Calibers now adds a 3% credit card fee on gun purchases, which wasn't charged before -- something to keep in mind when price shopping. They also stopped with the free range pass/discount card when purchasing a firearm. At this point, places like Cabela's are usually cheaper/better and don't add extra fees. I was a longtime Calibers member and really appreciated their range and membership program. They once offered great perks -- like unlimited free gun rentals . During the COVID years, I kept my membership even though ammo was scarce and the rental benefit couldn't really be used, just to support the business. Unfortunately, when ammo prices and supply improved, Calibers dropped those key benefits and introduced new memberships with much less value. I chose not to convert to the new membership program since it no longer offered the same perks. The range itself is still nice, but I wish there were more local options. Overall, it feels like the focus has shifted away from customer loyalty and value. I really hope they bring back what made Calibers stand out in the first place. read more

I went in on Monday (3-24-2025) a slow day for sure with several workers at the counter and no other customers in site. I wanted to rent a lane for handgun shooting. The clerk handed me a pad for sign-up and then just took off. The pad went dead and all of the available do nothing employees just ignored me for several minutes. I have to clearly state that I got the message and will never be back. I walked out and nobody seems to care. Please Calibers management: do not say your are sorry with some lame excuse, I do not buy it. Way to many other low score reviews. I've been going to Calibers 5 or 6 times a year since they opened. I'll keep this short. The place has gone steadily downhill. The shooting lanes need to be updated. Target trolley keypads are hit and miss. They seldom have the targets I want and some of the employees could use some education in people skills. I really appreciate an indoor range especially in the winter and summer months, but lately the Calibers experience makes the long drive to the city range not so bad. Was visiting Albuquerque; usually stop with my brother-in-law to go shooting at Calibers while wives, etc. shop. This time, my 29-year old daughter decided she wanted to come shooting with us. You guys have got to address the attitudes. Watching the members arrive for the shoot today was unpleasant. Watch the CCTV, it's written on everyone's faces. Perhaps do the undercover boss thing, it will be very obvious. There are a few employees that need recognition and reward: the young lady that works the gun counter, dresses professional, great attitude, works hard and never negative, I can't compliment her professionalism enough. She's always there. The older gentleman with glasses, short well kept gray hair, with the best attitude, comes on the range, offers encouragement to shooters, very customer service oriented, such a great example of what your CS could be. Younger guy working the front today with glasses, he's doing well, he's polite and attentive. Ryan, the employees that are dragging Caliber East down in these comments with poor attitudes and zero CS proficiency need to be checked, they're pushing walk-ins, members, merch and gun sales away. We had an absolute blast here. Two friends and I each got the last package, the Atomic Boom or something, and had as good a time as you can. The workers were all fantastic, super knowledgeable and a pleasure. Shooting the 50 caliber was a thrill, but the machine guns were even more awesome. I feel like you can do that without negatively impacting the personal protection of anyone choosing to enter your store. Open carry is not an inherently unsafe activity. 3/22/2023 Left my vintage "Baby" Browning my husband gave me in 1966 to be cleaned last week....I called today and they said it was ready but that a piece was broken off....said it was wood...I went straight there because there was no wood on my Browning Baby, and it definitely was not broken when I left it?...short story...they broke the left gun grip, and had the broken piece just lying in the zipped case.....no offer to step up and replace it..no acknowledgement that they broke it by Adam.....who offered to order me one for twice the vintage parts catalog cost.....and then charged me 53.dollars ....they are not a very honorable business if they can break your gun and then offer to charge you double to replace the broken piece they broke, and never talk about how it happened...Adam said,"it is old".. Yes, I carefully explained its' age and 30 years of non use...when I left it there ......but cared for carefully....I just paid and left....expensive lesson.....I would suggest a more trustworthy business for your future repairs...... I WISH TO ADD TO THIS REVIEW TODAY.... I gave them a one Star review on 3/22(see above)..... and thought that was it.....then recently I was contacted by the Senior Store Manager of Calibers, Robert Pohl, saying that that he wanted to fix this situation...and that his Head Gunsmith , Jandoshua Rector, would be contacting me.... and he did...and he asked me to bring my Baby Browning in and they would replace the broken grip with the appropriate grips, clean it again, repair it, test fire it, at no cost to me...So a surprised me took it in, met Joshua and left the pistol.......and I picked it up this morning... and it looked wonderful...as good as it looked in 1966 when my husband bought it for me at Andy Andersons in Oklahoma City.... I am thrilled and grateful and wished to add my current review as of today....five stars to Robert Pohl, Joshua Rector, and Calibers....they are competent and honorable people ... and my advice is just to deal with the top folks if you want something done right....and stand up for yourself...and they replaced both grips, so that they would match. No 380 range ammo but they have defensive rounds. Take it or leave it ,at least that's the impression that they gave us. Been there before. Rented weapons and range time. First time with our own pistol , we took a CCP class elsewhere. We will never go back. If it could have been less with a membership, no one could have been bothered. After a 2 year hiatus from target practice I figured it was time for me to get my arse back to the range. I had never been to Calibers before and, up until now, had been content with gambling on whether the day would be sunny and warm enough to travel to the west side to the city range to practice my aim. I decided to take control of my schedule and venture to Calibers. Although it was a little pricey, $25 for one shooter and an additional $15 for a second, it was nice to be indoors in a climate controlled environment. The gentleman that assisted us with checking in was very friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. He didn't make me feel incompetent because I am a woman at a shooting range. If you don't own your own firearm but still desire to practice your shot they offer a large selection of guns to use/rent while you're there. You will need to purchase ammunition as well if you don't supply your own. Very nice establishment. Very friendly employees. read more

My husband I decided to go to Calibers. I've never even touched a gun in my life, so I figured I'd try a new hobby. The staff acted like we were a nuisance to them as soon as we got there tho. We told them we had never been, but they still weren't very helpful. I was hoping someone would give us info on classes they had available, or even give us some type of spiel about how the range works, or at least a little info on the rental units but nothing. My husband finally implied he wanted more info and the attendant just gave him a weird look and went over it in 2 min. but didn't even try to show me. Pretty sweet spot to blow up some rounds! And might I mention if you have never shot a 50 caliber round before and have always dreamed of doing so without having to buy the actual rifle, this is the place to go to be able to just rent and shoot one! It was my husband's birthday weekend and he wanted to add to his man card by shooting this heavy loaded arsenal. I believe the only thing we had to pay was for each round to shoot which was 10$ each. I think he wanted to shoot 5 of them. He wanted me to try it too but after watching his first round shot with the whole damn building feeling like an earthquake, I passed up on it for now. I'm only 5 feet tall and didn't wanna risk my little shoulder to be injured for now. The place was set nicely set up with their counter in the middle to better assist anyone throughout the store. The guns and rifles on display were well organized and had an excellent variety, especially for all the weapons you can rent out to shoot at their indoor range. I was honest with the man at the counter - I hadn't shot in years. He asked me what I wanted to shoot, and I just said "a handgun." He smirked and showed me around the display cases. Once I selected the gun I wanted to shoot, he took me step by step through the operation of the gun. From unloading the magazine to proper hand position to looking through the sights, he covered all the bases. There was no pressure, I never once felt like I was being rushed or judged. They wanted me to be safe, be comfortable, and enjoy the experience. 4. There's something invigorating about firing a gun. The adrenaline, the power, the velocity; it excites so many senses. With "guns" streaming in news headlines, I wanted to become more comfortable with them, but in a safe and non-threatening way, and that was and is easily achievable at Calibers. Just went here for the first time. Great store and range! The people were super nice and very helpful. The range rules were spot on, totally reasonable. Range fees were also reasonable. I worry about getting shafted on ammo at ranges, but Calibers seems to be in line with other places in town. Only bummer is that they had no 10mm in stock. On the plus side, if you have always wanted to pre tent to be Rambo, and you have a couple hundred dollars to spend, then you can come here, rant one of several full-auto weapons, and blow off some serious ammo. You have to buy their ammo, of course, but that's no different than anywhere. In fact, you can try out a wide array of guns in case you are in the market or just want to try something different. Any, best of all, they have a Yelp offer where you basically get $20 off your fees! How cool is that?!? read more

Last week I took the Concealed Carry Permit Course with Gary Antal as the Calibers instructor. Gary is professional, riveting and most importantly knowledgeable. Gary exposed the class to up to date facts, rules and the state of concealed carry in NM - very worthwhile. Plus, Calibers/West-side is just a great place to do this. I have also been a Calibers member three times over the past 20 years and am about to sign up again - convenient, great staff, well-kept facilities and offering any and every piece of equipment and/or service you could want at reasonable prices. Anyone who says otherwise about Calibers has not been around to and shot in facilities located in other states as I have. We are lucky here in New Mexico to have Calibers. Came in today to rent a firearm and get in some range time. Having never fired a fully automatic AK before they were super helpful in demonstrating function and form prior to and at the lane inside the range. It was a lot of fun and for a great price. Contrary to what some other reviews say I felt really well respected in there and the range officer who came out with me even took a video for me. I didn't catch your name but you know who you are if you're reading this. When I see a gun shop with multiple location I immediately think of premium $$$ in their prices. I was pleasantly surprised that some were priced at retail and some a little below. They had a decent selection of accessories for all kinds of firearms. A bonus for LE types - they are a Glock blue label dealer. There was an indoor range with the option to rent various guns to try before you buy. The store was clean and well organized and range as clean as it can be. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We didn't buy this time but when we have a need or desire to do something with firearms this will be our 1st stop. read more
