We are a family of 5 (3 kids age 15 to 20, mom, dad) who are writing this review together because the Cataract Canyon trip we just took with Sheri Griffiths was so spectacular,,, we really wanted to get this review right. First, a word about our guides, Zhanna and Addy. We hit the jackpot! They were funny (even our 15 year old laughed at their jokes), smart (they knew more about the insects, geology, history of the area than our 18 year old, which never happens), and creative problem-solvers (Addy is an actual boat mechanic, which came in handy when the motor wouldn't start - she was able to diagnose that the choke was sticking open, and fix it). Zhanna and Addy were constantly checking in with us to make sure we were hydrated, fed, reapplying sunscreen, staying cool, etc. Also, they worked incredibly hard, always putting our needs first, making sure we were safe/happy at all times. It was incredible to watch the two of them working like a well-oiled machine loading the boat in the morning, cooking dinner at night, and navigating the rapids with deep boating technical expertise. We had insane wind ("Uncle Gusty" on the river), but Addy and Zhanna stayed positive the whole time, even though it made everything harder for them -- picture (1) an epic battle to get the sun shield up in 50 mph winds because they were determined to protect our skin and (2) navigating rapids safely despite the gusts trying their hardest to throw us into the rocks. We also appreciated how they adapted over time as they got to know us and picked different hikes based on our interests. They took us to see more Ancestral Puebloan granaries when they saw how much we loved learning about the history from them - their respect for Native American history and culture was inspiring. Zhanna is a serious athlete who taught us how to catch the eddies while swimming (zooming) in circles around Airplane Eddy. Next, a word about the company. We picked Sheri Griffiths because they offered the length of trip we needed (2 nights, 3 days). Again, we hit the jackpot. Everything was impressively orchestrated. The orientation the night before was super helpful (would recommend your whole group attend). After reviewing everything from the trip plan to how to close a dry bag, Zhanna took drink orders and hit the grocery store later that night to buy us our favorite brand of seltzers. These personal touches throughout made all the difference! The food was delicious, plentiful, and constant. When we got off the boat, our driver was there watiing for us, and was another friendly guy who knew a ton about the area, and had lots of snacks and drinks for us. Finally, a word about the area. We were mesmerized by the beauty, the solitude, and the care with which everyone treated both the environment and eachother. We checked in with every boat we encountered to make sure all was well. We even grabbed a guide-friend of Addy's for a while to hitch a ride (he was on an 8-day solo trip, rowing the whole way). So, needless to say we are HUGE fans of Sheri Griffith, and even more so Zhanna and Addy. Thank you all for three days that we will never forget. I booked a trip for two people in a paddle boat with Sherry Griffith River Expeditions seven months out from the trip. Less than a week out, after I had already headed west to Utah, I was notified that I would not be able to travel the river in the requested paddle boat and would have no alternative but an oar boat. It was too late for me to do anything about this broken promise/contract but upon my return I contacted the owner of the company. Instead of offering any kind of refund, he offered a discount on future trips. That would require me to invest thousands more. This is not accountable business ownership. Very disappointing that this promise was broken and unresolved satisfactorily. read more

From reservations to drop off - 5 stars all the way! We recently took a trip through Utah's National Parks. Although every park we visited where all exceptionally beautiful and breathtaking, I think our 3 day 2 night rafting trip through Sheri Griffith will be our most memorable time in Utah. This group really have their act together. From the menus, equipments, staff, and systems, made the trip really fun and safe! * Best camping food ever! * Sleeping bags, tents, dry bags, boats, and a slew of custom made tools and equipment, where clean and in excellent condition. * Loved the name system used with the dry bag. * Thank you Bo and Jarvis! The most knowledgable, respectful, strongest, crazy fun river guides ever! We truly enjoyed our experience. We just returned from our 6 day Desolation Canyon rafting trip. We had the time of our lives unplugging and being present in the most awesome nature experience we have ever had. We were so taken care of by our wonderful guides Owen, Em, Landon and Levi. I was quite disappointed with my experience. My guide Jake was awesome but the trip itself was BORING. Not worth the money. It's 8 miles of just calm water with one part of Rapid swimming. Why would I want to swim in a river where they simply tell you to "pee" and "poop" freely. It's disgusting. After the 8 miles of boredom we were giving lunch. Lunch was no special treat. Nothing appetizing. They didn't even offer drinks, other than powder tea, and Gatorade to add to your water. After lunch we FINALLY get to enjoy some rapids for about a mile. Then after that it was another 7 hours of boredom; no rapids. Very disappointed. Not worth your money. read more

The food was amazing, the hopsitality incredible (the guides were always eager to lend a hand and never made us to feel like we were a bother), and the views were made even better by the guides knowlege of the river. Had a blast with our guides paddling down Westwater on a one day rafting trip. The trip itself is a good mix of relaxation and excitement. Sit in the front if you want to get wet! The company had some nice touches along the way, like a snack platter filled with grapes orange slices bananas and bread as soon as we got out on the water in the morning. Suggestion: bring a beer or two for the end, after the rapids when you have roughly an hour or so to swim and relax down the last stretch read more

We took the 3 day trip through Cataract canyon, we had excellent guides who not only kept us safe but let us have a crazy amount of fun. They were very insightful at pointing out the sights as we were passing as we were also able to learn as we were floating. The food, and overall hospitality was first class start to finish, highly recommended. We had the 3 day Green River Rafting trip with our guides Max and Izy Crystal set up our trip and she was very quick and I had great report with her. The trip itself was very interesting, we had a chance to kayak and also to be on the bigger boat, we slept outside even with the tents being offered to us. Good exercise trough kayaking, great hike. The food on the trip was great, our guides were cooking for us every day 3 times a day and I can see they were doing it with passion. I really liked Max and Izy love towards the nature, we were always keeping clean after we leave and we even pick a few plastic bottles left from other groups. I can see they really love the river and the mountains where they work and they were keeping always clean. Great Great Great One think I didn't like is the idea of cooking too much food and also offering a packed snack such as Cheerios, small granola bars etc. I didn't like trowing the remaining eatable food after each meal, I believe it can be better manage = cook less and trow less food. Also I think they can use more environmental hand soaps such as Dr. Bronner's or something similar. This great company can promote more environmental products and less plastic. Maybe even aluminum bottles which people can refill with water all the time. Overall we had a great time and I'm definitely recommending them !!! read more

Wish I could give them 6 stars. We went on a half day rafting adventure with Mandy. Total people in our party were 5, perfect size. Loved the intimacy of our trip, the private lunch on the beach and all the fun facts about the river we learned from Mandy. She even made drip castles with my 5 year old, so sweet. My family and I recently got to enjoy four days and three nights of the grand beauty of the Gates of Lodore trip SGRE offers. This was my first ever rafting trip and i still am in awe. There are no words to accurately describe the beauty and solitude of this entire section of the Green River. Our trip leader Rich and the five other guides made sure we were all safe and went above and beyond to make our experience as comfortable and fun as it could be. All the guides were very knowledgeable about every inch of the Canyon. Rich's love for the river made him a great leader and his jokes kept me in stitches. Brenda's excitement about parts of the area and the history of it all was a joy to listen and learn. Bo's readings at night were awesome and I'll always remember Floyd's Void. Aaron always made sure we had a drink in hand. Howdy! Waking up to fresh coffee by the sound of Chris' trumpet was a welcome sound and to hear him play on the river was magical. Lindsay was always there making sure we were all having a killer time, showing us fun new river games. All the food the guides prepared was amazing! We just finished a trip with Sheri Griffith Expeditions on the Green River near Moab. We took the whole family from my 12 year old niece to my almost 80 year old father. Our guides were Stephanie, Chris and Taylor. The guides took great care of us and could not have been nicer. They had a terrific attitude and truly enjoyed their job and the out of doors. This was my first overnight rafting trip although I have done a lot of camping and white water canoeing. The equipement was great. The food was the best I have ever had on a camping trip. We had a few minor issues and the guides handled them and us in stride. I could not recommend our guides and Sheri Griffith enough. If I go rafting again, I would surely use them as an outfitter. read more

We took the full day white water rafting tour with Erick as our tour guide. He was great! Tons of interesting facts about the river and each rapid. Lunch was an excellent spread of make your own sandwiches. The bus to and from had ample room and was a great tour of the Colorado river on the way back. Everyone there was very friendly and happy to help. A+. Both other tour guides were very friendly and made the day great. Would highly recommend it. read more
