Grand Canyon Western Ranch was my first Grand Canyon Experience. Wow! There are different spots where you can climb up rocks, pose for photos, and take in the view. There is a small restaurant and restrooms here. There is plenty of parking for vehicles at the bottom and a shuttle or tour bus will take you up to the top where the viewing area is. Our very first trip to AZ and what a treat! We arrived late due to changes in flight plans. These folks waited up to make sure we found our way and were comfortable. It is a great place to stop and reset! No wifi nor phone access!!! They have a restaurant/bar on the premises with great prices. Horse back riding, wagon rides with champagne, buffalo, rustic decor, etc. Sing songs and stories around the campfire with s'more's. So very close to the glass bridge. A 2 hour drive from Vegas. My husband and I with our grandson, took the sunset wagon ride and absolutely loved it!! we had beautiful views, a singing, cowboy, and a wonderful wagon ride! We got to learn about the bison in the area and really enjoyed it! The staff were extremely friendly and invited us to their nightly fire ring with s'more making! They have a restaurant and a bar along with cabins but we were staying at a local RV park. Totally recommend this and would love to come back and stay in their cabins! read more

Wow! What an experience! Huge shout out to Cowboy John, Arizona Casey and Linda! My girlfriend and I did the overnight horseback experience. We were lucky enough to be alone on the trip and had an incredible time. Due to problems with the rental car place, we were 45 minutes behind. It didn't matter. Everyone here is so laid back they greeted us with smiles and a beer. Horses ready to go! You can expect a generic ranch experience. If you do the overnight horse ride expect to eat food cooked straight over the fire and coffee from an old tin can - cowboy style. We absolutely loved it. After eating a delicious cowboy steak, Arizona Casey stopped by with his guitar and genuinely entertained the hell out of us. We were laughing and smiling the entire time he played and sang for us. We plan on coming back with our full families next year and staying for a week. It's so relaxing being away from the real world. We can't wait to come back! Thanks again for everything! read more

Best experience ever! Actually I never expected this would be the best part of my Christmas travel. I booked this place just because I wanna stop by to see the skywalk and Eagle point after my Vegas trip before head back home, cause this is the nearest lodge I can find to skywalk. I knew it's a remote ranch, so I was prepared for cold meal, small room with no hot water or so. I was even debating to the last two days if to cancel the one night stay there, cause I might not wanna go to the skywalk since read about lots of bad reviews on skywalk. BUT!!! BUT! BUT I'm glad I did go. This is a magical ranch, Casey's songs softly touch your heart, like a family. We checked in Dec 25th, 2019 it's a very special day to everyone. We were all so happy to be together in this ranch with another French family, sitting in one table, enjoy the night sing together, laugh together. I knew it right way by then that's gonna be one of my most cherished moments in my life. Casey song with his heart, made hot chocolate, made bbq mash-mellow for everyone, made that night like a beautiful story in a kids bedtime book. Didn't cry that beautiful peaceful night but eventually made my tears down next day morning with another song hit in my heart. Didn't ask name of the cook, he did real good meal. We had BBQ ribs, Rib Eye Steak, Christmas special meal with turkey, ham. It was a really good meal, like the real good stuff you have at home. They are all warm hearted people there. Their manager called me earlier that day to remind me the weather condition and time zone. When I walk into my cabin, it's lit up with warm lights, fireplace and felt so cozy. I travel with my picky wife and a 4 year old boy. My wife thought it's gonna be a big drop since we just checked out from Mandalay Bay in Vegas, it turned out she love this cabin way more than any hotel we had before. Nick! Best pilot! He fly the helicopter smoother than you can drive a car. His little helicopter is perfect for family to go together, cause it has total view everywhere, even you can see through under you feet if you sit in the front. Not like the skywalk helicopter is huge, line up to get a sit with other tourists, this is more like a private ride. He land the helicopter like landed on the bed, we didn't even felt anything. We were expecting a little touch to the ground, but no! No touching feeling at all. If you are afraid of flying in a chopper, try this guy. My 4 year old boy was even reading their leaflet map in the air, and talk to him like his co pilot, had tons of fun of his flying. You get to see from the inside of the Grand Canyon and from all other whole new perspectives. This is the place you wanna come back, you would miss by the time you check out. I will definitely bring my families back here, actually we are planning already for the summer time fun here. Btw, we didn't go to the skywalk, cause we are 120% satisfied in this ranch. I went up and booked 2 nights on christmas eve and christmas day. When arriving i couldnt help but notice there was not a single christmas light, tree or christmas bulbs anywhere. They did not decorate or celebrate xmas at all. It was boring and bland. The food was terrible at little restaurant and no bar to even have a drink. Not much to do.. soo disappointing. On top of it all, there still was an additional $40 dollar resort fee. For what??? this is was not a resort. It barely represented a hotel or so called ranch. read more

This place is great! We spent 2 wonderful nights here. There was 4 of us.. 2 adults and 2 kids. We stayed in cabin 7 and it was very comfortable. There is NO TV or INTERNET and no Phone service so if you need those things this place is not for you. Everyone that works there is very nice. Ms Reba will go out of her way to help you. My kids loved Cowboy Dave. He's a great entertainer. The food was delicious and the service is excellent. The cabins are warm and cozy. We took a wagon ride up the hill to see the Buffalos and Mr John and Kim were great! My girls loved the pony ride through the ranch. It was so nice to disconnect from the crazy world and just spend time with my family and enjoy the outdoors. This place is only about 20 minutes from the skywalk which is also a fun place to go. My family and I did not stay here, we happened to find this cute, fun place for breakfast. It was super simple, the waitress gave us a couple options for what they were serving and the food came out extremely fast for the 6 of my family members. What an awesome experience horseback riding here! We went on the trail with Samantha, she was our guide for trail riding here. Samantha is knowledgeable and an experienced horse trainer. She took us to the most breathtaking views of the . Horses are grestrand Canyon and the buffalo herd. Horses are great and easy to ride. One of my favorite vacations ever! From Cowboy Dave who serenaded us at every meal as well as the nightly campfire to the horse wranglers to the sweet staff and superb country cooks it was amazing. We loved our pine cabin w its Dutch door, claw foot tub and adorable loft space. The Western decor was so fun w everything right down to the napkin holders in the restaurant being themed. Don't miss breakfast here. One of the best I've ever had! So peaceful and such a short ride to the Grand Canyon. Definitely check out the gun range. The guy who takes you out there is so awesome and it's a literal blast! I felt like I was in an episode of Little House on the Prairie and loved every minute! The horse wrangler and his wife were awesome, and if they ran it, I'd come back for sure. However, I was given misinformation about the pricing of a horse ride by whomever I spoke to on the phone and paid what I was told once we arrived. Over 6 hours AFTER THE TRAIL RIDE, a lady comes to my cabin claiming I need to pay more money. I was completely caught off guard. When I got inside, the lady running the place was very rude and condescending and proceeded to run my credit card for another $150. She claims I was never told what I was told on the phone. However, it was marked on the paper at the desk, and it's what they charged me. I WAS NOT IN THE WRONG! And if they'd told me when I arrived and initially paid that I was told incorrectly and the price was higher, I could have made the decision if I still wanted to go, or just let my kids go. However, I should have been given the opportunity to make that decision as opposed to being forced to pay more money. When I asked to talked to the owner or get his contact info, I was told they had "lost it" and couldn't find. Not the way to run a business. Super disappointed!!!! AVOID!!! read more

Doesn't look that much when we passed by. We were from the Grand Canyon. Heading back we saw this place. We were only looking for a place to eat but we stumbled on to this ranch. Turns out they have cabins and activities in there. It was the perfect place for us. We stayed for one night in there before heading to California the next day. The people here was really nice. The food in the lounge is good with selections you can choose from. The view is also great. The cabins are just what you wanted. With heated blankets and a little fire place and they also provided us a crib for our baby that came along to our trip. I would definitely come back one day. Truly outstanding, from start to finish! I'm a Las Vegas local and this was the perfect overnight getaway. In less than 2 hours we were from the heart of Vegas, in the high Mojave desert. The moment we arrived we checked in and immediately headed out in a horse-drawn wagon to the helicopter landing. We did a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon and it was spectacular. Our photos and video just don't do it justice. The pilot was so kind and we had a great ride. After arriving back to the helicopter pad, we took the horse-drawn wagon back down to the ranch and then went shooting. Their firearms are .22s so are easy to handle, even for those without much experience. After shooting we had some time to check in to our cabin and put our stuff away. The cabin was well-equipped and was certainly in theme with the ranch. And then at 5pm we set off on a horse ride that brought us up to the top of a hill for a champagne, sunset toast. The horses were very well behaved and knew where they were headed. Hardly needed any steering. And the cowboys/guides were very knowledgeable, not only about the horses but also in the history of the ranch and surrounding area. While up at the top of the hill we also got to see the buffalo the ranch owns. There was even a baby buffalo, born about 1 month ago. A lovely and incredible experience. After the horse ride we came back to the ranch and had dinner, which was followed by a campfire in the evening. Thank you so much to all the staff! This place seemed awesome. My kids and I were really looking forward to staying here. We made reservations a month in advanced... And when we arrived, they told us they had cancelled our reservations. They didn't know why they cancelled them, and apologized, and helped us find a room at a local motel... So I'll give them 2 stars instead of 1. But it certainly didn't help that my two kids were heartbroken when they got the news that we wouldn't be staying there- a place they were so excited to stay- and despite that, they were trying to have such good attitudes and being very understanding, and when the lady asked if we wanted to stay and eat at their restaurant, my 6 year old asked if he could have ice cream- and she told my teary eyed little kid that it would be $2. I mean, couldn't they have offered a free $2 ice cream to two young kids that were being so kind and understanding despite their disappointment, that was caused by the ranch's own mistake? I'm sure that if you're able to get in, it's great. Everyone seemed nice, and looked like they were having fun. You just might want to call and confirm your reservations ahead of time! For the record, they had my credit card information, and I had a reservation number, and they confirmed they cancelled my reservations, so it was not a mistake on my part. I appreciate their honesty, and their taking responsibility for what happened. But still, very disappointing we couldn't join the fun. Whomever got our room tonight, I hope they're having a blast. read more

We were planning our spring break Arizona trip and started looking for glamping sites near the Grand Canyon. The one we settled on doesn't open for the season until mid-April, so we decided on our plan b, Grand Canyon Western Ranch. Thank God we ended up there. Experience of a lifetime! My family and I stumbled upon this gem on our way to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas. If it wasn't for that serendipity moment of spotting their van on the road, we would have missed out! Even though we didn't have reservations, they kindly took us in and were very accommodating. My husband and I wanted to try out the target range, so we booked a session with the instructor who was an extremely kind and calm gentleman. I got to practice on a pistol, lever-action, and bolt-action rifle. He recommended the exploding target and boy, was that worth it! I found a new hobby that day :) Afterwards we headed out to the Grand Canyon West Rim to catch the sunset, which was only 23 minutes away. We even made it back in time for dinner (great burgers & delicious apple pie!!) and live entertainment by the one and only, Cowboy Dave! He was a hoot! Hilarious, charming, clever and a just all around great guy. We thoroughly enjoyed his cowboy ballads and improvised Viking song (we had a Norwegian with us)! Later on that night, we all joined around the campfire with our new friends from Britain, made smores, and watched Cowboy Dave perform a sensational rendition of a cowboy poem. It started to get chilly, so most of the group left but we stayed around to hear some more history about the ranch and good ol' ghost stories :) I wish we could have spent more time on the ranch, but I know this won't be our last. I just did a 3 day trip to the GCWR, and it was a great riding and ranch experience. Riders of all ages and abilities will have a great time riding great, healthy, well-mannered horses along terrain that accommodates beginners to that which may test your horsemanship. It's up to you! There are buffalo, elk, deer, rabbits, chipmunks, "wild" cattle, big cats and all sorts of natural denizens that you will experience as a part of the real West of the Arizona territory. If you are an outdoor photographer, this is the place for you. The landscapes are spectacular, the wildlife abundant, and experience priceless. The accommodations are cozy and clean, with the rustic look and feel you would expect in the Ol' West. And I understand they are ready to add a few more! The meals from the restaurant were good, and priced moderately; you won't leave hungry! They do have helicopter tours from there (which I did not do, I was there to ride!), but they are available. They are right outside the canyon and you can see the "skyway" of helicopter tours making their way too, so they are perfectly positioned for this service. Cowboy Dave runs the entertainment and campfire each evening, and I actually got a chance to play along with him. Between that and making S'mores, I met a lot of good people, guests like me and shared in the camaraderie of the campfire. Dave played great cowboy tunes, recited cowboy poetry and told real western tales, that kept us all engaged and amazed. The kids are going to love it! As for the review by Frederick below, I don't believe any of it. I have known the wrangler referenced both as a working partner and as a guest for many years, and he has never, ever exhibited any kind of behavior as described. I too have a teenage daughter, and having have visited ranches as guests where he has worked, and we have worked together, I have never seen him exhibit the behavior described below. He has always been courteous and professional, and from a personal perspective, a great family man & friend. I came to GCWR because I knew this is where he is working. To attack someone's character in this forum is petty and unprofessional. Therefore, I completely discount Frederick's review as the reaction of someone with vindictive and low character. Stayed here one night on our way to see the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas. We took the wagon ride and ate dinner and stayed in a cabin. We were a big jet lagged or we would have done the evening campfire too. Everything was clean and nice. Food was good! Service was good. You can tell the people working on the ranch are personally invested in its success and care about your happiness. Lots of singing and dad jokes to be had for all, as well as beautiful scenery. A girl friend and I came here for a quick day trip. I was skeptical at first because I'm a city girl so being outdoors isn't really my thing but let me tell you, this was the best trip I've ever experienced. We were picked up at the Monte Carlo via shuttle and the driver was so nice and super informative. He shared a lot of history about the strip and downtown Las Vegas that I had no idea about and shared stories about the various areas we stopped at including the Hoover Dam, Dolan Springs, and the small town on the way to the ranch itself. When we got there we were greeted by cowboy Dan (I think that's his name. I can't remember because I have a crap memory). Everyone there from the cashier at the front desk to the kitchen staff, Noel the manager, Boots the cowboy and his boss, the shooting range guide, and the helicopter driver were all incredibly nice. I've never felt so welcomed like this anywhere I've visited. I didn't want to leave! I've never been on a horse or a helicopter before and all the men working made me feel at ease, safe, and I had so much fun. There truly aren't enough good things I could say about this place. I can't want to tell my friends and family about the ranch and bring them out here. read more

Grand Canyon West Ranch is fantastic. It is so nostalgic and fun. We went on a trail ride with Max and Amanda and had a blast. We also took the helicopter ride to Grand Canyon. Casey serenaded us for dinner and sang some fun songs. The staff really cares about the patrons here. They have a nightly campfire with smores too. AMAZING PLACE AND AMAZING PEOPLE! This was such a great experience. I was on a father-daughter road trip and we stopped here for one night after going to the Grand Canyon and before heading to Lake Mead. First, we were upgraded from a glamping tent to a cabin, which did not cost us anything extra, they just gave it to us since it was August (2016) and in the 100s! The cabins were great, cute little bathrooms with old fashioned tubs, loft style so it can sleep quite a few people and good A/C for the winter. It was such a warm welcome, offering us water and then later we had dinner in their restaurant. Cowboy Casey told us stories as we ate and dinner was at a communal table with a few other families that were staying there for the night. After dinner we went for a campfire, which I believe they have each night and Casey played his guitar and sang songs. He even sang in Spanish for a family that was visiting from Spain! He individualized the songs for each of the guests! S'mores too! In the morning we had breakfast in the restaurant and then we went on a short hike up to the top of a hill that gave a view of the ranch and a place to view some of the cattle on the ranch and we were guided by 2 friendly dogs that live on the ranch! This is a really special place. I cant describe how warm, welcoming and kind the people who run this place are! Its kind of far from most other common attractions but this only adds to how wonderful and unique this ranch is! I'd definitely return and recommend it to anyone! read more

First time I came here was on a day trip 4 years ago, they had a lasso show, we were horse back riding up the mountain to see the Buffalos, we had a great lunch inside the ranch with live music performed by the amazing humble guy Casey before we took a helicopter ride through Grand Canyon. A memory for life! Now 4 years later I came back to stay in their cosy western style cabins! Casey was still here and played music and sang for us right away when we arrived which made me very happy. He's such a talented and humble man and he knows almost any song you ask him to play. We had a great dinner before we headed out to the camp fire where Casey made us s'mores and played his guitar and sang for us all night. Such a good memory! We went with our kids. It was an experience that we all enjoyed. The sky walk(the glass over the canyon) was pretty intense. One time deal for us but highly recommend. We stayed in a glamping tent for one night, did the helicopter trip into the canyon, horseback riding with the cowboy guides (pony ride for my 6 year old -- who was taught real beginner horsemanship skills), visited the bison on the hill, and then the highlight -- free campfire s'mores and Casey the singing and storytelling cowboy musician with all those staying on the ranch. Casey was fantastic. Alongside the raging fire under the big sky of stars, he does silly voices and tells folksy jokes for the kids, plays expert guitar and sings wonderful songs and tells stories. Our night included fellow campers from France and Spain, so Casey played a sing-a-long in French and an impressive traditional Spanish guitar solo, and takes requests and invites others to sing and play. We did this ranch the first night after flying into Vegas and we felt like we enjoyed an amazing week-long vacation in the first 36 hours of our trip. Bravo Casey, our new friend... read more
