At me start by saying that I never complain about service or food because I spent many years in the restaurant business. However, today I was so disappointed in our spaghetti. I should have known when the cheese was not melted on top. I dug in to the spaghetti and it was cold. The bread was warm at most and that was the hottest item before me. I tried to get the server's attention but she never can back to the table even though she said she's check on us after laying the bill down. I was starving so I just ate the cold spaghetti. This usually comes with a salad but they don't have salad (I u sweat and no salad bar during the covid restrictions, but not sure why they can't make a side salad). The server offered come slaw with it which turned my stomach to think of that combination so we both passed on the side. So, go to pay the bill and we had to wait for the cashier for almost 5 minutes (there was a customer before us but he had to wait too). When I handed her the bill, she didn't say hello, how was everything?, or even made eye contact with us. Not even a thank you after paying over $24 for 2 spaghettis, a water and a soda. It will be quite a while before I return. There were plenty of servers working to take care of the reduced lunch crowd too. I hope it gets back to their usual standards! read more

The food is good. Really good breakfast. Dinner specials are good as well. A major selling point for the restaurant could be its soup and salad bar. Unlike other spots with this set up, its very expensive to add this to your meal. That keeps me from going there sometimes. Friendly staff. read more

Since my youth this place (once granny k's) and now, Shonets has been in my life. The food is consistently good- just like Maw Maw made!

Came here on a Saturday morning. Walked in and the placed was packed which is a good sign normally. We waited a few minutes and was seated at our table. We waited almost 20 minutes before getting a menu or being acknowledged. After watching the staff work it became evident that they was grossly understaffed. They have 2 servers for around 25 tables or so. The servers was trying their best. The owner or manager needs to get more staff in here. Food was good. Came out fresh with good taste just a little too much oil on the plate for my liking. Wouldn't recommend here if you are in a hurry!! read more

We ordered the soup and salad bar. Once the plates were brought to us we had to request dressing. Soup was empty for about 10 minutes and after they refilled it, left with no ladle to get soup. When the ladle was finally available we were told that the soup was cold and that our waitress would have to heat up a bowl for us. We collectively had one salad and 3 drinks and the bill was $36. It is sad to see a place that my family loved and had frequented often provide such poor service. Unfortunately you have lost three customers. read more

Edit: Besides forgetting my water, my home fries didn't really have much flavor. My cheese burger omelet wasn't too bad, the meat had to be thin. But the biscuits and gravy were actually pretty good. The biscuits are fluffy. My total for a coffee, with a omelet combo was 10.71 read more

We were traveling in the area and had stopped in Milton at lunch time. We always like to go to the local "dives" and this one seemed popular. It was very busy, mostly with older folks which is okay because that's what we are! We had to wait for a table to get cleared, they had obviously been slammed with the after church crowd. The place was country chic at its best. The menu was simple, down home cooking. There was a small salad bar with what appeared to be homemade soups. I am having to watch my diet carefully so my choices were limited but I got the tuna salad plate. The tuna salad was homemade and had a slightly sweet taste probably from sweet pickles. Overall I was satisfied with my meal. The clientele was obviously locals because everyone seemed to know each other and the waitresses took the time to stop and chat. We actually got off on this exit to go to another place, but decided to go here. So glad we did!! Our waitress was super sweet!! I got hamburger steak and my husband got chicken fried steak. Great Little Cafe. The food is like home cooking. They have a pretty good array of items to choose from on their menu from breakfast to dinner. The amount of food you recieve is alot so be prepared.I love how they decorate for holidays. The staff is friendly and helpful. Love that it is family owned. Great Americana food at a reasonable price. Portions are large; get a to-go box and save half for later (lots of people do). Roast Turkey & Gravy dinner was good. Turkey was shredded like a pulled pork; butter gravy. Dinner comes homemade dressing, a roll AND 2 sides of your choice. If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault. read more

This is a quaint old-style country cafe. It is very relaxing. There are many items from which to choose from the menu. The prices are very reasonable. The portion sizes are huge and tasted great. We had to get a take-away box because we could only eat about half of the food, despite initially being hungry. The service was slow, but adequate. The service had a no-fuzz attitude about it, but it was OK with us. We enjoyed the visit and will definitely return. I highly recommend this place if your goal is good food for a great price. read more

Food is always great here. Service is spotty. People work hard but when they are busy lack of staff is obvious. My favorite is Sunday only item, chicken and dumplings, 2 sides (cole slaw and dressing my favorites) and roll. The lunch sandwiches during week are also great. Excellent breakfast! Pancakes are excellent, skillet breakfast excellent-but you better be hungry! Oats are excellent! Poached eggs are the BEST I've ever had!! Now for dinner...the salad bar looks small, but it has big satisfaction! A variety of different salads to choose from, even fruit salad! Their vegetable beef soup was best I've had as well. Potato soup is good, but I liked the veggie soup better... Oh! my husband had the fried chicken and loved it. My brother loves the beef livers and pinto bean soup and cornbread. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. It has something for anyone! I live out of town, but I look forward to eating there next time I visit my brother. Ive been here several times during lunch, and the food and service was awesome. My son came in from out of town yesterday and I took him to Shonettes for dinner, after bragging it up for weeks. I was so embarrassed. We were there for nearly an hour and a half. Appetizer came out 25 mins after we ordered, and was cold. Waitress said she forgot sour cream, yet never came back. Dinner came out around the 60 minute mark, and we didn't get all of our food or rolls. Waitress came to check only once during the entire stay, took my sons glass for a refill, and never came back. At one point, all the waitresses disappeared into the back for over 10 minutes, then came back out laughing. Employee wide smoke break? Don't know. But, it was a horrible experience. This is a good restaurant with wonderful food. The staff needs to be reminded that they are the face of this establishment, and they will either make it, or break it. read more

No one seats you when you walk in,dirty tables everywhere, unfriendly staff, and all around awful food. Overpriced food that is really mediocre at best. They got my drink wrong and my order wrong. They do not accept credit cards which is very inconvient and give you a hand written receipt. read more

just tried to order two meals to go. after the phone being busy for five minutes a got my call answered. simple request to have sides be dumplings (they are very good} nine minutes after going to ask someone if they could do that- had every other time we were in there, another person saw the phone and answered it, pam who is a nice waitress but she gave it back to the original young lady who said no she hadn't talked to me, which was not true, i recognized the vooice. there service has went very far downhill. we used to eat there three times a week and now less than once a month. Happy Birthday to me, it was my birthday dinner and I wouldnt order it from them if it was the only choice to eat for the next 24 hours. we did go in on a tuesday afternoon and had great and quick service from jerica. great food, horrible service evenings and anytime they look busy they aren't going to handle it well. read more
