We are frequent diners at Pepper's Landing. We always order seafood and it is consistently fresh and prepared to perfection. We love the Tuesday night option and the Sunday Suppers. The restaurant and the rest rooms are spotless and the restaurant is managed efficiently . For us, it is all about the service. Robin is always welcoming and friendly. She is super knowledgeable about the food and drink menu and does a phenomenal job multi tasking as the bartender tender and server. She does it effortlessly and always with a smile. We decided last minute that a final seafood dinner in Maine would be in order. Lots to choose from but we chose this place. Indoor and outdoor seating was available. Actually, even though it was windy, it was kind of cold inside, so we chose outside. Dawn was our server and she could not have been nicer. She talked us through several of our questions about food on the menu. We ordered the calamari prepared pepper's way. Really good. We then each ordered the stuffed halibut. It was also good, but you had to eat it quickly because it got cold fast. We ordered broccoli as our vegetable side, but the chef gave us stir fried squash and zucchini. Dawn was embarrassed and went back for the broccoli. However I ate all of the mixed vegetables because they were actually quite good. I made a reservation for my husband's 75th birthday a week in advance, and it was confirmed by open table. I really wanted it to be a special night for him. We drove for three hours to get there. When we arrived at the restaurant, the host, who I later found out was the manager, said that he had no reservation for us. I showed him the reservation confirmation. We were seated at a table,. I asked if we could have a booth. There were two empty booths, but he said they were for reservations. I pointed out that we have a confirmed reservation, but that didn't count. Apparently some reservations are more important than others. We got stuck at a crappy table, where we were ignored for a long time. Our server did the best that she could, given that she seemed to be covering al lot of tables. The people in the, booths got plenty of attention. My husband,who is much more tolerant of restaurant delays than me was.on the point of walking out when the food finally arrived. The food,once it arrived was quite good. The restaurant's idea of adequate compensation was a free dessert. All I wanted for my husband's 75th birthday was a pleasant meal. Instead we got ridiculous excuses like we were at the wrong restaurant, when the reservation said Brunswick, and inadequate compensation. If the person who claimed he is the manager is really the manager, he should be fired for incompetence. read more

They have a live lobster tank filled with Maine lobster here. Our group stopped in for lunch and had a variety of dishes: clam chowder, artichoke dip, lobster stew, assortment of fried finger foods, and a Kennebunkport lobster roll. The Assortment of fried finger foods (aka Pepper's Platter) came with whole belly clams, scallops, shrimp, and haddock over a bed of fries. Lobster stew was a creamy bisque base with pieces of lobster knuckle and claw. The artichoke dip contained quartered pieces of artichoke hearts and came with house made potato chips and buttered toast strips. The lobster roll was ok - the lobster meat was a bit dry and the vinaigrette-flavored Kennebunkport topping overpowered any lobster taste. There seemed to be less lobster meat to accommodate the topping too. I would go with one of the more traditional lobster rolls next time. Portions are hearty here and most seafood items are market price. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. read more

We experienced great service during a busy happy hour with awesome drink and appetizer specials. I've stopped in a couple times, just never seem to get around to writing a review. Yesterday I had been out running errands and was starving. Stopped in a little after 1 pm. There weren't many people in the restaurant when I came in but it was Memorial Day and raining. I was alone so sat at the bar anyway. Bartender/waitress was friendly. I ordered a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries (there was a small upcharge but I think that's pretty typical). My burger was seasoned and cooked well. Choice of cheeses available. Dinner here Tuesday 18 July - I was so excited to introduce my dining partner to the glory of a delicious Maine lobster roll, and found a restaurant that was open late (until 8pm) and had good Yelp reviews. The dinner got off to a bad start - hostess seated us at absolutely the worst table in the restaurant (a great view of the bathrooms) even though there were plenty of other tables available. Perhaps we did not meet her expectation of diners? We had hope when our Caesar salad arrived - fresh, crisp, light green romaine, a tremendous amount of cheese, lots of ordinary croutons, and dressing on the side. And then the mains showed up. Dining partner's $30 lobster mac'n'cheese was attractively garnished with a few attractive pieces of lobster, maybe 2oz of lobster and toasted crumbs, but the noodles and sauce were reminiscent of alfredo paste in taste, color, and consistency, possibly one of the blandest mac'n'cheese variants we'd ever had. Pasta was well overdone even before it met the nondescript cheese sauce and there was no lobster flavor other than the few small chunks. I'd ordered a Brunswick lobster roll, warm with butter, gluten free ($33 with upcharge for GF and change to fries). The server informed me that it would be on a GF hamburger roll, which was fine. The problem was that there was absolutely no butter on the lobster or on the toasted roll, leaving me with somewhere between 2.5 and 3 oz of very chewy dry warm reheated lobster on a very dry gluten free roll. Unfortunately I wasn't able to flag down our server and ask for butter, though I tried. I'd asked to substitute sweet potato fries for the french fries (IIRC same price on the menu, but an upcharge for them as it was a substitution) and they were delicious and the highlight of the meal. But... we went for lobster, we were out $100, and the lobster really had been disappointing. Tonight I told dining partner I was writing this review and he said "UGH. That meal was awful. I hope you're giving them one star." read more

They were able to accommodate our larger group with two tables. Inside was nice with some high ceilings. Service was good. I ordered a lobster roll with butter and regular fries. We've been here many times but we won't be back. Our Mother's Day dinner was a disaster. We waited forever for drinks and dinner. Food finally came out cold and burned. I usually refuse to eat in a shopping center but the good, very fresh seafood and friendly but not too up close and personal service has my coming back here over and over. My grandkids get fish and chips served in a colorful boat with a wedge of orange and choice of drink plus a toy for a very reasonable price. Think happy meal but sooo much better tasting and healthy for the kids. Very popular seafood restaurant. Loud too! The food is good if a bit overpriced. We arrived mid afternoon and there was a 30 minute wait. My only issue was with the hostess. She looked at us like we came from another planet as soon as we entered the restaurant. All I remember was that she had short dark hair and was a bit older. We came as a party of 5 for lunch on a Sunday, and the place was pretty quiet at noon with just a couple other tables seated. I ordered a cup of clam chowder as an appetizer and then the chicken sandwich with a side salad. The clam chowder was very tasty with a decent amount of clam pieces. The fried chicken sandwich with tomato aioli sounded really good, but the aioli did not appeal to me once eating it. The batter for the fry came off very easily and fell onto the plate. Came here for a quick lunch. Service was friendly, started somewhat slow, clean and comfortable ambiance. Calamari and crab quesadilla were great. I had the shrimp and scallop pasta, just okay, a little bland and pasta was a little over cooked. Everyone else, thought the salmon tacos were good, just overpriced for 2 tacos. This is an okay place for lunch and dinner, nothing to write home about and it's pricey for mid coast Maine in my opinion. The last time I reviewed Peppers Landing I gave it three stars. Today we found things have gotten a little worse. The shrimp tacos were very disappointing. The shrimp were barely cooked and the taste was off. I actually left them on the tray. My companion has the blackened haddock sandwich and commented that it was barely warm. I admit I had low expectations as we stopped driving through. Expectations exceeded. They had a really nice haddock chowder, decent lobster roll and beer was ice cold. What solidified the experience was the service for the kids where the my let the kids pick a toy from a treasure chest and even served their food in a happy meal like box that was a boat - kids loved that! We went to Pepper's Landing for my SOs work function. I was looking forward to trying something new. But, sadly was a little disappointed in my dish. I will say that was the only disappointment but it was a big one. I got the lobster mac & cheese. It was inedible. It was doused in gruyere cheese, completely overpowering any lobster flavor. The portion was large & the lobster was plentiful but it did not matter because the flavor was totally off-putting. I took about 4 bites & gave up. My SO got the fried scallops and they were delicious. We also splurged on dessert, the blueberry pie was 100% homemade & amazing. I also tried the snickers martini, very good. Not a bad little restaurant - the strip mall location and general presentation look a bit touristy / franchise-wannabe but the food is legit and that's really all that matters at the end of the day. There's a wide range of menu options - from classic Maine seafood fare to burgers n fries and even a pretty decent gumbo (that probably could have a little more flavor but as is I certainly didn't regret getting it). The portions are pretty huge, which is certainly appreciated In This Economy. Servers are friendly and the place runs pretty efficiently, which is also never really a guarantee post-2020... All in all a good spot if you're looking for something to eat or even to get a few drinks at - there's a fully stocked bar and a huge cocktail list I've yet to try.
