The San Gennaro Festival stretches across Mulberry St. in lower Manhattan. It kicked off on Sept. 11th and continues the next 11 days. The food was great. So was the variety. I have baked clams from Umberto's Clam Bar. Pork Braciole, Rice Balls from Lucy's and an Aperol Spritz. The vendors were nice. So were the people in the crowd. I've been going to the feast since I was a little kid. This was the 100th anniversary of the festival. It was bigger and better than ever. I had a wonderful time.

My review is from 9/12/25 The 2025 Feast of San Gennaro was an absolute masterpiece of food, culture, and community spirit. It's a joyful, must-do experience that perfectly captures the heart of Little Italy. From the moment you hit Mulberry Street, the air is thick with the mouthwatering aromas of sausage and peppers, fried dough, and simmering sauces. The vendors served up delicious classics that were well worth the wait. My personal favorites includes fried rice ball from Lucy's and a show-stopping pasta from the giant Parmesan wheel. And of course, no trip is complete without a fresh, creamy cannoli from Ferrara's bakery. Beyond the incredible food, the atmosphere was electric. Live Italian music, the joyful grand ferris wheel is a reminder to not forget this yearly celebration, and the lively crowds all contributed to a celebratory energy that was simply infectious. It's a festival where everyone feels a little bit Italian. This year's celebration felt bigger and better than ever. If you're looking for a genuinely fun and memorable New York experience, this is it. Come hungry, bring cash, and prepare to have an unforgettable time. These are the Italian treats I enjoy: Arancini: deep fried rice balls. Parmagiana: Sandwiches featuring meatballs, chicken, or eggplants covered in parmigiana sauce, and lasagna. The deserts that are really delicious are Zeppole's which are Deep-fried dough balls, a classic carnival treat originating from Italy's Campania region. Cannoli's fried pastry shell filled with sweet ricotta cream. Torrone is a traditional nougat candy. Italian cookies, and pastries including biscotti, and rainbow cookies from vendors like Ferrara bakery. Tip: Do not expect plant based sausage, or vegan food. When I do will update.

Personally been going over a decade and it never gets old to me a tradition of enjoying local businesses eateries supporting the local economy, buying trinkets food palm readings if you'd like and enjoying what little Italy has to offer Parking is tricky. Best pay for a lot and you should do research what's the latest and greatest thing you can get I specifically did enjoy as always my stuffed clams. Your Pepe pasta was good too, and let's see what next year has to offer because I can't wait.

The Feast of San Gennaro held traditionally every September in Lower East Side New York City, attracts about one million people every year. It's a great celebration of the rich Italian food and culture. The food is outstanding but the lines are stifling. Over a hundred vendors , restaurants, and side walk cafes are serving authentic pasta, sausage and peppers, baked clams, zeppoles, cannolis, and gelato. There is also a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. It's tight out there! It is packed with tourists and extremely hard to move freely down Mulberry Street. I suggest you attend a week night because the traditional narrow Streets of Little Italy makes it extremely difficult to move around with one million people in attendance. Four stars because it is hard to move around, you are shoulder to shoulder on Mulberry Street, but It is worth the trip for the cultural experience.

How to get to the Feast. September 15-25, 2016

San Gennaro Feast is an event I look forward to every year. Last year was the one year I missed it because I didn't feel well during most of September. I certainly made up for it today September 12, 2024. If you're not into Italian food there's plenty of other options. I always get my Traditional Cannoli at La Bella Ferrara and eat it before I walk through the feast on Mulberry Street. If you plan to visit Manhattan I recommend you visit Little Italy during the feast. This year it is September 12 through the 22. Bring your appetite!

It's been over a decade since I've been to the feast. I would go in my early 20s with my group of girlfriends and we'd try to eat everything in sight. We'd stop at every stall to grab food; stopping for orders of fried calamari, pizza, rice, balls, and everything else in between. I remember going just to go and not really enjoying what the feast actually was. The food used to be mediocre at most and we would just look forward to parking at one of the Italian restaurants in Little Italy, having a feast of our own. FastFast forward to my late 30s where now this feast takes on a whole new meaning. Where going by myself to the San Gennaro Feast has given me a whole new experience. Recent commitments brought me to the LES and given the timing I knew this was the perfect opportunity to go to a feast. I knew it would also be the perfect time to go because on a Tuesday in the afternoon it wouldn't be as crazy crowded as it can get. And as crowded as it was, I know it could be 10 times worse, but I was able to navigate pretty easily. Now something that struck me was the quality of the food and vendors that were at the feast. Everything I had was outrageous. Starting with the slice of pizza with burrata, prosciutto and arugula which was one of the best places I've had in a long time. Pasta made in the cheese wheel was everything you could ask for and more, while my Sicilian rice ball was hearty. And to top it all off the two mini cannolis. I got one strawberry one pistachio and we ended the night on a sweet note. Overall, I think the food, the vendors, and overall the vibe of the feast has actually only gotten better over the years. This warms my heart looking forward to going next year.

I can't begin to comprehend how it's possible to sell "rice balls with ragù" and call them arancini when it's just an overcooked ball of rice that has been split open and some bad ragù thrown on top. And to sell them for $10 each? Bad. Most of the foods you'll find at the San Gennaro feast are not prepared the way we would in Italy, but fear not, they grill meat the way we would! This sandwich (in the picture) was so good I miss it already. Try sandwiches with meat, salsiccia (Italian sausage), or something else. You'll love them! And then visit the gelato stand of Figo, they have natural flavored gelatos and pretty great desserts. Stop the fried Oreo crap

Great Festival! Celebrated the publication of https://www.heywhosbetterthanyou.com/ a book I authored at the great LaMela Ristorante 167 Mulberry Street. Great food, great atmosphere! Everyone celebrates the Italian culture. If you are anywhere near NYC make sure you get there as it extends from Sept. 12-22.

Haven't been here in ages... Came here opening day and yes crowded as always. Come here early to avoid the crowds. The feast has grown to several blocks. Easy to get here by train...and walk. Traffic and parking around the area is not the easiest. Lots to see and do. Note: Some of the vendors are cash only and others will take credit cards. Bring cash with you... to check it out. Must walk around for comparing prices..zeppoles $5 for 6 at some vendors. Prices have gone up over the years... Play the 'carnival' like games and win a prize... or spending your money elsewhere... but have fun, eat, drink and shop. And stay safe!

Had a goog rime here being my first time. Saw alot of places I wanted to eat from but didn't. It's a must go to when it comes around

A summer treat! A host of italian street food vendors, delivering favs such as sausage and peppers, shish kebabs., zeppoles. Pastries. Gelato. Italian baked goods! My fav were the cheese wheel pasta and they even have tanghulu! Gets very crowded on the weekend but you can also dine at any of the exquisite restaurants along the street. Fun for families, foodies, friends!

Address of Zia Maria Little Italy. Rude employees. Do NOT recommend this restaurant

I was trying to take a picture of the Lucy's Sausage lighted sign with the arrow. This man who works at Zia Maria came up to me and yelled at me for no reason. He yelled at me saying " THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO TAKE PICTURES ! NOW LEAVE ! GO ! " He was so nasty , rude and condescending. This was the worse experience at San Gennaro Feast . I would give negative stars if there was a choice.

Love their commitment to not canceling an event but would have loved if there was a rain date rather than rain or shine, and 3. I wish they let you buy individual tickets (not in increments of 5). Yes it was rainy and yes it was crowded (c'mon, it's times square after all) but still worth the trip on a work night into the city for a good time with friends and good eats (Lolz @ my friend holding my umbrella while I scarfed down food). They sell in increments of 5, so I got 10 tickets for $10 which is what they advertised for and later went back for another 5 tickets. Most foods cost between 2-3 tickets each... to me, 10 was too few tickets and 15 was too much (thus why I would have liked to buy 10 and then get single tickets from there). If you really want to make the trip worthwhile and sample enough, go for 15. Restaurant vendors I sampled from: 1. Patzeria Perfect Pizza - Tortellini with prosciuutto in the sauce (3 tickets) 2. Schnipper's - Mac 'n Joe (3 tickets) 3. Carmine's - meatball (2 tickets) 4. The View - Swiss chard Ravioli with truffle sauce (3 tickets) 5. Crossroads - Pretzel with "gooey cheese" (3 tickets) 6. Bubba Gump Shrimp - Birthday cake dessert (1 ticket) Of all of them, I was most excited for the ravioli based on presentation but somehow ended up being my least favorite... too creamy (though I'd still want to visit that restaurant as it looks gorgeous, just would order something else). My friend and I thought the mac n joe was amazing (mac n cheese with sloppy joe) and that the pretzel w/ cheese was a great snack (mmm warm pretzel). Tortellini is one of my favorite foods in general so knew I'd like that especially with that sauce. Glad I got to finally try Carmine's- I've never made it there due to it being pricey but at least this event let me have a sample for a grand total of only 2 tickets! Hope to return next year, on a sunnier day!!

The place was jam packed and I was supposed to meet some friends and was never ever to catch up with them. It's best to get their early because it was so crowded we could hardly walk in the narrow street to check out what each vendor had to offer. Since I didn't wait to catch up with my friends I just checked out the longest lines and figured the samples had to be good. I was able to sample some tacos, chicken wings, sliders and water for $15. The food was good but hard to manipulate and eat with the crowds. I wound up standing in a corner to eat my food or sitting on the sidewalk to devour my chicken wings. There were different areas of live entertainment and New Yorkers and tourists seemed to be having a great time. Next time I will come prepared and wear a small bag and get there early to check out more vendors and get more food items..

Macarons! Baguettes! Crepes!…read more I have attended this street festival honoring Bastille Day here in NYC for many years now. The food is always terrific. The weather was sunny and beautiful out. The macarons were amazing as always. And, as always, the crowd was overbearing and annoying. Whoa! Talk about inconsiderate tourists who don't understand how to move aside or what personal space is! This street fair is always packed, and if you are the type that can't stand crowds this is not the place for you. You literally have to fight and push aside people to get from one food stand to the other. Too many people gawking at everything and taking pictures, blocking your way, but not buying anything. For the love of God, would people with kids in baby carriages please stop coming to these festivals? All they do is block up the pathways strolling along at a snails pace, or running into the back of your ankles with these over-sized rolling baby cribs. Take it onto the sidewalks already people. The rest of us would like to get by. Stop insisting on shoving your kids down our throats! Now that my rant is over, I can say I did enjoy the festival for the most part. Live music, waiter race contests, and yummy food. The crepes were awesome - I had a banana and nutella which I scarfed down instantly. Also had a steak sandwich from Bistro Chat Noir that for only $6 was a great deal, and along with a beet salad for $4 made for a nice lunch. Had the most amazing macarons from Macaron Cafe. There was a little bit of everything French here. Baquette stands, macarons, desserts and pastries, crepes, sandwiches, drinks, you name it. If you are willing to fight through the crowd and be patient you can sample some wonderful foods. Spent a few hours there and then bailed out. All in all, it is a decent festival to go to for a few hours on a nice day, sample some tasty treats, but not to spend that much more time there. Many more options on a weekend day in the city away from annoying touristy crowds.

And yes, there were plenty of fine French Pastries!! Crepes looked so delicious. To me the portion sizes were reasonably priced at most of the stands. Some high end names had stands with their usual offerings. They were overpriced as usual. I was really tempted on several occasions. I already had my carbs for the day. No food for me this year. A couple free samples filled me up. The only place I had trouble navigating the crowd was by the stage. Other than that area you could get around pretty easy. Later today it may be thick with people. If you go later good luck!! As for me, I'll be back next year to tie on the feed bag. I'm bringing lots of money and an appetite. :-)
