Tiguex park is a perfect park for a spring stroll or a picnic with friends. I love the proximity to old town as well as the overall amount of space available to stroll around and enjoy the park setting. The park is also conveniently located across from Explora and the natural history Museum. You'll find vendors walking around selling things like ice cream or you can even go over to one of the shops in old town and grab yourself a treat. There is a basketball court, Swing sets and more for the whole family to enjoy. The only downside is, there is currently construction on mountain, which makes getting to the park a little trickier than it should be, but that is obviously temporary .

Nice sunny day at the park

Nice park centrally located next to Old Town and the Albuquerque Museum. Lots of picnic tables and recreational courts. Perfect for a walk on a cool, sunny morning.

Tiguex Park is an AOK park to stop at whenever you visit Old Town and/or any of the museums on Museum row. It's got walkways with benches along them, a fitness trail with exercise equipment, and even a playground. Be forewarned: This park isn't a good place to find yourself after dusk during the week; it would also be a good idea to start heading home in the late afternoon on weekends. Why? Albuquerque's got a substantial homeless population. If you use good judgement and visit when it's broad daylight with lots of people around, this park can be a very enjoyable place. Stay safe!

This park is a wonderful place to get out with family and friends. The equipment in the park is well maintained and in good condition. It is a great place for a picnic.

The concrete pyramid calf conditioner... Thingy.

The Good: Huge open field for school kids and competitive sports. Plenty of room for picnics and day trippers to relax, lots of tables and benches. The playground hosts a wealth of swings(6), plus two buckets: limited radius. Two play areas and a great hill/steps area to toughen those kiddie calves. Two rocking metal animals on springs (RMAOS?) that I haven't seen many other places. Unusual play structures, plenty to monkey around on, and the structure as a whole connects as a circle, geared mainly to the older more mechanically-inclined set. Wood chips. The Bad: A little unsafe for the toddler set, translating to a lot of parental guidance and heartache. No shade. The Verdict: A nice break from museum outings with the family, and a decent centrally-located space to show off the city. Some trees around the perimeter allow limited shade for those who just want a spot to cool off.

Between the museums, Sawmill District, and Old Town plaza, this is a great location to spend a weekend afternoon. Plenty of shade and room to walk our dog. We were excited to even find a couple of trees close enough to set up our hammocks! With every public park, there will be groups of homeless or sketchy people, but in my experience there aren't many here and they keep to themselves.

A beautiful spring day at the park

I love this park, for many reasons. First, it's close to my house, although that's not the main reason. Secondly, it's huuuuuuge. Ok, not THAT huge, but it's large compared to other parks in the area. Thirdly...ok, we can't continue in list form - there's too many good features of this park. This park boasts large, open spaces for playing futbol, tossing a frisbee, running around, etc. I love to run through here on the large paved walkways that wind through the park. Multiple sets of playground equipment are available, letting all of the kids present enjoy the park at once. Basketball courts are available, and, my favorite part, exercise equipment. I'm a sucker for a park that has built-in exercise equipment that you use with your body. A free gym for the public - what's not to love?! There's also an abundance of old, majestic trees that provide shade as you lounge in the deep green grass absorbed in the latest fiction bestseller. So, yes, there are many reasons to love this park. Get out there and discover your own!

Beautiful park with lots of shade. Lots of trash overflow in the receptacles which took away from some of the beauty.

A birthday party would probably be a great success here, especially with supplemental kites or frisbees or other throwing things. The grassy field is sizable enough for kickball and other such terrain-sprawling sport. We had a compelling game of pine one ninja (think live-action fruit ninja, sub Dowel rods and pine cones). There's a quaint earthen walking path on the far side of the park that, I believe, leads to a pedestrian sidewalk passing over I40 and leading to the Winrock mall. There's also A bunch of well-maintained tennis courts, which I thought were for public use but appear to be restricted access... tennis club or something? I don't know for sure; better check with google on that. There's imposing chain link fences surrounding them, and while tunneling under may be difficult due to the asphalt and turf perimeter, you could probably climb them if you really wanted to play when the courts were closed. * Yelp does not condone criminal trespassing, and their views are not necessarily reflected in my satirical advice on circumventing restricted access. One star deducted because of bathroom access. There's one in that... tennis club?... building, but of course your bladder relief is then at the mercy of their hours of operation. Go play here. Just go pee first.

What I particularly love is that it has a very dog friendly vibe and I could take my dog for a walk steps from my home, knowing that it's a safe place for him and for me. The park is pretty clean. I think people who visit this park do a great job of cleaning up after themselves (minus a few dog poops that I saw around a park, which I hoped was due to unintentional unnotice of dog owners...and not intentionally leaving them there!). The park has both sand and grass area...they clean regularly (their trash is never full!) and provide free dog poop bags for those who forget to bring their own as well. The only drawback is that aside from a few big trees around a park, there's really not much shaded areas for you to hide from the heat. So, make sure you come when it's not 85F+ out. For me, since I live super close by...this temperature/no shade area isn't an issue for me. However, if you are walking from afar or driving here...maybe time it well so you or your loved ones (kids or dogs) don't get heat stroke!

There is a lot of fantastic park equipment for kids as well as plenty of grass and trees for ambiance. A lot of people love to walk their dogs here and it's a great place to do it!
