Then, at 6:30 pm, you have four lanes devoted for lap swimming, however, two of these lanes are issued to a high school team which is supervised by a coach. So the truth is that from 6:30 pm to 8pm you offer 2 lanes for city lap swimming; unfortunately, that's not all. I spoke with David this evening who identified himself as the supervisor for the pool area; he is a respectful and a friendly young man. I explained to him that in the two lanes offered for lap swimming there are people doing calisthenics and jogging today but last week there were snorkeling. He explained, he meant to have his lifeguards enforce lap swimming but he has not done it yet. So in fact the Los Altos Pool offers the citizens of Albuquerque one lane of lap swimming on Friday from 6:30pm to 8 pm. I hope they update the description of what is actually happening so adults driving here are not surprised every week.

Sadly, the staff could do a better job of keeping them clean, but they're not disgusting or anything. The pool is 25 meters, not yards, which is nice. The water is the warmest of all the pools which is great for someone who hates cold water. Sometimes in the winter, the air can get too cool (true of all city pools), so even though the water is warm, the air is not (sometimes). Still overall the best pool in the city for lap swimming. Wish they had better hours but that's a staffing issue and hopefully that will get better.

I live close by in the North Valley and my dog and I walk down here at least twice a week, make the loop and walk back up the Albuquerque Drain Trail home. What a great facility. It's the terminus of the "jewel in the crown" ABQ Open Space Bike trail, has an excellent parking lot and you can walk or bike from here in four directions on trails that take you all over the Alameda and Corrales Rio Grande Open Space. the trees, the plants, the two ponds and the trails are excellent. My dog, Sophie, also gives it a five-star rating as well. I last week photographed fruit blossoms there and have photographed birds as well. Love it here!

In my experience, it's been a great spot for enjoy enjoying the beautiful weather and taking a brisk walk with friends. I do recommend being cautious about your surroundings and staying in the more populated areas as I've done a few volunteer cleanups in the area and as you get into the brush, you never know what you'll find. The views of the mountains are absolutely gorgeous and the wildlife are very entertaining to watch.

We didn't make it to the 3rd one. The catch ponds are supposed to be stocked. Can't say for sure because we weren't fishing today. Just a nice leisurely puppy walk along the trail. Too warm to stay on the pavement or gravel areas so it was a short walk.
