I am completely disappointed!! My visit started off great. I was a little bit hesitant about trying to new salon after reading several reviews. I decided to book an appointment with Trish. She was super friendly upon arrival and told me she had been doing hair for almost 10 years. So I decided to move forward with our appointment. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!! She was juggling two clients at the same time. So periodically she would go back-and-forth between myself and another client. So it was taking longer than usual for her to foil my hair. That should've been a big red flag since bleaching a clients hair has to be done in a timely matter. After she completely foiled my hair. She placed me under the dryer for 20 minutes. Without checking on me or my hair. When she had me in the Rinsing bowl. I knew something was wrong her whole demeanor had changed. Once I was in the chair and she begin brushing my hair. Huge globs of hair begin to fall out all over me. Once I turned around and seen a black towel folded over she had with all of my hair in it. I begin to completely freak out!! At the moment I thought OMG THIS CANT BE REAL!! it's going to take SERVAL YEARS FOR MY HAIR TO GROW BACK and be back to NORMAL!!! I noticed she had over processed my hair. Causing severe breakage. So much so she did not even completely Blow dry my hair due to it being so damaged. My hair feels like Hay!!! Worst part about it is she tried to hide it. NEVER EVER HAS THIS HAPPENED!! I had a terrible experience with Liz. Now I know that if someone is available on a Saturday that I should think twice. I came in with a retouch for my bangs and a toner. It looks absolutely terrible, it is 3 different colors. I had come in with only 1 color because I have been bleaching it for 2 years exactly the same way. Esther said that because my hair is damaged, the regrowth would end up being orange. Thats literally never happened in the years I have been retouching.. and also If its so damaged why is Liz blow drying my foils to speed up the process while the bleach has only been processing for 5 minutes, wouldn't the heat damage it even more? Also I know Liz wanted to speed up the process because she had another client, which I don't care if you leave as long as you give me what I am paying for. I kept being reminded by the second lady Esther that my hair was damaged every 5 minutes. *NEWS FLASH* Clients already know their hair is damaged, 1 time is good enough. This is going to be the ONLY salon I ever go to! To be honest this is my first time getting my hair washed, cut and styled but I would find it hard to believe anywhere else would be better. Not only were they able to accommodate my last minute haircut but as soon as i walked in i was greeted and made to feel comfortable. I had the honor of getting helped by two amazing stylists today Liz and Grace. Liz started off by introducing herself and asking me if I just wanted a haircut today and explained that a wash and style is included with the price (which btw is nowhere near how much I thought it would be for everything I was getting). I showed her pictures of what I wanted done and we got started right away always making me aware of how much she would be cutting before doing so to make sure I was okay with it. She also took care of my wash and treatment, it felt like i was at a spa. After that Grace who took over for my full layer cut and style did such an amazing job. She was also just and kind and welcoming as Liz and also asking me what exactly I wanted and gave tips on how to style it at home for the length I was doing with my wavy hair. They then both worked together to blow out my hair because I have so much and I honestly never felt more like royalty having two amazing stylists taking care of me. Let me start off by saying that Felis is simply amazing! I first reached out to her through Instagram and simply had a question as to what service I should book her for since it had been a while since I had been to the salon. She immediately reached out and had me send her a picture of my current hair so that she could guide me in booking the correct services. When I arrived I was surprised to learn that I was her only client of the day. She booked only me as she knew that my appointment would be a lengthy one and that my color correction would require all of the attention. I was super appreciative of her doing this because in the past I have had experiences where the attention is divided and someone else (who I didn't book for) ends up doing my hair. I spent a total of about 6 hours in the salon and throughout the entire time she was not only attentive to my hair but to me! She made sure I was comfortable and since I was a little under the weather she even offered to make me tea. She's very gentle with hair and is very honest about expectations vs reality. I gotta say im disappointed. I was here twice to see patty for my hair. And both times it came out wrong. On both occasions I was HERE I had 5 peoples hands on my hair, all changing and giving advice on the formula to be used. In fact on my very 1st appointment the OWNER! Ended up having to help out. So i did what i thought was the next best thing is reach the OWNER of the place surely she can help me and help me fix my hair. But no..... The answer was no.... I was told i would have to pay again for pattys time. Even though i had already paid n never got what i was promised. The owner nancy said to me to get a hold of patty n pay her again. Made an appointment on the phone for my hair with Tish.. A week ago before a very special event..the next morning! My baby sitter cancelled on me last minute she had some emergency..so I took my kids with me.. Drove half an hour to get there.. And when I went inside the girl I had an appointment with told me sorry I can't take you cause we have no kids policy.. Like wth you should have told me on the phone.. As a new SoCal resident I was on the hunt for a great salon that didn't offer a stuffy atmosphere with inflated pricing. After lots of searching and a few consultations I felt confident in booking with Ester at Shear Vanity. I was not disappointed. My hair is thick and very long. It can be a bit much for some stylist but Ester had no problem taking on a full color correction and style. She is a true professional who is realistic and knows her craft. She is warm and easy to talk to. The atmosphere at the salon is down to earth and attentive. After a few hours on color and almost an hour of blow drying the final product was AMAZING! I was blown away by what Ester was able to accomplish in just one sitting. Obviously every client is different (color,hair texture, etc.) but she went above and beyond for me. Where do I begin....The first time I went to shear vanity inc. was in Nov. 2013 and Jennifer attended me. She was very sweet and truly listened to what I wanted. She will give me steps by steps on what she'll do to your hair and any recommendations/ideas on what will suit me. I was please with my first hair session. The second time I texted Jennifer for a more lighter balayage ombre hairstyle. We set up an appointment and I asked if I can do a consultation first to have an idea and a plan. (Which is great for someone who rather plan ahead and speak with the hairstylist in person). Today was my hair appointment, in the morning. Showed up and the first thing the staff does is try to make you feel comfortable by asking anything to drink or if you find everything okay. Everyone seemed so friendly and professional. Jennifer makes you feel like a friend, not just a customer. She listens to you and goes beyond to make you feel comfortable as possible. 5hrs and a few mins later....and my bum hurting for sitting that long. She did a phenomenal job!! She did such a beautiful job that it made me feel like a superstar. Okay so I was in search of a new salon because my previous salon was unable after, three very pricy visits, to give me the color red I wanted. I decided to yelp near by salons and after reading the very great reviews on shear vanity I decided to call. I came in the same night I called (like 10 min after) because I was going out and was in very desperate need of hairapy. Upon my arrival, I was immediately greeted by this cute little thing by the name of Punky. What caught my eye immediately was the vibrant color of red she wore on her head. I was attended to quickly and she noticed the awful rainbow of brown and burgundy within my hair (5 shades total). I was very hesitant about bleaching my hair but it seemed like Punky knew what she was doing. I am SO HAPPY i came into shear vanity. I got the cutest hair cut, vibrant red color, and even a style in a matter of 2 hours. Punky was so helpful with tips on how to maintain my color as well as informing me on the products that would best treat and care for my new look. Honestly prices are very fair. For bleaching (correcting color), cut, dye (with some highlights/ lowlights [idk the difference but it looks awesome]), and styling it was only 150. I will definetly be back with my girl for my touch up. Overall, the work done here is great. The knowledge given to customers is honest. The salon has a fun and welcoming vibe and all the stylist are very charismatic and humble. They talk to you even if they aren't doing your hair. I really recommend this salon! I had to go somewhere else an hour later pay AGAIN almost $65 which is what Jess charged me to cut it just so they can even it out. & even then the girl at the salon told me it was still going to be somewhat crooked since Jessica cut off some hair that shouldn't of been cut off. First time at this salon and I gotta say: I'm coming back! I wanted something different. I've had ombré, years ago. So I didn't want that. I came in with pictures and Melissa, my hair stylist was super nice and did a great job. I wasn't ready to go full blonde highlights. So she gave me soft Balayage highlights. She was very attentive and said if I wanted to go lighter she can do it. But I was really happy with the end results. She said it will get lighter over time, and if I wanted I can just come back and get them lighter. Definitely coming back! A good friend of mine also comes here and her rose gold hair is fabulous! These ladies do a great job and definitely know about customer service. I got an appointment in less than two days. I finally found my hair salon! Yay! read more
