They also gave me "rewards" which simply means ENDLESS spam emails (for which I explicitly selected that I'm not interested in). And NO the unsubscribe does NOT kick into place after 5 to 8 business days. I have unsubscribed over 8 times over months and I am still getting their spam! The Staples group therefore are also liars. I don't have an account at Staples. Location on my phone is OFF. I stopped in to buy a desk calendar, paid cash. The next day I start getting emails from them. Unsubscribe, chat with them, please stop, etc etc Created a rule in Outlook to block them. NONE of the above has stopped the SPAM emails from them. There were questions as to how to go about it since it involved a certain type of printing process. Susan offered solutions while another customer would come to the counter and interrupt the consultation. Susan was patient and very professional. I visited Staples in need of having funeral programs printed. I was assisted by Brian and provided various options for a beautiful program that will honor my late grandfather. He was also kind enough to give me a discount for my order, given the unfortunate situation, as he expressed his sympathies. When I arrived to pick them up the next day, the printing associate showed me that they even went above & beyond expectations by stapling the programs, which I felt was a wonderful and thoughtful gesture. Presentation tomorrow....lots of copies needed and no desire to kill my home printer! Loaded the files onto my trusty thumb-drive and away I went. The store was not crazy busy and the staff manning the copy center counter were very accommodating. The one clerk actually allowed me behind the counter...insert oooohs and aaaahhs here...in order to make sure he pulled the right files and had all the directions accurate before beginning my print job. I was able to shop a bit while waiting for not only some printing but to have a few things laminated as well. In short order I had all my printing, my laminations and items needed to present a stunning project tomorrow. Arrived at home to the realization that one of the documents had not been 3-holed punched as I had asked AND that I picked up the wrong binders. Back to Leesburg - the shift change had occurred but no worries - the new clerk promptly punched holes in the docs and exchanged my error in purchase lickety-split. Home...notebooks assembled....now just anticipating that presentation delivery!! read more

Staples as a whole in No. VA have been disappointing from a customer service standpoint. I'll qualify my statements by saying I worked for Staples in college, at two stores in Upstate NY. In that experience, I saw some good and bad people working those stores, and know how little effort it takes to actually making the shopping experience pleasing for people. Ignoring issues I had with other stores. I recently purchased a laptop, and went out to Warrenton to get the gift since no one else had it in stock. I realized when I got home, I put it on my Discover Card, rather than the Amex which gives me an extra year of warranty. I called the Leesburg store to inquire if I could return the laptop and buy it back on the Amex. This is well within their return policy guidelines (I bought it yesterday, it is unopened), and a simple 2 minute process. Staples apparently has increased their importance on selling "extras" with items like computers and printers. We used to get hounded about it when I worked the printer/computer section, and it seems even worse now. The girl who answered the phone at Leesburg was polite and helpful. She asked the manager if I could do my exchange, and came back on the phone asking if I "bought anything else". I said, no, and she came back after talking to the manager again, saying the manager would not allow me to return the computer and buy it again. There is nothing in Staples' return policy that justifies this. The store manager just didn't want my "bare" laptop to hurt his store's extended warranty numbers. I guarantee that if I had bought a protection plan with it, he would have been more than willing to take care of my transaction. This is on top of the fact that whenever I have gone in that store, help is non-existent. I think maybe I need to wave my hands around in the air to get assistance on finding an item. When I worked at Staples, we were supposed to engage any customer we saw in our area, especially if it were in printers/computers. I wandered around the computer and printer section yesterday for 20 minutes and not one passing associate or manager stopped. I can't imagine the district manager would like to see this. You would think with the rise of competitors like Amazon, brick and mortar stores would be bending over backwards to provide customer service. After all, they usually do not offer a lower price than the .com competition, so you would think they could offer "value" in the form of service. Instead, the Staples Leesburg store apparently is interested in making sure I go and find a competitor to spend my money with. I should add that the Staples in Sterling was more than willing to let me fix my mistake, and I will drive there in the future instead of going to my "local" store in Leesburg. read more

I want them to Price Match on Microsoft tablet to Microsoft Website Price but sales associate wouldn't. I want to buy from here since I don't want to wait and according their site that was available in stock. I ask them to speak to manager. Enormous supply of ink cartridges!!! Good place for office supplies, but not quite as good as Office Depot. If you need a lot of copying done, this is your place. Overall, the staff is not very helpful and there are better places in town to get your office supplies. read more

I ordered a monitor, keyboard combo, and WebCam from Staples instead of Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, or Target, largely because the items were supposed to be in stock and available for pick up within one hour and I needed them ASAP. I placed my online order and was advised that I would be emailed when my order was ready. Five hours later and still no email, I called the store, and they said it was ready. When I got there, only two of the three items on the order had been fulfilled - the webcam was apparently out of stock. In the email thanking me for my order, all three items had appeared as though they were being fulfilled. Only on clicking through to the fine print can I see that the WebCam had suddenly become unavailable. Huge waste of my time and now I have to start webcam shopping all over again when I needed it today. Won't be making the Staples mistake again! read more

Lisa at the print center could really use a class on customer service. She is like a robot and seems to enjoy an little movement or communication as possible. Also, the store closes st 9pm on Friday, but, the employees and manger on duty seem to think that that means 8pm and literally make you feel like they are closing to get you out of the store. read more

I rarely do reviews but I was treated so poorly I felt I had to. The attendant at the copying section struggled to complete a very simple task. She gave me an attitude and rolled her eyes everytime I asked her something and then when I decided I did not want the job done there she threw away what she had done. I asked if I could keep it since she was just throwing it in the trash and she said she had to charge me. This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered at Staples. read more

I looked online for what I needed and it said they had it in stock at this location. I needed it sooner rather than later so instead of ordering online I decided to go to the store and pick it up. However I looked and looked and looked and couldn't find it in the store so I asked an associate to help and they walked back to exact location I looked at, moved their head back and forth and said "not here I guess" I informed him that online it said it was in stock and asked if it could be in the back somewhere or maybe a separate location than where I had already looked, he said probably not and just stared off into the distance. I decided I wasn't going to get anywhere so I mentioned before leaving they may want to update their inventory online. I then went home and saw it was still saying available in store. I eventually ordered what I needed online through a different business and got it a few days later than I wanted, but I didn't have to go through the run around of wasting my time again, so that was nice. The site said if I order until 2pm my order would be ready the same day at 8:30pm. At 8:45pm I came to the store and they told me that my order wasn't ready and I need to come next day after 8:30. This is ridiculous, what kind of service is that? I spent an hour of my time driving back and forth. This is unacceptable. read more

The next time I hear someone in these brick and mortar stores whining about Amazon taking their business because people don't care about the "personal touch", I'll tell this story. I went in today specifically for the "personal touch" and advice. My printer died, and I have been thinking about upgrading anyway, to get the wireless option and because my wife is using our study as a home office more and more, so needed something better and a little more high-end than the old Officejet. I spent about 20 minutes perusing the printers, including the two models I was considering but needed more information on, and also one additional model that hadn't been a consideration until I saw it there. In that 20 minutes, no less than 4 employees walked directly past me ( 2 multiple times), no eye contact and didn't even acknowledge my existence, while several others wandered aimlessly or ducked into the office when they saw me looking at them. People no longer value the "personal experience" because these lazy bums can no longer be bothered to provide one. I came home and in the same 20 minutes, read multiple reviews online and got advice from people on a dedicated printer forum who had absolutely no financial interest whatsoever in my purchase. She politely told me the print center was closed today. Unbelievable, no explanation. Wasted time I will never get back. So I went to Kinko's and was in and out in five minutes. I had great service but the end product was less than acceptable. They copied and folded programs for me. The fold was incredibly off. I should have looked more closely than just the top few. I had a great experience today. Went in with my computer as it had been locking up this morning. Worked with Lindsay, the store manager. She ran a diagnostic and talked me through it. While there, I witnessed great customer service. Once there were 2 people waiting in line, she called in 2 additional cashiers so folks had a short wait to check out. In the end, there were no viruses but some areas of concerns. Unlike others who posted here, I had a great experience. Yes it's not in a high traffic area nor is it large enough to have a separate area for computer diagnostic needs like I had but they got the job done. It's a smaller store than most and off the beaten path but that's Leesburg. I thought Lindsay did an excellent job. I will come back there again! read more

This Staples is hands down the worst I have ever been to. I generally avoid Staples because of this, however I needed something that was a private label Staples product. There were roughly 6 people standing in line while the two women working the registers had ZERO sense of urgency. Twice a manager came by to help the attendants and returned to restocking ink despite there being little to no movement in the checkout line. The attendant rang up my purchase and I had explained to her that the chip function on my chipcard wasn't working. I have had this issue MANY times and the work around is to insert the card three times and it defaults to swipe. I repeatedly explained this to the attendant who continually cleared the transaction each time...despite my multiple attempts to kindly suggest she try the method I was explaining. She proceeded to call her manager over, who seemed irritated to be involved. When I explained that the chip functionality was not working but the work around is X. He said, "I don't know what to tell you, it looks like you need to call your bank...it isn't our issue. And I am in the middle of working with someone else." Still paying no mind to line of patrons...which had grown to about ten. I left. easier to use the online function if you have to interact with apathetic employees. Terrible. Just called to get information on printing. No problem, they thought they could do it, but needed to check with the Copy Department. I waited..through 2 songs on hold. Nothing. I hung up, called again. I got the same person. I told Lisa I had been on hold for a long time, but no one answered. She was nice, said she had paged them, knew they had recently finished with another customer, but would page again. She then left me on hold through 2 more songs. I'm going to Kinkos!!! The people working at this store are rude, inconsiderate and could care less if u spend your money with staples. Not sure why their management tolerates this behavior but I will never buy from those derrière wipes again. Sent non technical husband to buy Epson black printer cartridge. He doesn't know what to buy so I told him just get the sales person on the phone. I'll tell them what I need and they can pick it out, he just has to pay for it. He hands some guy the phone. I say hello and give the guy my name. He says hi. Nothing further, no can I help you, no introducing himself. I ask him his name, I think he finally mumbles Kyle. So I tell him I need a black ink cartridge for an Epson WF-3640. He says well what number is on cartridge. I say well I am sitting in the middle of a huge field that I was mowing on a 60 hp tractor in 96 plus degree heat (not the cab model with air either!) so I can't really get you the number but on the outside of the packages for Epson cartridges it says which printer it fits. Plus I know they have charts there so he could look it up. So he says well I don't think I can help you. So I politely ask for his manager thinking wow they sure are hiring dregs these days, he probably can't read. I felt bad for the guy, you know that's really embarrassing. So he proceeds to tell me his manager is too busy to talk to me. I say well I could wait. He says nope she won't have time for you. I said what??? Are u telling me your manager doesn't want to speak with me/help me? He says pretty much. I say well that's fine ask her how she would like me to post FB and every other social media this entire conversation. He said that's fine. She won't care I ask. Nope she won't. Hopefully when staples goes out of business because of the horrid customer service he won't have a job and might learn something about how one has to take care of something if they want to keep it. Probably not though. Doesn't appear to me that staples upper level management has any idea about keeping customers either. Never buy from this store!! read more
