Went here for a dinner the other night and then went back the next day because it was so good! The decor and ambiance inside is very mellow and relaxing. The service is awesome with very kind people who serve you very quickly. The food was amazing and left us surprised. With a range of options it was hard to choose. We also loved the spread they set out before the food came out! From the lamb saag, paneer, naan, to the butter chicken it was all fantastic! We found our new favorite Indian spot in the area. We highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. And they deserve to have lines out the door!

I highly recommend this place. We stumbled at this place with Indian food cravings while walking in Portland's most crowded area. Here are my takes: Food/Drinks: The food is great here. Everything was good tasting. We also took mango lassi one time and it was great tasting as well. Service: Quick service and nice welcoming staff. Ambiance: Not a very big establishment but it can accommodate a good amount of guests. It is well decorated inside with an Indian theme. Hygiene: Overall, everything was clean and tidy. Price: Reasonably priced in the area for good Indian food.

My Friend and I were driving through Portland, looking for a place to have dinner, and we stumbled upon Tandoor restaurant. We started with the Vegetarian Platter for appetizer. It was a mix of samosas and other fried items. For entree, we ordered the Paneer Makhani and the Fish Curry, with a side of Garlic Naan. I thought both were excellent and had a LOT of flavor packed in. I honestly did not expect an Indian dish in Portland to have such authentic Indian flavor. Service was also very good.

Came here as part of a foodie tour. Food was great and the service was even better. Place got busy early in the evening but we were served timely and without issues. Shrimp biryani was delish and the mango lassi was very fulfilling. Great spot for Indian food

Food was amazing. I got chicken Tikka Masala, made with medium spiciness and they made it perfectly. My girlfriend got the Chicken Masala made very mildly and she loved it. The service was very nice. He was very gentle with his tone and taking our order as well as bringing the food and presenting it to us. It was an overall peaceful eating experience which I've never had before and it was actually very nice. The interior is very unique and authentic. I Highly recommended eating here if you are looking for Indian food or something new in general.

Stopped in for lunch and found a new Portland favorite! A quaint little restaurant with a nice vibe to it. Attentive staff and fast service. The papadum were crisp and flavorful. The saag paneer was creamy with a nice little kick to it (ordered medium spicy) and the naan....out of this world. Soft and buttery, possibly the best I've ever had. I can't wait to come back with my family.

I've had plenty of Indian food in my time and these guys are fantastic. The food feels like it's made with love. The people were very attentive and answered every question we had down to what ingredients they used in sauces and they were passionate about it. I'd definitely return!

My family is visiting from New Jersey! One thing they really love is Indian food, so of course we took them to Tandoor! Tandoor is one of the best restaurants in Portland. Service was great! Ambiance is perfection! I always feel at home here. The owner of the restaurant is so kind, he feels like a family friend. The food is delicious! You can't ever go wrong. Everything on the menu is full of flavor and always worth it. I usually order the Chicken Tikka... and oh my goodness is it good! My tastebuds are always so thankful! My husband loves the lamb! Start with some Onion Bhaji, Papadam (my favorite), and Samoas. Before dinner order some Coconut and Dal Sorba Soup, spicy. So good, especially in the winter! Try the Chicken Tikka cooked in the Tandoor oven, Spicy of course! They bring the best sauce to dip the chicken in or put some on your delicious Indian rice! Totally order some Indian beer, Chai, or Mango Lassi and enjoy your dining experience... totally worth it!

Garlic Naan, Lamb Boti Kabab, Paneer Pakora, Chicken Tikka Masala

Perhaps take this with a grain of salt, but this the best Indian food I have had in recent memory. The garlic naan is everything you could want naan to be-crispy in some places, lightly chewy in others, and an excellent supporting actor for the main event--in my case, this was the lamb kebab, which was presented to me theatrically (read: sizzling on a plate). We arrived for an early dinner around 5:30, and watched the dining room transition from quiet to cozy and abuzz while we ate. The paneer pakora primed our appetites (maybe a little too well), but could be skipped to prioritize naan and entree. Wonderful and attentive service, and the perfect comfort meal for the autumnal temperature drop.

Need to get this out of the way at the start. I read a lot of reviews about how they're lacking or inconsistent in making dishes as spicy as people want them. I ordered my food at a 4/5 on the spicy scale and it was perfect. It was very respectably spicy. It's not the spiciest food in the world, but either they just happened to get my food right, they've adjusted their cooking based on criticism, or some of these other reviewers are just posturing. I ordered the chapati and the lamb rogan josh. Everything was perfect. The meat was juicy and buttery and the curry very rich and packed a world of flavor along with the spice. The curry portion looks small, but the richness of the dish balanced that out. However, the chapati portion *was* small - just one piece of bread. (Tip - don't eat it like dinner rolls, save it for your entree, tear off pieces and either sop it or spoon the curry and meat/veg and rice onto it and eat it like tacos) The chutneys were also really good - kind of an overlooked aspect of the meal. Tamarind, coriander, tomato/onion, all very basic, but all delicious accompaniments. None of them spicy if that's a concern. I got level four spicy and this gets four stars!
