Your favorite Yelp correspondent writes you from Laughlin, Nevada where and his bride of 29yrs enjoyed a nice, albeit eventful, 3 day, 2 night stay at the Harrah's Tropicana. I'd chosen the Trop because of its Caesar's Resorts affiliation- I've previously stayed at Caesar's Palace, Paris, the Flamingo¹ and was reasonably confident that the Trop would suitably reward my good faith. ¹ I stayed at the Flamingo Hilton, where Elvis Presley once pioneered the entire "artist in residency" format, in the summer of 1994. Bill Clinton sat in the Oval, prior to staining Monica's blue dress; gas was $1.21/g and our rooms cost only $21/night. As it turns out, my faith was repeatedly challenged throughout this getaway weekender that was more "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" mini-vacay turned amok than "Roman Holiday." Lemme, your disheveled but faithful correspondent, recount the ways our expectations were steadily torpedoed: Musical rooms - We changed our room three times in the first 18 hours! We pivoted from room #1 because it lacked the in-suite fridge that this diabetic requires (and had pre-paid for on Expedia). Room #2 was just fine...'til I discovered an awful flood on the bathroom and carpeted hall floors due to... Nasty Plumbing - The toilet scarcely, lazily flushed mere deposits of the watery variety and the bathroom sink failed to drain. Until 1am, when I sleepily traipsed to the bathroom then nearly slipped and fell on the floor, deluged with black, stinky effluence that had apparently disgorged itself from the pipes underneath the sink! Vending Machines from Hell - Several vending machines, ranging from ICE VENDING MACHINES to soda dispensers and even one proudly peddling the Cake Boss Buddy Valastro's famous cakes were all marked with glum "Out of Order" signs. Tight w/ Blankets - The hotel withholds blankets. The beds are dressed with nothing but sheets and a very thin comforter. We hadta request two extra blankets from the housekeeping staff. Not all of our stay was an abject failure. -On-site restaurants include Guy Fieri's "Burro Borracho," (Nacho Average Taco Joint, the poster proclaims) the Brew Brothers and Carnegie's where we enjoyed a "Buy One Full Price, Get 2nd for $1" special on dinner. -The plantation shutters are a nice, whimsical touch in a chain whose rooms lurch from contemporary furniture (good!) to hideous popcorned ceilings ("Three's Company" demands it's set back!) Pro Tip- We did not realize til our arrival that the Tropicana actually is perched ACROSS (CASINO DRIVE) from the Colorado River- Most of its competitor venues like Riverside, Edgewater, Aquarius directly abut the mighty river. AVAIL YOURSELF of the oft-running River Taxi to use the private beach at sister property Harrah's Laughlin Resort! Assistant Hotel Manager Sache "Renae" Mark's deserves plaudits for resolving our complaint to our satisfaction. Renae not only graciously stayed a few minutes beyond her appointed shift departure time to help us, but slashed 30% offve our bill as a token of good will for our plumbing fiasco. Renae's nimble problem solving skills not only warmed our hearts but, by the skin on its teeth, boosted my appraisal from two to three stars. read more

My wife and I are an avid Laughlin Nevada visitor, and we decided to spend a few days at the Tropicana for my birthday. In the past this has been one of our favorite Hotels to stay at. However, times do change, as such, the Tropicana has also changed and not for the good. We were placed on the 23rd floor. The toilet ran super slow, always seemed like it was going to overflow with every flush. Oh the topper, we only had hot water the first night. And this wasn't just our room, it was multiple rooms and multiple people that we spoke with. My thoughts, "Really, with all of the gambling monies, you can't prepare for this emergencies and invest in better equipment." Secondly, the hostess' that walk around while your gambling were absolutely no where to be found. In the days we were there, my wife had only one bring her a drink and her she had to flag down. I, myself, never had anyone walk up to me. And with the amount of children running around, and minors sitting in slot machine chairs, I told my wife "this has become the Circus Circuis of Laughlin." My suggestion, if your an adult or adult couple who want to spend adult time at a good casino, then you may want to try out Harra's. read more

Took a quick trip to Laughlin for a family event and decided to switch things up since I usually stay at the Riverside. This place felt a lot smaller than I expected, and getting back to my room was a bit confusing at times. There also weren't many dining options, which was a little disappointing That said, the room itself was the highlight of my stay. It was clean, comfortable, and the bed was great. I had a window with a view of the surroundings and the morning sunshine coming through made it cozy over while the property had some downsides (for me) the room definitely stood out and made the stay enjoyable. read more

Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of this hotel. It's too bad when Caesar's took over that they didn't do room renovations on all the rooms. We stayed here on 12/31/2025 to celebrate NYE. It's not a hotel we normally stay @ when visiting Laughlin but it was inexpensive. The room we had was soooo plain! There wasn't one picture up on the walls. No refrigerator in the room, barely any outlets & not one close to my bed. The TV was super small...time to upgrade guys! Our view out of our window was of the parking garage. We just stayed one night & was really only in our room to sleep. We stayed out late & ended up passing out after getting back to our room that we over slept & woke up around 11:20am. Ooops...check out is @ 11am but no one came knocking on our door so we quickly got up & headed out. We never used the shower so I can't tell you how the water pressure is. Check in was easy & I didn't have to wait in line very long. Lady @ the desk was nice. The one thing that I really enjoyed was how packed the casino was. It's never that busy anymore but it was NYE but after it was over the casino was empty. I did enjoy playing Wizard Of Oz machine & actually won a little bit this trip. They have a really nice gift shop. I don't like staying over on this side & away from the river. We did walk over to Riverside as that's one of our favorite casino's & it's about a 30min walk over there. I kinda wished I paid the extra money to stay elsewhere. I had a great time at the Tropicana Casino and lounging in the bar area. There's a huge parking lot and plenty of amenities inside to keep you busy, from boutiques and an arcade to a pool area, food, and beverages. Like many casinos, when you gamble, drinks are complimentary. My hubby got free Coors Light while he was gambling. I played the slot machines, which were fun, and I also played Three Card Poker, which was a good time. I really appreciate the atmosphere here. They have tall ceilings and a well thought out layout. The lounge area makes for a comfy spot to relax and read while enjoying some food and tea. read more

Great service! If you are a beginner don't hesitate to ask the staff; they are patient and are happy o help. Renting the extrinsic machine is $2.00 extra, if you need a sober it's an additional $1.00. A round of games lasts an hour. We had a pleasant stay here. The front desk staff were so helpful at checkin. Rooms werent fancy but clean and better than other places! I will say it was a bit disappointing to see an envelope for a housekeeping tip, however there was an empty box of tissues in the bathroom. Please stay away! I was traveling through for work and the NFL Draft was that night. Completely empty with the exception of Thugs, Motorcycle Gangs, and employees looking to roll you. I am fairly white, and completely fluent in Spanish. While sitting at the bar I overheard a casino employee and the casino bar tender discussing how to rob me! Check in was easy. Was put in the promenade tower. Lots of elevators and the room was spacious. Carpet was pretty clean no major stains. Bed was a little worn out but worked. Room was clean and the shower pressure was fantastic. Plus the water got really hot!! There was no refrigerator but it had a coffee maker. You have to call and ask for housekeeping to be done daily or they just won't do it. Learned that the hard way by a rude man that answers the phone in the evening. Casino didn't hit but that's pretty typical. They kept the AC on very cold. We ate breakfast every morning and I had read that Cherrie was the best waitress and I have to agree! She was very friendly and efficient. Loved her bubbly attitude! Would I stay there again?? Probably so because our group is using the motel. Oh I almost forgot. The soul band was awesome! We stayed at Tropicana Laughlin for the weekend to watch a local band. The band was great, and the casino itself was clean, which made for a good start. Dining Experience We ate at Brew Brothers. The food was very good, but the service was a major letdown. Even though we had reservations, it took about 20 minutes to get seated. Once we were seated, our server never came by to take our order or even offer refills. We eventually had to call the manager, but even after that, no one checked on us. The food took about an hour to arrive, and while the manager did apologize, the service never improved. Overall, it was a very frustrating dining experience. Room Conditions We specifically asked for one of the "renovated" rooms, but if this was renovated, it must have been 10 years ago. The door looked like it had been kicked in, the bathroom door knob was loose and wobbly, and the toilet seat was also loose. While the main room itself didn't have stains and looked acceptable, the bathroom looked tired and used up. Overall Impression The entertainment and casino were positives, but the dining and hotel room fell way short of expectations. My advice: if you're visiting Laughlin, you may be better off staying at Golden Nugget or Aquarius. read more

They need to demolish this place and start over. WORST Caesars Property I've ever stayed at the ice machine doesn't work, no hot water in the shower, from front desk to housekeeping they act like you're inconveniencing their day. Only nice person I've met working here is Jennifer in Carnegie Cafe. Rooms are time capsules of the start of Laughlin the most updated thing in the room is a 2011 white/yellow pages lost safely in one of the drawers. No refrigerators or safes in the room. Some of the racist comments from other guests are unbelievable. This place attracts the ghetto! I highly DO NOT recommend this place. Stay at Harrahs another Caesars property in town. Stayed over Valentine's Day weekend 2026. I will start with the good. The room was clean and the bed was actually comfortable. We got a room with a river view and that was nice to look at. Check in was smooth and easy. The not so good though....no hot water!! We found out it wasn't just us, multiple guests had no hot water for showers. I also noticed on the ceiling what couldd be a leak but as there was no visible dripping, I figured it was fine. I was sad to see Passagio's is a shell of what it used to be. I'm still sad the little pastry place under the stairs is gone. The Brew Brothers restaurant was good with great food. Carnegies was ok and good if you need a quick bite. Casino Floor: It had a lot of great machines to play with. I love the neon bingo. Suck the tables start late and end early, even on the weekends. Pool: The pool is nice and big. I had a few problems with it. I believe the security system needs to be stricter. "Adult Pool Hours" are meant for adults, but plenty of teenagers and kids were there. Also, parents hid their kids in the water so they won't be caught. It also sucked that the bar closed at 8 p.m. right on the dot. I have to say, though, that the coconut margaritas were delicious. Elevators: On the day I was there, only four elevators worked, and I waited for around thirty to an hour. We couldn't use the stairwell because it was scorching 140 degrees inside there. Food: The food was good. I loved the chicken tenders, and the restaurant was good, too. Overall rating: 3.8 read more

I had a great experience here. My check In experience was with Jayden late Thursday was great, as he was kind and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable in the west tower facing the pool/river. Is this a 5 star diamond hotel? No, but pleasantly surprised. House keeping crew on the 23rd floor, very nice and courteous. SHOT OUT TO THE BARTENDERS in the middle casino area. Fun and nice, the only issue i had when i went down to extend my stay, that lady was not very friendly and would not offer me the online price so we paid extra, not that happy. Pool area was clean and bartender there was fun. Jerry pool guy was also great. Security in that area checking to see if we brought in food/drinks was too much. Not too many onsite restaurants, or much to do. I felt it lacked entertainment. All in all, I would stay here again. . read more

We checked out this hotel and casino on a recent day trip to Laughlin. Most of the hotels in Laughlin are pretty much the same. They're not new, but they're not really old. One good thing about this hotel is that it is a Caesars property, so if you are a member you can get free comp nights. We did not spend the night so I cannot review the rooms, but the casino was decent and they had some new slot machines, or possibly old slot machines lol, that we had not seen in Las Vegas, so that was fun. read more

So, me and my family walked into the room, dirty. The bathroom was dark so my son tried turning on the lights and there was a metal stick in the outlet! This place was absolutely disgusting from the moment we walked in. The first thing I did was go to the bathroom, and there were pubic hairs all over the sink. That alone should tell you the level of "cleanliness" here. I called housekeeping, and all they did was lazily wipe the sink and push the dust onto the floor like that somehow fixed the problem. My family and I had no choice but to stay because we were in town for a funeral the next morning. The entire night we were killing bugs and sneezing from all the dust and cobwebs covering the room. We have stayed here in the past and been happy but this last time we tried to stay we checked out within an hour or so of checking in it was so bad. They have one job to do as a hotel and that's putting guests in a room. After checking in we found out multiple elevators were broken so 15 minutes waiting to just go up to our room and then 30 minutes to go back down. That's 45 minutes round trip to go from your room to the lobby and back, 45 minutes to the pool, 45 minutes for dinner, 45 minutes to bring luggage to your room. The whole trip would be wasted. So we walked a little up the strip and checked into a different hotel then came back to the Tropicana and checked out. We didn't stay, we didn't even unpack our luggage and checked out. I asked for a refund, nope, no refund, the guy at the counter even refused to provide me a receipt for the room they were charging me for. What a scam, I filled out the form they direct you to a week and a half ago and nobody reached out to me, I filed a dispute with my credit card and no replies yet. If they reply to me, my name is on my profile, look at your records and pick up the phone and call me. I did my part, do yours. I can't recommend this place to anyone. They took my money. read more

Here mid-week for a funeral. While my relative booked the least expensive room , given the hotel is empty you'd think they'd put us up in a decent room. Instead we got a room with a TV smaller than my home computer screen; a view of the parking structure; & a king size bed with 4 standard (not king) pillows. When called the front desk for something better they simply said anything better would be more $. I have to say, this is the first time staying at the tropicana in laughlin, and it's very nice. They have a beautiful pool, They have a poolside café. The water's nice and warm. The machines, the slot machines are quite loose. I won and I lost some. You have to try out the bingo, though, the bingo's really fun, especially the neon bingo. The rooms are very nice. They're very clean. They have some very nice restaurants.They have a little cafe, they have port of subs.That's really good. They have an arcade area for kids, super fun. The environment is very friendly.The employees are very friendly, kelley at the front desk, super sweet, super nice. The bell desk was very nice, the valet is great. They have bands every friday and saturday night, a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this hotel. read more

Large classic casino resort on the Laughlin Strip. We came here for the brewery restaurant which was very busy on a Saturday evening. We were lucky enough to get seated at the bar. Gaming had a lot of options and I found my absolute favorite slot machine Better of Ed. It is definitely worth waiting for the cocktail waitress to get a drink. This is the absolute worst hotel we have ever stayed at, if i could give zero stars i would. We decided to stay here as it is closer to the main hub of the casino surrounded area in Laughlin and we have enjoyed every harrahs we've ever stayed at and considering Tropicana is a in the same branch as harrahs but was cheaper, we thought it couldn't be that bad. boy were we wrong. The staff is friendly but completely useless in helping any issues be resolved. About an hour after checking in, we went down stairs because 1. the toilet made a loud whistling noise for about a minute straight when you'd flush it and 2. the room was filthy upon arrival. We asked if there was a room we could switch to and were told "they have no open rooms for the night" which was an absolute lie because i was went onto the Tropicana website and could book a room for the night so clearly they had open rooms. We were told maintenance and housekeeping would come up to resolve the issues, how ever we had a feeling they wouldn't so we waited in the room for 2 hours and called downstairs and asked when they were coming and said they were on their way. Maintenance came, looked at the toilet, then left and never came back. As for housekeeping, no one showed up to re clean anything lol. We tried calling around to Aquarius, Edgewater, and Harrahs and none had open rooms available because by this time it was past 8 PM. Not sure why the hotel has housekeeping when they do absolutely nothing. Both days we were there, and yes we had the sign on the door for them to come in while we were out, they did not do a single thing other than fix the bed sheets. They didn't take our trash out, refill coffee cups / water bottles, wipe off the counter, or give us fresh towels. All of those things are very noticeable when they aren't done and both days when we would come back, only the bed sheets would be fixed. There were lines wrapping into the casino to get into the elevator to go to the rooms every days. And no they do joe have stairs you can access to get to the rooms every days floors because the door is boarded up with sand bags blocking it from the outside (which how is that legal because what if there was a fire and we had to take the stairs to get out ??? we would be stuck ???) So please use this as your sign to spend the extra money at a different hotel and i promise you'll be glad you did. This is the absolute worst hotel and we were so disgusted and disappointed that we wasted our money on a shithole like this place. read more

We played video poker here two nights while in town. We felt like they had a lot of slots and video poker machines to choose from. Drink servers and bartenders were friendly and drinks were good. Free shuttle to and from Harrahs is nice but doesn't run often enough. Tropicana has lots of nice food options like Port of Subs and Brew Brothers. No idea how the rooms are, but we haven't heard good things about them. read more

The gaming floor is very nice. Great little shops. The the lounge where there's live music was comfortable and service is great. The the people that work there are very nice. The place is clean bud. As for the room, small little TV bathroom was incredibly uncomfortable. No real hot water. The sink didn't drain properly. The toilet made some very strange sounds and just very uncomfortable bathroom. I wouldn't stay there again but it did look like a nice place to play and maybe to catch some food. read more

There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke throughout the property--everywhere except the rooms, thankfully. The service was solid, with friendly and helpful staff, which I appreciated. However, $9 for a bottle of water felt outrageous, and the price of a bottle of whiskey was equally over the top--definitely recommend bringing your own. The rooms were clean, but very outdated. While the bed was comfortable, the furniture didn't cater to modern tech needs (limited outlets, no USB ports, etc.). The rest of the casino was decent, but overall, I'm not sure I'd stay here again unless they did some major upgrades or I found a really good deal. read more

Got to our room and went to take a shower and there is not hot water. Called the front desk and the gentleman said "this is an on going issue. There aren't anymore luxury king rooms available to move you. We will comp you the $16.99 resort fee." Absolutely ridiculous! Do not stay here! read more

We stayed here for one night this past weekend, and I was not impressed. Easy to get into the parking lot, with plenty of signs to guide you. It is a long walk from the parking garage to the check in desk, then back again to where the room elevators are. Check in was easy, as there was no line and plenty of clerks behind the desk. Tango's Lounge had a great band on Saturday night, and our bartender Tommy was phenomenal. The machines weren't paying out, but poker kept us busy winning the min hands. The reason I'm only giving this review 2 stars is the room. Horrible housekeeping! Dust on the dressers and the back of the chairs, corners are not vacuumed, some bobby pins laying around the floor, some stray hairs (not mine) on the bathroom floor. The beds were decent, and good water pressure in the room. I understand this hotel is outdated (furniture needs upgraded, tile floors could use a replacement), and I can handle outdated....what I really want is a CLEAN room. read more
