HORRIBLE. I am a AAA member and the service sent us assistance from a Mr. K tow driver after we lost a tire chain and got stuck on an icy road. We requested a tow take us to a nearby gas station (covered by my membership). We were advised via phone and text that a tow truck would arrive at 10:30 am. After calling AAA Roadside Services multiple times (between 11 and 11:30 AM) to report that the tow truck had not shown up, the truck arrived at 12:15 (3 hours after the initial call and over 1.5 hours after the arranged time). The driver declined to tow us to a gas station! He never exited his truck. After we got neighbors to tow us partially out of the way of a driveway, the tow driver told us to leave the car where it was and "hoped we had a ride home." He did not offer us a ride. After waiting for help for 3 hours, we walked back to our condo, in the snow, for 2 miles. Do not rely on these guys! read more

My electric car ran out of juice in the evening on a rural highway. Kris from Mr K automotive was so attentive and patient with the whole scenario. We could tell our stupidity bothered him (totally understandable, we were boneheads) when we gave him the initial call referred to us by AAA. But he was very pleasant and very helpful. We got ourselves turned around and stuck on a crew access only road (off highway 203 by chair 20) in some very soft snow, we could dig down two feet without hitting anything hard. Mammoth mountain crew came by on snowmobiles and told us we were out of luck. One of the drivers from Mr. K showed up on time and wanted to help, he couldn't though. He would have gotten himself in deep as well. He waited for us and negotiated with the crew to have a cat from the mountain come pull us out. He waited with us about 45 minutes for the cat but got an emergency call from the sheriff. The cat from mammoth mountain pulled us out without any problem in the next 20 minutes. I wouldn't say they can or will rescue you unless there is paved road near you for them to put their truck on, but they were efficient and pleasant and concerned for us despite our brainless mistakes. read more

Got stuck in a snow drift on one of the local back roads, and neither OnStar or AAA were able to help me. I was put in touch with Mr K - and while they were hesitant (rightly so) - they still sent someone to help winch me out. Thirty minutes later, I was unstuck and on my way. Considering the challenge, I can't complain about the cost for the service. Friendly and quick auto tech, and a lifesaver that prevented me from being stuck in the woods. In case you you travel to mammoth lakes and it is snowing please be ready to have a great time. If something goes wrong with your car or truck ,most of the time it is due to poor planning (not listening to Caltrans or CHP warnings,no chains or not learning how to use them, SPEEDING, and Diesel trucks not getting additives to Prevent gelling and Old batteries). If you need to call AAA and they tell you they running a 999 that means the tow truck drivers will get to when you when they can. During heavy snow you may have to wait several hours in freezing temperatures as the tow truck drivers are very busy helping a lot of people. Finally the tow truck driver calls you to let you know he is on the way to help you. You're cold and are not happy due to the long wait. You take it out on the driver, yell at him or write a bad review on yelp. Please remember you're not the only ones who need help. On an average stormy weekend the tow truck drivers are doing 75 calls a day. The drivers are working on very little sleep, they don't get a meal break and are missing their families. The drivers are cold, wet and tired. Working outside in blizzard conditions is not fun. Please don't get mad at the tow truck driver. Be understanding of what they are going through. Thank the Mr. K Driver for helping. Remember, when the tow truck driver is finished helping you he is off to help someone else. read more

Worst 24 hour towing service ever! We were stranded in a snow bank on a residential street in Mammoth, and the owner of the company refused to send a tow truck because, "the roads were too icy." Meanwhile, truck after truck drove by us as this company refused to assist us. Thankfully Mammoth PD came in their 2x2 crown Victoria, and was able to pull us from the snow, despite how "icy" the road conditions were. Thanks for nothing Mr K Automotive. This company is a joke, run by a careless moron and should pick a location a little more tropical to run his business if he's this afraid of the snow. You're horrible. read more

I used Mr K Automotive to have my car towed after losing my key. The car is newer and has a lot of technology which made it an absolute pain to move. Gabriel helped me troubleshoot for what seemed like forever. He was super patient, friendly and resourceful. Gabriel is seriously like the MacGyver of tow truck providers. Called at 8pm about helping my friend (a single woman) get her Mercedes car that was stuck in snow along the street near The Village at Mammoth. When asked them to go provide a tow, he was totally disinterested, seemed pissed that I was distracting him, and actually asked if I would trying call one of the other towing services in town. When I told him I had tried them, but only got their answering machine, he was more perturbed, and said "I guess I could TRY to get out there, but it will be at least an hour, and I can "assess" the situation." I explained that the owner was a single woman, who was getting scared since it was dark, she was alone, it was cold, and that the car was not stuck in a snow bank, or anything, but simply parked along the street stuck in a rut...which a 5'2" woman was not going to be able to push out of. He had such a bad attitude (which was shocking for a company that is suppose to be in the service industry, and help during times of crisis), I did not trust that I would want him "assisting" a woman by herself. I told him to disregard the request, that I would find another towing service. Which I did, and they joyfully assisted us. Don't trust Mr K during your time of crisis...he'd rather sit home in his warm house watching Wheel of Fortune, than to go out in the cold to help you. read more

While driving near Sherwin Creek, I got stuck in a snow drift while it was 9 degrees. I used my AAA membership and called for a tow truck to come help pull us out. AAA dispatched Mr.K Towing. We received a call stating he would be to our location in 2 hours. He repeatedly lectured me on driving in the snow and questioned why I did not call someone else. 2 hours later, when it was now 5 degrees outside, a Good Samaritan drove by and was able to help pull us out. We called back Mr. K Tow to tell him his services were not needed. He again, began to yell about having to go out in the snow, told us he had not yet put on his snow chains, despite the fact he was already scheduled to be meeting us, and told us he fully expected us to be frozen in our cars when he finally drove out to us after his promised time. Horrible customer service that could have proven to be life threatening! read more

Terrible service!!! They don't give a f*** if you are stranded or not. A few weeks ago, we called AAA for a jumpstart and they never got back to us for an ETA when I called the office, all they could say is we have 15 otherdrivers ahead of you. Really SMH,so we had to stay an extra night near Mammoth all because they would decide when to come out to our aid. Horrible service!!!! Everyone near Bishop was telling us of how horrible reputation Mr K has, and I had to prove that myself. read more

Needed a jump start in a snowstorm. They came, started us up, no hassles. Hard workers on a difficult and busy day.

We were stuck out off the 395 in the snow and called for much needed help but we were told we should be able to get ourselves out because we had 4 wheel drive. Rude, unprofessional. We came back to our truck after backpacking and found we had a flat tire and were caught unprepared without a jack (that's on us). We called this company and were told that the truck couldn't make it onto the trail we were on (about 200m up Laurel Canyon Rd) as it was a 4x4 trail. Fair enough, I totally understand that. However when we asked a few clarifying questions about prices, whether we could limp down the road to meet the truck and if we could simply borrow a jack, the operator abruptly told us that he changed his mind about helping us and that we could call him tomorrow. This occurred around 7pm. He knows he's the only game in town and that we had no other reasonable options (closest towing company is over 2 hours away). Perhaps we caught him on a bad day, however the fact remains that he left us stranded on a deserted road in the middle of nowhere. Thankfully we were lucky enough to run across two very kind gentlemen who, for the price of several beers (as opposed to $270), lent us their jack and after 15 minutes we were on our way. Kudos to Larry and Ron, you guys are awesome. read more
