Friendly folks, just an ok selection and not a bad timeline. We started an order with a sales lady, but took the material sample home to check the color with the room. She was busy when we got back, but a gentleman helped us finish the order. Both were very friendly and had no problem with finding answers to our questions. Said 4-6 weeks, but probably closer to 4. We were looking at fold out sofas. They only had 1. But the store isn't that big and I am not sure if those are that popular anymore. The mattress on it was horrible and they said we could upgrade for $300, but didn't have a sample of that mattress. Haven't gotten the sofa yet, so can't review that. read more

I bought a small, power recliner from the Normal store a few days ago, then after it was delivered yesterday it did not work properly, getting stuck in recline or not powering at all. After speaking with the service department in Peoria Heights yesterday, then again this morning, after the recliner was again stuck in full recline, they said they could not get a tech to me for 5 days. I went into the Normal store, told them what the problem was and asked for help. Debbie, my salesperson, asked Julian from the warehouse to follow me home and see what he could do. He quickly determined the problem was wires getting caught in the moving mechanisms underneath, secured them out of the way with zip ties, and everything worked perfectly. Thank you to the Normal store for promptly addressing this issue, but a thumbs down to the service department. read more

Final result is positive, so far, but communication was difficult, sometimes lacking. For example, today was install day for a fridge, and I was not given any kind of heads-up as to time. First indication was a knock at the door. Old fridge was not yet empty. Delivery guys said I should have gotten text(s), but I didn't. Frustrating. As for pricing, certain brands cannot be discounted - I understand that. What I don't understand is that Sherman's is happy to pay banks' fees for credit card use, but won't offer a discount or credit for cash or check. read more

Not recommended for appliance repair. 3 year old GE refrigerator purchased from Sherman's required light bulb replacement. Owners manual indicates problem requires technical to repair. To replace bulb cost $408!! $150 Service Call!! $100 labor cost (repair took 5 minutes to replace LED bulb) ++ $159 cost of bulb. Later found out the $159 bulb could be purchased on Amazon for $24. Quite a Mark Up by Sherman's In summary it cost $408 to replace a$24 bulb by Sherman's! Profitable Business! In addition placed several calls to talk to Profitable Service Mgr He must have been very busy serving other customers to talk to me about the bill! read more

First of all the delivery team was awesome, BUT the sales team failed to tell us we needed to have a plumber come out for a shut off valve to the refrigerator so they could hook up the ice maker. We have bought a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, 2 powered recliners, a powered couch, and coffee table. We've spent a lot of money furnishing our new home in 2020. . When all of the plastic shelves in our fridge (no children in the house or anyone being overly rough) started cracking, I called Sherman's because we had purchased a warranty. We were told that the warranty only covered the motor and not the shelves. So we went to whirlpool and bought new shelves and drawers to replace the cracked parts out of our own pocket. That was around $600. Recently we called about the recliner to see if our warranty covered the chair that was no longer working and was told that the other warranty for the fridge we bought should have covered the shelves. As it stands, we now have one recliner that no longer works. Pretty sure it was the fault of the delivery people who set it up because when we looked at it, the cord was pinched between some of the chair mechanisms and had a slice in it. So, instead of making things right by maybe giving us a free service fee for our broken chair and misuse of our warranty they just empathized with us that was an unfortunate situation. 0 star worthy. We purchased a dishwasher in JUNE (it's now October), it has leaked from the very first use. Customer Service has been un-responsive - messages and calls are never answered or returned. The only way to get a response seems to be email. They have been to our home 6 times to "fix" our brand-new dishwasher. I have tried to be patient and understanding throughout the process. The last fix that they were confident it was fixed and we wouldn't have any further problems. Unfortunately, after that fix, it leaked worse than it did initially. Finally, after 6 visits they agreed to replace the dishwasher. We spoke to them confirm the appointment and reconfirm that they would install the new dishwasher and take the old. I even received an email regarding installation. Today, they showed up for delivery and we were told they were only here to deliver the new dishwasher and take the old one, so after the 7th time of having to take time off of work we still do not have a working dishwasher, or a new dishwasher. We did not originally have them install the dishwasher, but this time I specifically wanted it to be installed by them so they could not blame any further issues on proper installation (at the 6th visit, I was told it was leaking because it was installed too closely to my countertop). I refuse to pay any further $ to this company, and they refuse to cover the installation cost. It has been the worse experience of buying an appliance I have ever experienced. 0/5 do not recommend. I will continue to warn anyone I know thinking of purchasing anything from them. At this point I just want to return the dishwasher and buy elsewhere. read more

The initial sale at Sherman's went well. I bought a mattress and box spring. Problem 1. The box spring arrived damaged. It had 2 holes and the staples around the bottom of the box spring missed the fabric on a large portion. I spoke with customer service. They said they could give me a refund or a replacement. There was some confusion around the refund. Since no dollar amount was given, I assumed it was a full refund. That was my bad for assuming. The refund was around $50 on an almost $300 box spring. I decided to get a replacement box spring because of the poor condition of the box spring. Problem 2. The mattress I purchased arrived much firmer than what is in their showroom. I spoke to customer service and was told I could exchange it. They did not explain the exchange policy. I assumed it would be no different than my initial purchase since no policy was discussed. I completed the exchange. Signed the paper and was handed a receipt which I folded and put in my purse without looking at it. I was in hurry because I was on my lunch break. Problem 3. New mattress arrives. They put it inside my front door. They take the other mattress which was also just inside the front door. The replacement box spring was not on the truck nor did the delivery guys know anything about it. Problem 4: I contact customer service about the replacement box spring. Decide to take the $50 refund to put an end to that situation. Problem 5. While talking to customer service, I look at the invoice for the new mattress. There is a $49.99 delivery charge. I ask for that to be refund because they only shoved the mattress through the door. They didn't set anything up. I spoke to several customer service personnel and each refused to refund the delivery fees because it was a replacement item and that is their policy. Sherman's is very good at leaving out pertinent policy information. I am filing with the BBB. The $50 was never brought up, nor was the replacement policy ever explained. We have purchased numerous items from Sherman's but we are done. Ordered a mattress and asked if they could keep it until our bed came in in 4 to 6 weeks and yes just let us know when you need it delivered. then they continued to call at least once a week if not more to see if I knew when they could deliver the Mattress. Made a time to deliver the mattress and they delivered everything but the mattress so we had our new bed but no mattress to put on it. They bugged me for 6 weeks and then didn't deliver it. Repairman was very courteous, BUT: Don't ever use Sherman's for repairs. You will be charged $139.00 for someone to come out and tell you exactly what you told them when you described your issue. They will most likekly not have your parts and then have to order them, take several days to get them and then charge you more to come out again. You would think that a professional business that has been around for a while, would stock a good sampling of parts to enable them to fix your appliance in 1 visit, or take part of the $139.00 and apply it to coming back and fixing the parts. Also keep in mind that Sherman's may not have testers for testing your refrigerator's component that is broke. TO fix your appliance, look for the issue on Youtube and have any capable friend follow the steps. The parts can be purchases on Amazon without the 4 to 5 X markup. There are a ton of videos on Controllers. Takes 20 minutes to change one. Super easy. read more

I rarely write reviews but feel compelled in this situation. I ordered an oven range for my son as a Christmas gift. Delivery was scheduled prior to Christmas but the item was not put on the delivery truck in the morning as scheduled (packer error). A new delivery date was scheduled after Christmas and again, the oven range was not put on the delivery truck. This is unacceptable customer service. I do not recommend Sherman's at all. The lack of communication is my biggest complaint! We ordered a wall oven in January. Knowing it was a special size (and COVID) we anticipated a wait. We were told 12 weeks. We waited 16 weeks before calling. We have called every month since then. Never a call from Mike or anyone else. Now June, and I make my monthly call. We are told that it has been delivered to their store. Great! I know that they will now deliver it 2-MAR-OH! Nope! Put on their delivery rotation for almost the second week of July. I have now dealt with Sherman's since August trying to get a refrigerator that works. I got one that they wouldn't put in my house. I had friends help thank goodness. Had to switch handles and the way the doors open. Freezer stopped working on my brand new Whirlpool. Rather than come fix it they sent someone out to tell me it's not working and someone would need to come fix it. If you have a full time job be prepared to take off 2-3 days from work as they only fix appliances from 9-3. No exceptions. They will not guarantee a time and you have to wait all day for them to arrive. So whirlpool said to give me another new refrigerator. Sherman's put it inside my house and I asked them to put the doors and handles the way I wanted them. They assured me they would. Nope. The guys said that's not their job. Even though they had the doors off anyway. To I had to wait and wait for them to get switched. Low and behold the second new refrigerator quit working. Shocking. So now I wait while my groceries I bought Saturday rot. A lady from Sherman's had the nerve to yell at me today on the phone. She told me to contact whirlpool to get it fixed. I was told that by Sherman's the first time and whirlpool told me it's Sherman's problem. I told the mean lady that today and she kept yelling at me that my refrigerator is under warranty and it's on Whirlpool. Since I can no longer be nice and am getting nowhere with them my 83 year old mother is now dealing with them. She has learned that when you buy anything from Sherman's it's now yours and no returns. I sure as hell don't want the same model again nor do they have it in stock if I did. At this point it's October and you'd think they just give me a better model to be done with me. Nope. Why would they do that to a customer that has purchased everything in my house from them. My advice to anyone patronizing Sherman's or thinking they like to is to never set foot in the store. Just spent over $10,000 at Sherman's and am happy!! Marcus does searches for best appliances AND best prices better than any appliance store I shopped at. The fact that they sell to me at the lowest price being offer in our local area is comforting...even better is my actual experience: as I was about to buy, Marcus saw the competition has just lowered the $ on my refrigerator by $500! That was a nice savings! I do love services that are a combo of great automation and great people. That was my experience at Shermans. I purchased a dishwasher. When installing it they cracked the countertop. Accidents happen and they paid to replace that. They didn't help arrange it with another contractor and when asked for help they essentially did nothing. After the countertop was reinstalled the dishwasher dropped water into my ceiling and walls on the floor below. The cherry on the sundae is that we are outside of the one-year warranty and the dishwasher doesn't even work. It needs over $450 worth of parts. Sherman's says they are not helping with the damage or the dishwasher. I'd think twice before purchasing any appliance with them. I was told by the customer service manager you are only allowed to speak to her, and if you have a problem with what she says sorry, and best of luck to you. read more

I bought a dishwasher and microwave from Sherman's. My previous dishwasher was leaking and had been for a long time, damaging a large portion of my kitchen, so we had to rip out everything and replace everything. I had Sherman's hold everything until we were ready for it. When my contractor asked us to have it delivered so they could lay the floor I told Sherman's I just wanted it delivered, not installed. In fact, they couldn't have installed it if they wanted, we didn't have a water line. So, the delivery guy shows up and obviously he has been told he was going to install it and he seems aggravated that he isn't. My husband calls me on the phone and I walk into the living room to talk to him when suddenly I hear the sound of a drill in my kitchen. I run in there screaming "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!" He says that he HAS to put this hose in before they get the countertop on. At this point there are already holes in my brand new cabinets, so there isn't anything I can do about it but complain next time I go to Sherman's. Then my plumber shows up and runs several other lines, including one much larger than the one Sherman's delivery person ran. The difference is that he ran them up UNDER the counter top rather than drilling more holes in my cabinet. Then I have him install the dishwasher and he moves the hose that the delivery person put in because it isn't even properly placed. It was running along the bottom shelf when the instructions tell you to run it from up high to down low for proper draining. The guy hadn't even put the hose in the right place and because of that my dishwasher probably would have started leaking again because the hose wouldn't drain properly. I went to Sherman's to complain and they talked to me about possibly fixing the holes with a panel and I rejected that idea. I had brand new, fully intact cabinets before their idiot delivery person took it upon himself to damage them against my wishes and they OWE me brand new, fully intact cabinets, not wood spackling and mismatching panels (they are not even ordering the panels from the same place I bought the cabinets and I know this because the estimate they gave me was only $500 and they would need 3 panels which would cost more than that. I spared no expense in redoing my kitchen and now they have completely ruined the entire thing with one action. Now they refuse to make it right. I am going to be filing a claim with my insurance company, AGAIN for the damaged cabinets and let them go after Sherman's for repayment AND my deductible, since they refuse to make it right after their employee took it upon himself to damage my property and they refuse to make it right in the only acceptable way: replace my damaged cabinets with brand new ones like they were before their employee decided to damage it. These cabinets were not even 2 weeks old and had never even been used!!! I still cannot use them. A good 1/4 of my kitchen is sitting in boxes on my floor because I cannot use those cabinets. My entire kitchen project and life has been on hold for 2 months after my kitchen project has been done because I've been waiting on them to do right by me only to find out that they had no intention of doing right by me. I would not recommend buying from this company, ever. Their employees will damage your property and they will not bother to take responsibility. I HAD a Sherman's card. I don't anymore. I've cut it up and I have no interest in doing business with crooks who think they can come in my house, damage my property and not pay for it. read more

Sherman's demonstrated poor customer issue resolution. We purchased an appliance, it was not installed correctly upon delivery and now we have to wait two weeks with a problem we did not cause. We purchased a refrigerator and the doors were not installed correctly and the refrigerator was not leveled. Upon delivery was almost halted due to the salesperson not informing us that Sherman's would not install a refrigerator into a plastic water line. The delivery person then messed with the plastic water line causing it to leak. I let them know we have a refrigerator with uneven doors that rocks back and forth. Rather than fix it right away they elected to put us into the scheduling que and it will be fixed two weeks from delivery. We paid a delivery fee and tipped the delivery persons $20 each. Once you order and pay for an appliance they have zero respect for the customer. I've been told the appliance would be in soon since March. Here it is mid July and i can't get anyone to call the manufacturer/distributor to get a date. they all just say well i checked the online page..... uh duh so does the general public hence why it'd be nice if you went a step further since we are going on 8 months now...... I called Home Depot and they had a guaranteed date within 4 hrs because the rep actually called. Me and my wife had the task of finding and purchasing all of the appliances in our kitchen for a remodel we are working on. We visited Dick Van Dyke appliance world before landing at Shermans. We thought our day would be long after our overwhelming experience at the previous store. We were met promptly in Shermans by a smiling soft spoken man named Marcus. He directed us to his computer station where he promptly be gan printing out appliance models to the exact specification I requested almost as fast as I could spit them out. Never showing an ounce of stress. It was impressive. An hour and 8900 dollars later I had an entire stainless kitchen grouping including refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, drawer microwave and 600 cfm range hood, all 5 year warranties and to be installed by Shermans. There is no way I expected to pay that much for all of that. What a deal. Everywhere else I looked online it would have been closer to 15 k. I would highly recommend Shermans and definitely seek out Marcus. I will shop here again and you should do the same. Best around. read more

My wife and I were just starting to buy all our appliances here. Sherman's would price match, had more personalized sales and offered reasonable extended warranties. Like many folks, we live in a rural area surrounding Bloomington/Normal. Since our last purchase from Sherman's (side by side GE fridge) we were told that they have changed their delivery policy and radius. We now live 'just outside' their delivery radius (by about 3 miles, seriously). We were wanting to buy a new fridge and a new upright freezer for our recently remodeled utility room. Salesman Tony said that Sherman's would not deliver the appliances beyond the radius range shown on the map, period, no exceptions. This is despite the fact that we were only about three miles outside the limit and that they had sold and delivered an appliance to us before. Tony was unmovable, said sorry "company policy" and went back to his desk. My wife and I stood there dumbfounded at the fact that a company, who was so willing to work with us in the past (different salesperson), would refuse a reasonably large sale (two major appliances plus extended warranties) over such a small distance (three miles). To top it off, as a nice gesture, I offered to pay for their gas to deliver the few extra miles. Tony remained unmovable and said "no". It makes me wonder if they will honor the extended warranty on our previously purchased and delivered appliance, should it ever need it. Bottom line, we went to a competitor down the road who matched the prices, had no problem with the delivery, and gave us a discount on purchasing two extended warranties. I've purchased nearly everything I have that plugs in from Sherman's since I moved to town. I like to patronize "small box" local stores when I can and my experience with them reminds me why i do. My most recent purchase was a dishwasher which they delivered and installed -- after matching the lowest price I could find online! Well despite Bosch's reputation for making the best dishwashers, I was thoroughly disappointed (hard to load, poorly designed racks, and mediocre cleaning performance). I called Sherman's to ask if I could exchange it and they said yes - I had only to pay for delivery and installation of the new machine. I went in that evening to select a replacement and by lunchtime the next day my new dishwasher was installed and running! I don't know how a relatively small business can do what they do - internet price matching and exceptional customer service - but they have earned respect and my business. read more

We have bought furniture, mattresses, televisions and appliances from this store. On Oct. 6, we bought a washer/dryer. The dryer quit after 2 1/2 weeks. We have been struggling with this store every since. Finally, they were supposed to deliver a new dryer (which should have happened much sooner than 9 days ago). Due here between 2-4 today. No dryer. When i called to question this I was met with some of the most poor customer experience I have ever encountered. I talked to a manager who "rescheduled delivery" for the following week. We have bought a lot of things over the years from Shermans. Two TVs, living room furniture, deep freeze, clothes washer and dryer, and all our kitchen appliances. Their sales staff is great and we were able to get financing at 0% which really works for us. Recently our dishwasher decided to not release any water during a wash. We called Sherman's to get a repairman out. It would cost $50 just for someone to come out. Great but we still haven't heard back from their service department. (I called yesterday around noon) Just after contacting them we also contacted Dick Van Dyke Appliance World. Their service guy just left. Our dishwasher just happened to work without him doing anything to it. It cost $35 but we got a lot of information from him on what the problem could've been AND there is a 30 day service call warranty. If I ever need any appliances or anything I will go to Dick Van Dyke Appliance World. I believe in good customer service and just the simple fact that Shermans still hasn't called us back changed my opinion of the company. I bought a new mattress and bedroom set here (on 3 separate shopping trips, no less) and couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the items or the customer service. I'd forgotten how crummy furniture salespeople can be until I was in the market for new furniture again. You know -the hard sell, the creepy camaraderie, the bogus "deals", the over-the-top celebration of holidays that *no one else* celebrates... Well, Shermans is different. They answer questions helpfully and respectfully, don't push the sale, tell you up front what you're getting and what you're not, have zero gimmicks, and are genuinely nice and helpful. Plus, they are willing to price-match, so you can't possibly get a better deal. I can see why they have only 5-star reviews! Here's my Sherman's experience: I needed a new bed. A friend told me to go to Sherman's instead of buying something online or from Ikea. So I did. I chose my mattress and asked a few questions about beds and whatnot, as my knowledge of beds consists of laying on them and determining whether or not I could fall asleep. Upon asking the salesman about promotions or sales, he mentioned that -two weeks from this point- there would be a sale that would save me about $80. I said that was great, but that I needed the bed before then. He simply gave me the sale price early and cleared it with his manager. I purchased a new GE washing machine from Sherman's two weeks ago. It is already in need of a part. The salesman who sold me the machine "conned" me into buying an extended warranty, assuring me that if anything happened to the washer within this period, I would receive a replacement washer...no questions asked. Well, not true. I have to have my machine serviced a minimum of three times before a replacement will be given. I will never purchase anything from Sherman's again. They have lost my business forever, and I had purchased numerous appliances as well as furniture and mattresses from them over the past 25 years. Oh, the delivery people also hit my wall and put two dents into my drywall as they removed my old washer and dryer. I had to call customer service twice before they agreed to make this right. All they have to do is claim physical damage then void your 650 dollar warranty. 13 inch crack inside our 80 inch t.v. but they claim physical damage because there is a pinhead chip 10 inches away from the crack. They refused to work with us in any way. The tech made it clear that it was up to him whether it would be physical damage or not. He said it 4 times. Like he wanted us to pay him to get our warranty honored. We have spent thousands here. You would expect better treatment after all these years. There's no need for you to respond to this Sherman's unless you're willing to be honest and treat your customer with some respect. Sherman's is great. We bought a stove, washing machine, and dryer there the week we bought our new house, but we had been in to browse several times before then. The employees there really know their stuff and tend to avoid the used-car-salesman, "hard sell" approach that drives me crazy. They will match any price, but for the appliances we bought, they had the best prices I've seen advertised. I also liked the fact that they will deliver any day of the week, which was great for us, as we both work full time. Delivery was prompt and set-up was quick. We had a major problem with the washing machine we bought there, and Sherman's helped us by setting us up with a GE repair technician. When it couldn't be fixed in two visits, they sent out the delivery truck with a new one. Really great, local service--we'll definitely be back! read more

Run far far away from Sherman's. We purchased all new appliances from them 4 years ago. We have had issues with every single appliance. Anytime they have been out to repair an issue it does not actually get fixed. Our current issue is with a washing machine which is under warranty. We are now 4 weeks into being without a washer. Sherman's has sent 4 different technicians out to look at and make repairs on the machine. Three technicians left stating it was repaired only to run into the same error code and be left without a working appliance. They now want to send out a 5th technician and re-diagnose the issue. They do not stand behind the products they sell and certainly don't know how to fix what they sell. The appliance is under warranty and there is no discussion of offering a replacement. They want to frustrate you to the point where you purchase another appliance from another store so they don't have to stand behind the warranty you purchased. Some major systemic problems with this place. Go anywhere but Sherman's. Initial Post: We recently called for a service repair on a dishwasher. Sherman's responded promptly and we scheduled an appointment. The issue with the dishwasher was that it wouldn't heat so it wouldn't dry the dished. During the service call the technician tested various components. No specific issue could be found so the technician called the manufacturer to discuss the issue. They decided that it was likely the lower control board. This is one of the most expensive repairs that can be made on a dishwasher. The technician left feeling that the dishwasher was fixed. We ran the dishwasher that evening with the same issue. The next morning I called to schedule another service call. During this service call the technician replaced the heating coil/element. This repair fixed the issue. The technicians were always courteous and cleaned up after themselves. My issue with the experience is that I was charged $99.99 (travel fee) for making the appointment. Charged $240.15 for the first service repair that did not fix the issue. Then charged $142.41 for the second service call which did fix the issue. All of these charges totaling $482.55. If an unnecessary "repair" was made and especially when it happens to be one of the most expensive repairs on the appliance, why am I being charged? I called customer service to dispute the charges and they weren't willing to discount any of the fees. I am done shopping at Sherman's! We bought a floor model 80 inchTV. Paid $2,500 for it and another 600 for an extended warranty. Not only would they not cover the damage for the TV, they tried to blame us. Never buy a floor model from Sherman's with the promise that they will cover anything wrong with it. They lie, they just want your money. I've spent thousands of dollars over the years there. And I won't be back. It's too bad that this local company is trying to screw the customer.
