If you have sensitive teeth I do not recommend Dr. Yang. He repeatedly dug into my gums and looked away at the computer while doing that. I have never had a dentist do that. After repeatedly telling him my teeth are sensitive and it is written in my files he hit 3 of my teeth 3 times with the butt end of a metal instrument and asked me if it hurt. I cannot go back for fear of what he might do next. It is sad because his dental tech named Christian was the best most considerate tech I have ever had. I spoke with the office manager to confirm my future appointments were canceled, because nobody returned my calls. She apologized for Dr. Yang but said that's just how he does it and tried to explain it away. I let her know I disagreed, and that it was totally unacceptable and thanked her for her time. read more

We recently moved from the city to the Tiburon area and needed to find a new dentist. We did a careful review of the dentists in the area and chose Dr. Yang on his credentials and patient feedback. I started with an initial cleaning and was so happy with his thoroughness that I scheduled a larger procedure that was equally as thorough. Dr. Yang is personable, sincerely vested in his patient's health, and very generous with his time. There were numerous points that he could have up-sold me on a procedure, but didn't and took the time to educate me on what my options were. I sincerely appreciated the transparency in his approach. I was also very impressed with his interest in new dental technologies. I had been to a few of the more highly rated dentists in SF when we lived there, and none compared to what he's doing with his practice. His team was also just as responsive and patient-focused (shout out to Alison!). BEWARE. My husband, our daughter and I have been coming here for a few years. They do a thorough job, but their pricing is arbitrary, charging more for one of us than the other for a cleaning. PLUS, after the cleaning, Dr Yang comes over and looks in our mouths for any issues. This takes less than 3 minutes and he charges an additional $103 for this 'oral evaluation'. That equates to over $2000/hr for his look-see. (Most likely he adds this cost on to make up for adjustments Delta-Dental makes to his fees.). The dental office does not offer discounts to uninsured clients and they up-sale possible unnecessary things like fluoride treatments for 67 year olds. read more

I was apparently out-of-network with the practice, and when I asked for how much I would be out-of-pocket, I could basically hear the receptionist shrugging her shoulders over the phone. Her tone, lack of willingness to help, and overall poor phone demeanor means I won't actually get a chance to experience Dr. Yang's supposed great care. As a brand new resident of Southern Marin, I looked to the internet for dentists in the general area. I did some background digging, and decided that Leo Yang was the one to see. I had my first appointment with Dr. Yang for a general exam, x-rays and cleaning yesterday. Only Dr. Yang was running overtime and I was lucky enough that Dr. Lopez was actually the one to give me the exam and cleaning. I've never had a more thorough exam, and the cleaning went especially smooth. It was almost like I could sleep in the chair. Dr. Lopez was friendly, compassionate and I felt completely comfortable with his exam results and diagnosis. I'll be having my first crown done by Dr. Lopez next week (they have a system wherein a crown can be done in one appointment instead of two...an extra bonus!) Truth be told, one does not need to fear the dentist any longer. New dental tools and technology can make almost every visit pain free. It might hurt the wallet a little but these are my teeth! I have been seeing Dr. Yang for four years and have the utmost respect for him and his team. Dr. Yang always does a thorough exam and always suggests what I could do proactively in terms of my oral healthcare. Like many Baby Boomers, I have my share of amalgam fillings and Dr. Yang recommends replacing them as, he notes, they will fail at sometime "but I can't tell you when that will be." While I am sure that Dr. Leo Yang is not the cheapest dentist in the area, they do accept Delta Dental and Delta's pricing structure. More importantly is the quality of work performed by Dr. Yang and the professionalism, yet very friendly service of the staff. I had to have a molar removed and in less than an hour it was removed, the pocket cleaned out and a bone graft inserted. Dr. Yang explained in detail exactly what he was going to do beforehand. Upon completion, he explained exactly what he did. The fact that both explanations were the same lends me to believe he did his homework before going in. I like that. I've been going to Dr Yang for 2 yrs now for general dental cleanings and really like the office, staff, and Dr Yang. But what is making me write this review is his work on my front chipped tooth. I had a previous filling that had fallen out (traumatically!) and he filled it so fast and it looks incredible. The filling matches my tooth's color PERFECTLY and looks even better than before. He also spent about 5 minutes to get my bite perfectly right and made adjustments so it's just right. He didn't rush me and wanted to get it right. (The previous dentist that filled it said "it'll be hard to match it well to your teeth color" and during the visit had to re-do it completely cause she wasn't satisfied which took much longer.) If you need veneers, get 'em here! I had been waiting for years to get my front teeth fixed that were chipped and ground down. I had even started smiling differently to compensate for the fact that I didn't like my smile. I finally decided to jump in and asked Dr. Yang to help me! I didn't really know what to expect. I knew that at least my smile would be whiter and the teeth elongated. Boy was I surprised! The results are AMAZING. I honestly can't believe it every time I see them. They are beautifully long, white, natural and translucent like real teeth (porcelain). It has completely changed my face. The process was easy and made me very comfortable. We started with a consultation, where Dr. Yang gave me his opinion on what I could have done and an estimate of costs. He recommended I get veneers on the four front teeth when other dentists tried to sell me on redoing my entire upper row of teeth for an exorbitant price! When I decided to move forward, scans of my teeth were taken and sent off to create a model of the recommended augmentation. In the meantime, I was whitening the rest of my teeth so we could get them as white as possible when matching the veneer color at the end. When the digital model was ready, I went in to see it and we made some adjustments so it was to my liking. Then it was sent off to make an actual physical model that would help them to fit the veneers. Now for the big day! Dr. Yang sets it up so you can have the veneers done in one day when other dentists have you come in once for temporaries and then again for the permanent ones. In the morning, my gums were lasered to help further elongate the teeth and even up my gum line. Wow did that make a difference. Then my teeth were prepped for the veneers. Temporary teeth were popped in and I was free to leave for a few hours and have lunch and get some work done. Then back in the afternoon for the final veneers to be added. Dr. Yang had flown in the specialist who makes the veneers so he was on site. The two of them worked together to perfect the teeth. So much attention to detail!! And then just like that, I was done! Easy peasy! As I said, the results are amazing. I opted to not tell my friends to see if anyone noticed. I could see they were looking at my face to figure out what had changed. The teeth look so natural that no one was able to tell until I told them! I've gotten loads of compliments from them. I noticed that I smile bigger and have even more confidence in my appearance. I had been waiting for years to get the veneers done because they aren't generally covered by insurance. But of course as soon as I had them done, I wished I had done it years ago!!!
