Mango Lassi
Sarah W.

Delicious, every time! I've been coming here occasionally for about a decade now (which is crazy to think!). It hasn't changed, in the best way! It's so consistently good! This time, I decided to not get my go-to and instead try something new, and I am so glad I did! I almost always get a lamb curry because it's a less common meat to find other places, and they always cook it perfectly. The lamb Rohan josh or the lamb dilruba are my favorites. This time, however, I got the mixed grill. The lamb, two kinds of chicken, and the shrimp were all delicious! I think the tikka chicken was my favorite but I'd definitely get it all again.!I also tried the mango lassi for the first time and it was amazing! We also had the keema naan and the saag paneer, which are a couple of our regular favorites! I've had saag paneer at several restaurants but I prefer Shere Punjab's version. The consistency is perfect! And the keema naan has the perfect amount of lamb filling and is so flavorful! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants that I will always keep coming back to!

Possibly the best that I have had out of India or Pakistan. The Daal soup is my favorite. Yummy!

The issues were glaring though. We arrived early for a group reservation of 10 and started at the bar. The service was very slow and we got the sense that the bartender was frustrated that we showed up early with the idea to have a cocktail before our reservation. Bar service continued to be painstakingly slow throughout the night. The restaurant was somehow out of several of their menu options (despite the restaurant not being busy on a weekend day). Not the end of the world, but it left us asking some questions. The major issues really arose when our entree courses were served. They had somehow ran out of french fries, and you could see that in the portion size of the frites in our steak frites (the picture included in our review was our plate -- we had BY FAR the most fries out of those at the table who ordered steak frites). And they ran out of steak - one of the people at our party who ordered steak frites was served a hamburger (which isn't even on the menu). Overall, I thought that we overpaid for the food and if it wasn't for the good company at our dinner - I would have been very frustrated.

We already have some excellent local Asian restaurants but we don't have too many places, serving upscale bistro and pub food in an attractive setting. As this was our first time here, our server, Joshua, Was especially helpful and attentive in beverage and menu selections. And he did a really nice job of trying that all of the dishes came out at the right time in the right order, which isn't done often enough. Joshua highly recommended the falafel and I join him in that recommendation. The switch to lentils is the base made an exceptionally light but tasty version of a wonderful favorite. The mug, fish and cabbage dish was delicious, though maybe a bit larger certain of lentils, maybe with a bit more spice, would've made this dish even better . The risotto with crab was delicious, but the crab was lost in the dish, so it probably would be better as a crabcake or as a amount of crab meat on top of the risotto. And normally addition to risotto are made at the very end anyway, so this makes sense to get the most out of the crab. We had several glasses of wine, with generous pours; the Sancerre was exceptionally good and paired well with everyone's dishes. There are some excellent local beers on top as well for those who want beer rather than wine. One of our group had some of the oysters and said that they were extremely fresh and delicious - they were local from Brunswick (Mere Point). The desserts and after dinner drinks looked good, but we were full enough that we'll wait until another visit to do that.

The place is much smaller than we realized. We were seated and started with some house cocktails, served in topper bottles. Our server was great, and seemed knowledgeable. We had some oysters and they were fine. I don't mean just ok. I mean we really aren't oyster people. Other seemed to really like them. I will say that the horseradish ice was interesting. The main item was the brown butter lobster roll. We all had it and most of us thought it was really good. The contrast of flavors was unique. What really was surprising was the lobster stew that was really good. I didn't have high hopes, but the green curry really worked in the flavor profile. This is definitely a must stop.

This was one spot that I was really excited to try, and they definitely did not disappoint. They don't have reservations, so we waited in line before they were opening on the weekend. Come at least 30 to an hour before they open because as soon as they don't have a seating, you will have to wait at least one or two hours. I have tried different oysters from here, and they were all my favorites. They were so fresh, if I wasn't so full, I could've eaten another 24 oysters. The seating is a little cramped, and our table was right by the bathroom, so that also made it feel a little bit more crammed. I wouldn't get their lobster roll here because it was not worth your money or time or taste. They are super tiny too. Are these for ants?! Skip everything else and just get those oysters. This place is worth coming back for sure.
