My…read more2009 BMW gave me a low coolant warning while I was driving toward the George Washington Parkway and I pulled over into the Exxon station to see if they could put coolant in for me. In the two minutes I stood explaining the problem to Babu--the world's most quietly confident automobile technician--it was clear from the puddle under the car that this wasn't just a low coolant situation. This was a massive coolant leak. It turned out a tube had completely ruptured and the day (not to mention my engine) was saved by having pulled into the station before I got on the highway. I left the car in Babu's capable hands and told him I'd like to have him repair the leak and also do the routine service and recharge the freon as long as I was there. He called the next day with a very reasonable estimate and all the work was done 24 hours later. He even identified a small oil leak I already knew about, and gave the same assessment as my other technician at my last routine service--that it was a small leak, would be hard to repair, and it was a judgment call on my part whether to fix it now or later. I decided to have it taken care of this time, and was grateful to know that two different sets of trained eyes had agreed on the problem and its severity. Long story short: I had a good feeling about Babu when I left the car with him, and an even better feeling after I picked it up!

In giving me the estimate all the extras were rattled off without even mentioning the chief complaint, the shimmy. I paid the $170 oil change, and $50 tire rotation in lieu of the diagnostic fee. The next day I took the car to Clarendon Tire where they did a road pressure balance and resolved the tire pressure sensor for $75. I will never have Anderson Sunoco do any work on our cars. That experience was a disgusting money grab that demonstrated either dishonesty or incompetence.

Recently after eight years, the battery went dead on my wife's car. I took it to BP and they fixed it within four hours at an unbelievably reasonable price. It would've cost me almost the same if I had gone to AutoZone and bought the battery myself and tried not to mess it up (MB code resets etc.)...most importantly they did it same day so we had the car back by 5:30 PM. The water pump had also been replaced by them only a few months earlier. They kept the car for about three days and charged me approximately $1,500 to fix the leaks. The very next day, the car was still leaking. I returned and was told it was just old oil and was advised to drive a few hundred miles. After about 300 miles, a red oil/engine warning light came on. I contacted the shop and was told to add oil and drive the car back. Shortly afterward, the engine seized and the car stopped running. I was then told I needed an engine replacement or rebuild costing approximately $7,000-$10,000. I repeatedly reported the leaks, trusted their diagnosis and followed their advice, yet the problem was never properly resolved. I have receipts, messages, videos, and documentation supporting the timeline. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. I trusted them with my vehicle, and the result was extremely costly and devastating.

But if I had to list best gas station places of all time, this would still edge out all the WaWa's. First, the DONUTS! They have a Boston Cream donut that has the best filling ever and it is packed to the brim with the filling and it is the most amazing donut in existence. And I have yet to find a Boston Creme donut anywhere as fantastic as the one here. How disappointing it is for me when I go to 7-11, excitedly purchase a Boston Creme and stuff it in my face only to find that the filling is not the same or they majorly skimped on it. I wish more places carried the exact same bursting Boston Cremes as this Exxon did. These donuts are HEAVEN. Coffee Bar: their coffee bar is like most 7-11 coffee bars, cheap and with lots of different varieties to choose from. They have cinnamon too which puts it over WaWa's coffee bar. For some reason, WaWa's never have cinnamon at the coffee bar to sprinkle on. That is a major bummer. This place also has a large selection of candy, much larger than some of the other convenience stores in the area, trashy CDs and Redskins stuff. They still have Nerds ropes which seem to be disappearing from convenience stores everywhere!
