Authentic Ethiopian cuisine. It's not a fancy restaurant. In fact, it's pleasantly simple. The people are nice, and they seem to know most of their customers. Both times that I went, I got the injera veggie mix platter. It was plenty of food for me, and could have served two. The dishes were good. The injera (bread) was ok, but I have had better. The prices are very reasonable. I have not yet been for breakfast, but I definitely will be trying that next time. I recommend this place. read more

CON ARTIST Restaurant and Rip Off Prices Need to Be Reported. First when you go there peacefully trying to order food with decent prices off the menu in the morning or daytime: They charge you more than what's advertised on the menu. A lot more. And you ask them why are you charging me 5 to 10 dollars more. They say oh they (management) needs to correct the prices on the menu or update the system. In the meantime, no apology and no fix. They expect you to pay and they look at you like you are the Villian. So agreed on the price change. Then while I was waiting; I decided to order a drink for 5.99. I gave the girl 10 dollars. She took the money. I saw 9.52 come across the screen. And she happily turns around and walks off. And I am like hey where's my change. The drink is 5.99. She turns around angrily and says the price is not correct on then menu. So I ask for my money back. I am not going to do this twice. She goes to the back and takes 10 minutes and angrily gives me my 10 dollars back. The hands me my food that I did order with the higher price change. Hands me the food and looks at me like I am the worst piece of trash in the history of the store. They expect you Rip you off and Trick you with these prices. The Nerve to Question them. Always be careful when you order from a store with less than 5 reviews on Yelp!. I got my hand slapped today by ordering food via Uber Eats from this restaurant. My wife (Ethiopian) was sleeping so I figured I would get her some food and surprise her when she woke up. I'm the only one with the surprise. The food was listed as "tender" Lamb Tibbs. Most of the meat is as hard as a rock. Good gracious. Does their Chef taste the food before it leaves the restaurant. Their is no bebere seasoning. It just takes like American food with fried onions and peppers. The only thing that was good was the Chicken samosa. Now. I have to recook the food. I waisted $63 ordering from here. I know not to do that again. They may be good in the restaurant, but their delivery is horrible. Their is no taste to any of the food like they didn't even season it!!! There food is always amazing and one of the best Ethiopian in Silver spring. Authentic Ethiopian spices and fresh ingredients. Oh- am I actually here in this restaurant? Am I here to eat? Or am I here to sit down and use their chairs and table to chat with my mom? It seems like I'm here to just chat inside of their restaurant. Maybe there's some kind of secret code in order to get service? Maybe there's some kind of unspoken known fact, like, this place is really a private club or something...??? What do you think? Because we were ignored for the longest time, not even acknowledge that we had entered into the restaurant! I had to go up to the bar and get my own menu, I had to go back up to the bar in order to ask one of the "waitresses"...."servers" if we could please order. Anyway, I'll skip all the other details (like 1 of the server's daughter playing on the floor with spilled straws and a menu, running up and down pasta tables and periodically pushing the menu around on the floor *hello health hazard*) and just get right to the fact of the food: EXCELLENT!! It's a real shame that the service was so horrible! With all the other Ethiopian restaurants on that very block and within walking distance of here, they really should tighten up their table service! So I was very very disappointed with my recent big order. So I ordered about 12-13 meals from the menu for my family get together on April 25th. I called way ahead like around 10:40-11am for 2 pm pick up. When I arrived, nothing was ready. I mean NOTHING! How does that happen? The girl started giving me one meal at a time which was crazy! Mind you half of that order was vegetarian which means if you know Ethiopian food, it's made in advance so there was no reason for that not to be ready. I am disappointed to say the least. A friend and I ordered two dishes and were happy with one dish but didn't like the second dish of fish, my friend said it didn't taste right and asked for the waitress to take it back. Customarily they were supposed to offer to replace it with another dish or ask us what we would like to do, instead the owner brought "another" fish dish and told us the fish she serves is the best and there was nothing wrong with the food and so on. My friend offered to taste it and if we like it we will keep it, unsurprisingly the taste was the same. Instead of offering us another dish or act with any professionalism we were ignored for almost 30 minutes after that. There was attitude from the waitresses and open hostility. I mean we didn't come to a restaurant at this time especially, to be treated like we committed a crime!!! This is the last time I dine in this restaurant. The service and staff are very accommodating and the prices are very fair for the large portions and excellent quality.
