SHOOT SAFE LEARNING IS LOCATED AT 1827 W. 208th St Torrance, CA 90501. It is located inside of SOCAL SHARPSHOOTERS, which you will see is located at the above address. This may not be an up to date, state of the art range, but the instructors are state of the art quality! They leave their ego at the door. All instructors are highly trained, highly skilled professionals who teach with respect, humor and thoroughness. Edmund Tan is an extremely experienced instructor who makes sure that you understand the material covered. The other instructors are also extremely well qualified by way of their professions. Law Enforcement, Military and Security backgrounds give them first hand knowledge. SAFETY is ALWAYS number 1 priority. It is not optional, it is not negotiable. The range itself is not top quality; however, the class instructors are a cut above. I've been going there and attending classes for over a year. I will compromise range quality for instruction from men who care about my firearms education and pushing me at skill building. None of them have attitudes, egos or pissing matches. Education and safety ARE top priority. Other ranges may be more up to date, but they won't give you the one on one, non biased attention. If you have a chip on your shoulder and think you know it all and have all the answers; please go somewhere else. There are other nearby ranges who will be happy to argue, have those pissing matches, insist on having the last word, and scoffing at you and/or belittling you. And they won't charge you extra for those services. The other staff who operate range check in, ammo/target sales...they are sorely in need of Customer Service and People skills. I can't lie about that. But if you have your own guns and ammo, or just need to check in for range time, and they are rude or disrespectful; just be the bigger person and kindly tell them that their Customer Service are sorely lacking and it's bad for business. Change will happen. Support the local business; not the current "Trendy Place". read more

Great team of knowledgeable people that know firearms and most importantly safety! This group makes people feel welcome and is NOT testosterone filled. Great learning environment for all levels! Highly recommend! read more

Just took the Basic Pistol class to learn about basic handgun safety and how to actually shoot a gun. Edwin, Ken, Jim, etc., were amazing instructors and all were very informative and helpful with assessing our techniques. I highly recommend this class and this company for leaning everything you need and want to know about gun safety and facts. read more

Awesome experience! Edmund and staff were excellent instructors. Very informative on gun safety, proper handling and shooting.

So...I just finished taking the Skill Builder Pistol course and the instructor, Edmund, was awesome as usual. There were only 6 people in the class, which was perfect for me to get the personal attention that I needed. It was fun, informative, and I feel much more comfortable safely handling a gun. Dirk and Jim were the 2 other very knowledgeable instructors who were assisting us. I plan to sign up for the home defense class next. Thank you Shoot Safe Learning! read more

Have taken a couple of courses with Edmund, and each time has been a great experience. Edmund has the experience and knowledge capable of training you and pushing your skill set with a firearm to the next level. His classes are usually assisted by a number of other instructors to ensure everyone gets ample amount of attention. Compare to other training available around the Los Angeles area, this is well worth it. read more

Lots of fun very knowledgeable! Instructor spend plenty of time with each of the students explaining things. I highly recommend these professionals. The prices were extremely fair and well worth every penny. read more

Me and my girlfriend took the intro pistol class and we learned a lot and had a good time. We wanted to get our gun permit but wanted to take a class first. The class is very informative and with lots of good hands on activities. The instructor took all his guns and we were able to practice safely unloading a weapon. They are 100% committed to safety, so much that even I was like "ok I'm sure there is no bullet in there no need to triple check" but I understand why and shows the professionalism. We were able to shoot 25-30 rounds. We also signed up to take the permit exam right after and we did and passed. We will be purchasing our guns soon and once we get a couple of range days behind us for practice we are considering taking some more advanced classes with them. read more

Received my NRA Pistol Orientation certificate through this school and was more than satisfied with the course. The instructor was very knowledgeable and friendly and the fees are quite reasonable. The only reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 is because I'm not a huge fan of the shooting range where the classes take place. read more

I recently signed up based on the Yelp Reviews. The first steps pistol class with Edmund was as good as people were saying. Here is the rundown: The instructors are solid, approachable and patient. I felt that I was learning all the basics I would need and then some. If you are looking for a basic skill refresher or a complete ground-up instruction this is a great class. They had 4 instructors for a class of about 20 and each was well experienced and full of knowledge ( support instructors include a veteran officer that is very solid to learn from as well) -- Re Sharpshooter Sharpshooter doesn't feel like a luxury spa but it does the job. Along with the class works great. If you are new to ranges and want a lot of supervision or support (outside of class) and the latest modern equipment might want to start somewhere else, but really nothing wrong with it, and the broken-in atmosphere is kinda cool for a range.. Heard the comments but when I was there people at the counter were more friendly than many of the ranges I've been to since. Bottom line is I'll be back. -- Ok I digress - For 100 bucks this is class is a steal - includes about 50 rounds of live fire training with an instructor alongside. Also the instructors are knowledgable, cool, and mellow , would be fine recommending it to any of my my family or friends. read more

This is an excellent investment that every new owner should take. They stress gun safety above all else so you will come out of class very aware that safety is paramount to gun ownership. I took their Utah CCW class and was delighted that they provide all the forms, even the envelope to send to the Utah BCI. They provide fingerprinting for $10 prior to the class. I think anyone cannot beat their price and service. I highly recommend Shoot Safe Learning to anyone looking to get a CCW or just taking a class for gun ownership. read more

This place rocks! I have taken several courses here and Edmund is a great teacher and the other instructors ( Kent & Adam) that asist are very nice and patient as well. I originally thought that I would be the only girl in the class but that was not the case at all.The class had an equal amount of men and women and it was a very safe and fun environment! I think every women should empower herself and take these classes;) read more

Fantastic firearm training for CCW or firearm use in general. Entertaining and very informative. Instructors a very knowledgeable and caring. read more

This was a great class! My son and I took the Basic Pistol Course this past Saturday and he and I had a great time. Edmund, Kent, Eric, Steve, Darrin, Howard, and Brett were all very knowledgeable and friendly. The course itself was very informative, my son and I felt it was a good value for what we paid and we highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in taking a class. We love the class and are looking forward to taking another class. read more

I took a class here last month. It was awesome! Definitely will come back for different classes. Edmund and his groups were totally hands on to us making sure we are comfortable. Thank you guys for sharing your knowledge about Fire gun safety. read more

I've attended a couple of classes with Shoot Safe and plan to take more. The instructor, Edmund, was informative and super entertaining. In fact, all the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I would highly recommended checking them out whether you are looking for basic or advance hands on training! read more

Cool show and tell with the guns the instructor had. Class was interesting and i definitely know about gun safety now

This was way better and informational than I expected. Edward the instructor is great and conducts his class in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. I will for sure take further classes for Home Defense & Skill Level training. I can only recommend this. read more

Attended the Beginner Handgun Safety course today. It was my first time EVERY touching a gun. I was a little nervous and had sweaty palms all day (they recommend wearing pants and long sleeve, and it was pretty hot in the classroom and shooting range) due to my nerves, attire and no A/C. The instructors are ALL AMAZING!!!! They truly make this class fly by, and make it very fun and enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, they all are very professional. I feel much more comfortable handling a hand gun now. They all bring in their collections of guns and let you handle all of them, which is helpful when it comes to selecting a gun for yourself. This course is good for all ages. There was a 12 year old boy in our class, with his mother, who ended up being the best target shooter in our class. He won the free hat (prize) at the end of the day. The instructor said that women are normally better shooters than men. The ladies in our class were no exception. They all did very well and seemed very happy with the class. The course seems great for kids since it "takes away the curiosity of guns" since they will be taught proper safety and handling. I recommend .22 for kids and ladies, just to start with, since they have less recoil and noise. Once you get over the fear of recoil, you can move up comfortably in caliber. I highly recommend this course to anyone new or long time removed from handling guns. Great job guys!!! Thank you for all your help and patience. I'll be back for a Home Defense course and/or CCW. read more

They made fun of me for how I danced on a side-step shooting maneuver! (inside joke) Pistol Skill Builder Course - 1/13/13 The instructors at Shoot Safe Learning are professional and yet compassionate to the needs of their students. They went above and beyond as they stayed extra just to help a couple of people that were struggling with their shooting. The presentation was 1st rate as they started with gun safety and gun handling and seamlessly transitioned into how to shoot and how to remedy gun malfunctions. From there they moved into scenarios and how to combat shoot and reload. I will be taking every course they offer. read more

Signed up for a class, and lo and behold the address they gave me was a P.O. Box. Even here, it shows the same address. To me, this is a major flaw in signing up. So when I called the number, he took none of the blame. What good is a class if I have no idea where to go. Glad everyone else found it. read more

just took the class today. All I knew about guns was from movies. I learned so much and really felt comfortable and very informed after the class. You learn quite a bit and get to practice what you learn with a lot of one-on-one supervision. read more

This past weekend Edmund Tan, from Shoot Safe, certified me as an NRA pistol instructor. Edmund is passionate about shooting and does a great job of representing responsible gun owner/enthusiasts. I look forward to taking advanced handgun courses from him. read more

I finished the 16-hour California CCW Training course with Advanced Tactical Pistol training. Once again Edmund and his staff did an excellent job in hands-on pistol training and made the class safe, informative and fun. We used a private section of "A Place to Shoot" range in Santa Clarita. The class is well organized and Edmund systematically reviews every phase of handgun fundamentals. We go over safety, accuracy, shooting on the move, multiple targets, tactical reloads, malfunctions, close-quarter, shooting from the ground, behind barriers, opposite hand and other issues of tactical gunfights. Students include NRA certified instructors, ex-military, law enforcement and firearms enthusiast who bond together and help & encourage each other to improve at live-fire tactical training. I gained a lot of confidence when I finished first in our class at our timed obstacle course during the first-day of training. I will definitely go back for more Shoot-safe learning training classes. read more

What a great experience! A friend and I took the introductory Defensive Shotgun course. It was both fun and informative. The instructors Edmund, Kent, and Morad made the class very enjoyable. Using the information they provided, I feel safer and more educated in the use of my shotgun to defend myself and my family. I look forward to taking additional classes in the future. If you're going to shoot, you'd better learn to Shoot Safe! read more

Always wanted to try firearm shooting, and finally this weekend happened to go to take an NRA 1st steps class. What can I say - very informative class, lasted longer than expected, because instructors were very kind to answer all student questions in very detail. Overall experience was great - recommend to all the beginners. read more

Took the Pistol Basics course last week and can't believe that I didn't take it earlier. Amazing education. Great focus on safety throughout the entire course. Be prepared as it can run up to 4 hours with a full class, I had 12 people in mine. Edmund makes sure the class is fun and informative, but more importantly, safe. He had 3 volunteer instructors in the class to monitor us, effectively making it a 3:1 ratio of student to instructor, which was extremely helpful once we went to the range. If you're scared to try, don't worry, the smaller .22 Ruger provided at the range is easy enough to handle for men and women, but if you want more power (like I did) you can rent at the range. Be warned though...a .40 cal IS a lot of power. (Lesson learned). Needless to say, if you simply want become comfortable with a firearm, understand how to safely use, load, unload, rack and fire, then this is the class for you. The absolute best first step to firearm safety and shooting with top class instructors. You will NOT fall asleep in this course and will want to return for more advanced training. read more
