Stopped here for some gas and a bit to eat on our way back from Lake Tahoe. Lot's of horrible reviews on this place. Glad that wasn't our experience. Gas was high but I sorta expect that in places like this. We found the staff to be friendly and informative. We came here to do some exploring on our bikes, we stopped here for gas, filled up and purchased food and coffee as well. We asked the person behind the counter if we could park our van there for a couple of hours while we went exploring, he said no problem. Just as we were preparing to leave the owner came and told us we could not leave the van there, he didn't want us using one of his parking spaces. There were 15-20 open spots and the same when we returned. Admittedly he does not have to allow us to park there, but you would think for a place that charges $6.99 a gallon for gas and depends on tourists for the business they would be a little more friendly. We were preriding the route for a motorcycle tour we are bringing through next week, I guess we will take them to the Valero for fuel. read more

LADIES BEWARE of using the bathroom. The guy behind the counter was acting super weird, giving me an uneasy vibe and when I used the bathroom, he pressed the button to open the door (which is super weird in itself. They have all of these signs about how the restrooms are for customer customers only and he has to buzz you into the bathroom) for me and I had a really bad feeling about him. Once I was in the restroom stall about 10 seconds later HE CAME INSIDE OF THE BATHROOM AND STOOD OUTSIDE OF MY STALL. He was only in there for about 10 seconds. The bathroom is extremely small so I was freaking out in the stall wondering if I was about to get assaulted or something and then he left only a few seconds after I don't know what the hell he was doing, but he's a major weirdo. When I came out, he was just staring at me behind the counter. I got out of there so fast. I actually ended up calling the police to see if they've had any complaints about this guy entering the restroom. The cops were of no help and couldn't figure out what Shell gas station I was talking about. I told them it was the only gas station in town with a supercharger and they said they don't own a Tesla so they don't know which gas station I'm talking about in a snarky way so I just hung up but I'm honestly worried for any female who is alone in that gas station with that creepy man like I was because I'm absolutely certain that's something bad is going to happen in the future to somebody. read more

Me and my family went into the shell to get are drinks and snacks for the road and use the restroom. I asked the gentleman with glasses red hair. if there was any napkins. He says why for your hand . 10:15 shell gas station in Bridgeport ca on highway 395 Went in to buy ice and snacks for our fishing trips and i thought I would use the restroom while i was there, the "women's" restroom had a line so I assumed it was a one person stall inside and there wasn't anyone in the men's so I thought I would use that one well one of the workers there ask me "what r u doing" as rude as can be and I explained the line etc and he said no u are not using the men's restroom and I asked why since there wasn't anyone there and he said again as rude as he possible could, "cause it's the men's" and then said to me "Jesus Christ u don't own the place" and I said "geesh u don't have to bite my head off" Ok wow, he didn't have to use the tone he used especially since what I asked was pleasant. Was on a long road trip had to pay like $7 a gallon for gas here, next day leaving twin lakes my tire pressure was off I asked if they can let me fill my tire, I saw the air gun on the other side of the glass garage door. She just said "nope, but there's another gas station about 30 miles away" with a smirk on her face, I then asked can I use the bathroom she said "customers only". Told her i bought $70 in gas yesterday she said "whatd you buy today". Let me preplay your experience for you: All the reviews about the clerk/owner (whom resembles a similarity to Paul blart without the segway) will hound you to purchase a bag of chips at the same cost of sending your child to a 4 year out of state university just to relief yourself. You've now purchased your child's tuition on a bag of stale corn chips and stand in line for the bathroom. The line is being controlled by his access to open the door with a button like a sick game of waiting on baby Jesus to open the pearly gates. He stares at you like Ted Bundy is not really dead but rather has reincarnated into a 50 year old unsuccessful active shooter still living with his mother. The toilet is clogged and the line is long. You are thinking of dumping all the contents of your child's tuition on the floor just to pee in the bag. The owners of this Shell station clearly give zero shits. The gas prices are beyond outrageous. I wasn't expecting cheap gas, but to they are clearly out to gauge people. The gauging doesn't stop with gas either. Over $9.00 for a bag of nuts, and $7.00 for a super cheap sandwich, which even at 7/11 would cost you maybe $3.00. I don't care about the bathroom issue like everyone else here has posted. It's their toilets, it's not a rest stop, whatever. Gas prices were ridiculous, that's true, but the independent station just down the street is only 10 cents cheaper per gallon than this Shell. Both of them are still $1.50 per gallon higher than the gas in my city right now. Heck, even the gas station at Topaz Lake just 40 miles up 395 was over $1.25 cheaper per gallon. Gas at the Chevron in Gardnerville is $1.40 cheaper! So if any of these Bridgeport Shell goons say it's because of their remoteness that their prices are higher it's all BS. I take real umbrage with the amount of crap I got from the two turkeys working when I asked them to turn the air on so I could fill up my tires. You'd have thought I told them I shot their dogs. They looked at me with disgust and exasperation. They told me it would be a dollar to turn the machine on. I looked at them incredulously. Seriously? You can't just flip the switch and turn the air on? No, that will be $1. I bought $60 in gas from you two days ago when I was heading through Bridgeport! Guy looks at me like Jabba the Hut looked when he was getting strangled by Princess Leia. Smashes his sausage finger on the register, pulls out four quarters, hands them to his buddy, Toothless Joe, who literally meets me out back and puts the quarters in the machine for me, like I'm going to steal a dollar in quarters. FFS! Then I start filling and I'm literally able to fill up two tires from 25psi to 40psi before the air stops. Not daring to ask for four more quarters because, you know, it's such a huge imposition, I put my own quarters in the machine, even though, you know, $60 in gas, and fill up the other two tires. Here's the rub, the independent station down the street doesn't have air, or so the lady told me. So if you want air in Bridgeport save your frigging receipt in case you're passing back through a day or two or seven days later otherwise, apparently, if you ask for air you've done something ISIS level atrocious. Btw: AB 531 states: Existing law requires every service station in this state to provide, during operating hours, water, compressed air, and a gauge for measuring air pressure, to the public for use in servicing any passenger or commercial vehicle, as defined. Existing law provides that the failure of an owner or manager of a service station to have adequate water and air facilities for use by the public for 5 consecutive working days constitutes a rebuttable presumption that the owner or manager has intentionally violated these provisions. An intentional violation of these provisions is an infraction punishable by a fine not to exceed $50 per day. This bill would require that these air and water services be made available at no cost to customers who purchase motor vehicle fuel, as defined. This is probably the least friendly gas/food mart I've ever stopped at. Not only is the gas insanely expensive (only gas in town), but there are signs everywhere telling people the restrooms were for paying customers only. Right next to the pumps is a lovely grassy area that would be perfect for some relief for the dogs but there was a sign posted "no dogs allowed." Not even if they were paying customers. It did say "sorry" though so I guess that makes it okay. You have to walk down the road to find something other than concrete. read more

We stopped here to buy candy and use the restroom. There was a HUGE line for the women's room. We were prepared to bury something because it said in about four places "RESTROOMS FOR CUSTOMER USE ONLY" there was a unisex handicapped stall that said "HANDICAPPED USE ONLY NO EXCEPTIONS" I asked the clerk to open It since there were 10 women or more in line for two stalls and 5 men in line for the men's room. He said "No exception the owners rules, he's probably watching right now and will fire me." So yeah ridiculous price for gas. Go to the station a bit further south that is independent and hVe them the business if you need to. Do not shop here! If I could use negatives I would. All bathrooms had a sign that the toilets were for paying customer use only and would remain locked until a customer had paid. The cashier was rude and curt. We stopped because it is the first bathroom coming into town from the 395 and my mother and I had to pee. There was no holding it. There was a 2-stall women's bathroom and a men's bathroom with a urinal and one stall. In addition to these, a handicapped unisex stall with a sign "handicapped only. No exceptions" on the door. When asked if he would please open the door the allow the onslaught of women to relieve themselves, he said he would certainly not, because it was not worth his job to be fired over letting someone into the handicapped only stall--the misogynist said this only after a man had just used this bathroom. Luckily, we did not need any gas, as they are highway robbers asking for gas at $4.09/gallon. Their items are all overpriced, likely to add insult to injury about their rule that only paying customers may urinate at their "establishment." The bathrooms themselves were functional, but filthy, and I recommend peeing on the side of the road, as I wish I had done. read more

Well, we needed air and wanted to charge us, but it appears that my family and I are not the only ones having disrespect from the 2 country boys in this podunk shell station. Granted we did not purchase gas this trip; however, over the 30 years of traveling to our family home in Tahoe we have stopped here at least 2 times per year for either gas or snacks. We make a habit of stopping here as it is a good spot between Bishop and Tahoe. To add to, we have a company car and don't pay for gas, so selfishly I don't care what we pay for gas. WE WILL NOT VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT EVER AGAIN! They're simply here for a transaction "NOW" and do not care if you're patron 30 minutes ago, 1 day or 30 years! DO NOT THINK YOU WILL BE DIFFERENT, FIND OTHER BUSINESSES THAT HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE AND APPRECIATE ITS CUSTOMERS. This Shell is a great place to stop. It is approximately half way between Reno and Bishop, so, it's a great place to stop geographically. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. The store is clean. The bathrooms are clean. They are renovating. They moved the bathrooms inside and built them from scratch. They are putting in new food and coffee machines. The selection isn't as large as others, but it is very good. The coffee is fresh. The prices are a little higher, but Bridgeport is in the middle of nowhere, so, it costs them more to operate. The parking lot has a large dip on the southwest side, so, be careful. read more

Are you kidding me ? I am a 5th generation Californian and I am telling you all this is not a reflection of Californians. We were coming back from our trip to Montana . Went through Oregon , Idaho , Montana ,NV , Utah and of course we drove all the way up from San Diego so we drove through the entire state . They were charging over $5 per gallon here when the rest of the state is at $3.50 (we checked) and had just gotten gas in Ca but stoppped for snacks . Wait it gets better . Upon going in I was greeted by a no you can't use the bathroom sign unless you are a paying customer . I stop a lot . Guess what ? First sign this trip like that . Also, do you really need the "no refill " signs ? Again , first time I have seen a sign like that in a transit type gas station . You guys have a problem with locals drinking up tons of 5 cent refill soda . Probably the most unwelcoming place ever . Welcome back to California . Do whatever you can to avoid this place . A ok, but very high price. I think they re gouging us. Price is 2 dollars a gallon higher than Gardnerville. Gas here is 4.49 a gallon, gas at arco in Gardnerville is 2.55 a gallon. Gas at twin lakes 6 miles away is about 3.65 a gallon. Gas in Lee vining is 3.99 and 3.59, gas at Mammoth is about 3.85, so I recommend if you re driving LA to Reno, Tahoe, fill up in Bishop and or Gardnerville, nv. Stopped into this gas station/mini-mart twice, once on the way south and again on the way back. First time had coffee, which was cold. Watched as another customer, who had just tasted his coffee, say audibly how awful it was, set it on the counter and walked out without paying for it. Don't blame him. On the second visit, I bought a fruit pie. Probably a bad choice to begin with, but I tend to eat more junk food on the road. It was really bad, very dry, and actually inedible. I ate one bite, forced it down and then threw out the rest. But the worst thing about the place is the attitude of the guy behind the counter. He is about the least friendly person I've met working a counter anywhere. Next time I go through Bridgeport, I will make it a point to avoid this place. read more

Station will not let paying customers use the air compressor without paying $0.75 for air. This is in violation of CA State Law. The station does not care and even replied for us to 'take it up with the state.' Looking at the other reviews it's clear that the not only does the owner not care about the law but don't care about their customers either.
