Like all the reviews state, these folks are genuinely nice people! Within 10 minutes you feel comfortable. Five minutes more and you're "family"! I was in a non-smoking room and I smoke. By the time I checked in, they had set up a table and chair and ashtray outside my door! :) I joked that in the entire town, there wasn't a place to get a candy bar! The owner Dean actually texted the manager Dave to bring a candy bar from the big city. THAT'S the kind of people these folks are! Wonderful! I stayed 2 days. It's a small remote old mining town. So I got to meet all the locals, and they too were genuinely nice folks. Highly recommend this place!

This place is super clean, quaint and friendly (and maybe a little quirky, in a good way) and we were treated like old friends.

Living Ghost Town [Chloride AZ]…read more It's quiet but definitely not a ghost town located 22 miles from Kingman. Not to be confused with the ghost town in Chloride, New Mexico, this place is actually an old inhabited mining town. The town was founded in the 1860's when silver was discovered. During mining days the town had a bank, hotels, barber shops, a pool hall, saloons and restaurants, some of these structures are still there, cool preserved buildings... about 2,000 people lived in Chloride then. There is a working Post Office on site. The mines shut down when workers went to fight in WWII. The cemetery outside of town is one of the state's oldest located on Patterson Road, even though the cemetery has recent burials, there are many unknown and old graves, some of the headstones dated back to the early 1900's. The main road is on Tennessee Avenue, we drove around and looked at the old houses, we passed by a metal yard art. We saw an old service station that once pumped gas when Chloride was one of the busiest and richest mining town during its heyday. In front were some vintage gas pumps that once pumped gas for thousands of cars and trucks. That service station is now someone's private residence. There was an antique store but it was closed at the time. We went shopping at the Mineshaft Market general store/visitor center for little souvenirs and some chips to munch on. We had lunch at Yesterday's Restaurant. Next to the restaurant is an 1860's era rooms w/ air conditioning, TV and WiFi - the Shep's Miners Inn|Hotel. So definitely alive and not a ghost town. Very cool stop off U.S. 93 south of Las Vegas and north of Kingman in Arizona. #3690

I attempted to check in at the Best Western and was refused service simply because I live locally,…read morewhich I found both shocking and offensive. Nowhere on their website or booking information does it state that local residents are not allowed to rent rooms. If that is truly their policy, it should be clearly disclosed before someone takes the time to book or show up expecting to stay. The front desk employee was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional while explaining this supposed policy. Instead of handling the situation politely or offering any kind of reasonable explanation, I was treated like I had done something wrong simply for living in the area. As a paying customer, being turned away simply because of where I live was frustrating, embarrassing, and completely unacceptable. Policies like this should be clearly stated up front instead of surprising guests at the front desk after they've already made plans. Because of this experience, I will never rent a room from a Best Western again--even when I'm traveling on the road. Customer service and transparency clearly aren't a priority here.

Well I have mixed feedback on this place. The owner was so nice to us. He waited for us and told us…read morewhere to go. He was really sweet and after we checked in we realized we were the only people there. He left the main building and we had the whole place for ourselves which was awesome. It's in middle of nowhere (in town with only one gas station and one bar). There is a store across the street but they don't sell liquor. We had to drive 2-3 more miles to get some booze. It was really hot inside so we took the table and chairs outside and sat there. The rooms itself were very smelly and bugs were everywhere. All over floors, furniture and BEDS! Dead and live! They were crawling everywhere. The bathrooms were smelling so bad too. We had a hard time with getting the smell out. A/C unit was super loud. You can't sleep with it on. The bathroom towels were great. Soft and luscious.

When making plans for this trip, I had been debating between this nice motel, and Western Ranch. In…read morethe end, the horses and campfire of the ranch won out... Until we got there, and they told us, at 4:00 in the afternoon on the day of our reservations, that they cancelled them. For no reason, and without telling us. Thankfully, they work closely with Canyon's End, and even more thankfully, they had room for us. So we ended up here after all! These guys saved our trip. With two young, disappointed kids, traveling who knows how much farther away from our destination (Grand Canyon West) could have ruined our trip. Not only did they save our trip, but the owners were super nice and helpful. The room was great- clean, comfy, and well stocked. Everything worked well! So while my kids were disappointed they didn't get horse rides and a campfire, we had a great evening. And I saved a bunch of money, that we promptly spent on souvenirs the next day- so even they are glad with the way things ended up.

Your favorite Yelp correspondent writes you from Laughlin, Nevada where and his bride of 29yrs…read moreenjoyed a nice, albeit eventful, 3 day, 2 night stay at the Harrah's Tropicana. I'd chosen the Trop because of its Caesar's Resorts affiliation- I've previously stayed at Caesar's Palace, Paris, the Flamingo¹ and was reasonably confident that the Trop would suitably reward my good faith. ¹ I stayed at the Flamingo Hilton, where Elvis Presley once pioneered the entire "artist in residency" format, in the summer of 1994. Bill Clinton sat in the Oval, prior to staining Monica's blue dress; gas was $1.21/g and our rooms cost only $21/night. As it turns out, my faith was repeatedly challenged throughout this getaway weekender that was more "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" mini-vacay turned amok than "Roman Holiday." Lemme, your disheveled but faithful correspondent, recount the ways our expectations were steadily torpedoed: Musical rooms - We changed our room three times in the first 18 hours! We pivoted from room #1 because it lacked the in-suite fridge that this diabetic requires (and had pre-paid for on Expedia). Room #2 was just fine...'til I discovered an awful flood on the bathroom and carpeted hall floors due to... Nasty Plumbing - The toilet scarcely, lazily flushed mere deposits of the watery variety and the bathroom sink failed to drain. Until 1am, when I sleepily traipsed to the bathroom then nearly slipped and fell on the floor, deluged with black, stinky effluence that had apparently disgorged itself from the pipes underneath the sink! Vending Machines from Hell - Several vending machines, ranging from ICE VENDING MACHINES to soda dispensers and even one proudly peddling the Cake Boss Buddy Valastro's famous cakes were all marked with glum "Out of Order" signs. Tight w/ Blankets - The hotel withholds blankets. The beds are dressed with nothing but sheets and a very thin comforter. We hadta request two extra blankets from the housekeeping staff. Not all of our stay was an abject failure. -On-site restaurants include Guy Fieri's "Burro Borracho," (Nacho Average Taco Joint, the poster proclaims) the Brew Brothers and Carnegie's where we enjoyed a "Buy One Full Price, Get 2nd for $1" special on dinner. -The plantation shutters are a nice, whimsical touch in a chain whose rooms lurch from contemporary furniture (good!) to hideous popcorned ceilings ("Three's Company" demands it's set back!) Pro Tip- We did not realize til our arrival that the Tropicana actually is perched ACROSS (CASINO DRIVE) from the Colorado River- Most of its competitor venues like Riverside, Edgewater, Aquarius directly abut the mighty river. AVAIL YOURSELF of the oft-running River Taxi to use the private beach at sister property Harrah's Laughlin Resort! Assistant Hotel Manager Sache "Renae" Mark's deserves plaudits for resolving our complaint to our satisfaction. Renae not only graciously stayed a few minutes beyond her appointed shift departure time to help us, but slashed 30% offve our bill as a token of good will for our plumbing fiasco. Renae's nimble problem solving skills not only warmed our hearts but, by the skin on its teeth, boosted my appraisal from two to three stars.

However, times do change, as such, the Tropicana has also changed and not for the good. We were placed on the 23rd floor. The toilet ran super slow, always seemed like it was going to overflow with every flush. Oh the topper, we only had hot water the first night. And this wasn't just our room, it was multiple rooms and multiple people that we spoke with. My thoughts, "Really, with all of the gambling monies, you can't prepare for this emergencies and invest in better equipment." Secondly, the hostess' that walk around while your gambling were absolutely no where to be found. In the days we were there, my wife had only one bring her a drink and her she had to flag down. I, myself, never had anyone walk up to me. And with the amount of children running around, and minors sitting in slot machine chairs, I told my wife "this has become the Circus Circuis of Laughlin." My suggestion, if your an adult or adult couple who want to spend adult time at a good casino, then you may want to try out Harra's.
