I found the car I wanted to buy specifically at Sheehy Ford in Richmond Virginia and so I made contact with James Vance and Stockton. I filled out the credit application and was approved for the 2026 Mustang GT Premium. I flew in from out of state (California) and James actually picked me up from the airport early the next morning. We went straight to the dealership where I made my purchase. I'm taking the time to write this review because from the moment I began this journey with James and Stockton, it was the "absolute" best customer service that I've ever received. These guys were amazing and I must add that the entire staff there was great. I'm a 60 year old man who pays close attention to the way I'm treated especially when I'm about to spend my hard earned money. I have nothing but great things to say about these guys (James and Stockton) along with the entire staff there at Sheehy Ford of Richmond Virginia as the entire atmosphere was warm, professional and inviting. I'd definitely recommend to anyone considering buying a Ford to come here where you won't get pressured but you will be treated the absolute best by James, Stockton and the entire team there at Sheehy Ford of Richmond Virginia. I've always expected better from Sheehy, but this recent experience was really disappointing. They picked up my truck using their valet service, which I thought was a great convenience at first. However, they got it to the dealership first thing in the morning, but I was told at around 5pm when I was supposed to have it back they didn't have the parts in stock. That's fine -- it happens -- but instead of letting me know so I could get the car back and use it until they had the parts, they kept my vehicle sitting there for a full day doing nothing. This is both my work and personal vehicle, so that lack of communication really put me in a bind. When I finally got the truck back over two days later, the driver dropped it off with only 4 miles of gas left until empty. I don't expect anyone to fill up my tank, but come on -- at least add a couple ounces of gas so the customer can make it to a station safely. I barely made it there, pulling in with 1 mile to go and the truck sputtering. Who thinks that's acceptable service? My company paid a lot of money for new tires and a full 40k service. After spending that kind of money, I shouldn't have to worry about running out of gas right after getting my vehicle back. This experience really made me lose a lot of respect for Sheehy. read more

They do Bait and Switch on their prices and call it "computer" errors even though its their Ford site with prices. They only show incorrect prices for vehicles on "sister" lots and then either say they are "unavailable" or mistakenly listed. The also try to sell DEMO trucks as new. STAY AWAY! read more

I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before going to this dealer. From day one, everything was handled the wrong way. They rush you through signing a bunch of documents on a screen and only care about getting your signature--not about explaining what you're actually being charged for. Big mistake: do not accept your paperwork on a USB drive. Demand printed copies so you can clearly see the charges. Once you sign, their attitude completely changes. Calls go unanswered, and they suddenly have no interest in helping you. The salesperson and finance department work together in a way that feels very misleading and dishonest. I even paid out of pocket to have a diagnostic done at another shop, and they still refused to address the issues with the car. It honestly feels like they are just trying to run out the dealer warranty so they don't have to fix anything. Stay away from this dealer. Especially avoid Robbie Childres and the woman who pushes the undercoating and the so-called ceramic coating protection--it's cheap, misleading, and feels like a scam. While I'm thrilled to have my truck back, I'm still facing a few issues with Sheehy Ford and their insurance company. These include the receipt of quarter turn pins in the frunk, and final payments for repairs, diminished value, and out-of-pocket expenses that have been agreed to. Between a low-balling salesman and manager, they pushed me to another Ford dealer in Richmond that treated us with respect and offered fair value for our trade. Maybe if you all were fairer in providing competitive trade in values rather than insulting low-ball offers, you would have had one less Red Explorer ST on your lot! To potential customers, I will warn you that they offer low prices on their cars but try to make it up in offering almost 10k less than actual trade in value! Do your homework before going. Also, they turned down the CarMax trade-in. We pulled a CarMax trade-in offer through their app on the phone to show Sheehy Ford were still too low on their offer. We were told that they would not accept it since it was not actually taken to CarMax. Offered to take it to CarMax. The sales rep went outside to talk to his manager and it looked like they got into a heated discussion over it. He came back and said they would still not accept it. At this point, we decided to walk out. Went to Richmond Ford and Lincoln in which they were respectful to us, accepted the CarMax value, and even beat Sheehy Fords offer on a brand new 2025 Explorer ST. My husband and I have been trying for a couple of weeks to schedule service for our RV. He was told over the phone that your location does not service RVs, even though Camping World referred us to your Ashland site as the closest facility for RV service. Today, we happened to pass by your location and noticed several RVs parked in the lot. This prompted me to call again. I spoke with Ms. Janet, who was professional and courteous. I requested to be transferred to the service department three times. Each time, the call was transferred but not answered -- and on the final attempt, the call was hung up. Ms. Janet kindly apologized and assured me that the service department was open and operating until 4:00 PM today. However, this experience has left us frustrated and confused by the conflicting information and lack of follow-through. This place is horrible! They are rude and unprofessional. They have a horrible sales tactic. They make u wait for hours and never give a price or trade in price. After hours of being ran in circles I stood my ground and said "GOVE ME A FINAL PRICE AFTER TRADE IN" Still no answer, yet a mechanic came onto the sales floor trying to be barbaric and bully me as if he were a coming out of a drunken stupor. We realize they have taken my husband's truck and already moved it w/o any permission or consent. We said we are Leaving this place is unprofessional. I would not recommend this business to anyone. They don't communicate with you regarding your vehicle. I had to reach out to them to get an update. We brought our vehicle in to get our turbo checked out and was then told it was our transmission which would cost $8000 to replace. We took our vehicle to another mechanic and another ford dealership for second opinion and both of them told us our transmission was completely fine. I am very upset with Sheehy. I own a 2018 Mustang GT I bring it to this location because I am TIRED of Ashland Sheehy. Worst customer service there, stole my wheel lock key and admitted it, the technician who did was fired/quit. But I will not get into that right now. I took my car to Midlothian about 3 weeks ago for an oil change, tire rotation and multi point inspection. I was told that my tie rod was "about to snap off" "I don't know how you can drive this" I told them that my car has driven fine besides a small tap that you barely ever heard, only really if it was snowing/icy/cold. It drove straight, no shake, nothing. I questioned how it passed a multi point inspection if it was supposedly "that bad" and clearly had been like that for months? It was brushed off. I could not afford to fix it right then and the man said it would be safe to drive home but nothing more. After leaving my car drove Amazing. No tapping, aligned, etc. I also had supposedly gotten an oil change like scheduled. THEY NEVER PUT OIL BACK IN MY CAR! My oil PSI was at 0-10 and when I checked my dipstick, it was CLEAN. It took 2 jugs of oil to fill my car enough to hit the line on the dipstick! I called and mentioned this to a service representative and I was brushed to the side saying that was not possible. Now something else is wrong! A week later and my oil PSI is dropping 0-10, my dipstick barely has oil on it. There is no leak on the ground but something is not right! Beware of this business, they make you feel like you know nothing (even when you do) and also seem to up charge. Also watched a man try and push a very old lady into up charges in lobby. Telling her she CANNOT buy windshield wipers at other stores cause they don't work and that she NEEDS to change them. She was so confused and clearly being worked over. If Sheehy can find a solution then maybe they will get a better review. If not a corporate call awaits. read more

I had a very simple job - installing a license plate bracket on the front of my car that I bought from Michigan. I got the appointment within one day of calling, the work was done in 35 minutes from arrival and it's professional. the only thing I didn't like was with the part. Customers and future car buyers beware... I dropped my truck off May 6, 2025, prior to the service center opening for routine maintenance, an oil change and a tire rotation. When I completed the work envelope, I also asked them to inspect the back tire on the driver's side. I was concerned because that tire had been losing about 10 pounds of pressure every 2-3 days. They called when the truck was ready, and I headed up there to pick it up. I asked if they had found anything wrong with the tire and I was told everything was fine; there was nothing wrong with it. Fast forward to May 10, 2025, I was alerted by the dash light that my tire was low on pressure again. So, after work I decided to take my truck to Discount tire, basically for a second opinion. I explained to them that I had been at Sheehy four days ago and was assured that nothing was wrong with my tire. The advisor was quick to help. They pulled my truck into the bay and right away noticed a problem. There was a 2-inch-long drill bit embedded in that tire. Of course, they pulled it out, gave it to me, patched my tire, and sent me on my way. For Discount tire near Costco this is a great review, the staff were friendly and kind, but most importantly very helpful. On my way home I stopped at Sheehy and did NOT get the same helpfulness. I showed the Service Advisor the 2-inch drill bit and said that I was annoyed at the fact that just four days ago they did not see the drill bit. Did they even look? My paperwork does not show my concern nor that it was examined. The response that I received from Sheehy's employee, Alan Lathrope, left me in shock. He looked at the drill bit and said, "Wow I'm sorry that IS big, you can make a necklace out of that" and then proceeded to walked away and left me standing there. I couldn't believe his response. No apology or accountability, I left more furious than when I arrived at his lack of concern or responsibility for his technicians. As the weekend progressed, I became more distraught with the idea of what could have happened - what if the tire had blown causing me to have an accident and potentially hurt myself or someone else. Therefore, I went back on Monday, May 12, 2025, to speak to the Director of the service department, Chad Ritenour. He was not immediately available, but the service counter called him to let him know that I would like to speak to him and he said he would be up momentarily. I waited and waited but there was no sign of Mr. Ritenour. I am certain that his time is precious, just as mine is, and I was forced to walk out. All of that to say Sheehy didn't mind taking my hard-earned money when I purchased a brand-new truck from them 2 1/2 years ago, but then they just wash their hands of me. They exhibited such a lack of ethics and do right by the customer. I am appalled. Paid a HEFTY premium, but had little choice as I needed this specific vehicle to meet the specs for adding disability equipment for a disabled relative. Bargained for seat covers as part of the deal. 0 STARS...DO NOT RECOMMEND. Took my vehicle in because all of my brake lights were on. The said it would be $190 to diagnosis. Came back with one thing, added something else and charged me a little over $3100. Paid an Uber to pick it up and pick up my car and behold, all the lights were still on. Never made it out of the parking lot. Was told to leave it again, was sent a video of the code showing I need a module, but the part was on national backorder and it could be weeks or months before I get it. My issue is how was that code not detected before you charged me $3100+ for a car to now sit in my driveway until the part comes (if it ever comes). I was told it was perfectly safe to drive but there is no way that is safe. Now I am out of whatever down payment money I would have had to get another car but I didn't get the news until after they took my money. I feel so cheated. I also feel they knew if they told me the car could not be properly and completely repaired until the part comes I would not have had anything done. Apparently this issue is common with this vehicle and even Sheehy Ford of Midlothian doesn't have the part so I feel they knew or should have known this issue when it first came in. They're Ford experts right? I have a call into the service manager now (voicemail, of course). We scheduled a service appointment at this location and had to reschedule other things on a Saturday just to be there at our appointment time. We arrived and they never even looked at the car. They just met us outside and said there was nothing they could do until they get the part in at the end of 2024! I purchased a 2024 Ford Maverick from Sheehy in early December 2024. I am happy with the compact pickup, but I was not prepared for having my trade-in vehicle so astonishingly undervalued in the process. The first interactions with sales office were positive and friendly, but when the trade-in was priced so absurdly low, I asked for more. They then brought out the sales manager (beware the tag-team!), and that's when the experience became *uncomfortable* and, as I reflect on it, regrettable, even disappointing. He spoke with the tongue of aggressive capitalism, interrupting, insisting that Kelley Blue Book values were meaningless to them, and doggedly repeating that they were being fair in their assessment of my trade-in's value--a vehicle they had spent practically no time inspecting. I felt somewhat stuck having to make a compromise, as the bottom line pricing after $998 dealer fees (which they said is how the dealership "makes a profit") and other fees rounded up to what the sticker price was before what was advertised as "dealer discounts." The lending process was also chaotic, as they didn't know I was putting cash down, and they went ahead with the payments and interest rates anyway because, by that time in the day, the credit union where they had secured the best payments had closed for the weekend. This is all to say: if you approach this dealership to purchase a vehicle with a trade-in, carry with you a shark cage to buffer you from the sharpest and most aggressive sales tactics in the commonwealth. They're a high volume dealership and so proud of this achievement that they will tell you about it from the get-go. Their selection is impressive, indeed; vehicles are parked all over the place, even on the sidewalks. I get it that the marketplace rarely favors the consumer these days, but whew, friend, the experience was rough. I do like the vehicle I ended up purchasing. Absolutely terrible car buying experience! My son purchased a used 2019 Ford F250 2 weeks ago. Was not able to take it home immediately because they had not yet performed their 139 point inspection, and there was an open recall that needed to be addressed. They also promised to thoroughly detail the truck. 2 WEEKS LATER we finally get the truck delivered after threatening to cancel the sale. There is no documentation that anything was actually done, including the recall. No evidence this 139 point inspection was completed. And the truck was not even detailed: dog hair in the back seat, empty bottle in the truck bed, dirty cupholders and dash. And now we can't get anyone from Service or Finance to call us back to provide documentation that the inspection and recall were actually done! Absolutely terrible customer experience; we will never buy here again and will tell everyone we know not to as well. We may yet end up returning this truck! read more
