Delux-O coffee bar! More options than you can shake a (swizzle) stick at.
Eric S.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your hungry truck drivers yearning to be clean" --Shell station attendant (and Emma Lazarus) The common perception of a gas station is one of sketchy employees, dirty/sticky floors, weird smells, and random crap everywhere that's usually expired. Throw all those notions out the window and step inside this brand-spanking-new Shell station & convenience mart. The grand opening of the Subway restaurant located inside drew me in with promises of buy-one/get-one sandwiches, and it was then that I saw how swanky the place was. Adequate lighting, nicely organized shelves, a wide-ranging selection of junk food and other miscellaneous items. I saw what looked to be the manager taking inventory of the Twinkiesâ„¢, a clear sign of dedication in the workplace. I'm no trucker, but I understand they have a nice shower area that gets cleaned periodically. SPOTLESS restrooms with space-age hand dryers [photo attached], the likes of which I've never seen anywhere else. There was even an attendant cleaning the sink area when I was in there, which surprised me in a great way. Between the Slushy zone, frozen food section, and *huge* upscale coffee bar, these guys have got all the bases covered. They even had a wonderful condiment tray that included fresh jalapenos, taco sauce, horseradish and chopped onions in packets! Holy moly. Many other places have, at best, ketchup and mustard, so you'll really get spoiled here if you're a condiment fiend (okay, hoarder) like me. The Subway employees were diligent and didn't appear clinically depressed, a first for the lauded sandwich chain! [I'm not saying that everyone who works/has worked at a Subway is a raging sociopath, but flip a coin and those are your odds that your sandwich maker smiles regularly]. They were even cool enough to accept a coupon that was 2 days expired, super nice of them. One negative comment: I was looking for an air pump station to inflate my car tires and couldn't find one anywhere on the property :'( bah, who needs air anyways? Not like we need it to breath. I will definitely be returning to this location to buy things I don't need (snackfoods) with money I don't have (next month's rent). I'd recommend that anyone headed north on I-294 make a pit stop at this Northlake Shell station, especially if you're a coffee fancier or would benefit from using an immaculate--and I mean immaculate--public bathroom. Welcome to the 21st century, O venerable gas station! Ye shall receive more business of mine.

Brand new gas station with dual service for truck and passenger cars. Showers, wifi, food, and great prices. Really needed in this area when heading to ohare

AF truck stop in Northlake, IL consistently overcharges my credit card. Don't charge anything there.
