So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

Has a memory like you wouldn't believe regarding locations of moving from and to .. assembling difficult entertainment centers etc.! He really managed the crew and identified early that we needed additional help and another truck. He was able to get his brother to help and acquire another large truck so that we were able to stay on schedule. The entire move was incredible. The movers wrapped everything incredibly well including many large paintings etc. they didn't damage the house we left or the house we moved to or even 1 piece of our furniture! It was very hard to believe actually with the volume and size/weight of many of the items. They were prompt with both moves and showed up at 8am both mornings even after getting to sleep at 3am the night in between moves. Can't thank them enough! Extremely impressed and highly recommend!! This group is based in Arizona and locally had 3 reviews so when we started looking for movers, that was a little red flag. But you'll be wooed too. The lady you'll talk to on the phone when you call is Carrie. She's very nice, very articulate, and explained everything very well, explained they've had an office in the area for over a year, sounded very professional. So we went out on a limb and booked an unknown group to throw some new folks a bone, paid the deposit, the whole nine yards. We wanted an accurate estimate so we asked if they could do an in-person estimate. No problem. Until they arrived. So much for altruism. Two affable enough guys showed up and first thing they tell us when they see our little ficus tree (about 6 feet high, thin as a whip) is they don't move potted plants. Why? Because, they explain, they RENT the trucks from Enterprise, they don't have their own trucks like in the pictures (maybe those were in Arizona). And if any dirt spills it incurs a fee. No problem, we tell them, we are happy to clean up anything should it spill-- never has before-- and happy to cover any fee if it spills, and we will wrap the plastic pot up with saran wrap as always. They seemed to go along with that fine, looked around and took notes, and told us the quote would come later or tomorrow from Carrie. Carrie calls me the next day to say so sorry but they can't do the move we paid a deposit for and scheduled, because, get this, "their" truck is too big to fit on DC streets. (This is Washington DC-- trucks and busses drive past daily-- heck a plane could land on these streets everyone moves to and from on every day.) That doesn't make sense at all. Then she tells us we would require 4 smaller trucks and they don't have them. I tell her this makes no sense. One 26 foot truck as we scheduled has moved us without issue several times with room to spare... something isn't adding up. The excuses ring totally false and she keeps changing the story. She tries to blame it on low hanging trees in the area (again with the trees for these folks!), and they just can't manage it. As I type this a moving truck and a bus have driven past... no joke. Wait, I ask her. Is his because of the ficus we want moved? "Well, we don't move potted plants," she quickly responds. So THAT'S it??! They cancelled a planned move 9 days before it's scheduled, after taking the deposit, because we have a potted plant we'd like in the truck they rent from Enterprise. Why not mention this up front? Great question, right.? People have plants. I can't say "unprofessional" fast enough. Hey Arizona, you can have your moving company back. Too much vegetation here for these guys. Save yourself the trouble and get a LOCAL company with a lot of positive reviews.

I had a very good experience with All My Sons. The team was organized, efficient, professional, and…read moreworked hard throughout the move. I also thought the service was a good value for the level of work they provided. What I especially appreciated was that they worked with me to find a solution when my plans changed. At one point, I was considering storing my belongings at their warehouse for less than a week. Rather than simply taking the additional business, they told me it did not make sense to move everything from the original location into warehouse storage for such a short period because it would unnecessarily increase my costs. That advice was one of the reasons I ultimately decided to use PODS instead. My moving needs did change at the last minute, which made the overall move more expensive than I had originally planned, but that was because of the changing logistics, not because they were trying to increase the price. I really appreciated that they were focused on helping me find the most practical and cost-effective solution. I would absolutely recommend them.

I KNOW how long it takes to move my place. Not only did this take more than TWICE as long with allegedly a whole other person, they brought a fourth unauthorized guy. And still took more than half the time. One guy sat in the truck most of the time, I have pictures, the others didn't start on my kitchen until the end, had to wait for that....later to find out when I went back to the old apartment they hadn't even finished the whole kitchen ...ran over my allotted time at the building I was moving out of, at my cost. And then they ruined my couch. So I paid DOUBLE what I was expecting, which was already more than what was quoted cause I was adding a little buffer, but ended up tipping a whole additional person because I'm not a jerk. The guys were nice but inefficient. Kept saying this is what you get with a higher quality mover, but it was not even a better experience. They were wasteful with the amount of packing supplies they used, never presented or communicated the prices of the materials they were using, which I was told was included anyway but also others I never approved or asked for. Just popped it on me in the end. Oh and then they say "we are going to adjust your time by 15 min you'll see a refund on your card" and two and a half weeks later still waiting for it to even show pending at least. But you better believe the charge was instant. I was debating sharing my feedback but was so mad I finally emailed the company. But no one had even dignified me with not even an automated response, just silence. So I come here to do something I pretty much never do. But that's how annoyed I am. Sorry but would rather recommend. Cheap Movers, way better. I used last move were a thousand times better and a QUARTER of the price. I'm not even cheap but I hate being taken for a fool, and it turned out to be just that. That's what I get what I get for using hourly movers for the first time, never again. A slow work scam, exactly what I was worried about, but like an idiot I bought into the reassurances Karen gave me but they truly let her down. I hope she knows they're having her selling lies.

In the past year, our rate has gone up three times and an additional time if you count them adding a fee for online payments. Even though their rental agreement states they need to provide written notice of policy changes at least 30 days in advance, they added the online fee and 30 days later sent out a notice. I don't think that's the intent. Want to avoid this and pay in the office? Nope, they closed the front office too. Their idea of climate controlled units is turn the thermostat off or set it so the inside temperature is acceptable at 85 degrees. Need help on-site? Good luck, there isn't anyone there anytime I go. When the office was open, they were always on a lunch break regardless of when you needed them during the day.
