First off, don't bother calling or going to any other auto repair shops before you see Jorge! He may not answer the phone so if you are able to physically go to the shop, do it, you won't be disappointed. Not only is he friendly and willing to help everyone but he is super knowledgeable! I was at the end of a 2,000+ mile road trip with my family heading back to Orange County when my engine started making loud noises and losing power as we went through Lee Vining at midnight. We limped into mammoth going 25mph and I immediately started driving to auto repair shops in the morning. Thankfully my truck could still drive although it was super loud and I was only going 20-25mph. I didn't know what was wrong so I needed someone to listen and find out the issue. After 4 different places turned me away, without even attempting to at least listen to my truck, I pulled into Figueroa Auto. It was super busy and I immediately thought there was no way I was gonna get helped but Jorge told me to sit tight and 10min later he came over and within minutes said he knew what the issue likely was. I asked if he could fix it that day because it was a Friday, we had no place to stay and there was a bluegrass festival in town and finding lodging on same day was insane. He said he would do his best and boy did he come through!! Not only did he fit me into his crazy schedule, he had to go down the road to his friend to help weld the part that broke!! He had it completely repaired by 4pm so that we could be in our way and make it home by that night. To top it off, he charged me way less than what I was expecting to pay for a fast emergency repair!! I can't say enough good things about finding an honest, friendly and knowledgeable repair shop. Drove from LA to Mammoth and noticed by temperature gauge was fluctuating between normal and hot. I tried various places, all were too busy, I stopped by Figueroa's and asked if had time to look at my 2017 Jeep Wrangler. I told me they were extremely busy but asked what issue I was having. I told him I thought it was my thermostat but that I had it replaced 2,000 miles ago, previous one lasted 8,000 miles. He said if I had my mechanic replace it, then it was probably replaced with an aftermarket part and that would be the problem. Jorge told me he would do it, but I'd have to leave the Jeep and it would be finished by 6:00. The Jeep was finished on time and I was expecting to pay a premium price. I was out the door $238 later, honestly was expecting a much higher price, he knew I was in a bind. Great experience and a good guy. read more

We were coming home from a Lake Tahoe vacation when our Jeep's temperature gauge ran hot. I started calling gas stations in Mammoth and was originally told to continue driving to Bishop because there was nobody there that would be able to help us for at least one week. For safety reasons we decided to stop at another gas station and see if they could help which was located in Mammoth. We were there for three hours basically wasting our time then they told us that we needed a thermostat and a cap for the radiator. He said he didn't know if he could get the part because it was too late in the day by this time. While he fumbled through wasting our time, I started calling other mechanics. I called Figueroa's mechanic shop and spoke to Jorge directly. He quickly told me to get my vehicle to him ASAP and confirm that he could get the part and to start driving over there immediately. We quickly paid the other Mechanic for his time and drove over to Figueroa mechanic shop. Not only was he very helpful. He actually gave me a price over the phone which was fair and reasonable, especially for being in Mammoth. Jorge finished our car as promised and we were on our way home the same day and the vehicle ran great all the way home I cannot thank him and his crew enough for helping us out. So me and my friends went to the chevron down the street they basically gave us unsure answers to our questions. We went to this guy because our cars engine was mis firing and obviously we came out for a nice vacation to the mountain. We were stressing out about if we were gonna even be able to make it home on time. The second we came to this shop the owner was the most kind guy to meet. Fixed our car perfectly made it home fine with no problems and he gave us a great price. Super kind guy and does an amazing job. I never write Yelp reviews, but the experience with Jorge at Figueroa's was absolutely fantastic. He can be hard to reach, but that is only because he is so busy. Mammoth has very limited options to properly repair a car. I damaged my rear Chevy truck brakes by installing tire chains incorrectly. I was looking at towing my car to Bishop at a high cost, or even leaving the vehicle behind and coming back another time to retrieve the car. Any way you look at it, I would be out a lot of money. Jorge went over and above to source parts and properly fix my truck before I had to leave. He charged a very fair price. I could write pages about the positive experience. Needed emergency auto work while in Mammoth for vacation. Took my car same day, finished in a few hours.

On the way to mammoth, my Subaru WRX clutch went out without any notice. I had it towed to Cheveron in Mammoth but they were two weeks out to even look at my car. I went to Rick's tackle shop to ask if they knew of any mechanics to work on my car and was told Figueroa's Auto work on Subaru's and they can have you out quickly. I had my car towed to Figueroa's and talked to Jorge who said if the dealership had a clutch in stock he could overnight the clutch and install it the next day. I left my car there and he called me a few hours later informing me he ordered the clutch and that it would arrive the next day and that he will start taking apart my transmission to prepare for the new clutch. He got my car out in a day and a half. If you ever have any car problems in Mammoth, I highly recommend you take it here since he has fair pricing and quickly works on your car. Hi Jorge, Thanks again for the excellent help this week! It was great to meet you and share a laugh. All, I was in Mammoth this week and my AC failed on the 6 hour drive up from LA. I stopped at O'Rielly's and purchased the re-charge kit. However, it showed excess pressure. So I needed a shop to check if the reading was correct and if so, evacuate and reset to the correct volume. I dropped of the car in the morning and Jorge had it ready in the afternoon. Awesome service at the right price. Later in the week the Engine light came on. I reset the gas cap as that can set it off. This was not the fix and I needed an OBD tool to see what the trigger was and to reset the indicator. Jorge was able to make the read (Low Antifreeze) and reset the engine light in just a few minutes. We topped off the antifreeze and the problem was resolved. Jorge saved our first ski trip to Mammoth. Bad luck breaking down, great luck finding Jorge. Engine overheated just as we entered town Friday night of a holiday weekend. I drove straight to his shop. He was closed, but luckily was still there and diagnosed a blown water pump. I had two kids and a truck full of weekend fun gear and a dead truck. We loaded into Jorge's truck and he gave us a ride to our condo. Who does that? Amazing. No local part available, but somehow he had an old friend driving in from Reno that got to the parts store 5 minutes before close. Who does that? Jorge's friend apparently. While we had a blast on the ski hill, Jorge fixed the truck and had it ready Sunday night for trip back home. Somehow breaking down barely impacted our weekend and we have Jorge to thank for that. My husband and I came to the sierras for an inexpensive weekend getaway from L.A. Our Jeep ended up breaking down near mono lake and no shop in the area would take our car in. Our camping gear was still up the mountain and there was no way we could wait out here for days. We had our car towed to the nearest town which was 27 miles into mammoth. The truck guy from Chevron Towing in Lee Vining took us around from shop to shop to see who would take us in. Finally we reached out to Figueroa's and Jorge himself answered the phone. He said he would take the car in. He said it may take two weeks but would look at it to let us know. That night we slept in the rental and first thing in the morning Jorge was already on the phone calling us to let us know what seemed to be a quick fix. Him and Don Gilberto had the car ready to go and fixed by 4:30pm!! Not only that, but they had test drove it and we were ready to go. Not even 30min later, after the shop had closed, we drove out of town and our car stopped working from a dead battery. We called AAA, but they couldn't get to us for at least 1.5hrs, even as an elevated request. I texted Jorge and he called me right away. Him and his wife were shopping in Bishop since it was late, but he sent his employee Don Gilberto to us. They were there within 10minutes helping us. They didn't have to, they did it because they cared about us! Two perfect strangers!! They jumped started our car and Jorge himself drove back from Bishop and opened the garage back up only to replace our battery and get this!! They didn't even charge us LABOR!! I know God is everywhere, BUT when I see people doing good simply because they care about another human being, I'm in awe! No one else would have done everything Jorge and Don Gilberto and the patience from Jorge's wife to drive all the way back from Bishop just to help us; No one!! We don't have a lot of money right now...and Jorge didn't know that! He just helped because it is a natural thing for him to do!!! Never an experience you want while 300 miles from "home"... Jorge has got to be the friendliest, straight forward, and truly caring mechanic I've had the pleasure of dealing with. My truck had a radiator issue and was towed to him from Lee Vining. Every other repair shop in town and Bishop said it would be days before they could even touch it but Jorge said bring it over and I'll do my best to fit it in. He was swamped with business but made a point of muti tasking and diagnosing an issue that turned out to be an easy fix. While waiting for the work to be completed, I over heard him with a female customer, telling her that the quote she relieved from another repair shop wasn't accurate and that she really didn't need to replace all that they had told her. Jorge and his crew are the best. We were fresh off an intense few days off road in our 90s land cruiser when our engine began to over heat on us in Mammoth. I read reviews and knew Jorge was the man to help us. He managed to squeeze in diagnosing the problem (a busted radiator hose), get a part and taking care of it in 24 hours. He owns an old Land Cruiser himself so was taking extra pride in fixing up our truck too. His son helped too and also drew a map of some great fishing spots we could visit while the truck was getting fixed up. I wish we lived closer to me in SF so I could always have him work on the car. Returning from a road trip, our alternator died out about 54 miles north on Labor Day. Not a garage open for miles... I phoned them (after calling 10 other places that were closed or closed down for good) and Jorge was so kind, he drove half way from Mammoth to Bishop to retrieve the alternator they drove half way out from Bishop to hand off to him. By the time we got towed to Figueroa's Auto, Jorge was back within 5 minutes. They put in the alternator and we were on our way home within 4 hours of the car dying. I found this place by accident. I had been to three mechanics when my Range Rover air suspension became inactive on a sub zero night in Mammoth lakes. Everyone else told me I would have to tow the car back to Los Angeles ($550) even when I told them that Rover of Santa Monica told me a reset would probably remedy the problem. This shop was the only one with the computer key for the Range Rover who had the know how to solve the problem. He charged me $80 for the work and had us back on the road in 15 minutes. He had the tools and the know how to save a family ski trip, and I cannot say enough about how happy I am that we found him. read more

He waited until my car was towed in from yosemite only to get the parts I needed last minute before the auto shop closed. He closes at 5 but stuck around to make sure my car was working perfectly. My car overheated in yosemite and we had a hell of a time trying to get a tow truck that day. My car got to his shop in the late afternoon the next day, he diagnosed it, got the parts, fixed it and rest drove it 20mins to make sure it was working great.
