I bought a bike with great components but the frame didn't fit quite right. Got a new frame off eBay and Jason transferred all the components for me quickly and worked with my bike fitter to customize my bike His communication was fantastic, calling me everyday to know that status of where the build process was (due to the scarcity of parts due to Covid.) Its one thing to be able to look at numbers and "fit" a bike. It is a whole different thing to TRULY understand WHY you fit the bike a certain way, HOW your body works with or against the way your bike is set up and, most importantly, WHY you may be feeling a sensation that you may not like while riding.. Lauren does this to perfection. She is not a Dr but truly impressed me with her knowledge of anatomy and how the body works. Shift Bicycle is amazing! The pedal and crank on my indoor cycling bike needed to be repaired. I called around and some places were quoting me $120 labor plus parts, $200+, $40, but when I called Jason he was so polite and welcoming. He told me to bring my bike down and he's check it out! Used shift to have 2 mountain bikes tuned up. Jason did an excellent job and he took care of things that I didn't know where bad. He is very personable and very knowledgeable in what he does. The tune up took a little over an hour on each bike and that included taking apart the rear and replacing bearings in one of the bikes and lauding the bearing in the other. Both bikes ride super smooth and shift amazing. Price point on shock service is good and he did not try and sell work that didn't need to be done. What an awesome business Jason has! My husband and I both own Townie bicycles, and we hadn't ridden in about a year. We had been storing the bikes in our garage, and they had gotten dusty and dirty. We were excited to get back into riding our bikes, especially with the cooler months coming up. But we don't have a truck or van or any type of car that we could transport our bikes to a bike shop to get them freshened up and cleaned. I went on Yelp and typed in "mobile bicycle repair," and to my astonishment, a business like this actually exists. We were so excited! I looked at all the reviews, and chose Shift Bicycle based on all the great reviews and that Jason also services the Torrance area in the South Bay, which is where we live. Jason showed up promptly for our appointment with his amazing state-of-the art van, containing everything he needs to work on all kinds of bikes. He took both our bikes to his van, and meticulously brought them back to life, with even shinier chrome and spokes than when the bikes were new! All the dirt, grease, leaves, cobwebs and grime were gone and everything was cleaned and polished, better than ever. Jason rode each bicycle for a minute or two to make sure all the gears were working properly and that there were no squeaks or unwanted noises. I read in a previous review that Jason had helped another customer with getting their seat at just the right height, so I asked Jason to observe me riding my bike so that he could set the perfect seat height for me, since my back had gone out on me several times last year when going over a bump or riding over the lip in the driveway. He observed me ride, and said I need the seat higher, so he adjusted it for me, which I really appreciated! My husband and I were able to go on a lovely bike ride this afternoon thanks to Jason. I recently had Jason come out and do some work on my road bike and my hybrid "strand" bike and I was thoroughly pleased with the results. He replaced all cables and the bar tape on the road bike and did an overall tune-up. On the hybrid he replaced the chain and re-aligned the derailleur hanger, and did some work on both derailleurs to make shifting work - better than when it was new! The mobile repair concept is awesome. First off, you don't have to leave your bike in the shop for who knows how many days. But even better, you get real-time interaction with the repair guy, so he can tell you what he finds, make recommendations, and you can decide what you want to do or not do. I was very pleased with the pricing - it seemed to be a bit less than what I would have paid in a shop. And the quality of the work was excellent! I have been road biking for 6 years and have used every bike shop in the South Bay for service and repairs and my experience with shift was by far the very best. Jason comes to your house to pick up your bike and will use his mobile shop to work in your driveway. Jason was able to fix a problem my bike was having and explained why I needed to replace the parts. Jason was able to get my parts overnight and had my bike ready in 24 hours. Shift is more affordable and then other bike shops that will take a week or more to fix your bike. After being so happy about my road bike tune, I called Jason to take a look and fix my mountain bike which I had been delaying service on for 6 months because I was worried about the cost. I have been road biking for about eight years, and I had never been totally happy with the service at bike shops around the South Bay or PV for getting work done in the past. I did a search and found Shift, a new mobile bike repair shop. The prices were very reasonable and since it was mobile they would come to me while I wait. I called and the phone was answered right away by Jason, the owner. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, so I told him I needed a basic tune up and once over and we arranged to have him come to my house the next day. He arrived right on time and parked his van outside my house. I was definitely impressed with his setup. A full bike repair shop, small retail/parts section, and even an espresso machine with enough room for several people to stand and move around (I'm 6'4"). Jason asked me how long I had been riding, how often I ride, where, etc and was genuinely interested in my experience and what my bike needs were. He offered me a free espresso while I waited. I asked questions while he worked on my bike and he was more than happy to explain everything to me and show me what he was doing. I could have gone back in my house while he worked but I wanted to check out the process. My lower back had been hurting a little and Jason observed me riding and suggested I lower my seat a bit, that seemed to make a difference. I own a 2012 Cannondale Evo w/Dura Ace 7900 group set. I had planned on taking my bike along with new shift and brake cables, new chain and new bars to a local bike shop. I called the shop and was told I needed to drop the bike off and they would have it ready in a week. I didn't feel like doing that. I then proceeded to look up on yelp for bike maintenance/repair. I came across Shift. I decided to give them a call. Jason was able to schedule me within 2 days and he would come to me at home or work at a very reasonable price and as he states in his website cheaper than what most bike shops charge. As is for most people, Im very pressed for time and having this kind of service is absolutely fabulous. Jason showed up exactly on scheduled time to my home. He spent a good 3 1/2 hrs working on my bike to get it in tip top shape. He has an impressive set up inside that long work van. He replaced my cables he checked my chain and informed me it was still good and did not need replacing. He adjusted my rear hanger which was quite off even though it was fairly new. He informed me that the hanger should always be checked even on brand new bikes but that most bike shops simply don't. A big plus in using SHIFT for me is that he asked me to get in the saddle to check the position of the shift levers before wrapping the handlebars. I had thought of that myself before calling SHIFT. I figured if I had dropped off my bike at the local bike shop they would install the levers in a standard position which may not always be the best thing to achieve the best fit. Jason checked the fit and asked me for my feedback and proceeded to also inform me that my seat was much too high . He adjusted everything, and proceeded to take the bike on a test ride where he did observe some noise coming from my bottom bracket. However, he did not have the part nor the time to disassemble the bottom bracket thus, Jason will be finishing the job at my work location next week. I,ll update next week as to how it all worked out. But for now I can highly recommend SHIFT. Quality work that saved me time and money. Btw I had my parts but keep in mind that Jason carries inventory of parts if you don't want to bother ordering or going out to buy parts. read more
