This venue has multiple theaters. I visited the smaller Frank Shiner theater for Medea: Re-Versed. First of all, Medea was amazing! A Greek tragedy re-worked as a rap battle and chorus. And the writer and one of the stars helped escort us into the theater and said hello and gave us high-fives. The Shiner theater doesn't have a bad seat anywhere, though the side/profile seats aren't ideal (but they boast a reduced price to reflect this). I sat in a premium center front-facing seat, second row. The seats are wide, not a ton of leg room, but okay . . . soft and comfortable. And the thing I like best is it's stadium style, tiered, so no one's head is in your way. Sheen Center has other theaters showing concerts, plays. They have classrooms. There is also a gallery space on one of the upper floors. Bathrooms on each floor, all clean. Staff all attentive and helpful. Elevator easy to access. Great off-Broadway arts space on the Lower East Side. Looking forward to seeing other productions here.

nice small theater so every seat is a good seat. We got tkts to upstairs, it was 1st come m grab yr seat. So get there early go get good seats if you have upstairs tkts. We saw sleeping beauty. The custumes are so nice.

So you know we were there.

Beautiful space for small concerts and plays. The cheaper seats were the balcony and seating was first come first serve for the Candlelight event. I think these seats were the best TBH. Got to see everything at a bird's eye view. We went to the Bollywood and Tollywood orchestra concert. It was performed by The Highline Quartet. They were awesome. We had some annoying people sitting behind us who didn't follow instructions and used flash photography as well as the two people next to us to our right who took videos of the opening acts. There were clear instructions they were present for that explained photography and videos were prohibited until the final songs of the evening and the performers would let us know when. Happy experiences!

Sheen Center is a small theater but it just makes everything more homey like they are performing for you. There is a small stage, a first floor and a balcony. Everyone is so very nice. There is a concession stand and they offer food for purchase before the show and you can bring it into the theatre and enjoy while watching the performance. I went to see the Electronic Swan Lake. The ballerina costumes are lit up in lights so as they dance they shimmer from the lights and not necessarily from the fabric of their costumes. The cast was not as experienced as the Lincoln Center ballets but they try and this lets them practice their skills to maybe reach the spot light one day. This is not as big as Lincoln Center or as professional as Lincoln Center but more like a home town experience which I find perfectly great. Thank You everyone for the wonderful performances.

B sections at the Sheen Center.

Had a great time in the B section. However, next time I'll sit closer to the stage to avoid picture taking folks flashing their light and loudly humming along to the music ( no one came to see you Otis!) All in all the artist were fabulous, their cover of popular music was spot on. Great venue, just don't sit near the side door if you are light sensitive like me and annoyed very easily. They kept opening the door which shinned a whole lot of light into a candle lit auditorium and threw off the ambiance. But these are things to check off next time I visit the Sheen Center. Just wanted to add, they allow you take video & pictures during the last performance.

The Sheen Center is a lovely, CLEAN space for intimate performances. Tonight, I attended Savor Your Senses featuring the amazing Elaine Kwon & Friends. I also attended a Fringe Festival opera in the same space last year, but don't recall if it was Sheen, yet.

Here for the Justice Film Festival. The building is beautiful. Sound system could be better. I couldn't hear the guest speakers too well.

SARAH, the security guard is a predator!!!!…read more I went to House of Yes last night for Futch, a lesbian dance party. I been a couple times before and met Sarah there. She was always so friendly and flirty with me. Last night I came with my new partner. As soon as we walked in, she was standing nearby and she looked angry seeing us together. The rest of the night, all I could feel were her eyes on me from afar. At one point, she passed by me and secretly caressed my ass. I felt very uncomfortable and asked my partner if we could leave right after. I didn't feel safe asking for a manager to report her as she's already a supervisor security there. This is supposed to be a safe space and I DID NOT FEEL SAFE!!! Apparently from another person there, she gets "around" with girls there and even denied someone entry because they were no longer together. I would think she would be more respectful and keep it professional. I DID NOT CONSENT FOR HER TOUCHING ME LAST NIGHT!!! It's gross to think this is their employer. I will no longer be going back and neither will some of my other friends. It sucks, I really loved that party.

Looking for a unique night out? Get tickets to The Moth instantly. No really, they run out in five…read moreminutes, get on that. The Moth is a storytellers event that occurs at different places, and the one I went to was at Housing Works Bookstore and Cafe, which was the perfect venue. It started at 7:30 and ended at 9:30, there's no drink minimum, you can bring your own food, and tickets are cheap, but hard to get. It's essentially a show where people who'd previously entered their names get picked to tell stories in under five minutes. Anyone can do it, and anything can be said. There were funny ones, sad ones, dramatic ones, silly ones, overall twelve performances along with a host who introduces each one. They also sell drinks and snacks there, which goes to a great cause. Whether you're looking for something New Yorky, cheap, chill, cute, or thought-provoking, The Moth will satisfy.

Going to a Story Slam hosted by The Moth is actually one of my favorite things to do in the city…read more The story slams happen 4-6 times a month at various locations around Manhattan and Brooklyn (see the website for schedule). Each slam has a different theme. If you feel that you have a worthy 5-min story, you can put your name in the bag, where they draw out names. Ten storytellers go up and these stories are judged by three teams of judges from the audience. The winner of the slam goes on to the Quarterly GrandSLAM Championship. It lasts about 2.5 hrs and costs $8. I've gone to a couple of these at the Housing Works and I'm always really impressed by the quality and talent of most of the storytellers. Many of them take this quite seriously and you can tell that they spent time crafting their story and delivery. The best stories aren't the ones that are merely funny, but they're poignant, send you on an emotional roller coaster of highs and lows, and leave you with a message and something to think about. There's a certain raw honesty and catharsis that comes through and the audience is always supportive, especially so for the new storytellers who stand up there alone and vulnerable. Indeed, if the audience feels the judges are too harsh, the audience lets the judges know. At the Story Slam at Housing Works, the doors open at 7 pm (stories start at 7:30). There are limited seats, so if you're dead set on sitting, stand in line by 5:30. There are plenty places to stand and get a good view as Housing Works' second floor is a mezzanine. Recently I got to the line by 6:30 and easily found a comfortable spot to stand and watch (wear comfortable shoes!). The ticket sales of the Story Slam goes directly to The Moth. Housing Works, which is a wonderful organization that helps people with HIV/AIDS, sells alcohol and snacks, so you're giving to a great cause by drinking.

I was paired with a small group of out of town visitors who brought their family to NYC and wanted them to experience the Accomplice. The parents of the family group were repeat guests like myself who like me absolutely enjoyed their experience several years prior and wanted to share it with their family. It's NYC so even when you participate in the live experience it may seem awkward that an actor is making a scene (literally) on the streets of NYC but nobody bats an eye cause weirdness can feel normal on the streets of Manhattan. Accomplice still has the typical tour around the small area of the city where you interact with amazing actors and make your way to the grand finally where you share a simple drink with your group to celebrate your accomplishment. The staff do offer a hotline to get clues if you are stuck but thankfully my group was witty enough to figure out our way through our adventure. Accomplice is also great for corporate team building activities. I've raved about this experience at my office for years and one of my teams decided to book with the show. Not only did my office team have an amazing time but buzz is going around the office about this show that another team was considering booking but business guests thought it would be too cold in November for such an event; such party poopers! LOL! Corporate events include a three course meal and tons of fun! Highly recommend for both tourists and corporate team building events.

Each show is choreographed by someone employed by XIV. This is unique and you won't see it anywhere else (anyone old enough to remember the mass produced cheer routines from Bring it On?) This is truly a welcoming space, everyone can come here and be themselves. The bodies are lithe, svelte, glistening, beautiful. The acrobatics can't be matched. I am always astounded at the beauty of the erotic ballet numbers. I think those are my favorite part. The deep, soulful vocals of the diva singers can't be forgotten either. I think I've said before, I've done the couples couches and the small chairs along the stage. The small chairs are a better value and really a better view for most things, unless something is from the ceiling behind you. You can also upgrade with things like champagne and cocktails. But overall, if you get one of the small stage seats, a very affordable night out. And you can kill some time across the street at JukeBar (reviewed separately).

This play is about a universal theme of love, sex and relationships. If you are looking for love,…read moreand who isn't, this show will speak to you. For me, everything in this comedic play seemed all too familiar..during the show, I kept on thinking, OMG I think I found bits and pieces of myself in all the women characters...which makes me ask myself, am I crazy?!!!??? I'm okay with that....because MEN ARE A**HOLES. One of the actors when introducing the play in the beginning and after the intermission was making the audience chant..he would say Women are crazy because men are........and the audience, made up of mostly females said......A**HOLES!!!!!!! It felt therapeutic to shout it out loud! I was really getting into it...I looked at my boyfriend and he was making a frowny face. ahahha. I was trying to get him to chant A**HOLES too but he wouldn't bite. He said men are a**holes because they used to be hunters...okay. ahahhahah. That's why I love him! He's my hunter, now go hunt! This play reminds me of the book, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. The play is set at one of the character's home, Nicole is throwing a soiree to celebrate meeting her internet fling for the first time, at this soiree!! Nicole invited her whole entire family to meet this internet fling that she herself never met...WHO DOES THIS??!! Nicole's family consisted of her sister and her BF, her brother and his GF, and her best friend and her BF. There was another couple that were supposed to be at the soiree but never showed up. All these couples are all having dysfunctional relationships, which makes for a funny play. This play takes a look into human nature, human relationships and human behavior. Sometimes the play may seem over the top, overly dramatic and highly passionate to get some laughter from us, but I recognize the characters all to well!! I know people just like the characters on stage in this play. I definitely have seen some of the characteristics even in myself. I felt ashamed at times...but laughed at myself! The comic timing in this show is awesome. My favorite couple is Hillary and George who never even made it to the soiree! I was laughing through the whole show. Even coming back from the intermission was fun! Be forewarned, women are going to be portrayed as psychotic beings, men are going to be portrayed as insensitive liars and we all need each other in unhealthy ways. But at the end it's all for laughs and for fun which this play definitely accomplishes...I would highly recommend this entertaining show for any adult who has been through dating or relationship angsts. This show is definitely Rated R for RAUNCHY! See it if you want to laugh your A** off! Last day of show is June 21, HURRY!
