Clean park with nice shade trees. Play area is specifically designed for kids ages 2 to 5. Only downside is only partial shade over the playground so structures are hot.

Best park in Albuquerque OR Rio Rancho. ONLY downside is that It can get busy though and parking…read morecan be scarce so pick your times to go. Lots of fun things for kids of all ages to do with plenty of play areas regardless of age groups. This includes a splash pad, slides and all kids of cool stuff I wish I had available to me when I was a kid...also I was really glad to see the park has swings and things integrated throughout for those who have special needs. Rio Rancho did it right over at that Park Above. Oh there is a dog park there too!

A beautiful park. But a misleading message for the disabled…read more The park celebrates allowing children of all abilities to play. This is portrayed in pictures and sculptures. BUT, when we visited to use the wheelchair swings (a rarity in lots of places) - the swings were chained down and there was a sign with a phone number that said to call to have them unlocked. Unfortunately, we had driven almost an hour exclusively to visit this park only to find out you have to call to have the swings unlocked. The saddest part is that they are chained to the ground. So, then you are standing (sitting rather) looking at the possibility for fun, but you cannot use them. Long story short, no one came to unlock the swings although we called multiple numbers. (It makes sense that the swings would be locked as they could potentially be dangerous if someone where to misuse them or leave the ramp down and an able bodied child trip over them. But if this park is going to have a major aspect of its marketing be about inclusion then shouldn't there be a person present at all times to unlock one of the few features that is truly accessible? Let's face it the child with disabilities can't realistically use the slides and various other items able bodied kids can, so perhaps the approach to the swings should be re-evaluated). The park is so beautiful and really looks like a lot of fun for children and families. It is clean and spacious. There is a nice walking path around it. There is a water feature for kids who want to get out of the heat. There is exercise equipment which is accessible. There is even an area for dogs if you insist on bringing yours (although most of the park is off limits to dogs). This park looks great for both adults and children. It is also secured with safety latches on the gates so kids can't accidentally escape. Had we known one had to call ahead we would have. Thus, this is a cautionary tale. The park is fabulous BUT IF YOU NEED ACCESSIBILITY CALL FIRST.

The playground…read moreis big enough to maintain a kid's interest and enthusiasm for at least an hour, and there's plentiful seating in both shady and sunny spots. A birthday party would probably be a great success here, especially with supplemental kites or frisbees or other throwing things. The grassy field is sizable enough for kickball and other such terrain-sprawling sport. We had a compelling game of pine one ninja (think live-action fruit ninja, sub Dowel rods and pine cones). There's a quaint earthen walking path on the far side of the park that, I believe, leads to a pedestrian sidewalk passing over I40 and leading to the Winrock mall. There's also A bunch of well-maintained tennis courts, which I thought were for public use but appear to be restricted access... tennis club or something? I don't know for sure; better check with google on that. There's imposing chain link fences surrounding them, and while tunneling under may be difficult due to the asphalt and turf perimeter, you could probably climb them if you really wanted to play when the courts were closed. * Yelp does not condone criminal trespassing, and their views are not necessarily reflected in my satirical advice on circumventing restricted access. One star deducted because of bathroom access. There's one in that... tennis club?... building, but of course your bladder relief is then at the mercy of their hours of operation. Go play here. Just go pee first.

Next to the Albuquerque Museum is the Tiguex Park, which is pretty large for a community park. I…read morewas here twice during my stay in Albuquerque, NM. Once late evening and once mid morning. I had time to kill so I came to this park on two separate occasions. Not that I wanted to, but I just so happened that I did twice. This community park is fairly large but smallest size. The grass is green and looks like it's been well maintained by the city of Albuquerque, or at least the local people who are assigned to maintain it. During my experience here at Tiguex Park, it was not much people here besides me walking around and 48° weather, so not much action here. Even if it was in the middle of the day or the evening, not much people are out and about, at least here during this timing of the year at early November. I basically walked thru the park and observed the motionless playground equipment that was installed here. No foot traffic but just my footsteps on a chilly fall / winter day. The grass was green. Everything seemed perfect and normal here, minus the people in the community that goes behind it. I feel that he's here being that I was on vacation. It was nice to just casually walk through and admire the park for what it is. It was nice and definitely peaceful here. I did not go on any of the play structures that the children and some adults use in this park because I may get injured and I didn't want that. And so, this is a typical community park in old town of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nothing too special about it, but it was nice and spacious for anybody and everyone to come and enjoy these outdoor spaces. The over experience here at Tiguex Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico was pretty cool, inviting, and invigorating. I managed to find a sitting area and just sit for about 20 to 30 minutes each time. I was here to enjoy the landscape that was Albuquerque, and taking the fact that I was on vacation and needed a little breather. There was not much people here at all, so I had to place all to myself. I was on the way to find lunch and came across this park. The area is beautiful and you can tell us it was maintained daily. The grass is definitely greener than most parks that I've come across so that's a good thing. There's no security here, just wide open space for the community to play. For the most part though, my experience here at Tiguex Park was good and relaxing. But that's it. It is definitely clean and very welcoming for those who like to utilize the park for play and mental health. It is definitely a good place to be if you're in Albuquerque, New Mexico . With that said, it is definitely recommended for you if you have time to spare just to check this place out. I know I did it and I am better for it. Tiguex park is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the old town District. It is across the street from the Albuquerque Museum. The address is physically at 1234 Main St. here in Albuquerque. Like all community parks around the country, there is no admission fee. Free, free free. It is awesome to have simple pleasures be free. As far as parking goes, your best bet would be to find street parking wherever you can find it. As for me, though, I ended up being at the two New Mexico museums in the area and happen to be walking through the park afterwards. I was dropped off by either a friend of mine who lives in the area or via Uber. Not sure about if Albuquerque public transportation system, if they can get you through here, but best bet is to check online to be sure. Of course, there's always Uber and enough to get you here or anywhere you want to go. For the most part though, they enjoyment of this park. In Albuquerque was invaluable and a good one. If you're ever in town, swing by here and enjoy it because it is that good. I guarantee it. 5.0 stars for the over experience. Support local! A+

Those people are always a good sign that the scene is going to be on the down-low. My daughter tore into this elaborate play structure themed to resemble an explorer's ship (Columbus, I assume) and a small thatched hut village (the natives he and his crew systematically eradicated upon arrival). Slides, hiding spots, climbing poles and ropes galore. Throughout the rest of the park: four tennis courts (funny how the north valley has so many more of these, per capita), two basketball half courts (strangely situated so a full court game cannot be played), and a wide open field for sporting and otherwise. The Bad: Sand. No shade, save the plastic mock palm trees that shelter the plastic mock thatch village. No bucket swings. The Verdict: In a terrific twist of ABQ fate, we were treated to a truly local New Mexican scene. Two moms, two kids and three chihuahuas suddenly arrived, running rampant over the grounds. One of the mutts agitated the retriever, sending That Metal Detector Guy to the soccer field. The kids were sweet and playful, their parents quite attentive (not standing around staring at their cell phones, which is typical) and the dogs delighted my daughter. This is a great place to frolic, young and old alike, clean and well cared for.

As time went on I would take my children there to play in the playground and also to chase balls for us as we played tennis. I believe they have three tennis courts, they have a newly updated play area for the children and they have a few swings which I think are oddly place far away from the Ramada. The Ramada has three tables. There are no restrooms there but one water fountain and plenty of green grass to let your children run and play or play Frisbee or to play catch or to play soccer or even just to lay down and enjoy a nice day staring at the sky. There's a walkway around the park where you can get your exercise in, there's plenty of off-street parking although at night time there's no lighting and it's surrounded by new homes with, in my opinion, not as friendly homeowners as before the area was redone. This is not one of the bigger parks it doesn't have two play areas just one play area where the older kids and the younger kids all have to learn to play and share together. We like to have our birthday parties at this park because first it has a Ramada and secondly it's close to our home in case anyone needs the restroom. It serves its purpose.
