Amazing food and service. They are one of my favorite eateries in the Brunswick area.

Shirley and I have eaten at Shere Punjab many times and I am writing this review because the high standard of consistent excellence here could not be better and should be noted !. The Chicken Korma is to die for, ah the flavor!. Their Basmati Rice is always fluffy, light and delicious. The papadum with tamarind sauce just melts in your mouth. Tikka Masala which Shirley had, which I also tasted, was equally memorable. The owner and his family are consistently and persistently attentive to every detail, complete with a friendly smile and good-to-see-you as you walk in. I have eaten at Indian restaurants all over Maine, Ct, New Hampshire and Mass. I can "honestly say" Shere Punjab is my favorite hands down. The food here is fantastic. Not only is the Indian food great, they are very true to form with their Pakistani dishes as well. Prices are very reasonable for the area, and the decor in the restaurant is lovely. The only caveat is that parking is very difficult. Don't try to get close or you'll just waste gas. read more

The food is fine...the service was not! The waiter was rude and practically threw our plates onto the table, barely said a word to us. We didn't let it bother us at first but his negative energy with each interaction continued. When the check came to the table he came over 3 times and opened the folder to see if our credit card was in it. There were other parties there so it wasn't as though we were keeping them waiting so that they could close. I never complain because I like to give people a break but this was unacceptable. Being a new yorker, I have tried a lot of indian cuisines. Shere Punjab was an average place. The place was very busy when we got there, so had to wait for about 40 mins to get our food. Customer service was OK, but the wait period was very long. I am not sure if they messed up the spiceness level we ordered or the food is spicy itself. I used to eat there often, but I won't be going back. I've tried them twice in the last year. The first time I waited 45 minutes for takeout which was so bad that I didn't eat it. The second time I ate in - as I said I used to like it a lot, and anyone can have a bad day - but the service was again incredibly slow and the food was at best bland. Went in for dinner with my family and felt belittled by the wait staff who raised their voices at us and made us feel unwelcome. They seemed hesitant towards us from the moment we walked in. The food here is so fresh and fantastic! I have been twice and it's absolutely delicious, and so affordable. My boyfriend and I had 3 appetizers, 2 meals and a glass of wine for only $46! Everything I have tried has been delicious. The coconut naan is to die for, and they give you free cracker style bread with 3 yummy sauces. The staff was very friendly too. Its a small restaurant, so on busy nights you may have trouble finding seating, but its so worth the wait! Highly recommend! read more

This is a very cozy restaurant decorated with authentic artwork and tables tucked into in nooks and crannies. The waitstaff is a bit austere but the food is delicious and we really enjoyed our meal. We could choose our preferred spice level from 1 to 10, and we were quite content with level 5. But beware - 5 is still pretty spicy! For a few years, I got takeout from Shere Punjab frequently, like 2 or 3 times a month. But I got tired of waiting 30 or 45 minutes for the food AFTER I arrived, even though on the phone they had said 20-30 minutes and I arrived after 30 minutes. It seemed as if they didn't start cooking it until after I had arrived. As other reviewers have noted, the customer service here never been good, and it seems to have gone downhill in recent years to the point where it really can ruin the experience. I have found that the food at Bombay Mahal, which is located a couple of blocks away, is at least as good as Shere Punjab. Some dishes are much better. Unlike Shere Punjab, Bombay Mahal has good service. They are happy to see you walk in, friendly, and want to make it good experience for you. And the takeout is nearly always ready on time! read more

There are two Indian restaurants in Brunswick, both run by brothers who had a falling out with one another and now compete for business. Shere Punjab is the superior of the two. We get takeout here about once a week, and while it's not the finest Indian food in the world, by Maine standards, it's very good. I've never had anything bad, and we order vegetarian and meat dishes pretty regularly. Whatever else you get, get the garlic naan. read more

We came 15 minutes before closing time (all other places in town were close). The owner told us sitting time is over but we can do take away. He cooked specially for us wile the whole crew waited to close, and not only that we got a discount for him "last order discount" as he said. Though the food is great, the service we received on Sun 1/5 from the darker haired man who works there was terrible. He was very rude and pushy while we were trying to decide what to eat, we hadn't even been there for 5 minutes. He stood and stared at us until we made up our minds. A few minutes later he came back giving us an appetizer saying "on the house", as though that was supposed to make everything better. Needless to say I did not touch the appetizer. My husband and I have been to this restaurant several times since we moved to Maine a year ago. We used to live in a metropolitan area with countless ethnic restaurants, and in our search for decent ethnic food here, we were pleased to find this good Indian restaurant so close to home. It's a small restaurant but the menu is extensive and seems very authentic based on recipes I've researched and tried. The breads are wonderful! Be sure to try one (or more).
