We got stuck in this slurry of water/mud. Before you go judging, we had driven through 20 other pools of water and we didn't even know this was as big of a pond as it was. Regardless, we got stuck at 2 in the morning. We called Kevin. He very pleasantly answered and the phone. He responded in a very timely manner and he rescued us, from a dirt road off Green Church. We had limited service and he knew exactly how to find us! Talk about impressed. I will use him for my emergency towing needs from now on! I want to note, I have AAA roadside and didn't even consider calling them because they are based out of Bishop and I doubt they would have had the ability to handle an off road recovery. As you can see from the pics, our tires were almost covered, to give you an idea of how deep the sludge was. I was camping in the forest and thought I'd do just fine turning around my 1-ton van, the "Green Queen" in the forest. I thought the ground was firm enough with all the pine needles and forest debris. Well, as I was leaving camp, it wasn't fine as I realized I was starting to dig into the forest floor. I jumped out, looked at the back left tire and sure enough, I was stuck! I called a friend to help me and we dug for hours and tried putting levelers beneath the back left tire. That didn't help as the tire was spinning over the levelers. Sigh. The next day, my friend, Robert, called "Call Kevin's Towing". Who would show up but the friendliest, kindest, most helpful guy anyone could wish for, Patrick. Patrick had me out of that forest within 15 minutes! What a life saver! If your car is stuck make sure you call him!!!!! My car was stuck in Mammoth Scenic Loop (1 mile from the highway) because of snow storm. The police saved us the night before but we had to leave our car there. The next day we tried an "official recommended" towing company in town and they also claimed they are the only towing company in town. They drove a Wrangler and once they saw the entrance of the scenic loop, they gave up immediately, not even tried touching the edge of the snow. But still charged us $$$. I was nearly desperate but CHP told me that road was their lowest priority to clean up the snow. The hotel front desk shared with me Kevin's business card. I texted him immediately and he called back soon and began saving our car - it was like 5pm already but he totally understood our desperate mood. Kevin has a huge truck with strong power. And apparently he had lots experience that knew how to pull our car out from the deep snow and gave us lots of instructions. We spent half hour in the snow and our car was back on the highway!! Last May I got my Honda CRV VERY stuck outside of Mammoth during mud season. Luckily (for me) I wasn't the only one stuck in the area and Kevin was on his way already to help a Tundra out of an even trickier predicament. I was immediately impressed by his pleasant demeanor, as this has not been the case with most drivers I've dealt with, not to mention he was dealing with quite a challenging job. I visited Mammoth on a vacation with my family on a rental Yukon when I got stuck in deep snow while trying to navigate out of a trail at night. AAA wasn't able to help because I was not on the main road but on a trail. Fortunately, I found Kevin's page and asked if he was able to help. I broke down in the middle of the night and called Kevin who picked up his phone and sleepily stated "it's 1:00 am!" When I politely explained what happened he stated "that awesome!" Then he hung up on me. So I have time to write this review while I wait for the sweet man from MAMMOTH CABS to come to my rescue. Reply: We did call you back last night from my boyfriends number and you didn't pick up. You did not attempt to call us back to actually help us last night, however.... You have texted and called two phones, first from your "business" number, then when you didn't get through, you continued calling from a blocked number. All of these calls and texts started at 4:30am. The only goal was to be confrontational with us about this review. Kevin, you've called my phone 6 times and my boyfriends phone twice. You've also texted us a total of 7 times. Both forms of communication were only used to harass me and my boyfriend for this review, calling me a "little bitch" and calling him a "dumbass" for running out of gas, ending the call with "fuck off". You have been unprofessional and confrontational from the first call, talking down to us with every interaction. Starting with, "You weren't broken down, you were out of gas." We ended up calling the Mammoth police to ask for assistance this morning. Mammoth police were well aware of Kevin and his antics and informed us that there is really only one legitimate tow company up here. They stated, "this is just a guy who doesn't actually have a tow truck, operating out of his house. He basically charges people to pull them out of ditches when they get stuck." The only reason I'm continuing this review (as it will inevitably create more harassment), is to try to give you a warning about this clearly unstable individual calling himself a tow company. While it was dumb of us to run out of gas, we had two children in the car with the temperature quickly dropping internally to the external temp of last nights 18 degrees at 1am.
