Snow on car that was supposed to be delivered in an enclosed trailer.

Terrible Experience with Shiplux - Stay Away! I had an awful experience with Sheldon Ames @ Shiplux, and I would not recommend them to anyone. I paid for an enclosed trailer to ship a 1968 Charger and a 4x4 pallet with an engine block on it from Pennsylvania to Chicago. After taking my deposit, they showed up with a trailer that couldn't even fit my pallet. Sheldon Ames assured me that they would send another truck the following Saturday or Monday to pick it up, and I agreed to extra charges for sending an additional pallet with the original. The problems didn't stop there. The car arrived a day later, and the roof of the trailer was torn off--leaving snow and debris all over my car. When I tried calling Sheldon, it went straight to voicemail, and I received no callback. They then held my car hostage on the trailer and refused to release it until I paid the remainder of the balance. After finally reaching Sheldon two hours later, he suggested I get the car detailed and that they would bill the shipper for the damage. I ended up receiving only a $200 refund, despite already paying $795 for a professional paint buff, wax, and correction from the seller prior to shipping. If I had wanted my car exposed to the elements, I would have gone with an open trailer for half the price. It's now a week later, and I still have no pallet. Sheldon has completely ignored my calls since then. They've got their money and don't care about providing any kind of service after that. Shady business practices and horrible customer service--stay far away from Shiplux unless you want to get overcharged for services you never received. Avoid this company at all costs!

Worse company, please avoid this scammers. They are scamming hard working drivers that transport vehicles for them and after that NOT PAYING them. They are charging customer for the jop this drivers did and after that they are not paying them and not responding any calls, text or emails. Please avoid them !!

Asking for the money up front big red flag

I don't even know where to start. After hours of digging through Google, Reddit threads, Yelp…read morereviews... you name it, I was genuinely overwhelmed trying to find the right company to ship my (new to me) classic car (1967 Mustang). It feels like every transport company has either horror stories of the car falling off the trailer and the driver didn't have insurance, car was taken to the Mexican boarder and never seen again, or obviously fake reviews. I eventually landed on Zip Auto Ship for two big reasons. First, the sheer number of legit 5-star reviews. Not AI-written nonsense, no bots, actual people with real experiences. I honestly didn't believe it at first. Second, I called and spoke with Josh, and that conversation alone pretty much sealed it. He didn't give me the usual sales pitch. He walked me through how the process works, why prep and proper insurance coverage matter, and how carefully he vets the carriers he works with. It was clear he actually cares about doing things the right way, and that immediately put me at ease. For context, I got five quotes total: two from friends' recommendations, two local companies, and then Josh at ZipAutoShip. Not only did Josh have the best reviews and the most transparent communication, but his quote was the best price by a noticeable margin. About 10% cheaper than everything else I looked at. And again... zero pressure. No pushing, no guilt-tripping, just straight answers and a fair number. From there, he made the whole thing ridiculously easy. He took my info, contacted the current owner on my behalf, coordinated everything with the carrier, and lined up the pick-up and delivery without me having to babysit the process. The car showed up at my door in Little Rock four business days after my first call with him. Smooth, simple, exactly what you hope for when shipping a vehicle but rarely get. And honestly, one of the things I appreciated most: he didn't spam me afterward. No "hey can you leave a review?" messages, no follow-up hustle. Just a job well done and letting the work speak for itself. That actually says a lot about the kind of business he runs. If I ever have to ship a car again, there's absolutely no question I'm calling Josh. Save yourself the headache and just go with Zip Auto Ship.

I originally hired another company to move my car up to NY. After they completely dropped the ball…read moreon any of their promises, I reached out to Josh. He was very sympathetic to my problem and got right into finding a solution. Within one day, he sourced another carrier, gave me a promised pick up date and supplied the carrier's proof of insurance to ease my mind that my car would be covered if damaged. Josh is an all-star who takes great pride in is work in an industry that is filled with less-than honorable people. It's one thing to make a promise, it's another if they can actually deliver on the promise - that's where this company excels!!!

From the moment I first contacted them for a quote, Demetri Valerga reached out to me very actively every day, which led me to sign the contract on Thursday. I clearly explained my situation and schedule, and I understood that my vehicle would be picked up on 4/13. At no point did Demetri mention that the pickup date could be delayed. However, by Saturday morning, I had received no updates at all. When I called the office, I was simply told that a carrier had not yet been assigned. I followed up again on Monday afternoon via email and phone, and Demetri responded by saying he had just started work at 11 AM and would get back to me after replying to all his emails and texts from Sunday. His tone was extremely rude--completely different from when he was eager to secure my contract. Once they had my payment, the level of professionalism dropped significantly. I contacted the office again after 5 PM on Monday, only to hear the same response: no carrier had been assigned yet. Then on Tuesday, I received an email stating that it would take several more days to find a carrier. When I expressed my disappointment and pointed out that I had never been properly informed of these possibilities from the beginning, Demetri claimed that he had never promised a pickup date. I found this response very unprofessional. At that point, I no longer wanted to use this company. The communication was poor, the expectations were not clearly explained, and the representative I dealt with was extremely rude. In addition, the refund policy was never clearly explained at the time I made the payment. I understand the company may claim that I agreed to the contract terms, but I was never provided with a copy of the contract I supposedly signed. Even if I am unable to receive a refund, I still want to cancel the contract. I see no reason to continue doing business with a company that treats customers this way. If keeping my $300 is how this company chooses to operate, that speaks for itself. I will be sharing my experience so others are fully informed before making a decision.

We tried to ship our car on the 24th, but wasn't able to get the lien holder permission letter in time, since or car wasn't paid off yet, we don't have the title yet, so you'll need a Lien Permission letter/authorization. I was worried that Thanksgiving day and that Friday, Matson would possibly be closed, Alex said no worries and that we could drop our car to the Matson port anywhere from Nov 24th- Nov 30th. We flew out on Nov 30th, so we were worried if we would have enough time to bring our car to the Matson port for shipment. The Matson port is located at Sand Island in Honolulu. We ended up able to get our Lien Permission letter by the 25th and we were able to ship our car on Nov 25th. It was super easy, but only one person (need to wear your mask) is allowed in the Honolulu Matson office to do paperwork to drop off the car. Fast forward to today! We just got our car today in Maryland! It was enclosed and our car looked like the day we dropped it off, clean and unblemished. We did pay extra for enclosed, otherwise shipping your car from Hawaii to the mainland, it will only be enclosed in a shipping container from Hawaii to their pick up port in the West Coast, ours was LA. If you don't specify enclosed for throughout your auto transport, I believe from the West Coast port to your final destination, they will drive it in an "OPEN" Auto Transport carrier which is "unenclosed." I wouldn't have minded "open" auto transport IF we were shipping our car in the spring or summer time, but we moved during winter time here from Hawaii to Maryland, so I was worried about our car being exposed to the elements that winter time will bring, hail/snow/etc. It was worth it getting enclosed, our car arrived clean & unblemished. The auto transport truck drivers were super nice, too. TIPS & INFO from my experience; 1) PAYMENTS: you will make 3 payments through the time you make arrangements for your car to be transported to when you receive your car. First payment, when you book with Coastal Auto, they will take partial payment then, we paid with credit card. Second, you will pay another partial payment at time you drop off your car to the port to ship off, also paid with credit card, and thirdly, you will pay the Auto Transport carrier driver! They will ask you to pay the Auto Transport carrier driver in cash, cashiers check, or money order, but you can also pay credit card, but you have to contact Coastal Auto and they will take your payment by emailing you a DocuSign to make your payment online. We completely the payment the day before our car was to be delivered, and we had no problems at pick up. 2) PORT TO DOOR: we are military and we wanted to have them deliver our car to our address, but the auto carrier driver will inform you that they will be arriving with the enclosed carrier and they need space to maneuver, so instead of them delivering to our address which is on a military installation, we were able to quickly communicate with the truck driver and ended up meeting at a location near the military base, which was in a parking lot of a mall nearby which was clear and open. Throughout the process when they were ready to deliver, they communicated often through text or a call to inform/update you. We were able to pick up our car today, it is in pristine & clean condition as the day we dropped it off to port. The driver & assistant were super courteous and nice, and they were wearing their mask at all times. Since we paid Coastal Auto online yesterday, we just had to sign off some paperwork with the driver and off we go! 3) PAPER WORK: IF car is paid off, you will need your Title along with your car registration to show to Matson, IF your car is not paid off, if you're still making payments on a car loan for your vehicle, you will need a LIEN HOLDER PERMISSION LETTER from your loan company, ours was from Honda Financial, and you will have to call your INSURANCE company to update your car insurance to cover the estimated time your car will be in transport, you will have to give them a window/timeframe of how long it will take to arrive to final destination. You need to make sure your auto insurance will cover your car (if it's on an auto loan) during the time of auto transport. 4) CAR CONDITION: car needs to be thoroughly cleaned inside & outside and personal items must be taken out before shipping. Gas tank needs to be 1/4 full. 5) TIME DIFFERENCE: I think Coastal Auto is based out of Florida, so just keep that in mind when contacting them on the phone during their office hours. I communicated with Alex Duran, he was very responsive throughout the process. 6) MILITARY DISCOUNT: they offer Military discount! You just need to ask about it when you book with them. Would recommend this company to my family & friends.
