eyes to a sport that I hope they return to. Really? The pictures look the same, but after reading the other reviews i can't believe I've been going to the same place. Been here many times over the past ten years and will agree, the facility is nice. Would have been a lot more except for the fact that the range staff are (with one exception) bigger jerks than the staff at Calibers, and THATS saying something. It usually takes a while to forget our last experience before we go again. This last time (today), a man was shooting in the spot next to ours with his daughter. He must have been new to the range, or his daughter was handling the firearm when the ceasefire was called, because the firearm wasn't properly cleared. One of the range staff noticed this when clearing the line. In proper jerk fashon, he immediately attempted to clear a weapon he CLEARLY didn't understand, without a backwards glance, question, or comment to the owner. This despite the fact that one of his colleagues said "Doesn't the owner know how to do it?" Unswayed, jerk No.1 continued to wrestle with the pistol until, you probably guessed, accidentally discharging a round down range. After much complaining about how the accidental discharge hurt his hearing, jerk No.1 informs the owner his safety doesn't work "at all". During the following live-fire, the owner shows jerk No.1 how his pistol should be handled to avoid accidentally discharging it. Also, surprise, the safety works fine and everything goes back to normal for about a minute. Enter jerk No.2 asking the beleaguered owner if he is firing the same weapon that was accidentally discharged. It is? "Well, we don't want that firearm on our range." So he made the owner pack it up, despite the fact that it was in perfect working order and as safe as any other weapon on the range. Which means, safe as long as it's not in the hands of egotistical, know-it-all, range staff. Apologies to the only friendly, helpful member of the range cadre mentioned above (the colleague). You deserve better. So, to sum up, I like the facility itself. Unfortunately, the staff are consistently rude, overbearing, egotistical jerks. Add negligent into the mix and you're lucky one star is the lowest rating you can get. To jerk No.1: you should also consider yourself lucky (despite any hearing loss). The only thing separating you from big headlines, a bigger lawsuit, and jail time is you didn't hit anyone. Or you could be dead... read more

This place is great. The staff are friendly and able to answer all questions about the range. They constantly clean up the bullet/shell casings that fall all over the ground. There are periods of ceasefire that allow you to look at your targets, change their distance, or even take a smoke break. The range itself allows for close up shooting all the way to long range. The covering is made out of material which helps with all the noise forms the guns. There is no reverberated noise from the guns. It's a little bit of a drive but the drive is worth it for the quality of the range. read more

Located west of Double Eagle II airport on the west side of Albuquerque, easiest way to get there is take I-40 west to Arroyo Vista Blvd, then head north for a couple of miles until you see the signs for the Shooting Range Park. The access road is also about a mile long, and it's not paved the whole way. They're closed Monday and Tuesday, and only restrict tracer rounds and fully-automatic fire. The entrance fee on the open range gets you one free paper target, and you tape or staple it to a portable frame which can be set into posts in the ground during cold-range times. They have loudspeakers, and call the range alternating hot and cold to allow setting new targets. They will make you lock your actions open and check everyone's firearms before allowing the range to be cold (yes, this includes during a dust-storm, which is all too common out that far on the mesa.) I've only been on the rifle range, but they do have a skeet and trap area. A couple of the SAAS groups meet out at this range for their practices and fun-events. read more

Great for the most part. Check in staff is friendly and helpful. Range staff kind of surly and condescending. Haven't shot in years, took my new gun out, would be nice if the range staff welcomed you to the "ranks," instead of acting "put out" by your presence. read more

This was the first real shooting range I've been to and only the third time I've been shooting. Their prices are great compared to the indoor ranges in town. They are strict, but I think that is completely reasonable given the potential danger associated with improper firearm handling. Despite being strict, the range masters were quite helpful and willing to answer any questions you have, especially if you're unsure of how to navigate the range as I was. In addition, they repeatedly gave me tips on how to better handle my new firearm, but made sure to do so in a way that wasn't patronizing. I'm definitely looking to spend more time here developing my skills. I also really appreciate the fact that they have ear protection available in case you forget yours. read more

Came out to the range with my husband and son to get some time in with our firearms. The staff members are very nice, informative and have an overall great personality. Since I'm pretty green in terms of shooting,one of the gentlemen (aside from my husband) took the time to show me how to hold the pistol properly, gave some tips and made a solid effort not to make me self conscious about not knowing anything, lol. I appreciate that immensely since it can be a little intimidating being in an element you're not familiar with. Overall, all of us had a blast and we'll definitely be back! read more

I rather go to this range than calibers the cost to go to this range is excellent the staff is nice and courteous and everytime i go the staff remembers me and compliments me. I'm never going to set foot in calibers again and I don't mind making the trip to this range. At least when you walk into this range people respect you and greet you. read more

As an experienced shooter of 35 years and retired military; I experienced some issues with this range. I was teaching my wife how to shoot my 1911 and the range observer's were basically sitting on top of us. They interjected often which took the fun out of teaching her and shooting. It was really annoying, especially when we were doing nothing wrong. Towards the end of the visit, I asked if we should police up our spent brass. They replied, "No its not necessary unless you are reloading." I did want my .45 brass, not the 7.62X39 and .22. My previous ranges, you leave it like you found it--clean. They said after the range is clear I could step past the cement and get my casings. That's exactly what I did and the same guy has a conniption!? It took some self control on my part not to call him out. I will not return to this range. read more

My son is a competitive shotgun shooter and we visited the clay target center of this range yesterday. What a beautiful range. The gentleman who checked us in at main office was very friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable. After you check in at office you drive a couple miles out to the clay target portion. The clay target facilities were impressive. Facilities were well maintained with nice equipment, shooting tables, seating areas, shade, a clubhouse with water and restroom facilities and multiple trap and skeet fields. The views are gorgeous and the people out there were very nice. We are from out of town and ended up shooting a couple rounds with some locals who were very supportive of my junior shooter. Looking forward to going back for a shoot someday. read more

Majority of employees just yell. Example with friemds and family all shooing my ammo which i reload. Too much to pick up every time the range is hot. So when they take the brass cart around i stepped in front of him and asked him to go around i needed to pick of my brass still. He said ok ill go around, so i moved then he just kept going right over all my brass. I then proceeded to step in front of thier line again and pick up my brass. Which was only met by yelling from all directions. I asked for a supervisor none came forward just more yelling about thier precious line. Long story short the least professional range i have ever been to. But since its a city run establishment i expect nothing more. read more
