Mango Lassi
Sarah W.

Delicious, every time! I've been coming here occasionally for about a decade now (which is crazy to think!). It hasn't changed, in the best way! It's so consistently good! This time, I decided to not get my go-to and instead try something new, and I am so glad I did! I almost always get a lamb curry because it's a less common meat to find other places, and they always cook it perfectly. The lamb Rohan josh or the lamb dilruba are my favorites. This time, however, I got the mixed grill. The lamb, two kinds of chicken, and the shrimp were all delicious! I think the tikka chicken was my favorite but I'd definitely get it all again.!I also tried the mango lassi for the first time and it was amazing! We also had the keema naan and the saag paneer, which are a couple of our regular favorites! I've had saag paneer at several restaurants but I prefer Shere Punjab's version. The consistency is perfect! And the keema naan has the perfect amount of lamb filling and is so flavorful! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants that I will always keep coming back to!

Shrimp korma
Nina S.

Came on a Friday night for Indian and left fully satisfied! Service throughout the night was good and we were well looked after. Ordered: Paneer naan; thin layer of cheese throughout bread Lachha paratha: buttered thin bread Both were served hot before mains came, great of their own, with sauce, and with main Chicken tikka: always a good time and this was no different, big chicken portion, buttery, and flavorful Shrimp korma: big fresh shrimp tail on, plenty of nuts, very sweet so be sure to get it more spicy to counter balance the flavors Mango lassi: a little small but refreshingly sweet and tangy Will be back!

Fantastic food. It can be slow at times, but that is likely because the food is made to order. Staff is super nice too.

I tried their mango lager beer, and it might be my new favorite beer. I also had their garlic naan, chicken kebabs, and chicken masala. Everything was AMAZING! We ordered some beverages and the Gobi Pakora (cauliflower fritters) to start. A few of us ordered the Rupee IPA and mango wheat ale, each of which was specifically brewed to go with spicy Asian foods. The mango flavor perfectly complemented the flavors in the food so I definitely recommend ordering it for those who enjoy up here with dinner. I had the mixed tandoori grill, which had chicken kebab, chicken, tikka chicken, tandoori, and shrimp tandoori. They had the right amount of flavor in spice for a delicious platter meal.. my wife ordered the aubergine vindaloo and the smoky chard baby eggplant was delicious as were the vegetables and sauce sauces in which it was served. We'll have to come back for a dessert because we were so full from the appetizer and main course. I have my eyes set on the mango lassi gelato. We were happy to see that place we used to avoid has really come back in into our heavy restaurant rotation because we love to support the local restaurants when we are able

The coconut Mojito was perfect and the corpse survivor number two was an interesting and enjoyable cocktail that I would not make it home and that's why i get unique cocktails when I go out. We shared the Gobi (cauliflower) 65 - one of the best cauliflower dishes I've ever had, nicely spicy and cooked so well, a paneer dosa, Samosa Chat, and Bachi Dum (chicken) biryani. Along with some onion kulcha. We always love the delicate dosa with different fillings - paneer this time but the potatoes and onions would be delicious options too). I make biryani at home. Mine is always just OK or pretty good and definitely not as rich and flavorful as this one was - maybe the best I've had. The mango chili Paloma a perfect compliment to a spicy food and my spicy pineapple margarita was a nice change of pace as well. Taj is our favorite local Indian restaurant and should be yours as well.

Miso soup was delicious and hearty - just what you need on a cold day outside. Both, noodles and fried rice were great. It is a tragedy that I was only planning to visit Portland for less than a day, so I didn't have the opportunity to dine in at the Green Elephant. However I would contemplate driving up from Boston just to have their Singapore noodles again. It was so flavorful, and the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture. The level 2 spice in the online ordering menu was not spicy at all, but the food still had a good amount of sauce and flavor. The dish was definitely heavy on the noodles and probably only had 4-5 bite-sized pieces of tofu for protein, but the noodles certainly were my favorite part. And for only about $15-20 per main dish, this is one of the more accessible/affordable restaurants for vegan options in Portland!

Looking up the menu online I found it had a great selection of Pakistani/Indian food. And the real treat was this place was affordable! As someone who eats alone fairly often this was great, especially since Indian restaurants tend to be pricier for individuals. Online the menus averaged between $11-$13 per entree ($2.50 for the likes of naan). I was sold. When I got to the place I excitedly walked up and ordered chicken kahari and garlic naan before being told my total was $26. I was expecting a total about $10 less than that. I went ahead and completed the order but I was a bit put off. I found a paper menu taped to a fridge nearby with updated pricing. Items were greatly upped, some even doubling. If consider you going here please use this photo for reference. The food took about 30 minutes to receive, came out piping hot. Overall it was pretty good. Not the best I've had but definitely hit the spot. I didn't finish it all, they give you a decent amount. This place was ok, but I definitely got a "to-go" vibe from the inside. It's just a bummer the prices aren't "to-go" prices. If I'm paying $30 for dinner I'd like to sit down in a decent restaurant.
