Aubrey was delightful as our rafting guide. Full of interesting knowledge of the are with a sense of humor. Navigating the river with skill and finding the best place to stop for a meal. With my brother, went on a rafting trip with Tag-A-Long down the Westwater Canyon in late June 2012. Weather was ideal--hot but not blistering, with cool river water for periodic swimming. While the rapids wasn't overly wild (blame the mild winter and dry spring), there were enough bumps and drops to be lots of fun. Our guide Jay was chock-full of knowledge, not just about the river and the routes, but also the geologic and natural history of the canyon, with a few wild west outlaw stories thrown in for good measure. Tag-A-Long had a nice lunch on the river--watermelon was delicious and the Mexi-cones (tortillas folded like an ice cream cone and filled with some kind of chicken-bean mix) gave the energy to complete the trip. For those that go on this trip, bring a book or something to do on the bus--it's about 90 minutes from Moab to the river drop-in, and just a little too bumpy for a nap (even though I managed one anyway). read more

Eh... no. The most boring trip we've ever taken. So much money for something so not worth it. This is for four of us, 2 teens, 2 adults. We were looking for wild and came across a brochure "Full day or 1/2 day including rafting." Found out it was too late for full day but had time for half day river rafting. It sounded fun! Ooooops, my mistake, this is not even close to wild and none of us get to hold the oars. This is actually perfect for families with toddlers. The rapid is extremely mild but you actually don't see it for 3/4 of the mile- you just sit there and bask in the sun moving very slowly down the river. I actually spent close to $200 for five hours of tanning in plain canyon area (no particular or exciting formation to see) when I could get the tanning free elsewhere. We just took the afternoon jet boat ride on the Colorado river. We had a blast! Jesse was our tour guide and he did an awesome job showing us points of interest. I would definitely take this trip! We loved Moab and we can't wait to come back! read more

I had a nice time on the jet boat ride but there were some difficulties. The water was really high and there was a lot of debris. The boat had to stop three times to have "surgery" (cleaning out the jets). One of the surgeries took almost ten minutes. Our driver, Craig, was a really nice guy and he was a very good guide. He cleaned out the jets each time without complaint. But when the boat was running normally, the scenery was beautiful. I took the jet boat, which is covered from the sun and it runs two times a day. I was appreciative of the roof and of the 1pm leave times (as opposed to a really early leave time). I suggest checking about the state of the river when you book your trip. The debris was really a bummer and I'm sure if we hadn't stopped so many times, we could have gone farther along the river. All in all the people were nice and the service was good. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Moab. read more

We just today got off the family Pirates of the Colorado all-day expedition. Best trip ever!! My family (myself, my wife and sons age 6 & 11) absolutely loved it. Gunner is an amazing guide, so wonderful with the kids, really skilled with the boat. It is described perfectly on the website, it's an all-day affair. Gunner pulls the raft over onto a beach and cooks you a very generous and tasty lunch. The kids were screaming with sheer joy when we went over the rapids and literally couldn't get enough of them. The pirate-ish stuff was nice but certainly not the draw at all. We actually got stuck in a really crazy lightning and rain storm which made everyone in the boat freezing cold. My 6yo was shivering and Gunner gave him his dry rain jacket and did his best to make him really comfortable. Gunner saw the end of the storm clouds around the bend and pushed us through. Once the sun came out we all dried off and had the time of our lives! Highly, highly recommended for any family finding themselves in the Moab area with kids who are a bit adventurous. They will have the time of their lives and memories that they will never forget. read more

Went on a full day water rafting trip on Saturday...thank you to Charlie our guide, Owen who helped my friend with first aid, and to Carlyle our awesome bus driver! OMG, What a blast! We took an ancient school bus to our river launch point. Immediately we were fitted with life jackets, smiles and then lunch began. Once on the river we made friends with all on the boat and the fun began. There were 3 boats total. Paulina guided ours, Katie and Keefe the other two; all excellent guides. Our boats became teams that pitted each other in competitions that kept us laughing hysterically all the way downstream. By the end we were all friends. Awesome trip! read more

This review if for the afternoon/half-day rafting. First the good. Gunner, our raft guide, was first-rate; he knew the river, he knew the topography and the geology. A real class act. Tiffany, our driver, was tops, too. Sliding off the raft into the Colorado River and floating nearby in the 95 degree heat was great, and the kids had a ball. Now the caveats: this is really a "Class One Rapid River with Class Five Scenery." If you have rafted the Snake River and think you will get the same thrills, you won't. But, now that you know.... OK, now the not great. You gather at 11:30, and then you Wait, and Wait, and Wait. In this case we were waiting for a family that was doing a TagALong 4x4 in the AM. We didn't leave till 12:20. Then you drive about 20 mins up the Colorado, and Tiffany does a great job pointing everything out. Then you get to the launching area. And you wait, and wait and wait while they prep lunch - which is really NOT why any of us are there...but they have to feed the folks from the morning rafting who are waiting there when you pull up. Until you FINALLY get in the rafts at 2pm. Then it gets much better (see above). We hit Take-Out-Beach at about 3:45 and were back at the office just about 4:30. Not sure if any of the other rafting companies operate on a much-different time schedule, but that's how it worked with T-A-Long. read more

We did the Canyonlands Jeep tour (1/2 day) with Lisa as our driver and guide. It was beyond anything we could have expected. Lisa is amazing. She knows everything about the area - flora, fauna, people, geography, geology. So interesting and she is very engaging. Plus her superb driving skills. Can't say enough about our tour and guide. I was in Moab and few weeks back with friends and we decided to do the Westwater canyon with Tagalong, and I'm so glad we did. These guys KNOW THEIR STUFF. We were taken down the river with Isaac and Chris- two super chill, but very knowledgeable, accomplished and strong guides. We all felt well prepared and most important of all, in safe hands with Isaac, whose boat we were in! This guy knows this stretch of river inside- out, every nook and cranny... He was fantastic! I can't heap any more praise upon him. We had a cracking day out, loved every second of it! Even though water levels are lower than usual, we had a riot! The canyon is just so peaceful, yet gnarley enough in places for good times! Next time I'm in moab I'll do this again, no doubt! P.s shout out to our driver Tiff! Wonderful! They were able to get us into the Fiery Furnace in Arches. The NPS was not doing guided hikes at this time of the year (March 15, 2016). It was breath taking! Our guide Bill was very knowledgeable of the area, it's history and the geology of the park too! And Bill was just a fun guy to has as a guide. read more

Very bad experience. :2 days with overnight on the river with a very bad organisation. This tour is for 1 half day ,that s enough ,and 2 days is ridiculous, Specialy. To stay on a river beach from 3pm to...11 am the next day.. And ,last but not least ,they forget the transfer return...we had to wait one hour at 3 pm in the sun....to have our car....in late without excuses or explications ! read more

My father lives in Moab and invited us out for a day trip down the river. He booked with tag a long and I have to say it was an excellent choice!! We took the West Water Canyon trip and it was AMAZING!! The water was high from the snow run off and moving fast! We had out 15 and 19 year old sons with us and we put them up front as the hood ornaments. I have never heard our youngest one laugh so loud or so hard! All while having huge waves wash over him! Our guide Gunter (I believe this is how his name is spelled) was wonderful! His knowledge of the area, of the geology was absolutely fascinating! It's so great when you get a guide who loves his job and you can not only see it in his face but you can hear it in his voice! He was perfect in guiding us through some of the dangerous Rapids and making sure we were having a great time. The other guide (on the second boat) Isaac and the bus driver Warren with both very knowledgable and interesting as well. If you take this trip it is a long bus ride out and back and the bus is bumpy but the guys are pointing things out left and right so it goes by fast. We are looking forward to coming back and doing the two day cataract trip next year! read more

Awesome experience. A busy spot (which is a good thing) that always has tours going out. We did the 1/2 day of 4x4 through Islands in the Sky and 1/2 day rafting. Both were fantastic, although if you have to pick one--definitely do the Islands 4x4. Very friendly staff and guides. read more

We signed up with "City Discovery" for a tour of Arches National Park. We selected this particular tour because they indicated that they used a van and we wanted to be relatively comfortable if we were going to be riding for 4+hours. The tour was conducted by Tag-A-Long Expeditions. The guide arrived to pick us up in a Jeep and we were informed that our traveling companions would be picked up at the tour office. Our driver needed the seat back and my wife and I had to sit in the back seat, 3-across for the afternoon. This was both uncomfortable and difficult to deal with, getting in and out. The vehicle was dirty and suited for 2-3 people wanting to off-road, not to have a comfortable driving tour. The tour guide, while friendly, didn't know much at all about the various sites. The tour was cut short by nearly an hour and we learned little about the various features of the park. read more

A really good 4wd experience going through canyon lands. The only down fall is someone has to sit in middle in the rear seat during the drive. That aside the guide and driver Matt was great and was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the area and history. Would do this again if given the chance. read more

My husband and I booked the overnight Cataract Canyon trip through Tag-A-Long Expeditions and we are so glad we did. Ben was our guide with Aubrey as his assistant. Ben and Aubrey treated us like royalty making sure we had everything we needed. Ben was very knowledgeable about the area and we learned so much. On our first day we went through 9 rapids. Ben explained exactly what we should expect. We camped at the end of rapid 9 which was a beautiful campsite. Ben cooked us steak and potatoes with an exceptional appetizer. After breakfast we were expertly guided through the 21 rapids. Ben did an outstanding job of giving us a outstanding ride!!!!!! This whole trip exceeded our expectations!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Ben and Aubrey for giving us a once in a lifetime adventure that we will be talking about for years to come. We highly recommend Tag-A-Long Expeditions and ask for Ben as your guide. Did a half day raft trip with Noah and Isaac as our guides. We took our 12 and 11 year old grandsons with us and had a blast. Trip was interrupted in order to help out a large group of kayaking scouts who were in trouble and had lost one of their scouts. Noah and Isaac were very professional in guiding them to safety and where they could get more help, while ensuring our trip remained safe and enjoyable. We did a half day trip, starting at noon. The guides (OWEN, Dan, and Cole) were awesome! They were super fun, knowledgable about the river, and good cooks :-) Lunch was included in this trip and it was more than what you usually experience with boxed sandwiches and chips. On the trip you get to get out of the raft and float along the river if you choose (only in safe areas- Owen would never lead you into danger). Thanks, guys! read more

Don't expect great customer service from Tag-a-long tours. Sure you'll have a great time because it's Moab but the owners don't seem interested in making your adventure comfortable or fun. Too bad I stopped here first because it was on the main road, I would have had a better time elsewhere. read more

This is a belated "THANK YOU" and review for a job well done in rescuing me from the local river .... I had mistakenly thought I could navigate the river east of town about 7 miles on a single person tube.... which went fine until I was hung up in a whirlpool that had me trapped. Until that point I was on my own and following a circular path...finally after jumping off the tube into the ICY water to "kick" myself to shore....hypothermia set in within minutes yet made it to shore in exhaustion... only to face a steep uphill climb to the clearing above the vegetation... An employee of Tag- A-Long had seen my plight passing me in the river on his long boat canoe. He came back on shore and plowed though head high vegetation of about 50yrds throwing me a rope to haul me up the steep incline. I was a rubber noodle shivering beyond belief. The employee removed his shirt and put it on me in place of the wet cotton shirt...they KNOW what they are doing and I was not even a paying customer. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU....TAG A LONG...you saved my bacon and provided me relief and comfort that day. read more

We were very disappointed by our Tagalong experience. We had booked a fiery furnace hiking and a jeep tour in Arches national park. The day before, we came to Check of everything was OK and it was. After a 6am wakeup, Bill, a friendly guide, came to pick us up at our hotel. We stopped at the Tagalong agency to pay for the total amont a the tour (670 $) and Bill drove us to the park. At the visitor center, We watched a movie on the canyon We were going to hike and a nice ranger girl told us We were very lucky. Only a 100 people can hike in this part of the park every day. Kids were very excited. But when We got out of the video room, Bill told us: i've got bad News for you guys. You are not going to do it because Tagalong do not have enough permits for today. It is not my fault, I am just the guide. Someone Will bring you back to the agency. I need to bring the other family to the canyon. But you Will not. At the agency, same kind of words: We are sorry, we made a mistake. Not a proposal for another day or to do something else. No real compassion. We got reimbursed except for the fees of our Bank on crédit card paid abroad. Tagalong may have good and friendly guides but there are not professional. How could they discover they did not count the right number of permits once we were in the park after having watched the video ? If you can, choose another agency. There are many in Moab, and many cheaper than Tagalong. read more

We scheduled a half day rafting and a half day 4x4 tour of Canyonlands NP. The schedule they emailed us stated our tour began at 7:30am with the 4x4 tour. So we arrived at 7:15 only to be told our day would start at 9:45 with the rafting! Of course the young lady at the office pointed out the fine print that stated the times and order of events could change! So much for getting up so early. The rafting was very boarding and when we arrived at the end of the rafting portion, the bus was not there! We waited 45 minutes for the bus. Lunch was included, so when we arrived back, we were late for lunch and the 4x4 tour. They drove us to a park where we make our own cold cut sandwichs (which were good). Shortly after we started to eat, the guide (with his 4x4) for our Canyonlands tour arrived. Interestingly, the 4x4 tour was by NAVTEV, not Tagalong! We were later told that Tagalong lost their permit to give 4x4 tours in Canylands NP so they subcontract! NAVTEC's tour was excellent and I would recommend them. We plan on using NAVTEC when we return to Moab in 2-3 years. read more
