I came in just after opening in the morning and it looked like the owner Mike had a busy day lined up. I explained the situation and he said to give him an hour to check it out. He called an hour later saying he fixed the issue and it was good for the trip home. It was a minor issue and quick fix but he could have told me it was tiny unicorns poking holes in the muffler and charged hundreds with me none the wiser. He charged a fair price and it got my family home safe. Nice to know there's honest business owners out there.

I was up in Mammoth for a weekend camping trip when my car started overheating on Saturday afternoon. Being a weekend, almost every shop was limited or completely closed. As I waited for the engine to cool down, I decided to try my luck calling local shops, and Nancy with Mountain Motors was the only one who answered. Even though they were technically closed, she told me that if I could safely drive it the 10 minutes down to their shop, they'd take a look. I filled it with coolant and made it there without issue. It turned out to be a bad radiator. Because it was the weekend, we checked around and realized a replacement part wouldn't arrive until Wednesday. I spent the rest of Saturday and Sunday trying to figure out my options, including checking towing costs to get the car closer to home, which was going to be incredibly expensive even with my AAA. Throughout my initial indecisiveness, Nancy was so patient, helpful, and supportive. It was clear they had my best interests at heart, so I trusted them and decided to leave the vehicle in their hands. Not only did Mike repair the radiator, but he did it in a timely manner and even pointed out a few other maintenance items I should keep an eye on. My biggest issue was logistics, I only had one specific upcoming weekend available to make the trip back up to pick it up, or else it was going to be very difficult for me. They managed to squeeze me into their tight schedule to make it work. To top it all off, when I returned, dropped off my rental car at Mammoth airport, they even offered to pick me up and bring me back to the shop. Overall, Mountain Motors provides unmatched service. HORRIBLE. I am a…read moreAAA member and the service sent us assistance from a Mr. K tow driver after we lost a tire chain and got stuck on an icy road. We requested a tow take us to a nearby gas station (covered by my membership). We were advised via phone and text that a tow truck would arrive at 10:30 am. After calling AAA Roadside Services multiple times (between 11 and 11:30 AM) to report that the tow truck had not shown up, the truck arrived at 12:15 (3 hours after the initial call and over 1.5 hours after the arranged time). The driver declined to tow us to a gas station! He never exited his truck. After we got neighbors to tow us partially out of the way of a driveway, the tow driver told us to leave the car where it was and "hoped we had a ride home." He did not offer us a ride. After waiting for help for 3 hours, we walked back to our condo, in the snow, for 2 miles. Do not rely on these guys!
