Holy cow. This guy is horrible. Brought him my trailer to fix the light. My trailer is a 32' gooseneck cargo trailer. Custom height. Has running light, reverse lights, cab lights, and of course brakes and blinkers. Paid him $400, and left with only brakes and blinkers. Somehow thought, he must have thought thats all i wanted. So i called him back, said hey i actually need all these lights, and while you have it, lets go ahead and grease the hubs. Hadn't been done in a while at that point. Driver went a picked up the trailer, the caps were missing. Grease everywhere. Called him and he reluctantly fixed it. (After telling me they didnt do that.) so here i have never had an issue before. I Have them pack the bearings, and that same day the bearing caps popped off?!? But the two aren't related according to them. (Supposedly he warranties his work.....he doesn't). Several months later i decided to give him one last shot. Still had no light, needed a new bumper welded on and some new hinges. This time i said, "Hey, maybe its just such an old trailer that repairing the wiring isnt going to ever work. So lets rewire the whole thing, put new lights on, and start fresh. When i say this guy has never seen wires before. I mean this dip shit made literally every mistake someone could make. Not inly did he not replace the 7 pin wire, but he decides 7 wires are way too many. So he cuts that wire at the brake, and wires in a 4 wire set instead. (Remember, he was supposed to put a whole new run in.) but doesnt even color coordinate them. He then re splices that wire i to the old wiring. Why? Beats me. The old wiring was what we were having trouble with. So here is what my neighbor and i discovered ( he is a 20 year mechanic for southwest airlines) from the plug, every wire was in the wrong position. The first "connection" had frayed wires taped together. Then they cut that 7 wire and wired to 4. Doesnt match the colors and doesnt cap the 3 wires he decided werent necessary, just jams those back inside the frame. Wites come back out at the back corner where he goes back to 7 wires again leaving the 3 "extra" wires uncapped. No physical wire going to my running light or reverse lights. Its important that i say that again....NO PHYSICAL WIRE AT ALL!!!! From there he needs to keep that wire in its channel out of the way...soooooo...... HE SCREWED THE WIRE BUNDLE TO THE THE FRAME!!!!!! Strait through the wires into the frame. WOW! And all of th is isnt even half of the issues. But lets move past the light. The brakes..... was supposed to adjust the brakes and make sure they were all working. But again..... there are jo wires going to 3 of the brakes. They exist. But they are literally rubbed through from 7 years of 7 day per week use. The ground wire wasnt even attached!?!?!?!?! Truck had a brake wiring fault alert from the jump. The bumper.... Cut the old bumper off with a plasma cutter, but didnt pull back the side panels..... burned strait trough both sides. They will 100% have to be replaced in a few months now. The burned aluminum panels wont last much longer. Welded some plates to the cut frame for the new bumper. But must not have noticed he cut them uneven. So on one side there is over an inch of fill weld. Literally a thicker layer of weld that the actual plate its being secured too. Meaning my trailer is now only as strong as that one weld. And those plates are welded an inch higher than the bumper, so the wood floors dont sit flush. When i picked it up from him of course i. Noticed the lights werent working ( how could they be) and he got mad and told me it had to be my truck. At the time i didnt know enough to argue, so i asked him to show me. And sure enough i had 2 blown fuses. So i took the trailer and went to replace the fuses. They blew immediately. Turns out its because every wire is shorted to every other wire. He said he checked everything 3 times. But he couldnt have since there wasnt a physical wire going to the reverse lights or brakes. Now..... a month later, and i have had to re wire my entire trailer myself (well with the neighbors help) no one from Sheltons will call me back. Have had to dispute the charges, so we will see. But please, please, please................go somewhere else. Trust me. This guy is in over his head. He needs to go back to hot shots. read more
