This place is great; prices are cheap, people are friendly, plus the food is so good and plentiful. Tried them out today telling them we were on a low carb diet. Hands down the best Orange Chicken I've had in a long time- the dish alone almost made me give 5 stars. My kiddos split the Chicken Lo Mein and loved it. They give you plenty of food. Staff was friendly, restaurant was clean, and I'm having my husband stop by tonight and grab some dinner from there. The location doesn't bother me - I appreciate the fact that this is a brand new local business and they are still ironing out some kinks. When I asked what was on the chicken teriyaki the boy (son) said lettuce.....then when I asked if there was more he said carrots and cabbage. Thinking he confused lettuce with cabbage I ordered it. Well I have never had chicken teriyaki served over soggy lettuce. until today. And there was no cabbage or carrots. The chicken was good and so was the rice. Called after no food delivered over an hour later, they admit to having not received the order and that the website is working out the kinks. My husband goes up there to get our order (with printed confirmation in hand), which he has to wait for 20 more minutes to be prepared. It's now taken 2 hours to get food from here. Easily the best Chinese food in Rowlett; the owners are Expats from Canton, with over 25 years of experience. It's not an uncommon sight to see the chef hauling fresh vegetables to the kitchen from the local supermarket, and meat is always of superior quality. The Singapore rice noodles are to die for, and I'm a huge personal fan of the Kung-pao style, with fried tofu. As an added bonus, they occasionally (depending on what they have in stock) do special orders! The staff, the owners, and the food are incredible all around. This place is one of my favorite discoveries! Theres a ton of Chinese restaurants all over the place, but most of them come up short when it comes to overall flavor and quality of their dishes. Shiny Wok is the exception! Its located in a strip mall and has a very basic interior that doesn't build up the expectations. Their food speaks for itself! The menu is typical of Americanized Chinese food, but its done right! The flavors are outstanding! We've been here probably 6 times in the last two months and we've each had something different each time and we've yet to be disappointed in anything! Great lunch at shiny wok today! The cashier was super friendly and helpful. She's also great at handling multiple customers so I didn't feel ignored or have to wait very long! Awesome! I asked for her recommendations and she said to try the sweet and sour chicken with steamed rice. And it was delicious!! Served with a few cubes of bell pepper and pineapples. Everything was freshly made (so it did take 10 minutes to get our meal) and fantastic. We also had the fried chicken dumplings (came with a very interesting sauce, like hosin and soy sauce and chili flakes). Yum! Only less than stellar comment was that the steamed rice was a little dried out. They have a great selection of condiments, wooden chopsticks and forks. They have bottled and fountain soda. Fresh, cook-to-order Chinese with large portions. I didn't like the overall vibe of the restaurant, but the food was excellent. The restaurant, contrary to the standard of most chinese restaurants, is very bright and open. It feels more like a frozen yogurt shop that anything else. The food, though, is excellent and it was clear our food wasn't cooked until we ordered it. I got the crispy beef and IT WAS DELICIOUS. Finally found a very good Chinese restaurant, though small to eat in and far from where I live. Most Chinese food is bland to me, be it Mom'n' Pops or buffet. Not so with with this little place. Everything I've tried has been superb, top notch (fried rice, Mongolian chicken, Moo Shoo chicken, wings), the "plain" chicken wings were sooo good. I'm usually suspect of these type of places, if I'll be served with dog meat or rat, you just never know, these foods are eaten in certain parts of China. While the food may taste good for your standard Chinese takeout the customer service lacks immensely here. We're staying in a hotel and ordered delivery. I gave them the address of the hotel and they said it would be a $2 charge. Fine because it seemed like a good place to order from. I place the order which was 1 lunch chicken and broccoli with broccoli on the side, fried rice, and the egg roll, 1 lunch sesame chicken with lo mein, and 1 fried dumpling. After completing the order I called back to make sure they would include soy and duck sauce as well as silverware in the order. The driver arrived and upon opening the bag the dumpling sauce lid popped off because it wasn't on all the way (it was even inside the container so I didn't touch it and leaked out all into the bag). We then noticed that the chicken came with white rice instead of the fried rice we ordered, and no silverware! So how are we supposed to eat? Call them back and all the woman kept saying was sorry, sooooooo, and what do you want us to do? I want you to bring me the correct order and something to eat it with please! (Sidenote; currently driving through Texas and my truck has to get serviced so we do not have a vehicle and are staying overnight for the truck to be finished tomorrow so we have no transportation) The woman tells me once the driver comes back she'll call. When the girl called back she was nothing short of NASTY. I specifically asked for those items to be put into my bag, as well as asking for my order to be correct and she actually questioned our order! She also asked what we want her to do and told her to bring us what was wrong/left out of the bag...she said we were out of delivery range and that she can't come back! We said well then you should've made sure the order was correct and you wouldn't have to come back or give us our delivery fee back and she laughed and said,"that's not gonna happen" and hung up the phone. We tried to call back to speak with the owner and they kept either hanging up or not answering the phone...this is BY FAR THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!! I dont care how good your food is, you keep that nonsense up and you'll lose a lot more customers. Not a big fan of Chinese food but this, I will be ordering from regularly. Have tried Fried Dumpling, Tofu Szechuan style, Veg/Chicken Singapore Rice noodle, frozen Honeydew bobo drink. The food is unbelievably delicious and made with good quality ingredients as well as spices. There is a spice used in the noodles that I can't place, but it is so GOOD! Restaurant has a small front but "Harry Potter" store proportions. It must be magic or the non-pretentious, welcome of the store and employees staffed. Amazing! My family and I went here after church on a Sunday afternoon, and it was great! They had a lunch special for very cheap! We got a mountain of the friend rice for only $7. It was so much good food for so cheap. We ended taking leftovers home and trust me, we can eat. I got an appetizer of 8 dumpling for $5 as my meal and it filled me up even being an appetizer. I definitely recommend this place. The place is a little small in a bit of a rundown strip of places, but it's clean and big enough to dine in. They also do delivery, which we didn't do, but we saw people come in, get their food, and leave looking happy. It didn't take too long for them to get their delivery either. The service was also decent. Our food didn't take too long and we were able to sit down, talk, and eat. I would honestly chose this place over other popular restaurants. I think if I'm being honest it's the most underrated Chinese place there is. We are definitely going back soon. 100 percent recommend. You get what you pay for! read more

Shiny Wok has been around for about 2 1/2 years now and they have really given it their all. The owners, Heather and Bill, have many many years of experience and are always cheerful when greeting their customers. Though their English may not be perfect, as I've read other customers complain about due to the fact that their first language is Mandarin, they are amazing people and great at what they do. They treat both their customers and employees wonderfully. They are extremely flexible people, and only a few exceptions will stop them from creating a food you're craving! Portions are very nice, and lunch specials are every day from 11am to 3pm. These include the dish, a side of fried or steamed rice (or for a dollar more, brown rice), and a delicious eggrole. After 3pm they serve dinner portions only with a side of rice, but they're great left over! Would highly reccomend the rice noodles, sweet and sour chicken/shrimp, and the spicy crispy chicken. These are all my personal favorites. The owners are at the restaurant every single day of the week, cleaning, cooking, and serving, from before opening at 11am to after closing after 9:30pm. You can't help but have high respect for them. Although there are the occasional mistakes, as any food business experiences, Shiny Wok will go out of their way to please you, as customer satisfaction and care is their number one priority. One note: the website is not active. I will most likely be posting a picture of the Official up-to-date Menu soon, as the menu you may be able to access is a bit out of date now with all the new meals they offer and the cancelation of others. My family eats here at least once a week. The food is the best in Rowlett. The food is fresh and you can tell they care about there customers. We ate there last week for lunch, I saw the chef/owner carrying fresh green onions and broccoli to the kitchen. That was a first at any restaurant. I knew the food was fresh when I ate it the first time but seeing the fresh vegetables myself was amazing. The front staff are friendly the second you walk in, and if you eat there they take great care of you. The owners are friendly I recommend the Shiny Wok to everyone. read more

Can't speak on the food yet since I'm sitting here waiting for my take out, but service seems inept. Walked in and waiting a good while before the clerk came out and noticed me. Just saw another customer experience the same thing. They need a bell or have the cashier pay more attention. Will edit when I eat, but at best this is 3 stars based on service and a generous assumption of the food. Oh, and boba tea is made from powders and some generic jugs of syrup from what I saw.
