Treated poorly when I asked to use my Safeway points for gas. Something went wrong and I asked to just forget about using the points. At the pump, noted an employee with what appeared to be a US flag frowning as he walked out of the store. As I tried to pump fuel, nothing happened. This guy with the flag & beard, starts yelling that my Safeway card messed up the pump. Yelled to put the hose back and went inside in a huff. I waited for some time, but nobody came out. When I finally went in to see what happened, I was angrily told to move to pump 9. I pumped my gas and got the heck out of there. Come to find out that whatever happened subtracted points from my Safeway account without getting the discount. Frankly, this flag guy needed to chill and stop blaming people for technical problems that they can't solve. Poor attitude. read more

This place Mammoth Chevron Inc owned by Karl and Debbie Teller price gouged us and charged us almost double for tire chains for our car. We bought the peerless SZ-441 chains here on 12/27/25 and they charged us $265.00 plus tax for a total of $290.81 when the exact same tire chains sell for $165 at three different stores. I will be reporting them to the California Deputy AG and the California Consumer Protection Bureau. Price gouging is illegal in California, specifically under Penal Code Section 396, which prohibits increasing prices for essential goods, services, and housing by more than 10% during and after a declared state of emergency (like floods, fires, or pandemics), with penalties including hefty fines and jail time. read more

While on vacation our car's power steering went out. Near closing time on Friday, their mechanic took the time to meet with me, and said they would try to assess the problem the next day. Keep in mind, that the shop was fully booked for customers on Saturday, and they had staff out because of illness. They evaluated the issue and determined that the power steering pump was bad. I'm very appreciative of the extra effort Carl, the owner, and his team put in on my behalf. The community of Mammoth Lakes is fortunate to have a shop that has not only skill and experience, but that will go out of their way to help out-of-towners in auto distress. read more

We went on a family trip with our Tesla to Mammoth during the Thanksgiving break. We encountered a severe winter storm, and the car's aero shield (i.e., front skid plate) was damaged. Half of the shield popped open and was frozen in place with about four inches of ice. First thing in the morning, I took the car to a Chevron station - one of a very limited number of garages in town - to see if they could take a look - maybe put it on their lift, and put on some zip ties for a temporary patch--just enough to get us back home for a proper repair. However, I was denied service as soon as the technician heard the word "Tesla." They outright refused to help, citing that they don't want anything to do with EVs because they believe EVs contribute to California's power issues. I was told 'good luck finding anyone in town willing to work on EV's'. Just like that, I was turned away--not because they lacked the capability to help, but because they chose not to, even though I was stuck with a potential safety issue with my family. It's disappointing that they refused to assist, not due to any restrictions on servicing EVs, but purely out of personal bias. read more

Extremely rude and racist. Employee (might have been a manager) stood by a gas pump ranting loudly to a customer about his hatred of Mammoth Lakes, immigrants, and a neighborhood he called "Little Tijuana." His voice was so loud, he must have wanted every passer-by, every customer, and every worker at the pumps, garage, and car wash to hear his views. I was minding my own business, waiting for my tank to fill, and washing my car's windows, when he started yelling at me aggressively. Very offensive and strange. Do NOT mention if you are from LA because they will suggest towing your car back to LA. Seriously. My car broke down and the soonest appointment was 2 weeks later. AAA will not tow without the appointment. The guy answering was SO RUDE. Random note: my car battery had CORROSION on it. The fix was simply taking sand paper and steel wool and cleaning the terminals and the cable. Fired right up. Thank goodness I didn't wait 2 weeks for someone who didn't even appreciate the business. the mechanics here are great. i took my car in here for a flat, there were actually 2 puncture holes ( they missed one the first time) so i brought it back and they fixed the 2nd for free since they missed it. told me if i had any more problems with it to come back and they'll take care of it for me. solid guys. read more

I can't say enough about how helpful Rocky was. He really went above and beyond to save our vacation. We had an absolute nightmare tire situation. On the drive up to Mammoth we drove over a small nail, which led to a slow leak. Every other shop was closed on Sunday, but Rocky took us right away and got the leak patched within minutes. We then had a different tire go completely flat, with a tear to the sidewall. Rocky was able to track down the tire we needed in Bishop, then have it delivered to the shop, where he installed it quickly. Super grateful that what could have ruined our trip became a small inconvenience. read more

Incredibly overpriced, low quality work, and horrifying customer service. I had previously gotten a repair done here, and while they didn't get it right the first time, they fixed it when I brought my car back in. Just recently, my car broke down, and the person I spoke with told me there was nothing he could do and flat out laughed in face. We were just in Mammoth for the 4th, and after a day trip to Bodie my front right tire area started making an awful noise. We stopped by the very, very busy Chevron to see if and when they could take a look at my car. It was almost closing so John asked if we could come back in the morning to hoist it. In the morning I pulled up and Will was such an incredibly kind and welcoming person. He said they'd get a look at it right away to at least do a diagnostic. Within 30 min they called to tell me all was fixed and to come pick up my car. Both John and Will were super nice guys, despite drowning in work. Thank you both so much!! Side note: We've been here in the past for work to be done on my husband's and FIL's car and it's been great customer service each time, honest guys and great work. read more

Had a slow leak in my tire. I took in my truck which has a 3,000 lb camper on it so I could not easily inspect the tire myself. They were able to jack it up, remove the tire, do a bubble test and found that the actual wheel rim was cracked. This of course was structural and could eventually have been dangerous and not just a nuisance. I asked them how much do I owe? They simply replied that they hadn't fixed anything so they couldn't charge me. They have an excellent reputation and I hope this adds to it. Great business-great guys! read more

The manager is SUPER RUDE! He said my car is the most stupid car in the world! They fixed my flat tire in the morning, and the tire pressure was low in the afternoon at 2pm. The manager said he can only check it tomorrow. I was in a hurry to go home, and the tire continued to leak slowly on the way home. I contacted them, and the manager's attitude was very rude and said that my car is the most stupid car in the world. I believe he doesn't want to accept anything new in the world. Caveat Emptor ( Let the buyer beware). Yes, I was an imbecile for returning despite the following heinous incidences. I did so out of a sense of loyalty which was not reciprocated. 1) Went in for an oil change. The" mechanic" did not secure the oil plug. Engine blew up. 4 months later a " reconditioned" engine was provided but no compensation for lost work, no car provided, no paper work for the engine given despite multiple requests. Vehicle runs now but is unsellable. 2) Same car( duhhh for me) New struts, one failed, $1,500 dollar fix. No compensation, communication or apology. 3) The staff( except Jonny who is awesome) are always pissed off and unwelcoming. Find a service station who welcome you with a smile and are grateful for your business. read more

Great station with competitive prices and a "Do-It-Yourself" Car Wash. Also lots of enhanced---modified---cars for off-roading and 4 wheel drives for future fun on back-country pumice roads are a special offering at this station. This station was well lighted and safe. On the occasion I went in, the clerk was courteous and smells of lemony pine sol from a freshly mopped floor made a memory. Notice the souped up Yellow Volkswagen Beetle with off-road tires. There is complimentary window wash vat, squeegees and paper towels. Thanks! Regional art were mounted and hung on the walls. Chevron had a well-stocked mini mart and pink geraniums that looked happy---even after several visits. read more

Karl, Matt, and Will are LIFESAVERS! A service light turned on and the guys there were SO HELPFUL!! They checked the battery health and diagnosed that the alternator was dead. They found the part is bishop, had one of their staff drive down and get it, and got it replaced within 24 hours. Karl, Matt, and Will were so nice and helpful! I just want to thank the Rocky and the guys at our local Chevron! They were closed today, but would not let me drive off with the rear differential fluid leaking. They opened the shop and took a look at my car immediately. Honda in Bishop did NOT seal the fluid replacement plugs properly OR PROBABLY WORSE. These guys are top of the line men! I travel with my precious Susie through the mountain pass several days a week! Thank God for decent people at Chevron in Mammoth Lakes because the pass down to Bishop and up to Mammoth would have killed the car totally without proper fluids and left my child and I stranded on the road. My daughter is working in Mammoth and the battery to her Subaru died. She had it jumped and the car started but the check engine and other lights came on as a result of the battery going completely dead. Rocky checked my daughter's battery and all was good and he reset the computer to get rid of the lights. Our SUV broke down over President's Day and the mechanics at Chevron could not have been more helpful or accommodating even though they were extremely busy. The car literally died as we pulled in and Jose came out immediately and got it going again enough to get it up on the hoist. Our brand new radiator that had been installed earlier that week by another shop failed. They spent several hours running diagnostics and even let us hang out in the garage to stay warm while they figured out the extent of the issue. They recommended having the car towed back to our shop in LA so they can remedy the situation, texted us several tow shops they recommend, and are letting us keep the car there until it gets picked up. While the situation put a major damper on our weekend, their service and kindness made it so much easier. Highly recommend! Thank you Jose, Ryan, Carl, and Rocky! read more
