I had trouble with the transmission, couldn't drive over 30 mph from South Dakota back to Houston. The A/C was in and out, mostly out from the time we left home. My kids were miserable and sweating most of our trip. When I called the number provided to us, it went to voicemail most of the time. I got a person on the phone once (Chris) who claimed he couldn't hear me and never called me back. Never again. We had a fun trip planned, but this definitely put a damper on things. Had to cut out a lot of our stops to compensate for the extra driving time. Really disappointing. read more

What a terrible place! Refused to speak with us on wanting to rent our first RV ever and answer some basic ?'s. We were ignored when we arrived and when we flagged someone down he told us basically we needed to just go rent online. When we tried to explain that we didn't know what type we could pull or the equipment we needed he didn't seem to care and was told whatever. When we tried to pull into the parking lot a big truck came blaring in and parked diagonal taking up both spots. Should have know from the second we arrived that this place sucks! read more

Very poor service and though promised, failed to refund for days not used. We rented for the week after Thanksgiving. Went out to see the Class C we selected and check it out. AFTER we reviewed the unit we selected, "something" happened to THAT unit and we were given another one. Picked up the replacement unit 11/26 and went over it with a rep. It was about the same as the other unit. BUT the back up camera didn't work and several items were not operational. We tried reaching Cypress RV for the 24/7 service we paid for - no response. Went back on Monday after Thanksgiving to see if we could get the camera to work. No one was there. No one ever responded about the backup camera. We left the unit with the keys. When contacted about a refund, were told we would get a prorated refund. We got the security deposit but nothing else. Terrible. Never again. read more

We had never rented or driven an RV before. We are glad we used Cypress RV We have a perfect experience with Cypress RV. I would gladly use them again. The RV was well maintained. Service was great. Great are people. We even had a flat and it was quickly fixed at no charge because we got the coverage. We got our deposit back in full. I have seen some people complain - at other RV rentals - that they get dinged on the security deposit. We had no problem. My wife and I keep a tight ship; we have 4 rental houses so we know what a clean rental should look like at the end of the contract. I think people who are the most upset write negative reviews. Used twice. First time pretty good. RV had seen better days and the stove didn't work but we survived. Second time reserved a smaller newer one only to find out 3 days before we were "double booked". Funny I had reserved over 6 months prior. Asked for certain features on a replacement and the unit we got was a POS. Nothing worked right and the check engine light came on one hour into the trip. My wife and I rented a 24' Class C RV from Cypress RV in Cypress, Texas in September of 2020 for a 12 day vacation in Rapid City, South Dakota. Before taking possession of the unit we performed a "walk through" of the RV with Cypress RV personnel and we were assured by them that equipment had been cleaned and was in good working order. Visual inspection of the RV revealed that that the unit was about 4-5 years old had been damaged at some point, indicated by some trim damage and a bent rear bumper. After leaving for our vacation, we subsequently noted several "significant problems" with the RV, including: * A check unit light on the dual fuel (electric/propane) refrigerator was illuminated, which ultimately showed that the propane refrigeration system was inoperable. As a result, the refrigerator would only cool using electricity. For the duration of the trip the unit's ONAN generator needed to be operating while traveling in order to adequately cool our food. * The air conditioning unit associated with the Mercedes Benz chassis only worked intermittently. This necessitated that the AC unit be shut down periodically in order for the unit to "defrost", after a significant period, the unit would again provide cooling for a limited period of time. * A ¼" plastic (PEX) water fitting burst on the bathroom commode while traveling, flooding the floor of the RV. * The driver's side headlamp was burned out, a fact that was discovered on day two of the trip. It is likely that the headlamp was not working when the unit first left Cypress RV's lot. * The shower leaked underneath the shower floor, again causing flooding of the RV floor. * The unit's back-up camera ceased operating on day three of the trip and was inoperable during the duration of the trip. The commode leak and the water leaking underneath the shower floor necessitated our spending several unplanned nights in hotel rooms at added expense, as well as waiting the better part of a day at a RV repair shop in Rapid City to fix the commode issue. (The refrigerator propane issue was never resolved.) Overall, Cypress RV did not provide a serviceable unit for our trip and failed to adequately maintain their rental equipment. While we did not anticipate the RV to be in "new" condition, our reasonable expectation was that the RV would have received normal maintenance and that the major systems would be in good working order. As a result, our vacation was ruined and cost us much more than we originally expected. I would strongly discourage anyone from renting RV's from Cypress RV.¬¬ read more

We rented A1 on 9/10-9-13 we had a great time had one issue where when we plugged into shore power it didn't work. So no power I called the 24 hour line a couple times it was 245 AM I talked to George who immediately got the service guy on the phone at 245 in the morning to help walked me through several scenarios. We Figured it out it was the auto switch in the rv that would not let power back in lucky it worked it out. I was hesitant to rent from cypress rv since there are several bad reviews but we had a great time only recommendation to cypress rv is to fix the steps :) read more

My friends and I rented from Cypress RV Rental in October. The whole pickup process was great. They were flexible with our pickup time and even worked around us arriving later than expected. Once we arrived at our destination we started to notice a few things. The bed linens were stained and dirty. We had issues with the grey and black water while using the shower. The shower constantly flooded even while turning the water off and on. We also experienced a power outage the following day. We ended up troubleshooting this problem for two hours and then we received help over the phone. I am writing this review because I contacted the company by phone and by email about all of the issues we had during our rental. I didn't receive a response from anyone. My husband also ended up leaving his license in the copier and he never received it in the mail. If they would work on their customer service I would have given them a higher rating, but to not respond at all is unacceptable. read more

When planning a road trip to New Mexico, a group of buddies and I decided to look into renting an RV. I looked up all the options in Houston and settled on this place because pricing was good and they seemed to hit you with extra fees less than the others. Overall, the experience was great. They were very flexible on my pickup time, showed me how to work the unit, and had a convenient night drop off (which was good because we rolled back into town at around 2 am). Also, there was no mileage charges which was helpful since we drove so far. Saved me money. I give it 5 stars because I don't really know what they could have done better. That said, it was my first RV rental. But I would definitely recommend using them to anyone looking for a midsize RV at a good price. read more

The people are very nice! The RV we rented was in very good mechanical shape. A few minor wear and tear spots inside but nothing that was an inconvenience. I don't know the year of the vehicle and we have never ridden in a 29' RV before but found it tiresome to handle and a rough, noisy ride (lot depending on the road condition). If you have experience with big vehicles, you will have no problem driving. It was our only option to get where we wanted to go and I am not sorry I did it this way, but will opt for a newer model next time for a smoother, quieter ride. Plenty of storage room in the forward area. Bedroom, not so much but adequate. The couches were surprisingly comfortable as a couch or bed. Bed mattress was fine. The check in process requires someone with a good memory or mechanical knowledge to remember how to get all the utilities to work. Glad I took my son along. We still had to call them a couple times and they were readily available, courteous, helpful and very knowledgeable. Everything worked very well. The check out process was painless. No long process or hidden fees. Definitely felt it was worth the price. A word to the wise. PACK LIGHT. Plan on about 8 miles per gallon. There are laundries, convenience and box stores all along the way for anything you need and you will welcome the walk and stretch. read more

The RV's are not well maintained. We rented one to drive to CA and they knew this but they hadn't ever changed the fuel filter. After we broke down in the West Texas desert with two young kids in the middle of the night on a frigid Dec day I can tell you what exactly works and doesn't on that RV. Had an excellent experience renting a 30' tow behind trailer for Spring Break 2016. Unit (Layton) was ready at pick-up time and was clean and in good working order. I would rent from the again, however, after reading reviews I would suggest checking out your unit prior to renting to make sure you know what your signing up for. RENTER'S BEWARE!! We rented Unit 3 and the experience was a total disaster. Nothing and I mean nothing on this unit worked properly. The hot water didn't work, the shower door was off its track, the generator only worked half the time, the cabin battery was dead, the bed was terrible the driver seat was horribly uncomfortable, the ceiling vents were broken, shall I go on? This company clearly doesn't care about clients having bad experiences and sharing them on the Web. Overall we had a decent weekend because the area we went was beautiful, although they were three things that were less than satisfactory on this RV rental... They were as follows: 1) the RV was dirty.... We payed extra money for the extra service including towels sheets etc..... When we got there the carpet in the driving area was extremely dirty with white dog hair.... They cleaned it but apparently It was so dirty from the rental before that when we got out on the road more white dog care appeared from under the bed, in the closets etc..... My wife is allergic to dog dander and needless to say she was having difficulty breathing the whole trip. 2) the RV had fleas.... When we tried to go to sleep we noticed little bugs were jumping around inside the vehicle and on our bodies and faces.... Disgusting! 3) There were three ways to watch television: a) satellite b) aerial c) cable none of these worked.... Forgot to give us a coaxial cable for the cable-TV .... The manager at the campsite Was nice enough to give us his to borrow although still no cable TV on all three televisions in the RV.... Upon looking closer at the TVs we could see that the coaxial cables and other boxes were disconnected as though they began a repair and never bothered to finish fixing it... Unacceptable. 4) the wiper blades were old and apparently were not checked by the staff so when we tried to drive home from the Austin area it started to rain and we could barely see outside of the front window.... Very dangerous especially when you consider this a 15,000 pound vehicle, It's 27 feet long and it's my first time driving it.... Very dangerous! We were never offered a refund on our extra "white glove" services we paid for or for not having any TV that we paid for... I'll be holding my breath for my refund..... RENTER BEWARE is right. I just wanted to relate our RV experience renting from Cypress RV rental. We rented the ACE from a Friday to Sunday, so we didn't have a lot of days and the following issues were a big part of our experience. The water did not work. When we hooked up at RV site and turned on water, it drained out from the bottom of the RV. I called them that first night and the office was closed. So, no water the first night. Talked to them the next day and we walked thru the hookups. I took pictures and sent them to them. They ask me to try the reserve tank, but when running that, it also leaked. They offered to check and see about sending someone out that day (I was in San Antonio), but I said no. I didn't want to deal with someone coming, directions, timing, etc. when I was only there one more day and didn't want to spend that day with repairman. So, no water the first night and subsequently the rest (my decision). TV did not work the first night. In checking out, we were just told to turn the TV on and it will work. When attempting that the first night, it, of course, did not work. We called Friday evening, but the office was closed, so no response from them that night. When talking to them the next day, we were walked through a whole process of having to find a crank, crank up antenna, find a switch in the side of a cabinet to turn on antenna. When that still didn't work, I was told to scan for channels on the TV. So, after finding the right source and scanning, I eventually got over the air channels. When I asked why this wasn't explained to me when we checked out the RV, the lady said that this was new and they weren't used to handling it. The hose used to "dump" from the RV did not have a connector on one end. Just the cut off end of the hose. So, no way to connect this hose. When I informed them that the next day, they asked if there was a Walmart close by and that I could just go there and buy one and she was sure that she could get that reimbursed for me. I said that I was not taking the RV to Walmart to buy a part. Again wasting time on my day. And that since we didn't have water anyway, we weren't using the "system" and therefore didn't need to dump. When driving on our way back, we notice a rotten egg smell. Worried it was gas, we pulled over, check the propane tank, and turned off the propane valve. We let it air out and started up again, sure enough the smell returned. We pulled over again and called the roadside assistance number. No answer. Message said they would return call in 5-10 minutes. I waited 15 and called back. No answer. I then texted the phone number that I had used the previous day to show the pictures of the water issue. 30 minutes later I received a call both from the original roadside assistance and the other number. Both claimed that we should be alright and something else other than the gas, could be causing the problem. We turned off the fridge since we were told that it runs on the propane. Since we had been waiting for the call, the RV had aired out by that time and we started up again. The smell came back and lasted about another 30-40 minutes and then seemed to dissipate and went away. Not once was anything offered to make this right. No apology. No discount. No rebate. The water not working is a BIG issue. I even saved them the money in not having to send anyone out to fix the issue. Not having a connector on the "dumping" hose seems like a pretty easy check before you let the RV out. Maybe you give an explanation on how the TV works. Maybe a laminated sheet with instructions of the many things that are a part of the RVing process. We were extremely disappointed with the rental experience. And it was not a cheap experience. For nothing to be offered as compensation, just added to the disappointment. I sent the company this same information to give them a chance to respond and, after 2 weeks, I have not received a response. read more

Easiest rental I have ever had. The whole process was a breeze. From the online booking to actually coming in to sign the contract, everything was super easy. During my rental, I didn't have any problems. I was a little leery after reading some of these reviews, but I'm so glad I ignored them. This is a terrible business they have false advertising to get you to put down your deposit and then when you go to pick up your rv it's nothing that they said it would be. We thought there would be dish TV as it said on their website and there wasn't. We ended up with a junky old rv where everything was falling apart. The shower door and window vents wouldn't close properly so the entire time all you hear is annoying noise like doors slamming flaps flapping ect. Their prices aren't very competitive considering the product they have so if I were you I would rent elsewhere. read more

I went online to reserve my rental a couple months back, and when I picked up last week it was super easy. You reserve your unit online which I really liked. All very straight forward with nobody trying to upsale you. When I showed up they took me around the RV and showed me how to use everything (which was good because I was nervous and didn't know how to use anything!) They even have a service center on call 24/7, so on Tuesday I was able to call and resolve an issue with the AC. They took my user error in stride, and we had a great trip! I have been renting RVs for years. This April I decided to try Cypress RV Rental since they were a new family business and close to my house. I found the website very easy to use and I loved the fact I could reserve the unit instantly online without having to talk to anybody. Everyone else has you fill out a form and calls you back. I was a little nervous when I showed up to pick up the RV since I did everything online and never actually spoke to anybody (although I could have called them anytime). The RV was ready to go as soon as I got there. I checked the RV out carefully since I was taking my family on a 1800 mile trip (thank goodness for unlimited miles). The tires looked brand new. Even though the RV was a couple of years old it looked brand new inside. Carpet in rental units is usually pretty bad - but this carpet looked great. Everything inside was so clean it looked professionally detailed. The RV drove great and was a smooth ride. Then came time for the part I always dread - returning the rental. In the past I always get stuck paying something out of my security deposit - but not here! I returned the unit pretty dirty on the outside because we went through rain the day before, and I forgot to dump the septic tanks. (We did clean it real good on the inside). I was expecting them to hit me for a cleaning and dumping fee, but I got my entire security deposit back and told not to worry about it. Overall this was a great experience. The RV was clean and drove great, the family is very friendly and knows how to treat customers (which is lacking in this industry), and even the dreaded check-in process was fast and easy. They have earned a return customer for life here. I highly recommend them. read more

Price was reasonable, RV was in driving Condition. Brand new oil change before our trip. Stereo (In dash radio) worked fine. It even accepted our USB Thumb-drives full of MP3s. There were a couple of issues, but what vacation is 100% Perfect?? Troy (Owner) helped and made them right in the end. Our unit (40' Beaver Patriot--Beaver for short) went engine, transmission, cooling, brakes, steering, tires, electrical, plumbing, AC, Fridge, Microwave TROUBLE-FREE! The tech (Roger) climbed on the roof, took off the AC cover and picked a dirt dobber nest off of one of the fan blades. Did not charge me and the enire staff was a pleasure to talk to. We just rented from Cypress RV Rental for the third time in the past year and a half. We love renting from Cypress RV Rental and will continue to use them everytime we go camping. They are an honest family run business, and are always available by text or email if you run into any problems along the way. For example, if you need help lighting the oven pilot, or if your AC breaker tripped, they can walk you through it till you figure it out. RENTER'S BEWARE!!!!! I recently rented Unit 2 and had very little support when we had troubles on the road. My family was traveling to El Paso and planned to stay at rest stops along the way. When I attempted to call for service (no hot water) I received an automated message stating that they were currently busy assisting other customers. After several attempts we contacted the service tech who recommended we troubleshoot and call back in an hour. We followed his directions exactly, still no hot water. We called again in an hour and he told us to do some more troubleshooting and call him again in another hour. My husband finally fixed the problem without his help. On our return trip, the generator stopped working altogether. By this time, it was after hours and the answering machine still said they were busy assisting other customers..really were you? at nine PM? We were prompted to leave a message but were unable to before getting disconnected from auto system. We had no generator for the remainder of our trip. We finally contacted service and they told us to find an RV park where we could plug in. Upon return of the unit, we were told that the owner would be contacting us. This was 6 days ago and we haven't heard a word. My biggest disappointment was that we would have loved to give them another try maybe in a newer unit, but now I fear that we would have been in a real mess if we had had actual engine troubles. There was no customer support which is even more disappointing since we chose them because they are "family owned" and wanted to support their family business. IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR SAFETY, NEVER, EVER, RENT FROM CYPRESS RV RENTAL (A July 2015 vacation nightmare!!) Like most of the customers' comments, my experience using the D-1 Diesel Pusher, customer service, and responsiveness with this company was horrible!!! Not only was the unit completely unserviceable from the moment we picked it up and should have never been rented to us, it actually broke down on us in Baton Rouge, La, 5 hours away from our home. In addition to the myriad of phone calls, texts and emails that went un-responded to, here is a list of some of the things that were wrong with the vehicle: 1. Vehicle not ready for pick up at noon: Sewer system was being repaired. 2. Neither TV's worked the entire trip; No answer on how to fix them from Cypress RV 3. Several other outlets didn't work either. No answer on how to fix from Cypress RV 4. Speedometer not working properly: They mentioned monitoring the gas levels but there was 3/4th of a tank in the vehicle. From then on, I never let the vehicle get below 3/4th a tank which meant stopping and filling it up every 200 or so miles. An incredible waste of time. 5. Cruise control not working 6. Rain water leaked inside the vehicle 7. Right tail light out 8. Fuel Pressure sensor and accelerate sensor failed repeatedly causing the Engine Warning light to come on and the engine to idle to 0 mph while driving the vehicle MAJOR SAFTEY PROBLEM!! Vehicle stalled several times in the middle of busy interstates and intersections for 20-30 minutes or more!!! 9. Had to use my vacation time to find a repairman in Destin, Fl. The repairman indicated the fuel pressure sensor and accelerator sensor failed over 450 times since I had the vehicle and the parts needed to be replaced. a. On a different note, I got a call from the repairman on 7/28 checking to see if I made it home okay and he said they refused to pay him for coming to the RV park in Destin to check the vehicle out!!! 10. Due to accelerator and fuel problem, the vehicle would not go faster than 60 mph because it wasn't getting enough fuel. This turned a 14 hour trip into a 19 hour trip!! 11. Had to spend 2 of the 6 nights in a hotel room because the vehicle couldn't make it to its destinations 12. The motorhome stalled several times during the trip from Destin to Houston and finally died in Baton Rouge in the middle of a busy intersection. Had to rent an SUV and drive back!! 13. Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau!! And given all of this, Cypress RV's main concern was that I get the rental back so they could rent it to another customer by the check in time. They never contacted me to see if we made it back, to apologize for any trouble or inconvenience, or to offer any amount of refund. AND, they are still attempting to charge me full price for the rental and the deposit because their vehicle was left (broken down) in Baton Rouge. It's clear that this company is clearly only in it for the money and has no respect for its customers. Therefore, I caution anyone interested in this company to heed my experience and don't use them!!! read more

I rented the c9 vip unit for labor day weekend. The rv only had half a tank of gas and the septic tank was not empty causing the smell of feces to be overwhelming inside the rv. We were told to fill up the gas tank ourselves and we would be credited the amount for the fill up. Despite multiple texts and phone calls no one has ever answered me or ever credited my account the amount we spent to fill up the gas tank on pick up. The carbon monoxide alarm went off continually starting at about an hour into the trip. We called in but got no help so we eventually had to remove and disconnect the alarm ourselves to end the constant alarm. The unit was not cleaned well and we found dirty underwear in the top bunk. One of the beds was broken and too uncomfortable to even consider sleeping on. The unit was advertised as having linen but there were only sheets on the queen bed. Overall the rental and our experience was extremely disappointing and unsatisfactory and I would never rent from cypress rv rental again especially considering the complete lack of any customer service. read more

This experience turned into a great experience simply because the owner of Cypress RV "made things right"! I believe a business can be made or broken by simple customer service or lack thereof. No business/company/person is perfect, and mistakes will be made, but it's the way a mistake is handled that will win me over every time and keep me returning. Cypress RV has done that for me. We had a few bumps in the road to begin with, but the end result turned me into a believer that there are still people willing to do the right thing. We rented C-14 2017 Coachmen Leprechaun 24 foot RV for our trip. I'm not going to review the unit itself as it was new and in perfect condition. I will say if you are a newbie this is a perfect starter size to try. The size makes it super easy to drive, yet big enough for any RV trip. We had two adults, two 11yrs boys and a 15 yrs old girl and fit just fine. The outside TV/radio was a nice touch! Ben was as great and easy to work with. Picking up the unit went smoothly and took about 40 mins, dropping the unit off after our trip was even easier. I literally handed in the keys at 8:40 am and had our deposit back by 1:00pm. Ben also gave us his cell number if we had any troubles on our trip! I have one suggestion, especially for anyone that has never rented an RV before and is reading these reviews - pay attention when they are explaining how your unit works, ask questions, and consider taking a video of the entire process for you to review once you get to your destination. Like any vehicle "stuff happens" don't let it wreck your trip. Trouble shoot the problem, keep smiling and enjoy your trip. It is a fun and easy way to travel with kids. read more

What a nightmare!! If you value your families safety, run the other way. We rented Unit B1 in July. Picked it up, and while driving home, noticed the aircon did not work in the cab. Called the 'emergency help number" no answer. Called the next day as we were scheduled to leave Houston. I was told to get it repaired on our way to Colorado, and they would pay for it. Asked them to find us a repair place, they said they would but did not. Then the generator stopped working, so no aircon in the entire unit for 17 hour trip. Found an RV repair place in Colorado and called Chris at Cypress RV, and gave him the info. He never called them. Went to pick it up, still no word from Chris. Called him, and he gave the Repair shop a credit card. It was denied. Spent another hour at the repair place trying to get in touch with Chris. He gave them a second credit card, it was denied. Chris then asked me to pay for the repair and he would pay me back. Left all receipts in the RV, and Troy claims they were never there. Minor issues, check engine light went on 50 miles our of Houston, RV smelled of cigarette smoke, exhaust fan was broken, roaches in kitchen area. Still have not received my payment for the $850 repair. Just returned from Iraq, and will call Troy myself, as he has blocked my wife's calls and emails. BBB and legal may be my only option. read more

We rented the c-8 or c-9 unit for my son's birthday. The stove did not work and we kept having to call. The 1000.00 rental deposit is steeeep for most families as you have to submit the entire deposit and the entire rental fee at the same time. We loved our RV experience, however, a MONTH later today, October 20, 2015, I checked my personal email and noticed that I had an email dated October 19, 2015 sent at 2:34pm from Troy with Cypress RV. The email stated that we had 'toll violations. I was confused because we added the rental unit to the HCTRA system the day of our departure, so a MONTH later I assume that there must be a clerical error. Reading further down the email from Troy, it stated that if I did not respond by the close of the business day that they would charge my account $75.00. Now, 75.00 is not a large amount but the principle of the matter is this----who gives a valued customer who spend thousands of dollars a THREE HOUR window to respond to a simple toll charge? I checked my account and he surely processed 75.00 for a couple of tolls charges that should have been charged to the the toll road authority. Surely, he could have given a courtesy call or more than a three hour window of time to clear the matter up! All it would have taken was a call to HCTRA and they would have simply placed the charges on the appropriate account like they were supposed to do in the first place. THIS ACTION is what will make me NEVER rent from them again. My husband was going to rent another unit for a week next month, but they just lost a sale because of LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. No one who is renting an expensive RV is going to try to STEAL a 1.50 toll charge! --Sad. read more
