We had 5:30 reservations at Shogun for my son's birthday. There were 10 of us. We had a short wait before everyone arrived. The waiting area by the bar could've of used a cleaning. We were all seated on time by a friendly hostess. Allen, our chef introduced himself he was young, witty, very entertaining, and an excellent chef. He kept our group entertained. The restaurant filled up fast. The salads and soups started off our dining were excellent. Allen was getting to know everyone as he was preparing the rice and our entrées, steaks,chicken,scallops and the shrimp all prepared expertly and cooked to our order by Alan . We had a reservation, yet did not receive any food, not even miso soup or salad, until an hour after being seated. Our main dishes did not arrive until roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes in. The chef appeared clearly intoxicated, repeatedly messed up orders, and drenched everything in butter and soy sauce to the point it was almost inedible. Nothing was properly cooked, just rushed and greasy. The restaurant itself felt grimy and unclean. The menus were sticky, the seat cushions were fabric and stained, and it did not seem like any ventilation was on. It was hot, smoky, and uncomfortable the entire time. To make things worse, the raw meat sat out on a tray for over an hour because it took so long for the chef to start cooking. When we finally used the restroom because we had been there so long, we were shocked to see they store the meat trays right by the bathroom. Completely unsanitary and honestly disgusting. Service was just as bad. The chef was cooking one steak at a time for a party of 15, which dragged everything out painfully. Our server was rarely around and ignored the one small request I made, which was sugar. For the price, the food and experience were unbelievably disappointing. I truly do not understand how this place stays in business when other teppanyaki restaurants in town offer better food, cleaner environments, and real service for the same cost. Terrible experience. I had always loved going to Shoguns so I decided to take my husband there for his birthday. My sons had never been there before and so I thought they would enjoy the show. Unfortunately our chef apparently didn't want to put on a show for us. He was just blah. The chef next to us was going all out for his table. So we said something to our waitress but she just flaked it off too. When we were about to leave we see him at another table putting on a show and doing the rice trick. That made us very upset. Not sure why we didn't get a show. Also when we asked him for butter for our lobster he scooped up some butter. It wasn't even melted. The place is really dirty now. My friend even found a pincher bug on the napkin on her lap. We spoke to a manager when we were leaving and she just said the next time we come in we will get a free appetizer or something. The chairs stained with who knows what. My husband said it looked like someone used the restroom in his chair. The menus and table tops are so sticky. I usually NEVER leave reviews. Went here on Saturday for dinner with my husband. We arrived here like at 7ish pm. While waiting to get seated I saw a 2 cooks and the bartender casually drinking in the back. When we got sat and once the cook came out that's when it all began. The cook was clearly DRUNK and just casually had his beer mug on the cart with all the food. When I tell you he took "forever" to cook I mean it! He took over an hour no exaggeration. He was throwing the rice bowl for us to catch when he knocked the drink to the couple that was next to us! Poor guy had drink and fried rice all over him. This place has such a fun environment with loud music and happy people all around! The people who come here enjoy themselves so much while dining here! I love how they have so many options to choose from such as a combination from steak and chicken and shrimp. They also have sushi rolls to choose from. The sushi roll didn't have as much fish as I would like in it and it was more crab meat, but it was still good! While enjoying the hibachi the chef had such high energy and gave a great little show! WARNING: you catch food in your mouth and food is flipped! So you might get a little dirty. The food was great, however the chef puts a lot of butter into all of the food (rice, veggies, protein). This is the best shogun location me and my family have been to. We've tried a few shogun places but we always want this one. The chefs are great and our favorite chef is Alex, always friendly and food is always delicious! Never fails when he cooks for us. Overall staff is friendly, portions are very generous and there's always leftovers. The food still tastes great even the next day. I was greeted by a hostess immediately upon entering the establishment. But I was a bit confused as they don't have individual dining tables. There are three very large tables in the main dining area. Kind of like a Basque restaurant. On one side they do have a few smaller tables that looked to seat up to 4-6 people. But there was stuff piled up on them. They had a lot of chairs stacked against the outer wall. It looks like storage and is in my opinion off putting a n a restaurant dining room. They have 6 large spacious Tepan Yaki tables. If you like that kind of dining this would be a great draw for you. It is very loud due to heavy fans all around the space. Probably to offset the heat from the Tepan tables. The music is pop and very loud so as to be heard over the fans. I sat at the bar as there were no two tops. My bartender was prompt but she really didn't engage. My drink was served promptly but I had to ask for a menu instead of being offered one. I ordered a Tito's on the rocks and the Tempura Calamari, which was light, crispy and delicious. My bartender never asked if my food was okay or if I desired anything else. There was no attempt to do anything but the most basic on her part. She seemed to be more interested in visiting with her coworkers. Then she just disappeared completely. Ignasio, who appeared to be the sushi chef noticed that I was finished with my meal and my card was on the bar. He smiled and asked if he could be of help. He took care of my charge and was very sweet. He was the only good part of my experience here. They do serve sushi, but it's more of an after thought. It's not like sitting at a regular sushi bar. They do have a full bar, which is nice. If you are a Tepan Yaki fan, this is probably a good restaurant for you. Unfortunately this place has really take a turn for the worse. I use to love them, but they have so much upkeep that needs to be done starting with fixing the A/C! It is extremely hot and uncomfortable ESPECIALLY when the Tepanyaki tables are turned on! They have a little portable a/c unit in one corner and a few fans throughout, but it does not make for a comfortable setting. In addition to the extreme heat, the cleanliness needs some attention! I just want to put my honest take on this place. We gathered here last night myself and friends. We had a reservation, so we arrived and after being there for a few minutes we were told to have a seat so we weren't blocking the entry. Its just a large room with tepenyaki grills. Everything is basic including the seats. Nothing special, the hostess seemed a bit rude to be truthful. But I ignored it. We were all allowed to get seperate tabs which was awesome. We were taken to our spot and we had a waitress take our drink order and food order, she was pleasant. The chef finally came after a few minutes and started his thing. I thought he was nice and fun which made it good. He cooked everything was great he asked about allergies and it was nice and tasty.
