Came in a few days after their official opening and could not be any happier that they chose Uptown as their first city location. Staff was very friendly and they were working hard serving up a lot of customers already (we love to see the support!). I ordered their special cold brew that's typical in Yemen called Mufawaar. I got the 16 ounce iced and it was delicious. The place looked like it needed a little cleaning and organization, however since they just opened I think they're figuring out the kinks given they're already getting a lot of support already. Will absolutely be back on the regular.

Firstly, I'm happy that this cafe is open until midnight. There aren't many cafes/coffee shops in the US that are open until late. We got the adani chai, dubai chocolate, and dubai chocolate ice cream. The adani chai was really pleasant, it was mild in taste which I like. The dubai chocolate and dubai chocolate ice cream were good too. The prices are affordable here compared to other cafes - good value. It's a pretty large space too. Good for studying/doing work. The staff were kind and had good customer service too.

New coffee spot in uptown! They have a big menu from coffee/lattes, breakfast sandwiches, desserts, milkshakes, and more. It has a moderate amount of tables & chairs. We ordered Mufawaar coffee-- good tasting & strong! & Queen spice latte decaf- very good but it was too sweet for me so I couldn't finish it all. Overall, The coffees were unique in preparation with the grounds and spices, and was pretty good, but with so many amazing options in the area the coffees itself did not stand out. The service was excellent

Stoked about the addition of Queen Yemeni to Uptown!! The menu was expansive with lots of good sounding options. Drinks were quickly prepared. Despite opening only 2 days ago, the cafe had a nice amount of people inside working, chatting, or enjoying their drinks. Very conducive coworking space; generally quiet inside. Prices are on par with the region. My coffee was DELICIOUS. I really appreciated the mix of flavors going on. My fiance ordered a dirty blueberry matcha latte and loved it. Looks like some of the flavors behind the counter are monin - my favorite!! We didn't get any pastries, but all of them looked divine: blueberry cheesecake, tiramisu, donuts, etc Im MOST excited about the operating hours. I can't wait to come back at a later time! A late night cafe is just what the neighborhood needed. Welcome, Queen Yemeni!! I'm so glad you're here

Great bakery case! Dunkin' better watch their backs, the donuts here are dead ringers plus some. Adventurous menu, requires multiple trips back. Location is right in the center of everything.

The sweet treats are ample and delicious, and the coffee was wonderful as well. I can't wait to go back and try the sandwiches. The staff was also welcoming and super friendly. A great addition to uptown.

Update - the Biscoff latte is as good as it sounds. The atmosphere seemed warmer with Yemeni music softly playing. Counter person was polite and efficient. Muffin was so-so.

i rarely every try a coffee place that isn't starbucks or dunkin but i decided to give this place a shot. The biscoff latte was so good!! It was the perfect mix of sweet and coffee :) and i really like the spread they smeared around the cup , it was really good. there's only 2 workers there so the drink took a tiny bit to have done but it was worth the wait and there was a line so it was understandable. i would come back again and hopefully get to try one of their sweets. i had a really good time there and i liked the seating

Quick and friendly service. Large menu. Great sitting areas. Everything we ordered was great (pistachio latte, drip coffee, pistachio baklava) also got ground beans to go. Very chill vibe

Stopped by a fantastic new Middle Eastern coffee shop on the block! The Adani Chai and scone made tea time divine.

Here are my pros amd cons: Pros - Its a local business - Quite - Great selection of pastries, sandwiches and bread (food was DELICIOUS) - They have wifi - Plenty of room to do my work when I want to get out of my house - Everything is made in house Con - Customer service. I didn't go there to get red carpet service, however I did expect a simple hello. Unfortunately, I felt like I was bothering the girl behind the counter. I walked up, said hello, and all I got was a stare. I mentioned that I have never been there before, in the hopes that she would make a suggestion. Not a peep. I asked her about the blend of coffee of the day. She literally said...."Its the coffee of the day". - Long story short, she didn't want to be there, didn't care about customer flow. Almost everyone that came in had to wait for her to stop talking to the back of house bakers. Almost never smiled. Its to bad that she wasn't taking her job serious. That place if great and I recommend going there. My hope is that the owner reeducates the employee on how important it is to simply say "welcome" or "hello". Many small businesses are closing down in this neighborhood. Customer service one of the easiest ways to get people to come back.

They move really quickly so you don't have to wait too long for your items. I've been going to Phlour for years and they've invested a lot into renovating the inside of the cafe. It's a completely different place since I first started visiting but the food has remained consistent. It does seem like they reduced the number of plugs which makes working from the cafe much harder. The music is also a little loud so I wouldn't take important calls from here but it's a good place to meet up with people. The pastries at Phlour are still top tier so I still visit to grab a quick pastry. The baked goods are on the pricey side but the cinnamon bun and quiche are worth it. Some of the other pastries are on the smaller side, so not worth the price but they are very tasty.

The Understudy Coffee And Books - Iced Vanilla Latte

Really great vibes inside: the coffeeshop and bookstore combo is the ultimate cozy pairing!…read more Didn't have too much time to browse at the bookstore, but I ordered a seasonal strawberry matcha latte and an americano from the cafe. The americano was nothing special but refreshing on a summer day. The seasonal strawberry matcha was a bit disappointing, due to the lack of matcha flavor (the color was not very vibrant, and the matcha powder itself was likely not super high quality or oxidized) and sweetness. However, I tried the strawberry corn cookie, and it was one of the most delicious cookies I've had. Corn in dessert has been one of my favorites, and the texture of the corn with the strawberry icing to make a sweet and slightly tart summer treat was incredible! Everyone working there was super kind, and if I had more time to hang around, I would definitely bring a laptop and work here.

On our way to class recently, we stopped by The Understudy Coffee and Books for the first time to…read morecheck it out. The coffee shop was bustling and almost full around 12:30 pm. We were lucky to grab the last small round table for two.  The pastry case was only 40% stocked at this point. We were happy that they still had our favorites -- 2 almond croissants ($14 for 2) and a cappuccino ($5 + $0.50 Oat Milk) to go.  The cashier was very friendly, patient, and welcoming. The decor of the store is modern and charming.  There were a variety of seating options, and many customers were working on their laptops while enjoying their drinks, giving the café a cozy yet lively atmosphere. The bookstore occupies about half of the space and features an impressive collection of books focused on drama and theatre.  If you are interested in theatre, this thoughtfully curated bookstore is for you. We noticed a sign indicating that The Understudy partners with Defloured Bakery, which also partners with a long list of businesses, including another coffee shop in the neighborhood that we frequent a lot. We have enjoyed almond croissants and other baked goods at that café very often, they were just as delicious and large, since they were sourced from the same bakery. However, The Understudy charged $7 for an almond croissant, while the other café charged only $4.50 for the exact same pastry. That's a significant price difference. The cappuccino was another slight disappointment. It was only lukewarm rather than hot, although I am not sure whether the oat milk substitution may have affected the temperature. Judging by how popular The Understudy was during our visit, it's clear that many people appreciate its ambiance, curated bookstore, and friendly service. If those qualities are important to you, you may find the higher prices well worth it.

Now that you all have gotten rid of the DJ table and added more chairs, it does feel more like a standard cafe! I'm looking forward to the menu changes. Thanks for your consideration! Previous review: I really enjoy their beverages and I keep coming back. That being said, there is almost no price transparency. The only prices they have on their menu are for the THC additions. I've mentioned this to the owner twice (he's a cool guy) but he has always sort of shrugged it off. It bothers me every time I'm in. Sometimes my latte with oat milk comes out different prices. Price transparency is so important for consistency . Not including the prices is a bit elitist, especially when the average drink is $6-$8. You should want folks to come in and comfortably order what they can afford. I hope this suggestion is taken into consideration. The drinks are good and like I said, I keep coming back but this has been a sticking point for me for a year plus.
