The procedure went smoothly, comfortably, and I felt cared for the entire time. After this good experience, I decided to have a deep clean there. I recently had a deep cleaning done with Dr. Andy, and I'm very happy with the experience. He really took the time to do a thorough and careful job and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure. I was especially nervous about the injection, but I honestly didn't feel any pain at all. Dr. Andy checked in with me regularly and was very patient and professional. All the staff there are very nice, care and helpful. I will continue go there. I would definitely recommended this office to anyone looking for high-quality dental care.

His enthusiasm and passion for dentistry is very obvious, and then, yesterday when I found myself in his chair having a gum grafting procedure over six lower interior teeth, I am happy to report that it was pain-free. He does a procedure many other periodontists steer clear of, (saying it's not possible) called the 'pinhole procedure,' which, instead of flapping the gums back, you make a small tunnel underneath the gum line of the teeth you are grafting, and feed the palatal gum through. It's relatively non-invasive, and the results are spectacular! One day out, I have big fat, beautiful gums, which I know will remodel in the next six months, but I couldn't be happier. If you need a periodontist , THIS is the office to go to! Top-notch and 100 stars!! Pamela Menges, RDHBS

Stay away from this doctor if you are immunocompromised and need your doctor to wear a KN95 or N95…read moremask. I am immunocompromised so I cannot afford to catch COVID again. All my other doctors who I see in office are willing to wear an N95 mask for the short time I am with them in order to keep me safe. Not this doctor. I asked about his office protocols and requested, for safety purposes: masking in office, maintaining air flow, and letting me know if they had had any recent exposure to someone with COVID. Asking about precautions is especially important for chronically ill people in a dentist's office because it is not a medical setting in which we can protect ourselves the way we usually do--with our own masks--so a bit of extra caution is needed on the part of the dentist. Dr. Solow told me that they do wear masks in office. He did add in a thoughtful touch as well, which was that he could offer an N95 to any patients waiting in the waiting room while I was there. That was encouraging. He told me he could follow all the other requested precautions except informing me about Covid exposure since that's impossible to know (I had meant more a super obvious exposure to someone who has Covid, but yes, fair enough). I was set for my appointment in 3 days, which I had made 5 weeks ago. However, when I asked what masks they use, he told me they only use level 3 surgical masks, and would not be willing to swap one out for an N95 mask (the standard), despite the fact that they have them on hand in the office. He told me then I could cancel my appointment if I wanted. Level 3 surgical masks fit very loosely, have unreliable filtration and only protect against large particles, not aerosols, which is how COVID is spread. He told me that the N95 mask hurts to wear one with the surgical telescopes. It is disappointing that Dr. Solow is unwilling to adjust his usual protocols for a 30 minute appointment to help me feel safe. I had seen him once, before I became ill, and he was a very thorough and well spoken doctor. I had hoped to continue seeing him as my dentist. Considering how unwilling he was to make the most slight change to his mask protocols for the brief period of his day that I am in his dental chair, I have decided to move on. I do not believe it is too much to ask doctors to protect the lives of their patients. Do no harm means protecting immunocompromised patients, too. It shows a carelessness for my health, and a disregard for me simply as a person who wishes to not become further disabled. I do not want such a dynamic in a patient doctor relationship. As a sick person, this kind of interaction with a health professional makes you feel disposable. There are many dentists who wear N95s that I have already found today after canceling our appointment, to whom I will bring my business. One of the other dentists I spoke to today agreed that it was quite uncaring not to offer to do this for a patient. Sometimes you do small things for people that may seem like a slight inconvenience for you, but for them mean so much. In this instance, wearing an N95 for the doctor apparently hurts a bit, but for me, getting ill again could have grave consequences. This was clearly not of concern to Dr. Solow. Now I will have to establish care with a new dentist. If you are immunocompromised, chronically ill, and/or are a caretaker for someone who is, or if you're just plain Covid cautious, do not go to this doctor. Otherwise, he's a very good dentist.

Three years back a broken filling meant I had to pluck up my courage, so searched online for dentists that worked with dental phobias and found Doc McConnell at Marin Modern Dentistry. And what an excellent find. He and his team spent a couple of years putting right a lifetime of dental neglect, which required major work including referrals to ortho surgeons... but the crew at MMD helped me through each stage offering different levels of sedation and stress remediation until we are now at the stage that regular cleaning with no sedation is all I need. Most important, every person at MMD listened to my issues, and better still... remembered them next time I was in the chair. And have to give a special shout out to Dan who takes care of my (now) routine checkups and cleanings, as his thoughtfulness is extraordinary.
