Excited to have more yemeni cafes in the city! I checked out Shibam recently and first thing I noticed was how easy the parking is--there's space right in front, which is always a win. Inside, the place is huge, with tons of seating making it a perfect spot to work or study. I tried their pistachio latte, which was smooth and flavorful, and the marouf, which had that bold, traditional Yemeni coffee taste I love. I also had their tiramisu, and it was really good--not too sweet and perfect with coffee. They have other desserts too that looked tempting. Service was fast and friendly and overall it's a great place to grab coffee and get some work done.

Beautiful ambiance and very helpful, kind service. We are so happy to have Shibam in the neighborhood! We ordered the iced pistachio latte and the mufawar coffee. Very yummy

This cafe is spacious, open late, & has a parking lot! I came around 8/9pm for some late night dessert and was welcomed with warm modern interior. It was order at the counter, get a remote buzzer, & pick up the order and seat yourself. They had a whole dessert shelf of yemen indulgents from chocolate, pistachio, carrot, rose, honey, etc (not pictured). This is a charming spot & definitely recommend for a remote work cafe or dessert spot for those after hour cafe wants. The place says open til 10pm!

    A sign

I am so grossed out. The bathroom has a permanent sign on each stall door that says you can't flush toilet paper, so you have to put poopy paper into a bin that staff will have to empty. The staff that makes your food. I didn't use the bathroom. This is not a boat, and in Chicago city rules say you must have plumbing that can handle toilet paper. The guy at the counter said the manager is afraid pipes will get clogged, hence the disgusting rule. I will never go here again.

I was looking for an Instagram-worthy coffee shop near me and happened to stumble upon this place. I've passed by it many times, but it never really crossed my mind to stop in until today and I'm glad I did. I ordered the Shibam Latte because I was curious about how the Yemeni spices would work in a latte. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it. The flavors were unique, well-balanced, and unlike anything I've had before. I paired it with their tiramisu mousse, and the combination was perfect. The café itself has a warm, inviting atmosphere that's great for relaxing, catching up on work, or simply enjoying a quiet day off. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I can definitely see myself coming back regularly. This might just become my new go-to coffee spot whenever I'm off work.

Got the pistachio latte and it was great. Not too sweet nor strong in coffee. Just the perfect of both. Service was also quick as well. Love the ambiance as well

Oh my! The pies kind of look like homemade individual sized pizza pockets with either spinach, chicken, veggie or zatar. They're on the bottom shelf in the picture. If you want to work on your laptop, the free WIFI is good and there are charge cord plugs all along the wall. I like how spacious and bright it is inside, not to mention the high ceilings. I loved the iced mufawar because it's a perfect blend of spices like cardamon and it gives me a caffeine high. There's an assortment of sweets and a few savory items like croissants. A shared parking lot in front is a major plus, but it's also steps away from the Brown Line making it super convenient. Definitely a great place to get some work done.

Went solely for their fruit and red bean shaved ice. The ice could've been finer (I had to chew on…read moresome larger shards of ice which wasn't pleasant), but otherwise we enjoyed it, and I was very happy to see that it had all the makings of an old school patbingsoo with both fruit and red bean, as well as mochi and ice cream, which is rare nowadays. It was pricey but enough for 2 people to share. Metered parking on a weekend evening was easy. My only complaint is that it had a strange, unpleasant smell inside (we were there in the evening during the weekend of April 25th). Also, when I came a few years ago, it had a really cozy, welcoming vibe packed with comfy couches. Now, it just looks like basic tables and plastic chairs, lacking comfort, character, and charm. I'm hoping to return to try the sweet potato latte and the other shaved ices, but I hope they do something about the smell and make the space feel more cozy and inviting.
